Yumi called today with a slight air of desperation. She had been at the park with friends and their children. Then Yumi wanted to take some pictures of her 1 year old child, and the special gold babies ring that was given by Yumi’s stepmother. Her child had the ring on when they arrived at the park, but when it was time for the pictures, the ring was gone. Yumi and her friends combed the grass for at least 1 1/2 hours without being able to find the ring, and when she was feeling like giving up, her friend’s husband found my number, and encouraged her to call. When she called We went over what happened on the phone, and I let her know I would be there right away.

When I arrived, I met Yumi and her friend. Yumi went over where they had been that day. The area was not super large, so I knew that if the ring was still there, I would find it, I just needed to start a slow and deliberate grid. I started where they got out of the car and began my way towards where they ended up. I was receiving many different signals from surface metals. I found a few pennies and some tin foil. About half way, I got a real good double beep in the head phones, put the pin pointer in moving the grass around, when I saw the little gold ring. I reached in and held it up for Yumi. She came over happy and relieved that it was found. Everybody went home happy today!

How to find a lost diamond ring with a metal detector in Maple Ridge, BC.

It’s not the first time I’ve said this and it won’t be the last…People get mad! It happens more than you thing and rings go flying!

i got call from a young man who told me the story about how he got mad at his fiancé and asked for the ring back…Big mistake! She threw the ring towards the ditch and as far as he could tell it went into the ditch. People get mad and things happen! Then remorse sets in….!

This young man spent the later part of the day and most of the night in the ditch looking for the ring. He couldn’t find it as it was raining and every rain drop looked like a diamond. He had to head out of town for work and he text his girl that he found the ring so that she wouldn’t worry.

Then he got online and found me on TheRingFinders and called me. After hearing the story I told him that I could go out later that day to look for the ring if he was comfortable and trusted me without him being there. He said yes please go out and look and sent me the address with pictures.

I found the ring in the ditch within minutes! I love my job! I love knowing that I can help. The smile is mine as not many people want their picture taken and story told…We are all human! We get mad, it happens!

Large White Gold Wedding Ring Lost at Manhattan Beach, Found By Metal Detecting Expert, and Returned

Breeze called last night as I was finishing up my dinner. Her husband’s ring had been lost at the beach, and after a thorough search of the area, they were unable to find it. She was hoping I would be able to help. I asked her some questions, and found out that the loss occurred earlier that day, so the possibility of a recovery was good. Also, she told me that she had watched the ring fly into the sand, so she knew very well where the ring should be, which only enhanced the recovery possibilities. I let her know I would be on my way as soon as I got my equipment together.

When I got to the meeting place, Breeze, her husband Kartik, and a friend met me and walked me down to the area of the loss. It turned out to be a secluded area, and then she explained exactly what caused the loss. Kartik had given Breeze the ring to hold while he went surfing. Breeze was hold their dog’s leash in one hand, and had the ring on her thumb of the other hand. As soon as their dog saw Kartik coming from the water back to them, he jerked his leash, which caused Breeze’s other hand to jerk in the other direction, and the ring to fly off. When this happened she looked back to see the ring go towards the sand. It is truly amazing how hard it is to find a ring even though you know where it should be, but that is why I use the best equipment available in order to make that process as “painless” as possible. It took all of about 3 minutes to find the ring and have it back on Kartik’s finger. It takes the ability to ask the right questions, and have the most up to date equipment to make such a recovery possible. I am really happy to make others happy, and this was one of those times.

Lost Ring in Atlantic City NJ, Found By Dave Milsted

While on vacation, I received a call from a fellow Ring Finder, Steve Pacifico. He received a request to find a lost wedding ring, but he was at work. He knew I was at the shore, so he gave me the contact information.

Arrie lost her ring on the beach in Atlantic City. She got up off of the sand to go back to her room, started to brush off the sand from her legs and her ring went flying. She said she spent several hours on her hands and knees combing the sand looking for her ring. She didn’t tell her husband.

I told her that I would be there within 30 minutes. She met me on the beach and showed me the area. I started searching. I showed her everything I found, penny, bottle caps, pull tabs. After about 20 minutes I found what I was looking for.

