Lost gold wedding ring recovered, found in leaf pile, Baroda, Michigan, Berrien County

  • from Granger (Indiana, United States)

Larry, his wife and some family had been doing some fall cleanup of freshly fallen leaves on the property.
Later in the afternoon, Larry noticed his wedding ring, that he’s worn proudly for 49 years, had slipped off and was now missing.
For hours, they searched, sometimes on hands and knees, scouring the leaf piles for the missing gold band. They tried using a metal detector, but said it was making all kinds of noise on random targets and they weren’t sure on it’s settings or how to really use it.
Larry’s daughter had seen a Twitter tweet about someone’s ring being found by a ringfinder (me) and they decided to look to TheRingFinders.com for help.
The first potential area of loss was where the loads of leaves were being dumped. They had taken some photos during the day and saw that Larry still had his ring on his finger at some point.
I started searching, found several undesirable targets that were under the surface, some flakes of copper and foil pieces on top of the ground, slightly prolonging the process.
I have found many lost rings, often just outside of where they are thought to possibly be.
I got a good strong signal near the back side of the compacted leaf piles. I rustled carefully through the leaves to locate that particular target with my pinpointer. They didn’t expect the ring would be right there though. A brief moment later and I saw the golden edge of a ring at the end of the sounding pinpointer. Bingo! I said. I immediately handed it back to Larry.
I’ve seen many happy reactions from people and families, which is awesome, this was no exception. He was so very happy and gracious to be reunited with his lost ring.
I’m glad I was able to help. Took about ten minutes to find.

Lost cross at Pacific Beach found.

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Reuben called me saying that he had just lost a cross off his necklace while running on the beach in the wet sand, on the slope and in the shallow water.  It was right around high tide when he called, and I was just about to eat some dinner, so, I asked Reuben if he could hang around down there a while so I could gulp down some groceries and let the tide go out a bit. He agreed, and we met at a spot at the north end of the search area around 9:45pm. He explained to me that he headed south from there and was running in a zigzag pattern from the water’s edge to the top of the slope, kind of dodging the surf as it surged in and out. I then asked how far he ran until he noticed it was gone. Well, he had a selfie that he took, at the spot we were standing, showing that he had the cross at that point. He then said that he started running from there and headed south for a good 5 minutes! Whoa, that was going to be a HUGE search area. After more Q&A we decided the most likely area was toward the other end of his run when he discovered it gone after he had jumped over a pile of kelp, but, frankly, it could be anywhere along the way. Ok, let’s start walking to that spot. I figured I’d go ahead and turn on my detector and sweep a bit while we went. I just picked a straight line on the slope about half way between the water and the top of the slope. We walked, and we walked, and we walked some more. Found a few piles of kelp, search all around them, and continued on. I hadn’t gotten one signal thus far. I asked how much further he ran, and he pointed down the beach some more. I was about to say that this was going to be a waste of time as this search area was now almost 1/4 mile long and approaching the edge of Mission Beach (the next beach south), and that I was going to have to get a lot more help to cover all this sand, when we approached another pile of kelp. Searched all around it and continued on a little ways more, when I got my first signal of the entire way. A nice solid 11 on my Equinox. One scoop and Reuben spotted his gold cross (a family heirloom that he got from his father) in the pile of wet sand I just dumped. Talk about dumb luck! We both should have bought lottery tickets right then and there. I’m not sure who was more amazed, but, we both counted our blessings on this one! That potential search area was the largest one I had ever had and would have taken me over a week to completely cover it by myself. We found it in an incredible 20-25 minutes. A pleasure to meet you Reuben and thank you for the reward.

