Blake contacted me about a couple of rings lost the day before at the beach, but there was only one that they were concerned about. It was a silver ring that he had personally made for his girlfriend on a trip to Bali. He had personalized it with engravings as well. They had been out the day before at the dog beach throwing dog toys for the pooches, and when they were ready to leave his girlfriend Nadia realized her rings were gone. I let them know that the difference of a day could decrease the chance of a recovery, but we decided it was worth a try, so I let them know I would leave soon to meet them for the search.

When I arrived at the beach they met me, and took me out to the area they had been, and showed me the path they had taken. It was about a football field long but fortunately a walking path wide. We walked the path finding a few dimes, pennies, bottle caps, and pull tabs. I made sure to dig everything to ensure I did not miss anything, but no rings. We got to end, and they decided we had been very thorough with no luck. We were going to walk back to where they had washed off their feet when after turning towards the parking lot I took two steps, and got a signal in my head phones of a high tone, dug, and there was a nice hammered silver band. Blake and Nadia had their backs to me when I pulled the ring out of the scoop, so I held it up and waited for them to turn around. Blake turned first and looked questioningly, and began to walk forward to see what I was trying to show him. When he finally realized what it was he came and gave me a big hug followed by one from Nadia, it was the ring they were concerned about, the one Blake had made for Nadia. I searched around for the other ring with no success. It was great to be able to be able to find such a meaningful token of their love.

Lost Gold & Diamonds Wedding & Engagement Rings at Nai’a Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find began yesterday morning when I got a call from Sabrina who lives in Mililani on Oahu.  While enjoying the day with her Grandchild at Nai’a Lagoon Sabrina realized her Gold & Diamonds Wedding & Engagement rings that had been in her Beach Bag were now missing.  She checked everywhere she could think of from home to her car through the parking lot and the path to the beach.  Finding no trace of her cherished rings she felt hopeless and reached out to Tanielu of Aloha Security.  Tanielu told Sabrina that I could locate things with a metal detector.  Since I was tied up at work until late I told her I would go to Nai’a Lagoon the next morning around 7 to search.  When I arrived we spotted each other on the beach and Sabrina came over to show me the area they were at on the beach thinking this was the last possible place the rings could be.  I immediately started a grid search and thankfully I keep this beach metal free I didn’t find a target until on the third leg I get a loud #9-10 on the Nox and in one scoop there was the wedding ring.  Sabrina was up on the path talking to security and I yelled up to her got one of them.  I marked my spot with the scoop and walked up to give it to Sabrina.  I told her let me go find the other ring.  I continued on that leg and no other targets were found.  On the return leg about three feet from the previous recovery I got another #9-10 on the Nox and in one scoop up came the Engagement Ring.  Sabrina was just over my shoulder so I just handed her the second ring.  Her facial expression was that of Joy & Relief at the same time.  We had a few laughs with security and Sabrina was able to go home feeling complete again.  Aloha to Sabrina!

Lost Wedding Ring in Car Recovered Using Endoscope Camera by Member of TheRingFinders

… Monique called asking if I could help her find her wedding ring lost in her Toyota Tacoma truck. She told me that her wedding ring set was put on the dash of her vehicle, while applying hand lotion. She was in the driver’s seat and parked in the driveway of her residence. Both rings slid towards the windshield. The wedding ring disappeared, but she was able to recover the engagement ring. 

She believed it must have dropped into the heater / defrost vents in the dashboard. Monique works where they have mechanics that had tried to help her locate the ring. They removed some trim but were unsuccessful locating the small diamond ring. 

After discussing what had happened, I felt that my endoscope cameras may help me to locate her ring. We set up a time and day that was convenient for her for me to search her vehicle. Some of the trim that the mechanic had removed gave me access under the speaker and into defrost/ heater vents. I don’t normally remove seats or trim. There are so many little hiding places in cars.

After a hour of probing the 5mm camera head into the dash. Boom! .. the ring showed up. It was 3” or 4” down in a small hole at the left corner up against the windshield. Very difficult to access for attempting a retrieval. Finding an ring in a car is one thing, but recovering it without dismantling the dash, etc. can take forever. 

