Lost Necklace Pensacola Beach – FOUND!!!

Saturday night was day two of what turned out to be an epic weekend. I had been looking forward to this day for a long time because we got to take my 16yr old daughter Haley car shopping for the first time. I knew how important the day would be to us all so I planned on no recoveries at all. I still had to give Blair a call though when I saw her message to me bright and early. I talked to her for awhile and told her how I could help and she explained about how she had lost her necklace on the beach the night before. She explained that it had a lot of sentimental value to her and I gave her two options. I told her that I would be glad to put her in touch with a friend of mine who could be there that morning or I could come out myself the next day. She said that she was sure my friend was great but there was just something about me that made her trust me. Well that made me feel like a million bucks and I told my wife about the awesome compliment. Once again Jeannie came to the rescue and reminded me that we were supposed to take back the kids after dinner and if I was up for an evening hunt, she would go with me. I called Blair back and she was thrilled and we made arrangements to meet on the beach right before sunset. When we got there, we all said hello from a Covid safe distance šŸ˜„ and they pointed out the area they had marked where they thought the necklace had fallen. I went over and was setting up my machine. I have learned over the years to open up the metals I can hear when the person doesnā€™t sound completely sure what it is made out of. Iā€™m glad I did because less than two minutes later I had a tone that was almost like gold but it sounded clean in my ears. I reached down after moving a little sand and pulled out the necklace. Two recoveries in two days in less than five minutes of searching. Awesome!Ā  As you can see, Blair was also thrilled. Thank you for putting your trust in me. Iā€™m glad I was able to help. šŸ‘

Lost Ring Dauphin Island – FOUND!!!

Friday was the start to an awesome weekend. I had taken the day off from work so I had already spent the first part of the day metal Detecting on my own. I was cleaning all of my gear and I came inside to relax for a minute when I got a phone call from an Alabama number. Taylor explained to me that he and his wife Sawyer were vacationing with their whole family in Dauphin Island when Sawyer accidentally lost her ring. They were pretty sure that it was out in the Gulf but they werenā€™t positive. I was explaining that I probably wouldnā€™t be able to come until Sunday because it was already after 5:30 pm when my wife walked by and heard ā€œengagement ringā€. Luckily for them, my wife is a sucker for any wedding ring recovery so she immediately said, ā€œletā€™s go, Iā€™ll come with you.ā€Ā  I said ok and began moving fast and realized that Jeannie didnā€™t hear the first part that it was an hour and a half away and we were racing sunset. It was a great trip and Dauphin Island is really pretty but when we parked I only had about 30 mins till Sunset and the Gulf was upside down. We spoke for a few minutes and I ran out in the Gulf towards the Oilrig in the distance that was the only marker Taylor had. He said it was chest deep on him so I started walking and it was way out there. Meanwhile my wife, Jeannie had to go move our car because we were in the wrong spot so when I started the hunt she wasnā€™t back yet. I turned around and Taylor gave me the thumbs up that it looked like the right area so I made the first pass in my grid search. The waves were lifting me up and moving me so I knew it was going to be a tough search. I thought about it and I said to myself that I should probably move a step in because of the tide and the fact that Sawyer is really petite and would probably need shallower water to throw the ball they were playing with. Sure enough, I took 2 steps and I got that beautiful Gold sound and I had her diamond engagement ring in my scoop in a record 3 minutes. šŸ˜ƒ. They were so excited and their whole family had been watching from the beach and the condo. One family member told Jeannie as she was running back from the car that I must have been showing off because I was already done. Haha. So glad I could help yā€™all out. šŸ’

Ring lost at Fiesta Island found

Richard spent the day fishing on Fiesta Island. While cleaning some of the fish he had caught, he shook his hands to get some of the fish scales off, and his wedding ring went flying into the dry sand. He spent 3 days searching through the sand in that area, even buying a detector and trying his luck, but, he couldn’t find it. His online search brought him to TRF and my contact info. I met Richard at the site in the late afternoon where he showed me where he was setup the day of the loss. I’ve searched many areas of Fiesta Island before, and could understand why he had trouble trying to find his ring without any real experience using a detector. This area is tough even for seasoned pros. People have been burning wooded pallets and other scrap lumber on this Island for decades. Aluminum cans were thrown into the campfires and pull tabs litter the landscape. Anywhere you take a scoop of sand will result in 4-5 metal objects, so, it’s a real challenge to find just one signal in all that mess. It wasn’t a particularly big search area, but, it was slow going. 1 1/2 hours later, I had run 3 different grid lines over the entire search area, my trash pouch was almost full, and still no ring. I attacked ground zero at still a different angle and got another mixed signal on my Equinox…..the kind I’d been digging for the last hour and a half. After filtering out the sand, and pulling out 3 nails and 2 other pieces of melted aluminum, I finally see a ring in the scoop with the shells and rocks. Sure enough, it was Richard’s ring. Richard was overjoyed and was able to head home and give his wife the good news. A pleasure to meet you Richard, and thank you for the reward.Ā