Lost engagement ring in Coronado found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Kari finished her day out in the ocean, and went to her vehicle to put on a dry shirt. She had left her engagement ring in the pocket, and while putting on the shirt, it must have fallen out. Her vehicle was parked in the last spot next to some landscaping that has some ground cover and tall, thick bushes. She looked for it extensively, but, couldn’t find it. She was advised to contact me and when she did on a Sunday afternoon, we made arrangements to meet the next morning, since parking is virtually non-existent on a weekend in this area. We met Monday morning and she showed me the search area. Tiny area actually, but, this morning someone else was parked in that spot and close to the curb. That made a narrow access path to search. No matter, I started out with a big coil on my Equinox hoping the added depth would help in the ground cover and tops of the bushes. LOTS of foil and other junk targets everywhere, which took some time to weed out. I covered the whole area and couldn’t find the ring. We discussed that maybe it was actually in her vehicle and that it might be a good idea to recheck that again. I told her that I was going to go ahead and re-search the area with my little sniper coil so I could get into some tight areas and be able to search right up next to the curb without getting the interference and false signals from the SUV in that spot, that I was getting with the big coil. She thanked me and headed back to the beach with her children. I swapped coils and weeded out a few more junk targets and swept along the curb on both sides. Eventually the targets started to thin out a bit and I got another solid 4 reading which I figured was another bit of foil. Wrong! This time it was her ring! It had been stepped on and pushed into the dirt just an inch from the curb edge. I went back to my truck to get another detector that I was going to use out on the beach and started her way to give her the good news. She had actually gone to the beach, gathered her things and children, and returned to her vehicle to leave. When I approached, I asked if she was heading out, and when she said yes, I told her that if she was, she had to take THIS with her, and showed her the ring. A happy Kari and kids can help continue the ring story. Sorry I didn’t clean it better before returning it, I was going to wash it off, but, didn’t make it that far before I got up to your vehicle. Thank you for the reward.

Lost wedding ring in Grand Rapids, Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

I got an email from Andy K. the other day. He lost is wedding ring while playing soccer with his children in his dads front yard. Before the search we found we had a few things in common, we went to the same high school and his wife was serving in the US Air Force. I retired from the USAF. Andy pointed out the area where he thought the ring might have came of when he blocked the soccer ball. I started my hunt in the neighbors yard as the grass was longer and Andy was standing with his back to the neighbors lawn which told me that is where the ring glanced off his finger. I started my grid search and made a third pass and got a signal on his ring. Reunited with his ring we said our good byes and wished him the best in his new venture.

Diamond Earring recovered in Allendale Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)

My Ring Finder partner, Dave Boyer, called me for some help in locating a diamond gold stick earring that was accidentally knocked off Karen G’s ear while cutting grass on her tractor mower. Karen brushed under a tree branch in her front yard and felt the earring come off. The back of the earring was still on her ear. Dave went out and used his ATPRO with a small coil and Garret pin pointer but could not get a signal after using the other earring as a target. Dave and I went out the following Saturday morning and met Karen’s husband Mark and immediately got to work. I used my Fisher F75 with a 4″ gold finder coil and got a signal on the sample so started a detailed search on my hands and knees making a 4″ grid in the area it was presumed lost. It was very possible that the branch tossed it away as it whipped the earring away. After about 10 minutes on my first forward grid search I got a signal and deep down in the grass roots in almost the exact spot where it came off, I picked out a beautiful Diamond earring. Matching it with the other one made both Karen and Mark very happy. Mark mentioned that if it wasn’t found he would be on the hook to buy Karen another set but it would be larger.   After meeting their dogs, which is a requirement when we go on a Ring Find, we said our good byes and made a couple very happy for Book of Smiles.

Whole set of Home & Car Keys lost and found in muddy Poole Harbour

  • from Bournemouth (England, United Kingdom)
Contact:

One weekend when driving home after an unsuccessful ring recovery, I received a call from a lady desperate for my help. Jenny from Poole had gone to do some shopping at nearby ‘Currys’ but first needed to walk her dog Betsy in nearby Poole Harbor. It was then that the fun and the mud took place!

Just a stones throw from her car there seemed an idyllic spot to quickly walk the dog albeit “a little to close to the shoreline mud” Jenny said. No sooner she released her, Betsy bolted to the muddy waters to chase some birds getting stuck in belly deep mud. What seemed like minutes later & still struggling to free herself, Jenny entered to free her. Still holding her bag & keys etc she managed to pull her dog free, now caked in mud!

After cleaning her down as best she could with some tissues from her handbag it was then she noticed BOTH her mobile phone AND Car Keys were missing! A passer-by saw her distress & was kind enough to call me at the Ring Finders from his phone. She patiently awaited for an hour or so for me to arrive- dog firmly in hand this time. Caked in mud, fighting my way past trash after trash up came the keys from about a foot under! There was no, unfortunately, no phone.