I wanted to surprise her, so I dumped my scoop back in the hole, made it look like I was still looking for something. She looked away, so I picked up the ring and put it on my little finger. I went over and while pointing said could it be over that way? She said maybe. I pointed again, over there? She still didn’t see it. One last time I may be over there? This time she dropped to her knees and screamed. The lifeguards were all looking at us now.

She said the big diamond was given to her husband from his family. It has been in the family for a few generations. I told Arrie that she should go gamble since it was her lucky day. The smile on her face was priceless.

Teamwork paid off for Arrie. Atlantic City is heavily searched by people with metal detectors. By getting there quick we were able to put a smile on Arrie’s face!

3 Sentimental Pendants Lost In Wildwood Crest NJ, Found By Dave Milsted

Today is my mom’s birthday. She helped me with a recovery today.

Angela contacted me earlier in the week, asking if I could help her find three pendants from a necklace. She was at a wedding in Wildwood last weekend and lost the very sentimental items.

She is a nurse and has odd hours as I do. We decided to meet on Sunday morning, my mom’s birthday. The weather forecast was not looking good with rain and wind predicted before sun up. Angela asked if the rain would be a problem. I told her that I would be there rain or shine.

I got there about a half an hour early, no rain but I did see a beautiful sunrise. Thanks, mom! Angela arrived and showed me the area of the crime. The wedding reception was at the Star Beach Bar in Wildwood Crest. She was around the fire pit, a cabana, and sat in the couches. There has been a lot of wind at the beach this week, so there was a lot of sand drifts around the cabanas and tables.

She said last weekend she and her friends searched, including removing the cushions from the chairs. It’s a good thing as the chairs have been removed for the winter. They also raked the beach. They only found a few coins.

I started a grid search. I expected to find a lot of bottle caps. I was amazed only to have found one. I found a lot of coins. I guess Angela was getting frustrated that I hadn’t found her precious items, so she started to walk around.

I heard a scream. My first thought was an animal came from under one of the cabanas scaring Angela. I went over to find out what happened. Here she found the smallest pendant of the three we were looking for. It looks like the wind had blown all of the sand off of the pendant. It was just sitting on the top of the sand.

So now I had a place to continue the search. The only problem was it was next to the cabana, and it had wood & metal framework. So every time I swung my detector it went off. Angela found a shovel and a rake. I started to shovel large amounts of sand away from the cabana and detect the piles.
Finally, I received a good hit and found the silver pendant.

The last pendant is mostly jade with just a little bit of 14k gold on it. A new strategy, set my detector up to search for gold nuggets. After about 15 more minutes of digging and detecting, we found what we were looking for. Angela was amazed and I got a very big hug. I love my hobby!

Ten minutes after I got into my car for the journey home it started to pour. Thanks for the help mom, and Happy Birthday!!

Seattle Lake Union Lost Phone Recovery

Natalie had just completed a fun day of Hot Tub boating on Seattle’s Lake Union. When she got back to the boat slip, got out of the hot tub boat her phone fell into the water below the dock. She did a Google search and fond me through my listing on TheRingFinders. I came out the next day and recovered her Google Pixel 3 phone just past 20′ of water. Unfortunately the phone was full of water but she was prepared for this outcome and wanted her phone back for the insurance claim. During the recovery dive an older iPhone with some old bank cards and an ID were found. I am in the process of getting that returned to its owner as well.

Diamond Ring found in Corn Box at the Goebberts Farm & Garden Center in South Barrington, IL

So this is my Second call out to a corn pit this year. This was at the Goebberts Farm in South Barrington, Illinois. The owner could not have been more accommodating.

A woman had been playing with her child and fell. The ring came off as she was trying to get up. I can tell you, I fell myself on several occasions during the hunt. I had to crawl over to the pole just to get up! These corn pits are the PITS!!

She had lost it on Sunday and I wasn’t able to hunt until Thursday. The ring sank to the bottom of the pit and I was lucky to recover it. I used my box like device to dig down toward the bottom. I used 2 detectors, a hand help pinpointer and a hand held plastic sand scoop to recover the ring. I am considering using a PI Machine to locate items that may be at the bottom of the corn kernels. She was embarrassed about losing it, so I will not post her photo.

I’m beginning to have a Love Hate relationship with Corn Pits!!

LOVE the money HATE the labor.

Most corn pits are open til October 31st, so maybe more searches will be forthcoming.

