I received a call from Christi asking for my help in recovering a very special ring she had lost in the back yard. She explained that she had just removed a rock from her dog’s mouth. She then threw the rock towards the arborvitaes hedge line. The next thing she knew her multi generation family heirloom platinum diamond ring was no longer on her finger!  She was a hundred percent absolutely certain the ring flew off and was somewhere in the yard. I told her I would be happy to help her out and I was on my way.

When I arrived she retold the story informing me this time that she actually witnessed two items fly though the air after throwing the rock she had removed from her puppies mouth. She even showed me where the rock she threw had landed close to the hedge line. This was all very reassuring news to me lining this up to be a fairly straight forward recovery scenario. She also informed me that she had already received permission from the neighbor if we needed to search the yard behind the fence. As I investigated the fence I quickly realized it was a metal chain link fence and the neighbors back yard had a water feature under construction with large rocks with many deep cracks. I prepared myself mentally that this could be a challenging search if the ring landed close to a metal fence or worse went into the neighbors yard.

 

               

She also told me she had considered renting a metal detector from one of our local shops. However after seeing TheRingFinders.com she figured it was the most efficient option to call upon an experienced recovery specialist. As many people report she had no idea TheRingFinders even existed and was very happy to have found us.

With my detector in hand I got under way with the search.  Fortunately the arborvitaes hedge line made a great back stop as it didn’t take more than a few quick minutes to locate her cherished heirloom diamond ring. My detector easily rang out a five VDI signal holding true to the platinum ring below. Her puppy even came over to check out what all the fuss was about as I recovered the ring from below the shrubs. Christi was extremely relieved and happy to have her precious ring back on her finger.

    

I was extremely happy to have recovered her ring and quite thankful it did’t fly past the fence into the neighbors yard. Another ring recovered, another smile earned making for a happy day during a time of global stress and health concerns.

Al called me last week to ask my help in finding his wedding ring. He had been cleaning out a yard drain of dead leaves in his neighbor’s yard, and spreading the leaves out so as to not make a pile of them when he noticed his wedding ring of 46 years missing from his hand. We talked, and he told me that as soon as he secured permission from the neighbor to have me search with my detector, he would call me back. He called yesterday letting me know he had the permission, and we arranged to do the search today.

When I arrived Al was waiting for me. I got my equipment together, and he walked me over to the yard. It was overgrown with grass, and had a thick layer of dead leaves which would create quite a problem in locating a small item like a wedding ring for sure. Al told me he had tried with a detector his wife had purchased for him previously, but without success. I have found that without experience, trying to do the search not knowing how to use the detector usually results in an experiment in frustration for the person looking. I have the time on the detector, and the number of recoveries to know when to press on in an abysmal situation. When I turned the detector on, right away I was experiencing electrical interference, so I adjusted for that. Then there was a chain link fence next to the search area, so when I received a good signal near the fence, I adjusted the pin pointer for that area. The yard was very clean of metal trash, and I got a couple of good signals that proved to be too deep for recent loss. It wasn’t until I got about 20 feet from the drain that I got a great double beep on a shallow signal, put the pin pointer in moving the leaves around, when we both sighted the ring edge on its side pushed into the dirt. Al was so very happy when I lifted it out and handed it to him. He and his wife picked out the rings (hers is similar) 46 years ago when they got married. 46 years, truly a marriage made in Heaven. So glad to be a help, especially in these dire times!

Lost Southern Hemisphere Gold Wedding Band at 4 Seasons Resort Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from 4 Seasons Security. Security wanted to know if I could come out to the resort and look for a guest’s ring in the lagoon. Since it was getting late I told them I’d be there at first light. The next morning Security met me on the beach and showed me the general area to hunt and if I found the ring to let them know. I went back to my car to get my Equinox & scoop and when I returned to the beach I met Sean from Sydney Australia. He told me he was the person who lost the ring and confirmed the search area. He told me the previous day after applying sun lotion he walked into the lagoon and in waist deep water his Southern Hemisphere white gold ring fell off. He saw it hit the water then disappear. He told me his wife who would be arriving later today had the Northern Hemisphere ring and they went together to complete the Earth. I had to find it PLEASE!!! I swept this area the previous day so their weren’t any targets until about the fourth leg of the grid search and boom the Nox is screaming. One dig and there in my scoop is half the world in white gold. I motioned to Sean who was on the shoreline that I found it and I swear it looked like he burst into tears. So happy to help reunite these magnificent rings. Aloha to Sean!