Later when I returned home & cleaned up, Jenny called to say ‘thank you’ & was relieved to find that in fact her phone was in her Van all the time! ‘Alls well that ends well’ even though I’d spent well over an hour searching for it alone!! Because of the hours spent looking for the keys & phone Jenny promised to make a generous donation to the Margaret Green Animal sanctuary. More photos will be added soon.

TheRingFinders metal detector service helped find a lost Gold wedding band in the surf at Oceanside beach in San Diego; CALL NOW 760 889 2751

I received a call from John asking if I could help find his Gold wedding ring that he lost at a local South Oceanside beach while playing football in the waterline. He told me the inscriptions inside of the ring was stamped with their wedding date of over 30years ago!! This definitely meant a ton to him but also weighed a ton on me to give it my best along with the fortitude needed to help anyone as a member of The Ring Finders Metal Detector service here in San Diego.

I told John I had a great chance of finding it at the very next low tide. I could of jinxed myself there! This particular beach is different than most,, The waves routinely crash into the boulders that are retaining multi-million dollar homes and preventing the houses from falling into the sea. There is also usually very little Felspar & quarts grains here to speak of or also known as dry sand in California. Literally it’s a hammer & an anvil at high/mid tide.

“Between the boulders & the surf.”

Fortunately, This so happens to be a beach I first learned how to surf as a kid,Grew up most my life nearby & even learned how to ground balance my first V.L.F metal detector on mineralized magnetic sand well over a decade ago…

So, I arrived to the scene of another lost gold ring,Then began to perform a grid search in the wet line where it was most likely fell off at.

After nearly a half hour I had to give up chasing the tides out until the dead low tide arrived. I decided it was smarter to start searching (The Ring Line) I learned mostly from and where I have found most of my washed up old jewelry..Moments after while swinging my metal detector I was stopped by a very familiar sound that is similar to a gold ring..Sure enough it was Johns lost wedding band successfully now recovered from this hungry ocean spot!  Thank you John for the kind reward. Every penny helps me help others in need.

Every wedding ring has a story that can live on. Don’t hesitate or wait,Time may work against you. The sooner you contact me,,The better the chances we have of recovering your lost precious ring.

Lost Men’s Gold Wedding Band- Corolla – Outer Banks, NC – Found

  • from New Smyrna Beach (Florida, United States)

I received a call from a gentleman this afternoon.  He said that he had lost his gold wedding band on the beach at Corolla. He was concerned that the tide was coming in.  I got some basic information and headed that way.  When I arrived I asked him if he thought it was in the water.  He replied yes.  So I got my waterproof headphones and we headed down to the beach with my Equinox 800.

As I passed the back deck several people started cheering.  I replied, “not yet!”  He got me lined up on where he thought he lost it and I ask him how far he thought the tide had come in.  He said he though it would be 15 to 15 yards in the water.  I started the search.

I hadn’t gone far…maybe a few feet…the sand was barely wet and I got a hit.  It was a strong signal but by his description of where he thought it was, this couldn’t be it.  I dug it anyway and took it up to the dry sand.  Low and behold a gold ring appeared.  We made sure it was the right ring and when I was going passed the deck the people began to cheer again…

I took a bow. 🙂

Mom’s Lazy Boy Comes Clean…..

Once upon a time during covid-19 in a small town and cozy house lived this nice, pictured lady who’s ring went missing. Unsure of where it could be with all the routine changes that took place, she reached out for help. We chatted briefly and when I arrived today I started my ground search along the path where the classy car was parked. Next was the classy car search but nothing was found. Moving to the inside we went room by room, in the bedroom we checked wavvy waterbed along with the heavy dresser and chesty drawers revealed nothing. Searching the living room’s curvy couch revealed nothing. When we sat on curvy couch to take a break the spring squeaks sounded like they said check with chatty chair and tattle table. In doing so, it was revealed underneath in a woodburning that lazy boy talked in his sleep and said steely safe had the ring. Moving to steely safe and opening the door revealed no ring but a note that read…. lazy boy is so soft that he keeps all the jewelry that falls off from those who relax on him. Thanking steely safe we formed a quick plan. Moving hastily in a surprise attack, she jumped on lazy boy and pulled back on his arm, an agonizing screech followed and as my hands were going in to search we heard metal hit the floor! Wrestling lazy boy out of the way revealed this beautiful triple band gold ring! As lazy boy tried to wheedle his way out of this we quickly taped up all the holes where things could “fall” into. All was well again in the cozy house, a happy ending for the lady and as wisps of curly smoke lifted to the sky from the chimney the lazy boy was surrounded by his contemporaries, each sporting a grin, not to teach him his lesson but that a professional tape removal and stitching was in order.