….. I received a call from a guy named Ridge asking for assistance to help him find his platinum wedding band. Yesterday, he had been at Victoria Beach one of many coves in Laguna Beach, CA. When he got home he realized his platinum wedding ring was missing. He thought that it had either come off in the surf or when he brushed the sand off his towel as he was leaving the beach.

He was on his way the next morning to search the dry sand where he had shook off his towel, although the most probable area his loss was the surf where he was most active.

Even though it was high tide and it would not be productive to search the water, I agreed to meet him where I could eliminate the dry sand area. At the same time I could get the location for a return search at the next low tide.

When we walked to the spot where Ridge had shook out his towel, I asked him if he had done any activity on the dry sand that might cause the ring to slip off his finger. He said that the only thing he can think of was brushing off his towel. He pointed up a little higher on the sloping sand. 

I turned on my metal detector making a few adjustments before walking up the embankment. I began a few swings of my detector telling Ridge I need to do a warm up before getting to the zone he was sitting. Boom! I got a signal right away,  10 ft. from where I was to start my search. Yes! The heavy platinum ring was there in my scoop when I retrieved the signal from the sand.

Both of us were surprised as the odds that the ring was lost in the ocean were much higher than it being in the dry sand. It was another time that it paid off just to search the location that was available while we had the time to eliminate part of several places the ring could have been lost. Also, he was a very happy guy, because he had really all but given up hope that a small ring could be found in a mass of sand. I hope I never get tired of helping people find their sentimental keepsakes.

2 rings found in corn pit in Tinley Park, Illinois.

Received a call from a man who had lost his 14K wedding band while playing in a corn pit. He had me come out to look for it. Corn pits, for those who don’t know, is a structure, that is filled with corn kernels that people play in. They generally are about 2 feet deep and are very hard to walk in AND very difficult to hunt. As you dig for the lost item, the corn fills in the hole. Its a tough workout!! I devised a box to help prevent that filling in. I was able to find His ring in about 10 minutes. Thats because he called me soon after he lost it. The longer you wait, the deeper it goes and the harder it is to find.

Once I found his ring, the manager of the Odyssey Fun Farm, told me that a woman had also lost her Diamond wedding band the same morning. So I searched for that ring too. I found it within 30 minutes. The manager called the woman’s husband, and he came out with his daughter to retrieve it.

Four Diamond Rings Lost in the Dirt at a Horse Stable in Gardena, CA…Found by a Ring Finder with a High End Metal Detector

I was at home Friday night when I received a text from Kevin. He said that he had lost 4 rings that were very important to him, and wanted to know if I would be able help him. I sent a text back, and asked if he would call me so I could ask him about the loss, which he did as soon as he received the text. When he called I proceeded to ask my litany of questions to figure the best possible way to do the search, and evaluate what equipment I should bring in order to do an efficient search while there. We arranged to meet early the next morning.

We met at the stables at 7 AM in order to search before there were too many people around moving their horses, and complicating the search even more. It was a good choice, because there were few people, and no one in the area I was going to search. Kevin showed me what he had done, and where he had gone during his time at the stables the day before. He had fed 3 horses with heavy bags of feed, and gone into the 3 different stalls. He showed me where he had previously searched when he knew the rings were lost. I began by searching the feed bins, no rings. I then searched each of the stalls with the thick and soft fill used to line each stall, no rings. I then searched the tack shed where there was a good amount of hay for the rings to hide in, no rings. That left the road that Kevin had walked on to go to his horse trailer to search. The road was dirt, but very powdery, and about 4 inches thick, a perfect place for the rings to hide. So I began the search on the road, there was a lot of metal, but because of the quality of my detector, I was able disregard iron, and deep targets, and only concentrated on those signals that had the right tone and VDI reading. I searched about 40 feet finding similar sounding metals to gold (like aluminum). I kept the search going, and then when I got a good signal, I put the pin pointer in and found the first ring. I picked it up and handed it to Kevin. I swung the coil again, pin pointer in, and had the second ring, and the third, and then the fourth. When I handed Kevin the last ring he became very emotional explaining that those rings were his late mother’s, that as her only child, he would wear them on a chain around his neck to keep her memory close, and to lose them was just unthinkable. He gave me a great big hug, and I hugged him back knowing what comfort he had received by getting these rings back, he not knowing if they would ever be found. What a really great day!