Ring lost at Ocean Beach found

Lorena was visiting town and enjoying Ocean Beach with some friends and placed her ring in the cup holder of her chair. Time to leave, the chair got folded up, and the ring ended up in the dry sand. A common way rings get lost. Searching was fruitless and Lorena had to go back home up north. She contacted me to ask for my help in finding it. She had planned on returning the next morning to show me the search area, but, having already been a full day on the loose, I had her give me directions as to where she was when the ring fell into the sand. She did better than that. She had some photos that were taken while she was there in that location. Knowing that beach well, I could find that spot fairly easily. Finding the ring might be another thing! I waited until the sun went down so I could actually find a parking spot on a Saturday night. Not easy, but, I lucked into one. The beach was still mobbed with party goers. I made a beeline west toward the water and straight through the middle of search area. Before I got there, I see another guy detecting right through where I planned to search. He didn’t stop for any targets, so, i began my grid. Off to the right was a large group still camped on the beach, so, I started on the left. Made a dozen passes or so without so much as a pull tab. Not a good sign. Somebody (maybe the guy who I first saw) had already scoured the area? At that point, the crowd on the right was picking up and leaving. Great, I can now search the other side before I try to track down the other detectorist to see if he may have found the ring. Still not much in the way of targets until I made 5-6 passes and got a solid 6 on my Equinox. That’s usually a foil drink seal, but, I scooped it anyway as small gold can read in that range. Sure enough, a drink seal. Drat! Moved another 2 feet and got another solid 6 reading. Another juice seal I bet, was what I was thinking, but, after scooping it up, I discovered her ring! As I surveyed the spot I found it, I realized that the other detectorist had missed it by no more than a couple of feet! I texted Lorena that she would have to come back down to San Diego after all, but, instead of having to show me where the search area would be, she could pick up her ring. Lost Wedding Ring Found in Leesburg Virginia Basement

I received a call from a young man namedĀ Zemraan in Leesburg Virginia whose mother had lost her wedding ring inside the house. She was very frantic to locate her precious wedding ring and asked her son to try to find someone who could help locate the ring. I don’t typically get many calls for inside searches but since it was close I figured I give them a visit. After arriving at the home her son Zemraan told me that he had picked up the rings to bring to his mother upstairs and shortly afterwards she realized one was missing. He took me downstairs to the basement where two bedrooms were setup. I initially scanned the Mom’s room and searched every inch of the bedroom and with no luck, then I moved to the next bedroom which was at the bottom of the stairway. After about 40 minutes of searching every crevice, floor molding crack, in/around, and under ever object the ring was found. Very Happy Customer!!

Lost diamond ring in surf, Ormond Beach, Florida….found with metal detector!

Geoff emailed me after searching the web for someone to help find his daughters lost engagement ring in the churning ocean! She had just gotten the ring a few months before and the poor young lady had been crying for the last three days. So many times it happens….folks receive or purchase a nice piece of jewelry and then in a moment….it is gone! In this case they were enjoying the beach, the water and the waves and as they were wading out into the surf all it took was one split second for an unexpected wave to hit them while their backs were turned and BAM!! We all have been hit by these waves and many have lost sunglasses, chains, goggles, hats, ear rings, and in this case…a very beautiful and meaningful diamond engagement ring.

Geoff, the young lady’s father, was also heart broken for his daughters loss and wanted to do all in his power to help find her ring. And as impossible as it may seem, he began to have a glimmer of hope as we emailed back and forth. I asked my usual stream of questions and we decided to meet the next day on the beach two hours before low tide. (I am also very optimistic when someone looses something during high tide because that usually puts the item further up on the beach-instead of way out past the first sandbar where it can be quite rough and much more difficult to conduct a thorough search!).

