Lost Silver & Gold Ring Found In South Bethany Beach Delaware

  • from Lewes (Delaware, United States)
Contact:

On 07/08/18, I received a call from Shanti requesting my help in finding her silver & gold ring that had been lost on the beach in South Bethany Beach Delaware. Shanti asked if I was available to come to the beach to search for her ring right away because the tide was coming in. I told Shanti that I would be at the beach in about twenty minutes to look for her ring. When I arrived at the beach, Shanti told me that she had placed her ring in a pocket of her shorts which had been laid on a beach chair. Shanti said that the beach chair and the shorts had been moved from their original location on the beach to a second location and that after the chair and shorts had been moved her ring was no longer in the pocket of her shorts. Shanti said that the ring could be in the sand at either of the two locations. I began the search for the ring at the original location and as I started to swing my detector the ring revealed itself buried at about an inch in the sand. The ring was recovered and returned to its rightful owner. Shanti was delighted to have her ring back.

Ring lost in Paradise Hills found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Elizabeth called and asked for help finding her husband Carl’s lost ring. After eating some cherries in the front yard, Carl tossed the remains, and felt his loose fitting gold ring come off his pinky finger. He and his family searched the grass, raked it several times, and even rented a metal detector, but, without success. They even had video of him doing it through their security system! A first for me, actually seeing the loss happen. Even after repeated viewing of the video,                              we couldn’t really see the ring fly, but, it at least showed the throwing motion and approximate direction. It looked like it should be straight out in the grass, but, after 10-15 minutes of gridding the small front yard with no ring, I expanded the search to include street, gutter, a drainage ditch. Still no luck, so, I continued past the side fence and up on a landscaped side hill. Sure enough, it was waiting for me there! After receiving a promising signal, I could just spot the edge of the ring poking out of the apple ivy ground cover. Carl wasn’t home, but, a very happy Elizabeth greeted me again at the door and their daughter contacted Carl with the good news and posed for the photo with the ring. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

Lost Rings found at Pacific Beach

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Last night I received a call from Jose asking for help finding his wife Deisy’s engagement and wedding rings. They were enjoying the beach with their two children yesterday and Deisy had removed her rings and put them in her pants pocket, and then put the pants in her beach bag. Good idea to keep them safe, right? Well, it didn’t turn out that way. Later in the day when they were ready to leave, she got her pants out of the bag and put them on.  A few minutes later, when they got to the house, she reached into the pocket and, no rings. Back down to the beach to search for them, but, as is typical, it was fruitless. They could be where she put on the pants (most likely) or anywhere along their hike off the beach and to the house a block away. After searching for help with the lifeguards and online, they came upon TheRingFinders.com website and me. Being a popular beach to detect, I hot foot it down there and meet Jose who takes me to where they were camped out that afternoon. It was now just after high tide and the area had been washed over a bit by some waves, but, not a lot of erosion, so, the rings should still be there. I began an ever-expanding grid search from that point, and after 20 minutes or so, I get a good solid 8 on my Equinox. Out comes the pin pointer and I find the engagement ring just under the sand about 20 feet from my starting point. Great, the wedding should be close by….not! I gridded that area 6 ways from Sunday and not a sound. Oh well, we’ll do it the hard way. I expanded the area even more and made 4-5 passes all the way to the stairs thinking it might have fallen along the way. Nope, found a few coins, lots of foil junk, a junk ring, and a couple of stud earrings, but, no wedding ring. Since the tide had gone out significantly since I started a couple hours earlier, I decided to go back to the original site and expand down the slope toward the water. Sure enough, after a few passes, I get a nice solid 6-7 reading and up pops the wedding ring about half way down the slope. We headed back to the house where I met a tearfully grateful Deisy. Glad to have met you both and thank you for the reward.

Lost Mens Tungsten Carbide Wedding Band Found At Cape Henlopen State Park In Lewes, Delaware

  • from Lewes (Delaware, United States)
Contact:

On 05/14/18, I received a text message as well as an email from Adam regarding the loss of his Tungsten Carbide Mens Wedding Band At Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware. Adam said that he had been camping over the weekend with his cub scout pack at the State Park and on Saturday 05/12/18 he had lost his wedding band. Adam said that he had been sitting when he took his ring off and placed it in his lap. Adam said that he stood up forgetting that his ring was in his lap and that it was lost in the sand. Adam also sent me a detailed map of the area of the lost ring. I called Adam at which time I told him that I would look for his ring for him and would let him know if I was able to locate it. I then responded to the location of the lost ring and began a grid search for it. After about five minutes of searching Adams lost ring was located and recovered. I took a picture of the ring in the sand and sent it to Adam by text. I asked Adam if the ring looked familiar he said “yes” and identified it as his lost ring. I then mailed the ring back to Adam which he received about a day later. Below is an email sent to me by Adam the day after he had gotten his ring safely returned.

