Catherine called to see if I was available to come to the beach and help find her husband’s lost wedding ring. They had been playing football near the dunes when the ball struck Eric’s hand, sending the ring flying into the sand. Despite searching on their own, they couldn’t find it and decided to give me a call.

About 20 minutes later, I met them on the beach, and they showed me the area where they believed the ring had come off. I carefully searched the spot but came up empty. While talking with everyone who had been there that day, one of their friends mentioned she thought the ring may have landed about 20 feet farther south from where we were searching.

I walked over to the new area and started detecting. Within moments, I got a strong signal. Sure enough, she had been standing almost directly over the missing ring the whole time! A quick scoop of sand revealed the wedding band, bringing an immediate smile and a huge sense of relief.

Recoveries like this are a great reminder that every little detail matters. Sometimes just one extra piece of information is all it takes to turn a frustrating loss into a happy ending.

Julie got in touch with me about helping recover her husband’s lost wedding ring. She explained that they had a very good idea where it had been lost. He had placed the ring in the cupholder of their beach chair for safekeeping, and when they packed up for the day, they accidentally left it behind. Fortunately, they knew the exact location where they had been sitting.

I told Julie I’d head right over. We met at the dune walkover, and she had the area marked perfectly. After she showed me the spot, I fired up my detector and began searching. Just a few swings later, I got a solid signal. One scoop of sand later, her husband’s wedding ring was safely in my scoop.

Julie was amazed at how quickly I was able to recover the ring, and it was another happy ending to what could have been a very stressful day at the beach.

At Julie’s request, no photos were taken or shared to protect her family’s privacy.

Lagoon Ring Tragedy, Loveladies LBI, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Alexandra sent me a text asking if I could come to Loveladies on LBI and recover her custom ring that she had lost in the lagoon. She explained that the tide was coming in quickly, the water was about chest-deep, and she believed the rings were only about 10 feet off the dock.

Knowing the rising tide could make the recovery much more difficult, I jumped in the truck and headed straight there.

When I arrived, Alexandra showed me the exact area where she thought the rings had slipped off. I entered the water and thoroughly searched the entire area she pointed out but came up empty. I expanded my search 15 to 20 feet in every direction, then worked closer to the dock and even a little farther out, but still nothing.

With the tide continuing to rise, I decided to push out as far as I safely could. The water was now about chin-deep, and I was barely able to keep my footing. Roughly 15 feet farther from the dock than where Alexandra had originally indicated, my detector gave off a beautiful high tone. I knew immediately I had found one of her custom rings.

Because the water was so deep, I had to drag my scoop back into shallower water before I could dig through it. A moment later, there it was—Alexandra’s custom ring safely sitting in the scoop.

Alexandra was incredibly lucky. Had the ring been just a little farther out in deeper water, the recovery would have had to wait until I returned with my scuba gear. Timing was everything, and thankfully we got there just in time.

Wedding Band Missing, Longbranch NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

  • from Lavallette (New Jersey, United States)

Long branch New Jersey ring recoveryJersey Shore ring Finder Around 1:00 in the morning, I noticed an email on my business page from Omar about a lost ring. I sent him a quick text to get some basic details and asked him to give me a call since it would be much easier to discuss everything over the phone.
Omar explained that they had spent the day at the beach, and his ring had disappeared. He believed it was either where they had been sitting or somewhere along the mid-slope down near the waterline. Since low tide was approaching overnight, I told him I’d head out first thing in the morning in case the ring had already started moving toward the surf.
When I arrived, I used the photos Omar had sent along with the beach access paths to line everything up. The tide was nearly at its lowest point, giving me the best chance of success. I began searching the entire area where he believed the ring had been lost, carefully covering the slope from top to bottom. Despite a thorough search, I wasn’t finding anything.
Something kept telling me to move a little farther south. Trusting my instincts, I shifted my search just a couple of paths over. Almost immediately, I got a deep, solid signal. One scoop later, there was Omar’s ring resting safely in the bottom of my scoop.
Omar was beyond happy to get his ring back. This recovery is another great reminder that calling NJ Ring Finder as soon as possible gives you the best chance of a successful recovery. Getting to the beach before the tides and crowds have a chance to move or bury a lost item can make all the difference.

