Wedding Rings Found in Seekonk MA

Last Tuesday, Christine was walking a trail through a wooded area in Seekonk MA with her two daughters.  In a clearing near the path, she bent to brush off her daughter’s jacket, and her wedding band and diamond ring flew off of her hand.  They were lose as she had lost some weight.  Christine thought the rings had flown into leaves and brush that surrounded the clearing.  After searching the area, she couldn’t find either ring.  That evening, Christine and her husband, Bright, located me on the internet at theringfinders.com, and Bright called me for help.  The next day I met the couple in the area and had Christine reenact what had happened the previous day.  I determined that the rings had probably not flown into the brush and leaves but were on the ground in the clearing where they were lost.  Sure enough, Bright found her diamond ring on the ground in the clearing.  Immediately after, I was able to locate her wedding band.  It was a pleasure to help this couple and to see the rings back on Christine’s finger where they belong.

Lost platinum diamond engagement ring

I was contacted early last week by a lady who had lost her platinum diamond engagement ring back in February. She had been feeding the ducks when she lost the ring in the lake. She tried herself to find it and also another detectorist searched, but with no luck.

We arranged a day and off I went to meet her and her husband in Leicestershire. We were blessed with good weather , and after a short drive to the lake, her husband and I were in the lake. Me with detector and scoop, and her husband helping with another scoop. All I was finding was the occasional modern coin and just one piece of foil, a very clean lake I thought.

About three hours into the search and I hadn’t left the water, but I did not feel like giving up just yet. Then I started to get a signal with a very strong iron signal close by caused by the steel reinforcement in a concrete slipway. This was very annoying and quite off putting, there was also quite a lot of algae constantly clinging to my search coil. I noticed when I was moving the algae the signal would move, so the target had to be close. Put my hand in where the target was as I was now getting a double signal so it had to be just under the coil….out it came! “is this your ring” holding it up to attract her attention. She jumped up and ran over, she was so very happy to have that ring back . ” I’m not feeding the ducks ever again” she said.

Her face just said it all! She could not believe it and neither could I. It made my week knowing I had reunited a lovely couple with their engagement ring.

It was a great challenge for me, as water is not my favoured  detecting environment. So bring on the next one!

LOST GOLD MENS WEDDING BAND FOUND AT CAPE HENLOPEN STATE PARK IN LEWES, Delaware

On 09/06/15, I received a phone call from a gentleman regarding a lost wedding band. The gentleman advised me that he was fishing at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Del. when his rose gold wedding ring slipped off his finger and fell into the sand. The gentleman asked if I would assist him in locating his lost ring. I assured the gentleman that I would help him and that I would meet him at the site of the lost ring in a few minutes. I quickly gathered my equipment and responded to the state park where I met the gentleman and he took me to the area of the lost ring. After about five minutes I heard the sound that I was looking for and then recovered the ring with one scoop of the sand scoop. The ring was then returned to its rightful owner. Another fast recovery and another satisfied client. image

Nantucket Sound, Cape Cod takes Ring, TheRingFinders found lost ring and returned it!

High seas and strong waves stripped Mary’s engagement ring off her finger as she waded with her young child in her arms. A day of frantic searching by several family members and other beach goers did not yield a successful find. Not wanting to give up Mary did a search for help on the internet. She found my profile on TheRingFinders.com, gave me a call and E-mailed me with a request for help.

Less than a hour later I was at the beach, asked pertinent questions such as type of metal, time of day the ring left her finger, how deep she was, and where she was. With that information I was about to start my search pattern when a beach goer offered more information as he remembered the loss. OK, I modified the area I was going to search and began. I started high on the wet sand and worked toward the water. On the turn to make the third pass a lower than expected tone was buzzing in my ears. I did not think it was the object of search until I saw one third of the ring’s white gold band shining in the sand – the alloying metal in white gold will cause a lower tone than yellow gold on the detector I was using. But, when on a search I dig all targets! A good practice. I took the scoop, sand and ring to Mary for her to retrieve the ring.