I met Geoff and his dear wife the next day and we walked out onto the beach where his daughter, four days earlier, had lost her ring. I tried to stress how important it was to try and remember exactly where she was when she lost her ring…and thankfully Geoff answered by pointing to a large hotel and indicated where they had parked their vehicle. Then he went on to show me where they had been in the water and I was very thankful that the area was relatively small. I set out my favorite pink flags, marking an area on the wet sand, to help keep me going in straight lines in and out of the water and then I began to swing my water proof metal detector slowly back and forth. It was a beautiful day and normally these types of searches can take a few hours but within minutes I began to dig signals in the sand. First a coin, then a rusty nail and 20 minutes later up pops a very stunning diamond ring. All I could see at first was a rather large diamond sticking out of the sand and I wondered if I had actually found someone else’s ring. I picked it up and was amazed at how beautiful it was. I motioned for Geoff to come see what I had just found and then I asked them to describe his daughter’s ring. They both quickly blurted out a perfect description and as I opened my hand to reveal the ring, Geoff let out a string of expletives and was visibly stunned in unbelief. He quickly apologized for his language but continued to walk in circles saying how he could not believe I actually found the ring.

It was an honor to help Geoff and his family and I am available to help you!

Ring Lost for 7 Months Found in Front Royal Virginia!

This was a referral from another theRingfinders member; I received a call from a lady in Front Royal, Virginia about a lost ring. After talking to her for a while I found out the ring has been missing for about 7 months and even after a few other detectorists tried to locate it they were not able to recover the ring. I made the 50 mile journey to her home and upon arrival she showed me where she believed the ring was lost. Her husband had been doing yard work and was throwing leaves into the woods next to their property and shortly afterwards realized his ring was missing. After doing a quick view of the property and asking a few more questions I went to work. Within 30 minutes I had located the ring buried under some leaves, but also in between several rocks which may be why others had missed it. The owners wife was ecstatic to have her husbands ring back! This was November 2019 and she didn’t plan on giving him his ring back….at least not until Christmas, wrapped under the tree!! So happy to help Brandy.

Lost Ring and Shark Visit – Gulf Shores, AL – FOUND!

I was so tired yesterday that I didnā€™t even write up the story but the day was totally worth it. The night before I received a call from Angel who was down from Tennessee with her fiancĆ© celebrating their engagement in Gulf Shores. She explained that she had been out in about thigh deep water throwing a football when her ring came off. At least she assumed it was in the Gulf, like most people, she wasnā€™t aware that it was gone until later that day. I agreed that I would come the next day but it would have to be at Sunrise because I was working that day and would have to find it before then. I pulled into the condo at 5:45am after an hour drive and Angel was already eagerly waiting for me in the parking lot. As we walked down to the beach and she explained where she thought it was, I quickly learned that she is just a lovely person and I said a quick prayer for help finding the ring. I got out in the Gulf and it was just awesome. The sun was beginning to peak over the horizon and the water was clear and calm. I was really enjoying myself and before long Angelā€™s fiancĆ© joined her on the beach. I was explaining about the need to dig the occasional coin when I saw movement from my right. It was a small shark maybe a bit over 4ft long and he came right up to me about arms length. He just kind of eyeballed me and said hello and I thought that it was a great sign. I proceeded to do my first search pattern left to right with no luck. I then went into super detective mode and scoured the entire area again the other way going North and South. As I was wrapping up about an hour later I started to get worried. That ring was not where they thought it was. I walked up and suggested that we move some of the chairs around and let me grid off the beach. I could see Angel getting really worried so I tried to stay upbeat. When I was done with the beach, I told her that I wasnā€™t giving up yet so she couldnā€™t either. I told her to think about other areas it could be while I went back into the water and expanded my search west. I was on only my second pass when I got the unmistakable sound of gold. It was such a good signal that I got their attention and they watched eagerly as sure enough I had it in my scoop. There were so many shells it was hard to see until finally I saw a flash of diamond. I gave them a big smile and a thumbs up. Itā€™s the first time I have had to fend off a couple with my metal detector and back away saying ā€œDonā€™t hug me, donā€™t hug meā€. šŸ˜ƒ Luckily, social distancing won out and as they hugged each other and cried a bit, I promised that one of these days I might make it up to Nashville post Covid and I would gladly take those hugs. Until then, Angel, I am so glad I was able to help you two out and I wish you all the very best! šŸ’