After several car searches I have many special tools for retrieving items in cars. I used a medical grasping device that is flexible. I could only use the camera to see the ring and guide the grasping device latch onto the ring. Successful recovery of Monique’s original wedding ring. She was very happy to have her ring back where it belongs.

3 Rings Lost – 3 Rings Found!!!

I decided to go Pompano fishing after work yesterday afternoon but like always, I threw my detecting gear in my vehicle just in case. It’s a good thing I did because there was only a few hours of daylight left and I had just set my fishing rod down when I got a phone call from George. It seems they were right down the road in Gulf Shores and had been enjoying the day with family. Laurie, George’s daughter had taken off all three of her gold and diamond wedding rings and placed them in her chair’s cup holder to put on sunscreen. It was only at the end of the day when they were loading up their vehicle that Laurie realized what she had done and saw that all three were gone. They quickly did some googling and found me and very intelligently marked the area they had been sitting as a starting point. As George explained things, I was quickly breaking down my fishing setup and I told him that I would be right there. I decided to grid out the whole area since they didn’t know exactly where they were and it wasn’t too many passes until I found all three together in one scoop already buried several inches deep in the sand. Laurie said that this was their first day of vacation. I can only imagine how losing those three beautiful, sentimental rings would have ruined the whole trip. I am so glad y’all called me and I was able to avert a tragedy and help turn this into a great story for years to come. Enjoy your Easter weekend. 😃

Scuba Diving for a Lost Ring – FOUND!!!

I have been doing this for awhile now and I realized the other day that I was coming up on my 80th return. I was hoping that number 80 would be a special ring and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The other day I got a call from a Pennsylvania number and I answered to hear Terrie tell me that she needed some help. Her family was down vacationing in Orange Beach and when they were docking the boat in the marina, Josh, her son-in-law dropped his wedding ring in the water next to the dock. To make matters worse, the water depth where he thought it came off was about 8 or 9 feet deep. This was definitely going to take some dive gear to search for it. I agreed to come out and meet them and called my friend Charlie to see if I could use his Hookah dive rig. My gear was in for its annual service so this different setup would be a new experience as well. (Thanks Charlie)  When I got to the dock, the whole family was there to greet me and Josh showed me the general area he thought the ring had come off. He also explained that this was an heirloom ring that his father had given him. That made me even more determined as I jumped into the water. I brought along a 30lb weight belt to try and offset not having a steel tank while wearing my drysuit. I quickly realized that there was no way I was going to be able to stay on the bottom. Imagine wearing a giant life vest and trying to swim to the bottom of a pool.  It’s almost impossible. I wanted to use my drysuit because spending a lot of time searching on the bottom in murky marina water will freeze you to death but I decided the only way I was going to find this ring was to take off my drysuit, strip down to my bathing suit and bite the bullet. Now with the heavy weight belt I plunged to the bottom and oriented my gear. I had to look up occasionally to get my bearings by seeing Josh’s silhouette against the sky. I found a few different junk signals and then I heard a much stronger solid tone. I maneuvered over where I could see the bottom through my mask and waved my hand hard to clear the silt and sand. When it finally settled, there nestled amongst some oyster shells was Josh’s ring, safe and sound.  I surfaced and started handing gear up unable to talk yet with the regulator still in my mouth and the weight belt dragging me down. I handed everything up including the sonar cover for their boat that had gone over during the mishap. When I finally got the weight belt off and was able to take the regulator out I got a huge smile and handed Josh his heirloom ring back. I swam over to the boat to use the ladder to get out and the whole time the family was cheering and celebrating. It’s such a great feeling to be able to help people with this hobby. Terrie said it best when she texted me that evening that Josh was back to happy with a pep in his step and I had put their vacation back on track. I’m so glad I could help!  Terrie and Josh you have a great family. 😃

how to find a buried water spigot in Valley Wa.

