Lost Wedding Band Found! Doylestown PA John Favano

Mark lost his wedding band while splitting wood in his backyard this past weekend.  He removed his gloves a few times during the process and thought the ring must have come off that way.  He searched the area for a few hours and even went as far as to disassemble the cord of wood to look for it. I received a call from his wife Lindsay yesterday who told me about the situation, and we planned to meet today.  After a few passes with the Equinox, I found the ring in the soil under a pile of leaves. The ring is now back where it belongs!

Lost Cross in Haddonfield NJ Found By Dave Milsted

Kim called me earlier in the week; She wanted to know if I would be able to find a small gold cross. Her son Quinn was playing football in a schoolyard field. A girl had grabbed his collar and got a hold of his chain with a gold cross on it. They have the chain, but the cross is missing. The cross was given to him from his grandparents for his First Holy Communion, very sentimental.

We met after school on Friday. Quinn showed me the area of the field he believed that he was in when the chain was broken. I didn’t think we would have any luck finding it as there is very little grass on the field. It looks well used. I was fearful that another kid found it and didn’t turn it in. Kim already contacted the janitor of the school and he didn’t find it, and no one turned it in.

I started a grid pattern. I had a lot of little friends following us around. They have hundreds of questions. Every time the detector beeped, they all would ask, “Is that it?” Quinn would get on the ground and say please, please be it. After about an hour, Quinn had to leave for lacrosse practice. I told Kim that I would let her know if I found it.

When they left, the other kids left too. I was by myself. Five to ten minutes later, I got a good tone. I looked down and could see a gold loop. I found the cross. See the 1st picture. I took a few pictures and texted them to Kim.

She called me and decided to keep it a secret. We would meet sometime on Saturday and surprise Quinn. We decided to meet at the Westmont Party Store. We would make it look like a chance meeting. We caught it on video. The look on his face when I finally told him that I found it was priceless!!

Lost Gold Ring on a Hillside at a Newport Beach Residence .. Recovered

Jim was at a Newport Beach residence,  while in the backyard patio when he made a movement with his hand similar to throwing a frisbee. His gold ring went flying off his finger down the steep hillside into the thick landscaping.

This was the second time Jim had called me for help within a month. The first time he was able to locate a ring lost in the house after I gave him a handheld metal detector known as a pinpointer to use.

The loss occurred within a few miles of my base location, it did not take long to meet Jim. When I arrived at the location it was for this search it was a surprise to such a steep hillside with dense landscaping. It would have been easy to not even attempt to search this area. 

I often say “I Will Try Anywhere.” This time I put a small 6” search coil on my metal detector beginning a grid search through the less dense foliage. Second stage of the search would require getting down on my hands and knees to use my pinpointer in areas the 6” coil cannot reach.

The ring was found at the base of a tree before I had to resort to crawling through bushes. Jim was standing very close to me when I located the ring. He looked at me with astonishment as I showed him the ring laying in shrubs next to the tree trunk.

Knowing that the ring was definitely in the general location, staying  positive and trusting in my equipment made this search successful. There were a couple large clumps of bushes that could have been impossible to search. 

It was a pleasure to help Jim.

Lost White Gold Wedding Set (3) Ring with Diamonds Found in The Snow in St. Clair Michigan

While tending to the chickens and running errands during the wet snowy weather in the Detroit area this past week, this pictured lady’s ring came off. Quite eggsqusite it was and they had taken a lot from their nest egg to buy it.
They decided to wing it and searched around the cluck hoping to bring the ring back from eggs-isle. By fryday their henthusiasm turned to brooding and ruffling of feathers. Finding it seemed as scarce as hens teeth. Feeling mislaid, thinking this isn’t what it’s cracked up to be and that the ring flew the coop, they decided to take it to the nest level, hatched a new idea and said cluck it, let’s reach out to someone with more eggspertise. We decided to meet today at 8 o’cluck and when I got there it didn’t seem that anybroody was around. Circling around the back the couple appeared. They thought it was an eggselent idea to eggsplore the hentrance of the coop and henhouse where she felt it slipped off and the brood scrambled it, but my MXT squawked over targets that were less than chicken feed. I said eggscuse me?… as they crowed I was a bit cuckoo when I eggsclaimed let’s look at the big peckture and search the perimeter of the coop. Searching the 3 sides and closing in on the end of the 4th, anticipating fowl language with nothing to crow about, the MXT gave out a roosting call that really layed it on the line. In one fell swoop into the snow with my Garrett carrot we exclaimed mother clucker there it is!! as it revealed this nested, gorgeous white gold wedding set (3) ring at the same time the hens cried fowl, letting out broody growls and cackles scolding us for tempting them with that carrot and blaming them for losing the ring. The couple was eggstremely happy the ring came home to roost. Lastly, suggesting it would crack me up to see them do the funky chicken they said it would be hentertaining to do so, and it was….. poultry in motion!