Many onlookers passed congratulations and hugs around. Pictures of smiles and the ring were taken and stories were exchanged. I was even asked if I had found a UMASS ring…lost 12 years ago at the same beach. No, not me. But I will ask around if anyone might have found it. That would be great, to locate and have it returned after so many years.

It is always wonderful when a search ends in success. I really enjoy helping those that can use a bit of luck with the expertise I possess.

Found Diamond Wedding Ring South Edmonton, Alberta.

Chris called me on Tuesday in regards to his wife’s lost wedding ring which was thought to have been in the back yard. As I had other commitments I told Chris that I would be available on Friday evening, and that since the ring was lost in their back yard, it would be safe. Amanda was very distressed about her ring and  I reassured them both that if the ring was there I would find it for them.

Amanda told me she had been in the back yard for a couple of hours with friends, visiting and playing with their children. They then had gone inside the house for a while. When her friends left and after putting her daughter down for a nap, she realized that her ring was missing. Panic set in.

Amanda and Chris looked for the ring but had no luck.  Then Amanda went on Google to check about renting a metal detector.  Our website came up and she contacted me.

Amanda showed me the area in the back yard where she had been. I went to work slowly checking all possible areas in both the front and back yard as I knew how import this ring was to her.  Two hours later, I had to tell Chris and Amanda that the ring was not outside.  Amanda burst out crying. I told them that it had to be inside.  They told me that they had looked every where in the house and so I asked Amanda to retrace her steps.

She told me she had been in the freezer and the refrigerator.  Chris had also taken the plumbing apart in the bathroom incase the ring had fallen while Amanda was washing her hands.

I asked many questions and  Amanda told me she had been sitting on their leather couch.   Chris had already checked the couch but I needed to check for myself.   We turned it over and I checked the inside of the couch, and between the back rest and the cushions.  I then checked around the back support of the couch and found the ring.  I shouted “Bingo”.Amanda jumped out of her chair with enormous relief.

I received a call in the morning about a lost ring in the front yard somewhere. The ring was tossed in the yard by mistake. After they searched for the ring for hours they came up empty handed. I showed up to the address later that day to start the search. After searching for half an hour, there was the ring hidden in the grass away from eye site. They were very happy to have the ring returned back to them.

Lost engagement ring Found at La Jolla Shores

Shortly after returning home from metal detecting for fun all morning with some of my fellow Ring Finders, I received a call from Mariana who had lost her engagement ring in the dry sand at La Jolla Shores. I told her I would meet her there in a half hour or so. I then put my cold drink back in the fridge, gathered my gear, and headed back out for what I hoped would be an easy return. As it turned out, that’s exactly what it was. Mariana had taken her ring off before going into the ocean, but, her hands were slippery with lotion, and the ring fell into the sand.  She showed me the area where she was standing when this happened and after maybe 10 seconds, I got a weak low tone in my E-trac that has said “small gold” in the past. I poked my Uniprobe down about 4-5 inches and found the ring. Mariana and her fiance’ were very happy as they are to be wed the first of August. On the way out, I stopped by the lifeguard stand and thanked them for the referral, then headed back home for that long awaited cold drink! I’m glad I could be a small chapter in this ring’s story and help it continue it’s journey into a full novel. My pleasure meeting you, thank you for the reward, and best wishes for your future together.

Corporation Beach, Dennis, MA Lost Ring Found and Returned

Summer temperatures, light breezes and calm seas are calling Cape Cod visitors to come and enjoy any one of the many beaches. Kathleen and family members were among those answering the call on Wednesday. Fair skin needs to be protected, but the sun screen cream tends to mar the brilliance of diamonds. To prevent it from happening to her ring Kathleen took it off, put in in her bag and gave the bag to her mother. Fast forward to the time to go…no ring was to be found in the bag. A visual search and later a search with an inexpensive hardware store metal detector yielded no results.