Excite, hopeful ,looking toward the future Sandra stood with her husband in front of their newly purchased home. As the couple took it all in the pervious owner gave them the run down on the homestead. He reminisced about growing up there and it being like new back in the 1930’s. Sandra asked the man if there was ever a water spigot further away from the home. He squinted his eyes while looking south. Raising his arm in the air his bony finger pointed toward the middle of the yard.  “Somewhere over there”, he exclaimed with a precise approximation. So with that lump of information Sandra began digging. “I felt like I was  digging to China” Sandra said as I began my search. See Sandra gave up on her search and found a guy with a metal detector…Me. I quickly made my grid search over Sandra’s dig site. Expanding the grid I noticed a wet patch of dirt. Low and behold a massive signal was near the wet dirt.  My shovel made a loud thud as I plunged it into the wet dirt. With a quick square cut into the sod Sandra’s spigot appeared. Smiling and excited Sandra’s shed idea was becoming fully realized.

*** Abby and her friends had spent the day at a small beach in Malibu, CA. When they started to pick up their beach stuff, she realized her favorite silver ring was not on her finger. They spent over an hour searching the dry sand because she had not been in the water or any other location on the beach.

   One of Abby’s friends found my information with a google search for ideas on how to find a ring at the beach. They called me and I asked a few basic questions. The most important question was can you wait at the location till I get there?  

It was going to be dark but that is not a problem. Getting there tonight would save her another trip to the location. From what she told me, I assured her that once I got there the search should not take much time.

We met about an hour later. After seeing the 40’x50’ area I began a grid search. There wasn’t much metal trash signals, but it was black sand which can be a nuisance as can interfere with most metal detectors. 

It wasn’t looking good when I neared the end of the search area. Then a strong high conductor signal broke through the black sand. YEP! Digging up one scoop of sand and shaking the scoop we could hear the heavy silver ring clanking in the scoop. Total time of the search was about a half hour.  If I started at that end of the search area it would have been 5 minutes.

Lost Earring Santa Fe, New Mexico – Found

A playing dog bumped into a lady visiting friends and one of her gold, diamond, and pearl earrings fell off. An exhaustive search did not find the earring. They contacted me in December 2022 and then in March 2023 when we were able to firm up a trip 4 1/2 hours away to do a search. We met at their house in Santa Fe, NM. Literally 2 minutes into the search I found her earring. The earring owner arrived moments later and was obviously ecstatic.

Lost Wedding Ring at the church!!!

Sadie called and said that she and her kids had gone to the church for a Saturday afternoon playground session. When they got there the gate was locked so they decided to have a picnic on a grassy area instead. Sadie had me come out the next day and showed me the area it could have possibly been in and I began my search. Being Palm Sunday you can imagine there were lots of people interested and finally a very nice man named Bob with security came out to make sure everything was ok. As soon as he walked up to me he said, “I know you! You run Pensacola Ring Finders”. 😃. He had some experience with detecting and very kindly walked Sadie and a gentleman that was helping out of the search zone. I finished the area and about the time I was going to tell Sadie that we needed to expand the search, Sadie and Bob started yelling for me to come over. Sadie had looked down 30 yards from the area she thought it was in and saw her precious ring gleaming in the sun. I definitely can’t take detecting credit for this one but sometimes knowing where it’s not makes all the difference. I like to think that a little Palm Sunday divine guidance doesn’t hurt either. 😃👏Congratulations Sadie and thanks for the assist Bob!

Lost Ring Pensacola – FOUND 5 months later!

I must admit that I assumed my first return during Spring Break this year would be someone out enjoying this nice weather. In reality, George lost his ring in his backyard 5 months ago. Like a lot of people, George had a pretty good idea where it was so he decided to go buy a metal detector and see if he could find it himself. When he finally gave me a call he remarked about how much iron there was in the ground and how hard it was to operate. George asked me to come out and take a look for him. George was right that it was a tough area but luckily I have some of the best machines in the world and I’ve been using them a long time. George pointed me to the area and I began my search. I did the part George had pointed out with a few coils and realized that the ring wasn’t there. I told George that I was going to expand my search and I didn’t make it too far before I heard a nice gold tone in my headphones and headed over to a thrilled George and his wife Michelle. Thank you both for trusting me to come find your ring. 👍