Katy contacted me yesterday about a ring she lost the night before. It was her wedding ring. She had been shaking her hand in the driveway when both her wedding ring and engagement rings flew off of her finger into the grass next to the driveway. She and her husband searched for the rings, and were able to find the engagement ring, but not the wedding ring. I was finishing up breakfast, and let her know I would be there as soon as I got my equipment together, and hopped on the road. Katy was not going to be able to be there, but had a babysitter that I would be able to give her ring to when it was found.

When I got to the house I let the babysitter know that I was going to begin my search. Katy had sent me some pictures of the area along with some explanation of what had happened which helped to focus the search area. I began where she had marked the asphalt showing where she had been standing while shaking her hand, and worked out from there. From what she had told me I figured she had been facing the street, and shaking her hand out towards the grass, so I focused my search out in the yard, and into a planter that was in the middle of the yard. I then began to work out towards the street in the grass. The ring was not there, so I went back to the starting point and started working in the opposite direction back towards the fence line, when about 12 feet back I got a nice solid signal, and looked down to find the ring sitting on the surface, waiting for a lawnmower to come along and destroy it. Katy was not able to be there for the return, so I got in the photo instead. She did let me know how happy she was that the ring was found. I do enjoy reinstating smiles for people!

White gold and Diamond ring recovered in Westminster, Colorado

Heather and her husband were out at their vehicle during one of our snow storms. Heather was brushing the snow off her husbands jacket when her ring slid off her finger  and disappeared somewhere in the snow outside their apartment complex. They spend a couple of hours searching for the ring, even borrowing a metal detector to aid in the search. The borrowed metal detector added to their confusion as it was continuously sounding off.  After doing all that they could do to recover the ring they called me in hopes that my experience and quality of equipment would make the difference. Heather called me, and we talked about the loss of her ring and their attempt to find it. During that conversation we set up a time that night for me to come to their place after I got off work to conduct a search.

As I pulled into the apartment complex that night the snow had been coming down for a few hours and the temperature was falling quickly. Heather and her husband met me at the site of the ring’s loss and once again we went through their story of the loss of the ring. They showed me how she brushed off her husband and where they were standing when this all happened. The search area was small but loaded with shrubs and grasses that were all covered in several inches of snow. I went to grab my detector and Heather headed into the apartment to talk with some friends that had come over for a visit and to go out for a meal. I turned on my XP Deus and made my first swing when I heard a good signal, within a few seconds I had the ring in my hand. Heather hadn’t even made it into the building yet when we were yelling for her to come over to get her ring. She was shocked and EXTREMELY happy, a couple of tears rolled down her cheek as she thanked me.

Russ called yesterday requesting my assistance in finding his wedding ring. He was out in the yard with his son 3 days earlier at about 9:00 PM, when with the flick of his wrist his ring flew off of his finger. Because it was dark he was not able to see which direction the ring went, but was able to hear it hit the concrete driveway and roll. He had spent the last few days raking the flower beds trying to find the ring, without luck. I told him I would come right away.

When I got to his house, Russ took me over to the area of the loss, and I had him reenact what had happened. He showed me where he had been searching, and explained how he had conducted his search. I went over the flower beds with a quick search, not finding his ring. What I did find was that the area was littered with a ton of BB’s from previous target practice in the area, so I went over the area again at a slower pace. Not finding the ring again I began to expand the search area in the same direction of the wrist flip, but was unable to find the ring. I then began to search in the other direction in the flower beds with no luck also. Russ then had to run an errand, so I went totally out of the box and began to search opposite of the sound Russ had heard the other night, and on the other side of the driveway under a bush in the exact other direction I found Russ’ ring. I left it where I found it, so I could show Russ that rings can have a “mind” of their own when it comes to getting lost. When he got back and I showed him his ring he was very surprised that it could have ended up where it did, but was extremely happy to have it back. What a great day!