Engagement ring lost in the ocean Mantoloking, New Jersey recovered by Edward Trapper NJ Ring Finder

A beautiful day at the Jersey Shore suddenly turned stressful for Jordan and her husband when a simple moment turned into disaster. had taken her ring off before going into the ocean and handed it to her husband for safekeeping. When she came back from her swim, he began putting the ring back on her finger when somehow it slipped free, dropped into the surf, and instantly disappeared beneath the waves.

Jordan immediately contacted me, Edward Trapper of NJ Ring Finder, and I assured her to stay calm. I asked about the tide and explained that our best chance for a quick recovery would be to search during the next low tide.

When I arrived, there were dozens of people searching for the ring. Everyone had a slightly different idea of where it had fallen, so I had to do some detective work to narrow down the most likely location. I searched the entire slope of the beach and worked my way out into waist-deep water, but despite covering a large area, I came up empty-handed.

Jordan and her husband were understandably devastated. Before leaving, I promised her I would return first thing the next morning at low tide and give it another shot.

The next day, thunderstorms threatened the area, so I kept a close eye on the weather. Metal detecting on an open beach is never worth the risk when lightning is nearby.

After a short while, I heard a beautiful signal—one that immediately gave me confidence. I dug down more than 8 inches into the sand and there it was: Jordan’s precious ring!

The day before, the ring had likely settled too deep for my detector to reach. After a full tide cycle, enough sand had shifted away that the signal came through loud and clear.

Jordan had already driven home the previous day, so I called her with the good news. That evening she made the trip back to the shore, where she was reunited with her ring less than 24 hours after it was lost.

Another happy ending and another reminder that sometimes persistence—and a little patience—makes all the difference.

The family had been enjoying a beautiful day at the beach the day before. For safekeeping, his daughter placed her ring in the cupholder of their beach chair. At the end of the day, they packed everything up and headed home. It wasn’t until they got back that she realized the ring had been left behind in the chair.
They immediately returned to the beach and searched the area for quite a while but had no luck. That’s when Robert decided it was time to call a professional—Ed Trapper, NJ Ring Finder.
We originally planned to meet that evening, but our schedules didn’t line up. I wasn’t too concerned because I knew the area isn’t heavily detected, so the chances of someone else finding the ring overnight were very slim. We agreed to meet early the next morning before beachgoers and swimmers began setting up for the day.
When I arrived, Robert and his family had done an excellent job marking the search area with sticks, making it easy to locate the exact spot. I started by making a pass around the perimeter. About halfway down my second search lane, I got a perfect signal. One scoop later, there was the ring, safely sitting inside my sand scoop.
The smiles and relief on the family’s faces made the early morning trip well worth it. Another treasured piece of jewelry was back where it belonged, making for another successful recovery by NJ Ring Finder.

Wedding Ring Flew Into Sand, Seaside Heights NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Seaside Heights, New JerseyMetal detector for sale

Just after noon, I received a message from Jayden asking if I could come help find his wife Gabrielle’s ring, which had flown off into the sand while she was applying sunscreen.
The beach was absolutely packed with holiday weekend crowds. I told Jaden the most important thing was to secure the area where they believed the ring had landed and even keep a little extra space around it so no one would set up right next to them or unknowingly move the ring deeper into the sand. I let him know I was on my way and gave him my ETA.
When I arrived, Jayden showed me exactly where they had been sitting. Their blanket and beach gear were still in place, and he explained that Gabrielle’s ring had flown off toward the right side while she was rubbing in the sunscreen. I had them move everything out of the search area, fired up the detector, and within just a few swings I heard the unmistakable signal. One scoop later, Gabrielle’s ring was safely back in my hand.
They were absolutely amazed that it was found so quickly. After searching on their own and seeing how crowded the beach had become, they had given up hope of ever seeing the ring again. It was another happy ending and another priceless piece of jewelry returned to its grateful owner.