Janet’s Beautiful and Sentimental Keepsake Ring

Janet’s Smile Shines Once Again as She Holds Her Lovely Black Hills Ring!

BRIAN RUDOLPH, LOST ITEM RECOVERY SPECIALIST (LAND, WATER, SAND, HOUSES & VEHICLES) WILL FIND YOUR LOST KEEPSAKE! CALL ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a young lady named Erin who was requesting help with recovering her mother-in-law’s ring that had gone missing four months earlier in the month of August, 2019. Erin’s 5-year old daughter, Journey, was gifted a Black Hill’s gold ring that had belonged to her grandmother, Janet, for many years prior to its recent disappearance. Unfortunately, the ring was lost somewhere on “Grammy’s” Springfield, Virginia front lawn just days after it was given to the little one during a family summer vacation visit from California. I came to learn that the ring had very special meaning to Janet.

THE BACKSTORY

When Janet was 11-years old, back in 1967, her best friend and fellow private school classmate, Kathy Vasil, gave Janet a pretty Black Hills gold ring as a special friendship gift. The keepsake’s design depicted the classic Black Hill’s signature images of leaves, grape clusters and vines, made with alloys of gold with standard yellow gold, as well as green and pink accents. It was quite pretty! Janet had worn the ring for over 50 years!

Over the years Janet’s mother, Charline, admired her daughter’s ring so much that Janet decided to search for an exact duplicate of her gold ring to bless her mom with such a gift. Amazingly enough, with much unrelenting diligence, she found the same item and both ended up with matching Black Hills gold rings! Charline treasured the piece of jewelry up until the time of her death two years later in the winter of 2011. She was only 77 years old.

After Janet’s mother passed away, she decided to hand the ring down to her daughter Krystal Marie who cherished the piece of gold jewelry for the next 5 years. But then, in the month of October, 2016, at the age of 35, Janet’s beloved daughter, also tragically died. She was beyond devastated, her world completely shattered.

Sadly, there would be even more catastrophic events that would take place. Between the years 2009 and 2018, Janet and her family not only lost her dear mother and precious daughter, but she would end up losing her 34 year old son, Jacob Daniel, in April of 2013, and Janet’s youngest sister, Julie, who died at age 47 in the month of April of 2018! No one could have ever imagined such a devastating plot would have to be endured for Janet and family. Tragedy was at every corner of this family’s existence for nearly a decade. It has been a miracle that this woman has been able to survive through such grief and despair. Janet shared with me that she has had no other choice but to cling to her faith in the Lord, for there is no other hope to hold onto after losing so many people that she has loved so much!

This article honors the memory of these dear people who lost their lives so prematurely: Mother Charline, Son Jacob Daniel, Daughter Krystal Marie, and youngest Sister Julie. May these loved ones never be forgotten, ever!

Three years had gone by since Krystal Marie passed away, and Janet decided in August of 2019 to gift the family heirloom ring to her precious granddaughter Journey Danielle whose initials “J.D.” were inspired from her late uncle, Jacob Daniel. When Janet’s son Jason and daughter-in-law Erin brought their family to Virginia to have a summer vacation visit, “Sunshine” (the nickname that Journey and Janet both happen to call each other after years of traditionally singing together the classic song “You Are My Sunshine”) felt emotionally compelled to bless her granddaughter with that special matching ring that had once belonged to Journey’s great grandmother and aunt. It would be something very special to share between the two “Sunshines” throughout the years ahead. Little did Grammy know that within a few days of enjoying the ring on Journey’s finger for the first time, the precious little girl would accidentally lose the keepsake out in the front yard as she was playing with some other children and family members.

During the summer trip, Journey Danielle very much enjoyed wearing the special ring that her grandmother had given her during her stay in Springfield, Virginia. She wore it on her index finger most of the time. But on the afternoon when the ring was lost, the granddaughter switched fingers and the family heirloom ended up on her middle finger which made it more susceptible to slipping off.