Lost Silver Ring In The Snow Found In Birmingham Michigan

Squirrelly Silver!

This pictured lady was out in her yard Saturday evening throwing apples in the direction of multiple squirrels digging thru the snow for grub when her ring came off. When we talked we agreed to meet today and look. When I arrived there was about 2 or so inches of snow. She showed me the place where she stood and gave the general direction of her throws. I saw half eaten fruit and where there may have been critters in the snow and started to grid search in that direction. From above, jumping from different trees 2 squirrels were peering down thru the scented pinecones sending vocalesque squeaks, squawks, chatters and bark-like grunts in our direction with more intensity as we approached the food, or were they trying to send a message to my good luck charm Nessie? Fear aside, we marched on!
No metal targets came thru at first so I started to search along a line 90 deg. from the first. Just when I was getting close to the fence my MXT signaled loud along with a high meter read. As I brushed the snow aside this trapped, thick silver ring revealed itself! As I worked to free the ring from the ice the squirrels scurried down the trees and approached closer thinking we were putting more food down. Upon standing, handing her the ring, she held it up for a pic, but as the squirrels looked at the shiny object they quickly zoomed back towards the trees. We laughed and said as fast and zappy as they are we’ll never catch them but we did catch your squirrely silver!

Anthony called last night about 7:30 PM asking if I would be able to help him find his wedding ring that he lost earlier in the day. I don’t think he was ready for my answer when I told him that I would meet him at the spot of the loss the same night. I believe it surprised him that I was available at the moment. I explained that time was the enemy of a successful recovery, and he asked if he could call back. I also let him know that the fact that it was dark now would not hinder the search. He did call back, and we arranged to meet at the beach at about 9:00 PM.

When I arrived I let Anthony know, and we found each other. He then explained that he and some friends were playing football in the sand, and he realized his “tight fitting” ring was gone when they got back to the car at the end of the day. When he took me out to the area, he showed me a large section of beach to search, and I explained that the process is slow and deliberate in order to not miss anything. I then began at one end of the area working my way back in a nice even grid to the other end of the loss area. The thing that made the search easier was that there was very little metal trash. I did get a few bottle caps, a bit of aluminum, and some tin foil, along with some coins but not enough to slow the search down much. The clean beach allowed me to cover the sand quicker than I expected. After about 1 1/2 hours I got a good sweet gold sound in the head phones, dug, and in my scoop was Anthony’s ring. I just held it out for him to his surprise. He did let me know that he was getting a bit discouraged because I was finding things, but not the ring. I find this happens a lot because the expectation level is very high in the beginning, but wanes as the things that are dug up are not what we are looking for. It is then that with experience I continue on without the discouragement, because I know that the process has to be completed before moving on to other options. I was able to give Anthony back his token of commitment given him by his wife on that special day, which made his day much happier.

I received a simple one line email from Rudy, “Can you help me locate a ring I lost in my front yard please?” That’s all it took to get the process started. We had a quick phone chat and the story unfolded with all the necessary details. Rudy told me a few days prior he had his wife’s diamond wedding ring in his hand when his toddler ran up to him. They were on the front porch and he picked his daughter up into his arms to show the ring. In doing so her arm smacked the ring straight out of Rudy’s had. He put his daughter back into the house and immediately started searching the tall shrubs trying to find the lost ring.  Both Rudy and his wife, Andrea, spent the next several days searching inch by inch. They hand search the shrubs branch by branch and hand sifted the needles below and still no ring. Rudy even took out his own metal detector that he had stashed from a long while back. However not having ever used it before it just made a bunch of senseless noice and was of no use. The day before Valentine’s day Rudy was on the phone with Andrea and since she was deeply saddened that the ring was still missing. Rudy readied he had to find a way to get the ring back. After an internet search on how to find a lost ring he found TheRingFinders.com and reached out to me for assistance.

I arrived on Valentine’s day and the search was on! The yard was small but the couple had become object fixated on a specific area in the bushes. They had spent hour over the previous days looking with no success. They did say they never heard the ring fall so there was a good change it never hit the concrete. I did a focused search from the initial target zone and slowly expanding out when I found the ring just beyond their search area. It had been tucked in the grass with some blown in leaves covering things up.