Engagement Ring Vanishes , Seaside Heights NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Seaside Heights, New JerseyCall ring Finder I received a call from Dean, who was very anxious to see if I could help find his wife Teanna’s lost engagement ring.
They had been enjoying a beautiful day at the beach, and at one point Teanna had placed her engagement ring in the cup holder of their beach chair for safekeeping. Later in the day, they decided to move closer to the water. Their son grabbed the chair and dragged it down the beach, not realizing the ring was still sitting in the cup holder.
A short time later, they suddenly remembered the ring. They checked the cup holder, but it was empty.
Dean searched for help online, found my contact information, and gave me a call. I told him I could be there within the hour. He was relieved because Teanna, who was nine months pregnant, was understandably very upset, especially on such a blistering hot day.
When I arrived, Dean met me on the beach and showed me where they had originally been sitting. I carefully searched the entire area but came up empty. He then explained how the chair had been dragged down the beach and showed me the exact path. I searched back and forth from the original spot all the way to the waterline, but still no ring.
At that point I knew something wasn’t adding up.
I returned to the original area and expanded my search pattern, thinking maybe the ring had bounced farther than expected. Still nothing. I headed back toward the water and continued searching the chair’s path. About two passes later, I got a beautiful signal that I was almost certain was Teanna’s engagement ring.
Sure enough, there it was—resting safely in my scoop.
The relief on Dean and Teanna’s faces was immediate. They were incredibly grateful to have the ring back, and knowing that such an important piece of jewelry would stay with their growing family made the recovery even more rewarding.
There’s nothing better than being able to help someone in a situation like that.

Nexklace Vanished Into Beach Sand, Spray Beach LBI, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

  • from Lavallette (New Jersey, United States)

Jersey ShoreRing Finder  Brandy called asking if I would be able to come to the beach and help her and her daughter find a necklace she had lost earlier that day. Since I wouldn’t be able to get there until well after dark, I asked if she knew exactly where it had been lost. She assured me they had marked the entire area with sticks and were confident it had fallen out of a pocket inside her beach bag.
After a long day, I finally arrived at the beach that evening. I had called Brandy with my ETA, and it worked out perfectly that she was able to meet me there. As we walked out to the search area, I was impressed with how well they had marked the location. Even in the dark, it was easy to identify exactly where to begin.
Brandy explained that she had taken her necklace off, placed it inside a pocket of her beach bag, and sometime later it must have slipped out into the sand without anyone noticing.
We marked out a search area of about 20 by 20 feet and I began a slow, methodical grid search. Because it was such a fine necklace, I had my detector’s sensitivity turned up very high so I could hear even the faintest signals. Partway through the search I got a very weak signal and was convinced I had found the necklace. Instead, it turned out to be the metal tip from a makeup brush.
After searching the entire grid without success, I decided to change my approach and perform a cross-grid search from a different direction. As I passed back over the same area where I had found the makeup brush tip, I heard another very faint signal. This time, after carefully scooping the sand, there it was—Brandy’s beautiful necklace.
Brandy and her daughter were absolutely amazed. We had already covered the area once, and they were beginning to lose hope. Fortunately, patience, experience, and searching from a different direction made all the difference.
It’s a great reminder that sometimes the first search isn’t enough. Never give up.

I got a call from Lauren, who was noticeably upset because she had just lost her wedding set in the ocean. I told her to try to stay calm, that I would head out immediately, and asked her to mark the location on Google Maps using her cell phone so we could pinpoint the area as accurately as possible.

When I arrived, I met her husband in the parking lot and we talked as we walked down to the beach. He explained exactly what had happened and how Lauren’s rings had slipped off in the surf. With the tide coming in quickly, I knew time was not on our side.

I headed straight into the water and began searching as low on the beach as I safely could. In about waist-deep water, almost immediately, I heard that beautiful signal every detectorist hopes for. A quick scoop later and there it was—Lauren’s wedding ring!

I checked the same area again, and just inches away I got another strong signal. This time it was her engagement ring.

The entire beach erupted in excitement. Several people had been watching the situation unfold, and within moments what had started as a heartbreaking day turned into an incredible recovery. Lauren went from tears and panic to smiles and relief in a matter of minutes.

There’s nothing quite like handing someone back something they thought was lost forever. Moments like these are exactly why I love what I do.