Hi Alan,

I can’t thank you enough for finding my wedding ring. I thought I would never see it again when I left Cape Henlopen on Sunday. When I got to work on Monday I felt I needed to at least make a call to the park office and report I lost it, not that I expected anyone to ever find it, let alone turn it in. I can’t remember the exact search terms I used when I was searching for the park office website, but I came across one of your posts on theringfinders.com. After reading through a few more posts I felt there was a pretty good chance you could find it, if no one else had stumbled upon it in the meantime. An email, a text message, a phone call and a few hours later you found my ring. I thought, wow, that was too easy. Well, you are obviously good at what you do and I wish I had known about the website sooner. I will be sure to share my experience and promote the website, a true “ring” saver!

Attached is a picture you can use for the website.

Thanks again and happy hunting!

– Adam

Mr. Rod wrote, “My name is Rod. I, after bathing my dog in the yard, discovered that my wedding band was missing. Having been married for 43 years, I was very disappointed to lose it and I searched frantically with the help of about 10 friends for 6 days without success.
Fortunately, a kind neighbor knocked on our door and gave us Mike’s name and address. So I called him. An appointment to initiate the search was made and at which time Mike arrived promptly. After marking off the area, he was able to locate and retrieve my ring within approximately 5 minutes of initiating the task at hand. My wife and I are so pleased and grateful. Lost Keys Found In Paihia Orchard (with some metal detector help)

  • from Paihia (New Zealand)

Simon was collecting oranges in the orchard and didn’t realise until he got back to his car that his shorts had a car key-sized hole in the pocket.

A couple of days later he found me through TheRingFinders and I arranged to meet him onsite.

It was a huge area to scan, so I put my Search & Rescue tracking skills to work and retraced his meanderings in and around the trees – Made more interesting by the fact he’d been back the previous day for another look with a borrowed detector, which meant differentiating his original track from the fresher one. Good game!

I snaked my way through the trees following the two day old sign. Bruised leaves, broken stems or blades of grass under tension all reduced the search area to no more than a metre wide strip. These clues all led me to where he’d sought out the odd ripe fruit from random trees, retraced his steps, or just changed direction for no apparent reason, and right in the heart of the orchard where he’d finally filled the bag and turned to head back – were the keys, tucked under the grass.

It would have been a mammoth task to search the whole orchard without the advantage of being a tracker.

He was rapt, and more than a little impressed. Twenty minutes from getting out of the car, I was on my way home.

Sometimes, the eyes can be faster than the coil.

Ring Lost in Whangarei, Eaten by Cow – Found!

  • from Paihia (New Zealand)

Over the years, I’ve had my share of looking for rings lost while gardening, throwing things for the dog, or just being lobbed randomly during arguments.  This was my first hunt for a ring that had been vacuumed off a finger by a calf!

Luke made contact after reading of my successful hunts, and for me the story was too intriguing!  He had been letting the calves suck his fingers in order to keep them tame, and the hand came back minus the ring…

On the day in question, he hadn’t banked on the powerful combination of bovine slobber and suction!  Catch was, had it been spat out on the ground nearby,  chewed, swallowed and passed through the digestive system to turn up elsewhere in the paddock…or was it still in there?

He was very pleased to see me, and we headed straight out so he could show me where it all happened, also pointing out the calves that I could end up scanning!  The ground had been dry, which was good as it meant it was unlikely to have been pressed deep into mud – however the Autumn-flush grass was mid-calf (That’s my calf, not the cow variety) which was going to make it very hard work.

I started at the “Point Last Seen” and nosed the coil in and around the grass in the immediate vicinity with no luck, so I resigned myself to gridding about an acre of very lush pasture.

With my back into the corner of the wire fences, I took the first swing, and was immediately disheartened by the erratic threshold sounds of electrical interference from a buried cable. Not overly bad fortunately.  Second swing…. third swing and a golden tone rang through the headphones! I parted the long grass, couldn’t see anything.  Out with the pinpointer, it chirped away…but I still couldn’t see anything.

A slight change of head angle and a flash of yellow lit up in among the dead stems. It was already making itself very comfortable in there, and I was glad I didn’t have to use the rubber gloves 🙂

Knocked on the door of the house again, and was met by a huge smile when I held the ring up – That’s when I found out, it’s their wedding anniversary in just a few days.

Found! Diamonds and Gold Wedding ring at Log Castle during lowtide… Langley Washington!

  • from Seattle (Washington, United States)

Last weekend, Corianne was digging up bait shrimp during lowtide at her family-owned vacation rental, The Log Castle Bed & Breakfast, https://www.vrbo.com/1015151  when she realized she had lost her custom made white gold and multi diamond wedding ring! And since the sand was like quicksand while digging, it could be very deep in one of the holes they made digging up sand shrimp…

She emailed me after  purchasing a detector and having no luck searching with her husband. Unfortunately my schedule wouldn’t allow me to hunt for it for at least a week after she had lost it. The soft sand and tides could really engulf it in that time, but it was worth trying.

After a week, I was able to take a road trip up there, and after searching for about 3 hours, surrounded by bald eagle nests and at least 3 eagles  and about 25 seagulls watching me work… I found it!

It was an emotional reunion and a great location to hunt at, despite the quicksand like conditions… and I will be camping on the property as an added bonus! Maybe some bald eagle photos to follow…

Diamond dazzler!
