While vacationing in Ocean City Maryland this past week I received a call from a customer who was trying to locate his wife’s 14K white gold wedding band with diamonds. As I wasn’t due to arrive back in Leesburg until the next day we coordinated for me to make the 2 1/2 hour trip to his home in Afton on Sunday. Stephan did borrow a friend’s metal detector and gave it a valiant attempt, but he was not able to locate the ring.

On Sunday I traveled to Stephan’s home in Afton Virginia..West of Charlottesville, a gorgeous drive through some very scenic mountain areas in Southern Virginia.

Once I arrived Stephan gave me a brief story of how the ring was lost and possibly where he thought it might be. I started my search close to the house hoping the ring wasn’t too far away, we moved a small wood pile out of the way so I could get a nice pathway cleared and I conducted a grid search across the front yard several times, only hitting mostly iron/trash items. There was also a lot of interference in the area n ext to the house so I had to change the frequency settings on the Equinox 800 down to 20khz to get a cleaner signal. After not locating the ring near the home I expanded my search to a field across a small gravel driveway in front of their home. I did three wide grid passes, each about 30/40 yards in length in the field and on the third line hit a nice bang tone of 8 on the detector, as most know this is typically a white gold range. As I knelt down and moved the tall grass out of the way the beautiful white gold ring showed itself to be saved.

As I was getting up from the ground, Stephan was coming out of the house. I raised my hand with the ring and he yelled, “you found it!?” …and came running across the front yard, injured leg or not he was trying to run as fast as he could to see the ring. Stephan was so elated that he gave me a big bear hug, this is saying a lot for a guy his size!!

Stephan and his wife were ecstatic to have the ring returned and I couldn’t be happier to bring this joy back to them and have the matching set back together.

God Bless and Happy Hunting

Ray

Lost engagement ring, Casselberry, Florida….Found and Returned!

Michael, a newlywed of two months, emailed me asking about theringfinders service and if I would be available anytime soon to help look for his wife’s lost diamond engagement ring! I assured Michael that if he was confident about the area where she lost it then there would be a very good chance of finding it. Often people think they’ve lost something in more than one location and that usually means allot more work trying to locate the missing item. And thankfully in this case there were only two locations that they felt very confident about.

Gaby, Michael’s dear wife, had put her ring in her pants pocket along with her ear bud cord and she remembered pulling the cord from her pocket a couple of times while they were out taking some photos around a small pond in their neighborhood. And as with many ponds and water ways here in Florida come the usual wildlife that make themselves at home. And in this case there are allot of ducks…and Gaby was sure one of them had picked it up and possibly ate it!

I met Michael and Gaby the next morning bright and early and followed them to the first location where Gaby had posed for some photos. And after a 20 minute search of all the possible areas that she had walked the previous day…NO RING! So we walked along the sidewalk to the other side of the lake where more photos were taken. They again explained where Michael stood with the camera and the two places where Gaby had posed. So I set out a few marker flags and again got to work grid searching the final area. All along while searching I would get various sounding signals and when looking for a lost ladies wedding ring it is best to double check all the small foil like signals to be sure it is not the ring. Plus when looking for a recent drop it is almost sure to be just down in the grass and not buried in the dirt. And sure enough just as I was finishing up the final corner of the search area I got a loud signal reading of “44” on my Garrett ATMax metal detector and showing it was down two inches. I checked the target with my Garrett pin pointer and there hiding under the grass was Gaby’s lost engagement ring! So I laid the pin pointer on the ground with the ring laying just off the end and motioned to Michael and Gaby to come over and look at what I had just found. As she picked up her precious ring I said a heart felt thank you to God for allowing me to find her lost treasure.

Maybe you’ve lost something recently and would like some help. Call, text or email me ASAP and I will do my very best to help you recover your lost item.

I woke up to an email today from a young lady who said she lost her grandmother’s ring that was gifted to her from her mother. I saw the email came in around 11:30 PM last night, I emailed her back at 6 AM asking if she could call me as soon as she got up. I know it’s very important to act quickly due to the fact it was lost as a local park.

I received a call from the young lady at 8:07 AM and we arrange to meet at the park after she did a search herself for the ring. Twenty minutes later she phoned me back to ask for my help, Beverley and I loaded the car with our detectors and headed out to the park in Vancouver about 40 minutes away. When we got there we met Chloe and she showed us the areas she believe the ring may have come off her finger, even though she found it to be quite odd as the ring fit tightly. We asked Chloe to take the cones and put out a grid for us to search in.

Beverley and I started at the far end of our grid and work towards each other, within a couple of minutes I got a nice loud signal so I bent down with my pin pointer and saw her gorgeous ring. Because of the coronavirus I have to figure out a way to surprise people on my video now because we are not allowed to get close to someone, it’s hard to get the true reactions of the find. I will work on this and make it better as time goes on, so thanks for your patience.

Chloe Beverley and myself were very happy to see the ring back where it belongs, her grandmother doesn’t even have to know that her granddaughter lost it. The best part of what we do is seeing the smiles it doesn’t matter if you’re young or old everyone’s ring has a beautiful story attached to it and we are so happy to be able to continue that story for Chloe.

Lost ring in Layton, Utah: Found

Joe needed to trim some dead branches from the big pine tree in the yard, so of course, he decided to climb the tree. But as he leaped up to grab the lowest branch, he felt his wedding ring slip off his finger. No problem, he thought, how hard can it be to find a big ring in a small lawn? He borrowed a metal detector from a friend and searched the whole area. He found trash, coins, wire, and even a lost fork, but no ring. Then they called me. We arranged for a time to meet, and I started searching through the junk-filled yard with my metal detecting equipment. I found the ring 20 or 30 feet from the tree, in the opposite direction from where we thought the ring would be. When a ring goes flying, it’s hard to guess where it will finally land.

Jennifer was enjoying a cool afternoon walk along her favorite grassy back road and thinking about how loose her engagement ring felt on her finger. As she walked along she was thinking, I wonder if my ring would come off if I shook my hand a bit and sure enough, the motion was enough to send her ring off into the thick grass! Shocked at what just happened, she immediately stopped and tried searching through the grass, desperate to recovery her now, lost ring! After searching for several hours she realized she needed to at least mark the spot and by using her foot she scuffed a bare spot on the grassy road and then went to her truck to find something to better mark the area. All she could find was a machete and some red surveyors tape, so she returned to the mark and stuck the machete into the ground along side of the road directly across from the bare spot. She then called her fiancee and together they talked about renting or buying a cheap metal detector. Later they went on Google and typed in “Metal Detection Professionals” and up came theringfinders.com. Jennifer gave me a call and we met later on that afternoon and drove out to the unique machete marker along side of the road. I set out four flags and began my grid search and did not walk more than 5 steps before I got a really nice signal on my Whites DFX metal detector. Because the grass was so thick I decided to use my Garrett Pro Pointer and there was Jennifer’s lost engagement ring! I motioned for Jennifer to come pick up what I had located and you talk about one happy young lady! Here’s what Jennifer wrote two days later. “While out walking,my favorite ring fell off my finger and even though I knew the location where it fell off, I was unable to find the ring after several hours of looking through the tall grass. I contacted Mike after finding his information on the internet and he responded as soon as he was able. Mike asked a few questions, set up a boundary and started looking. And within minutes of him arriving at the site, my ring was found!! I am so grateful to Mike for his help and my fiancee and I would like to give him a big thanks! Again thanks so much!”