Lost Titanium Wedding Band at 4 Seasons Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find started back on October 10th 2019 when I met Ian from Roseville California. While enjoying his vacation at 4 Seasons Resort his Titanium Wedding band came off somewhere in the lagoon. My initial search didn’t find Ian’s ring and the search area would include scuba as Ian was swimming in a large swath of the lagoon. Then there was a spell of bad weather and surf. A few scuba dives still yielded no ring. Finally on Friday March 6 on a dive outside of Ian’s grid I found a Black Titanium Ring with “Modern Gents” engraved on the inside. I immediately texted the picture to Ian to confirm the recovery. After consultation with the Jeweler it was looking like this might not be his ring. Then the Jeweler confirmed it was possible as they work with other vendors. I told Ian I would mail the ring to him so he could confirm himself once and for all. Ian confirmed it was in fact his ring by sending me a pic and a “Shaka”. Glad to finally get that ring find settled. Aloha to Ian!

Lost Diamond Hoop Earring Found In Farmington Michigan

wHOOP It Up!

The pictured lady experienced a turnover when her earring went missing last week.
Her and her mom jumped through hoops trying to end the losing streak.
We agreed to meet this morning and move around the play area looking for a scoring opportunity.
Scanning the half court, we noticed a soft relaxing couch large enough to sit, sleep, lay down and watch the game.
After that tip off, my teammate and I dribbled and passed towards the end of the court to set up and score.
Reaching into and thru a hoop hole in the material, I yelled slam dunk! as I pulled out this beautiful 20 points of diamonds hoop earring!
We were thrilled that all the hoop-lah was over and that our dunkadelic strategy along with playing above the rim defeated the underdog with a large point spread, putting her earring back in the game, and bringing March madness to March gladness!

….. Patty called me late in the afternoon from her home in Santa Ana, California. Her daughter had lost a Tiffany ring in the backyard while throwing toys for her dogs.  After a couple hours of searching they could not locate the ring in the small grassy backyard. They were at their wits end when a neighbor suggested they contact a metal detecting service.

Patty located me through TheRingFinders directory. We discussed the circumstances of the loss, after hearing that it was a recent loss and her daughter felt the ring come off her finger, I was confident that this was going to be an easy search. These rings usually get stepped on which puts them out of site.

We had less than an hour before sunset when I arrived to meet the family. The back yard was small, maybe 20ft by 35ft of grass with a small 30” wide raised planter next to a 6ft wall. The planter only had a few large palm plants with a lot of recently tilled exposed soil. 

Several cross grids scans with my metal detector over the grass were unsuccessful. I was getting frustrated because they insisted that the ring went straight ahead into the grass. It was already dark after an hour, so as a last resort, I took my pinpointer (handheld detector) to check the planter. BOOM!! .. the ring was located with just an edge of the ring exposed. There was not any  other places to search. 

Everybody was excited essentially Patty’s daughter who had received this ring as a gift for he fifteenth birthday,  a very important day of her life.

After talking to Patty about who recommended me, we discovered that I had found a ring for neighbor last year. That ring was found at 2 am after being lost in the surf for 4 days. It is a small world that brings people’s experiences together to help others with their problems. I’m getting more input from people that are hearing about TheRingFinders directory. It’s awesome to be a part of this service that has evolved with the help of the internet.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Makai Pier Oahu…FOUND!!!