It was then that Kathleen reached out for professional help. We met at the beach, I was shown the area, and searched far more than the original area. Several nice ladies and infants were occupying an area in the center of my gridded area. The ladies did move over somewhat, but not entirely off the area I had not yet searched. Not wanting to “disturb” the ladies again, I was headed to my car to get a different detector, one that had different operating characteristics. As I started to go the ladies picked up their chairs and bags and left the beach. I returned to quickly search the area and two minutes later Kathleen was wearing the lost, found and returned ring.

Hugs, smiles and a bit of metal detecting talk led to the attached smile and ring photo.

Lost Engagement Ring Iowa City, Iowa… Found!

I found an engagement ring today for a lady named Susan who gave me a call yesterday. She was at her son’s baseball game on Wednesday evening and was helping the team warm up before the game. She had a baseball glove on and when she took it off and tossed it to her son she thinks her rings went with it but she wasn’t sure.

Here husband Sam and her rented a detector the next day and found the wedding band where she had tossed the glove but no engagement ring. She searched again on Friday but still no luck.Susan and Sam

So she gave me a call and I met them this morning at the ball field. I started out by thoroughly going over the area where the wedding band was found and came up empty. Sam told me they had walked behind some bleachers and stood for awhile beside a building watching the game. So I followed their path and behind the bleachers I got a shallow 12-20 signal on the CTX. Looking down I saw a glint of gold through the grass and knew it was going to be a good day!Susan's ringsThey were very happy and relieved to have her ring back where it belongs.

Lost Engagement Ring FOUND in Severna Park, Maryland!

A few weeks ago I received a call from Tim explaining how his wife lost her engagement ring. He went on to say while she was almost positive it came off while walking their dogs down the driveway. The driveway, which was a good 100 yards or so long, was bordered the entire length on one side by wooded area. She believed it came off in a specific area where she recalled the dogs getting wrapped around some brush, but did not rule out any of the driveway due to the frigid temperatures that day. We made arrangements to meet the next day and Tim and Tara went over the area with me that he described the day before. I’ll let Tara tell you in her own words how things went down, but on a side note to my detecting colleagues….this was actually tough one to find! Reason is that although the ring was on the surface, there ended up being a piece of old “soda can” aluminum directly under the ring about 2 inches down! This means nothing to most of you who read this, but to us metal detecting geeks this spells trouble! A piece of “trash” like this so close to the target(in this case the ring!) acts like a shield to obtaining the “good” signal we would be looking for when searching for gold and/or platinum. I mention this in the event you are looking for something that should “sound” specific in your headphones and you have no luck. I suggest you take a break, regroup and come at the situation in a different manner. It sure paid off for me…….and for Tim and Tara!

 

“I came home from work and walked my dogs as usual. The only difference that day was the bitter cold temperature outside. I came in from my walk and noticed my engagement ring fell off (my fingers shrunk in the cold weather) I tried to retrace my steps but the area to cover was overwhelming, it was getting dark, and leaves were piled high. I panicked and called Home Depot & Ace Hardware trying to rent a metal detector. No one in the Severna Park area rented them-only sold, and they were thousands of dollars. I Googled “metal detector help severna park” and The Ring Finders popped up. We called and Jim scheduled to come over the very next morning at 6:30am (even though he was leaving for vacation that morning). Jim arrived and told me to stop and think, and walk him through my steps. We walked up and down the street and didn’t find anything. My husband and I had to leave for work, and Jim said he would try and stay a few more minutes. He explained if he didn’t find it, he would come back another day to search. My husband and I were preparing for the worst and discussed calling the insurance company.. when mid sentence we got a call from Jim! HE FOUND MY RING! Tears poured down my face! We met to pick it up and I immediately hugged him! Jim is an amazing man! We are so happy we called the site! Jim told us if it was out there, he would find it! He wasn’t going to give up on us! So I want to tell you if you are reading this because you lost something and you want it back CALL JIM NOW!”