Janet was sitting on her front porch step while the kids were playing in the front yard. Before long, Janet noticed her granddaughter whispering something into her parents’ ears. She didn’t know what had happened when she saw some of her family members crawling on all fours searching for something on the front lawn. Nonetheless, she was about to find out. She turned to her son Jason and asked what was wrong. He replied by saying, “Its worse.” He then explained that Journey had just accidentally lost the ring in the course of her playtime.

Little girl Sunshine was very upset and at one point she began to cry knowing how special this ring was, not only to Grammy but also to Journey herself. Janet’s love and compassion for her 5 year old granddaughter was so deep that she looked outside of her own sadness and disappointment for the loss of the ring and decided to go back into the house, open up her jewelry armoire, take out her matching ring that was given to her by her childhood best friend and give it to her daughter-in-law Erin to give to Journey. Erin in turn placed the ring on the grass so that her daughter would spot it and find relief that the ring was back in her care. Janet chose this approach because she felt so bad for her granddaughter, but she also did this for the rest of the family, as well. She didn’t want her family guests, whom she valued their presence so very much, to spend the rest of their summer vacation trip worrying about the ring and be preoccupied with trying to find it on the front lawn. With all of the tragedies throughout the decade, this matriarch of the family just wanted to spend those remaining days making memories with the family, not searching for a ring presumed to be gone forever.

Eventually, Janet’s family had to return back to California and in the months that followed their vacation, Erin felt terrible that the ring had never been recovered on her mother-in-law’s property and that Janet had given her own childhood keepsake to Journey, leaving Grammy with neither ring. She wondered if there was a metal detecting service in Virginia that could provide assistance in recovering Janet’s ring. She searched online and discovered THE RING FINDERS metal detectorist directory. She found my name listed as one of the metal detectorists listed for Springfield, Virginia.

THE SEARCH

Erin and I talked for about 15 or 20 minutes and I answered all of her questions regarding what I do and how I provide services to recover lost items. Her biggest concern was that the ring may have been washed away down the hill of the property and into the street. I told her not to worry about that happening and that my professional assessment was that the ring was still resting exactly in the same place where it was dropped several months earlier. It may have settled slightly below the dirt, but not by much in such a short period of time. She was quite relieved. I told her that I was delighted to help recover this ring and I was excited to meet her mother-in-law Janet.

Erin and I agreed that she would be the liaison between me and Janet and as soon as she contacted her mother-in-law to approve the search, Erin would let me know that everything was in place for me to schedule an appropriate time for me to visit Janet’s property in Springfield, Virginia. Eventually, I spoke with Janet on the phone and I got all of the details regarding the type of ring that was lost and the story behind the lovely family keepsake.

Later that night, I visited the Springfield, Virginia property. It was pouring rain with no end in sight! However, that did not deter me from my commitment to finding the missing ring. Before I began, I introduced myself to Janet and she showed me the probable spots of where the ring may have ended up. Next, I bowed my head and asked my faithful Lord to help me in my efforts to recover the item. Lastly, I pulled out all of my equipment and rain gear from the car and started the wet search in the hot zones that were discussed earlier.

Janet explained that her granddaughter only played in the front yard when she lost the ring. It wasn’t long before Journey realized that the ring was no longer on her finger. Therefore, we were 100% certain that the Black Hills gold keepsake was in fact lost somewhere in the front yard and nowhere else. That gave me quite a bit of reassurance. The front yard was maybe about 90 feet across and perhaps 65 feet from the front door to the street. Because the ring was quite small and it had been missing for over a third of a year, it was most likely covered by a bit of dirt and grass by now. Therefore, I moved slowly and cautiously across my gridlines. Not only did I metal detect on the top portion of the lawn, but I also moved down the slopes and worked below as well. When I couldn’t find the ring in the middle portion of the lawn where Janet had initially directed me to, I switched directions and began a grid search on the right side of the house (if you are facing the front of the house from the street).

The rain was coming down pretty hard at times and yet I fought through the wet weather during the entire search process. I kept moving across that side of the lawn and down the hill and then back up again just to make sure that I didn’t miss a single target. Most of the potential signals that I got were pieces of metal that were too far below the surface to be seriously considered for being the ring I was looking for. However, as I stated before, I checked everything nonetheless, and very carefully indeed. When nothing checked out on that side of the lawn and down below in the areas of grass between Janet’s property and her neighbor’s house, I resolved to begin detecting on the left side of the front lawn (facing the front of the house) and working my way down the side slopes.