This ring find began back on 25 January when I received a call from Reeve from Hong Kong who works as a Mechanical Engineer at University of Hawaii’s Makai Pier. While playing in the water along the Pier with his dog at some point his ring came off. He snorkeled around looking for the ring but no luck. The area had a sandy bottom and looked like an easy hunt. When I arrived the next morning Reeve described the area he was in. As I entered the water with my Equinox to start the grid search the detector started going off. The area along the pier is littered with coins, fishing weights and can slaw. To make matters worse just a few inches under the sand were rocks, coral and stones and that made it practically impossible to scoop targets. I told Reeve I would have to return on scuba but my gear was at the shop getting annual checks. When I finally got my gear back the weather played havoc with gale force winds & torrential rain. So finally this AM Reeve and I saw an opportunity and I took off a few hours from work to hunt. This time on scuba with my Excalibur I was able to eliminate many targets by their tone. Then about 20 minutes into the dive I got a nice low tone and in one scoop with my hand there was Reeve’s Gold Wedding Band glistening in the Sunlight. Six weeks in the ocean and it was within an inch of the surface. Reeve texted a picture of himself wearing the ring and his wife was elated and very gracious to me for finding it. Challenging hunt with a happy ending. Aloha to Reeve!

Lost Car Key Fobs at Aliso Beach California.. Found

***** Joshua and his wife took a short trip from their home to Aliso Beach to watch the sunset over the ocean. Aliso Beach is part of the Orange County parks system located in south Laguna Beach. They were only there for less than an hour which was long enough for his wife to lose her set of 2 car key fobs. 

They didn’t realize the keys were missing until they arrived home. Joshua returned to the beach to see if he could find them with no success.

He was able to call me asking if I was available to help. He was assuming that we could meet the next morning. After finding out that the items lost were the expensive key fobs, I told him it would be best if we could meet as soon as possible. It would be about 8pm which would give me two hours to search before the beach closes. It would not be necessary for him to stay.

Joshua and I met in the well lighted parking lot at exactly 8pm.. We walked across to the sand discussing where and what happened to cause the loss of the keys.

When we passed the trash receptacle next to a lamp post, we spotted the keys on top of the trash box.

I didn’t have to turn on my detector and it was a successful search. This is common with keys found by others at the beach here In SoCal. People find keys, etc. and put them on lifeguard towers, posts, walls, near exits of the beach. Unfortunately sometimes others take them for various reasons. 

It was a cool evening so we glad that everything went well and we were both home  within an hour of Joshua’s call..

I received an early morning call from Whitney the other day regarding the loss of his wife’s wedding ring. It seems that 3 days earlier she had been out in the yard playing with her son, and took her rings off so as not to get them messed up. She laid them on the grass, but did not take into account their dogs running around. So when she went back to retrieve her rings they were gone, quite possibly kicked around by the dogs and pushed down into the grass. We arranged on a time to come out, and I readied my equipment for the search.

When I got to their house Whitney met me and showed me the area of the loss, which wasn’t large. He then explained how he had searched and found the engagement ring, but after about a total of 8 hours of searching over the 3 days, was not able to locate the wedding band. I set up my equipment for this search and began a tight grid. About 5 minutes into the search, I got a great shallow signal, and to Whitney’s surprise, found the ring, just a couple of feet from the original location. It was a small yellow gold ring that was easily hidden in the brown parts of the grass. Needless to say Whitney and his wife were pleased to have found The Ring Finders, and I was happy to be able to reunite them with their precious token of love!

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Ala Moana Beach Park…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I received a text from David on his honeymoon from Switzerland. While enjoying the cool waters of Ala Moana Beach Park and discussing with his lovely wife Corinne that his Wedding Band felt loose and in his next breath the ring fell off in waist deep water. He tried fruitlessly for over an hour to find his ring in the shallow water but the sand consumed it. I told David I would grab my Nox and gear and head straight down. It was only 15 minutes away and surprisingly there was parking adjacent to where David lost his Wedding Band. When I arrived David helped me draw some grid lines in the sand and then I entered the water to hunt. First target was a 20-21 Lincoln Cent. Then on about the fifth grid line I got another 20-21 signal and after missing the target three times I looked in the scoop expecting the penny when low and behold there was David’s 18k Gold Wedding Band. Got to dig those pennies folks. After a few hugs and Mahalos David and Corinne graciously thanked me for saving their honeymoon. Aloha to David & Corinne!