One target signal after another, I checked the depth readings on my detector screen and still nothing indicated that I had hit the object that I was hunting for. Unfortunately, the sky would not relent with dumping more rain down from above! I was soaked! Yet, I was determined to recover “Sunshine’s” beloved ring!

Approximately an hour and forty-five minutes after I began the very wet search, I got another decent signal that was coming from the left front side of the property. Maybe 15 feet from the house and just a foot or so from the slope leading down to the driveway, the target signal appeared to be extremely shallow in depth and it was in the VDI (Visual Display Indicator) number range on my detector that I was looking for on my screen. There was also a certain “bounce” to the tone that made me believe that I could have possibly found the ring! Immediately, I pulled out my pinpointer and began to narrow the target zone until that very special moment that I had been waiting for for nearly a couple of hours finally took place! My eyes and fingers laid a hold of the gold that I had yearned to find! The pretty little gold ring was resting at the bottom of the grass and was wedged part way into the ground! I had found it! I couldn’t have been more excited at that moment! I knew that Janet would be beyond relieved that her cherished momento that had disappeared four months earlier would finally be returned to her!

It really was a fulfilling experience to search for something that was on  young Journey’s finger all those months back and now it was finally discovered right where it was lost! Finding the ring at that very spot where it was dropped during that playful time for the young little girl brought such a sentimental thrill for me! This was the very place where all the happy-go-lucky emotions had come to a standstill back in August. It went from a day of celebration and fun to a time of regret and sadness when the ring fell into the grass and was undiscoverable. It was right there, all of this time, from that summer afternoon in front of Janet’s house until two weeks before Christmas!

It gave me such gratification to my soul knowing that I was continuing the story of this ring for Janet and her family, especially knowing how much grief this woman had already gone through with the loss of both her mother and daughter who had both held possession of this very ring. In addition to the loss of Charline and Krystal Marie, as shared earlier, more pain was added with the passing of Janet’s son Jacob Daniel and sister Julie. Finally, with the return of this ring, there would be hints of sunshine peeking through the thick shades of darkness and dispair in Janet’s world! Something happy had just taken place.

That night, Janet would be surprised with the return of her beloved ring! She began to cry so beautifully out there on her front porch when I revealed to her what I had found deep in the grass on her front lawn! Watching those tears fall from her eyes onto her cheeks was worth every bit of the time I spent searching for the lost ring when the sky above cried its own tears during that cold and wet winter night! What a special time it was!

Janet’s daughter-in-law, Erin, who had originally called me to request my help in finding the lost ring, was equally moved emotionally by my successful recovery of Janet’s lost keepsake. She was so grateful. I shared with Erin on the phone and by text message just how happy I was to be a part of this reunion between Janet and her lovely Black Hills gold ring. It was Erin that made all of this possible!

I know without a doubt that Charline, Jacob Daniel, Krystal Marie, and Julie would have been so happy that this ring was finally back on the loving finger of their beloved family member after all that time gone missing. Perhaps their smiles were shining so brightly that night for their sweet Janet of Springfield, Virginia – the woman who they felt such love from during their brief years upon the earth, and the woman who will always be loved, cherished and remembered by her most treasured family…both near and from afar.

THE BLACK HILLS JEWELRY HISTORY

Black Hills gold jewelry is a type of jewelry manufactured in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was first created in the 1870s during the Black Hills gold rush by a French goldsmith named Henry LeBeau, who is said to have dreamed about the design after passing out from thirst and starvation. Black Hills gold jewelry depicts leaves, grape clusters and vines, and is made with alloys of gold with standard yellow gold as well as green and pink gold. In 1980, the Eighth Circuit affirmed an injunction, ruling that if a manufacturer was to call its jewelry, Black Hills gold, then it must be made in the Black Hills. The state of South Dakota designated Black Hills gold as the official state jewelry in 1988.

The designs use grapes, grape leaves and grape vines and are easily recognizable for their distinctive colors. Silver is alloyed with yellow gold to produce the green hue, and copper alloyed with the yellow gold to make the red or pink gold. The jewelry was originally made with South Dakota mined gold but in more recent years, since the closure of the Homestake Mine, the gold is sourced elsewhere.
