Welcoming A New Ring Finder

  • from Kingston (Ontario, Canada)

Hi folks, I wanted to take a quick minute to let people know that I have partnered up with a good friend, wicked ring finder, and all round good dude, Ryan Pugh.

Ryan Pugh

Ryan started detecting around the same time I did, (just a few short years ago) As we all know the learning curve to knowing one’s machine can be a daunting task. Many hours spent digging trash, & trying to understand what your machine is trying to tell you. We know it takes time to understand how to detect properly, efficiently, and professionally.

Now after a few years have gone by, both Ryan & I have the confidence in our abilities to help people find their lost items, and have done so successfully on several occasions.

Both Ryan & I have been detecting every chance we get when we are not working, or have family obligations (speaking from my personal experience of course), life can get very busy at times.

Over the past year (2023) I have taken Ryan on several of my ring finder expeditions. Considering we hunt fairly often together, which in turn has resulted in Ryan coming, and helping on several of my ring finder hunts.

Ryan expressed a real interest in helping people recover items they themselves had lost, & yet, could not find. He has expressed interest in joining The RingFinders all season.

Recently with working shift work, going back to school “for work”, running a local metal detecting club, taking care of my 2 year old son, & making time for my wife & family, I have found that although I have been able to attend most of the requests that have come my way, I find I have been calling on Ryan fairly often to help out with some of my recoveries.

Ryan has been outstanding, not only has he been willing and able to take on each request, he is always at the ready to drop what he’s doing to go help someone in need. And that’s not all, Ryan’s success rate is very high to date. I have called on Ryan to make sure our clients get the quick, reliable, & professional service they deserve.

Working as a team this past year has worked out not only to our benefit, but to our customers benefit as well. Therefore it only seemed logical to make it official and team up with Ryan here on The Ring Finders to ensure our areas get the best service possible for any potential future clients.

“Thanks Ryan Pugh, and I look forward to seeing how collaborating as a team will work out for us in our RingFinding adventures”, also, Welcome to the largest team of RingFinders on the planet.

Metal Detecting Minnesota Ring Recovery Lost ring Found.

Keith, his family and friends were out for a pontoon ride on a local lake in Minnesota. They decide to stop at an island that boasted a sandy and shallow water swim/play area. He was in the water about waist deep playing football with the kids and playing with the pup. They finished up and boarded the pontoon when he noticed his wedding band was missing from his finger. They got back in the water and searched to no avail. Fast forward a day a two and Keith’s buddy Jeff was searching the internet on ways to find the ring, when he came across the “theringfinders” website. Jeff told Keith about the website, and he called me right away. We discussed the best way to go about the search and decided scuba diving, “though it was pretty shallow water” would be the best chance of recovery. We decided to do a grid search using a 20-foot rope that Keith and Jeff held across the water, and I scuba/searched under the rope. As I finished one spot, they would move 6 feet and we kept this up for an hour or so until I got that awesome tone of Gold on my metal detector. Congrats on getting your ring back!!! Glad I could help out; it was nice meeting both of you. Thanks for the help on the grid search, it worked out perfectly.

Lost ring recovered Minnesota ring find metal detecting

While driving around with her husband, Caitie decided to put some lotion on her hands. She removed her ring and applied the lotion, while trying to put the ring back on, it slipped and disappeared into the car. She searched everywhere and couldn’t find it. She started a google search for help finding her ring and came across “theringfinders” website. She contacted me and I told her this is a little different situation as we can’t use metal detectors in cars. I do however have special lights and mirrors I use to look into crevasses hidden to the eyes. We agreed on a date, time and location to meet, so I could give it a shot. I searched the passenger seat from the front and from the back and I wasn’t coming up with anything but coins. I went back to the front of the passengers seat and saw an old Covid mask bunched up and hidden under the carpet. As I removed the mask, I saw the beautiful glitter of gold – there it was!!!!

Glad I could help out Caitie, it was nice meeting you.

Take care ~

Lost engagement ring in Antioch, CA…FOUND!!!

Bay Area Ring Finders Brendon Chapman… Metal Detecting Service/Call ASAP     925-580-2590

On Tuesday the 11th of October, Matthew text me with a request for my services.  His fiance had accidentally flung her engagement ring into some thick brush in their yard in Antioch, CA.  The two searched the brush and were 100% sure of the location in which it was lost.

Being on another search when I received the call and knowing that the location was secure and therefor the engagement ring was safe, I agreed to a search on Thursday afternoon.  Matthew was great about giving me all the information he could in advanced.  He, nor his fiance, would be available the day of the search.  His father was to be home at the location and would be my point of contact.  The father and I had a nice conversation while I pulled my equipment from the vehicle and got set up.  I turned on my metal detector while we were speaking, I had not performed a noise cancel, nor had I even turned on/put on my headset.  While talking I swung my detector back and forth over the ground near the brush.  I noted the unmistakable tone I new I’d be looking for and looked at the screen to confirm the 7-10 VDI.  I bent down, and Bob’s Your Uncle there was the ring very near where Matthew said it would be.  The whole search took 30 seconds and…We Made The Recovery!!! The ring now has a renewed life and great story for the happy couple.  I wish them great luck with their future!

Lost ring in Sevierville, TN

  • from Knoxville (Tennessee, United States)

Jimmy and his wife Lindsay were visiting from out of state and rented a cabin in Sevierville for their weekend getaway. Lindsay had set her ring down by the hot tub when their little 3 year old grabbed the ring and darted toward the field with grass 3 feet tall. Jimmy went straight out and bought a metal detector and spent hours looking but didn’t have any luck. Unfortunately they had to leave and headed home, at the same time I was on my vacation in VA. When I got the call I had Jimmy take as many photos as possible so i could reference it later on. I made a quick pit stop on my way home from our 8 hour drive but didnt have any luck. I came back the next day and exanded my search area and found it. I contacted Jimmy for a mailing address and sent it overnight, he and his wife were ecstatic. Its such a great feeling to help someone in their time of need.

“I lost my wedding ring!” Gold and diamond ring found and returned to happy couple in Erie Colorado

  • from Longmont (Colorado, United States)

Is there anything worse than having car trouble on the side of the road? Unfortunately, Daniel and Lidia found out that yes, there can be something worse.  About five days ago Daniel had some car trouble on the side of a lonely road in Erie, Colorado and brought his wife out to assist him in getting his vehicle back on the road.  While Daniel was working under the hood, Lidia was standing on the soft shoulder between the road and a local farm field and as the time lingered on, she felt in horror as her beloved wedding ring slipped off of her finger and fell to the ground.  She and Daniel looked and looked and even dug into the ground as they felt it had slipped into a crack of the dry, parched earth but without any success in retrieving it.  They stuck a screwdriver into the ground where they felt it had fallen to mark the location and made a couple more trips out there to try and find it with no luck…

Lidia searched the internet and found her way to TheRingFinders website and after a quick search in Colorado was able to locate me as a Ring Finder in her area.  She contacted me via text and we made plans to meet out at the site where the ring was lost.  I was very optimistic that we would find the wedding ring because they had done such a good job noting the area and pinpointing the exact spot the ring was dropped.  Daniel and Lidia met me at a parking lot across the road and we talked about the story again of how they lost the wedding ring.  I could tell that they were very anxious to see if we could find this symbol of their love and marriage.  We drove over to the site and parked on the side of the road ahead of the place where they thought they had lost it.  I jumped out with my Teknetics T2 metal detector and Garrett Carrot pinpointer and started to grid off the area.  I noticed there was tons of trash in the area and being right next to the road, it was expected.  I decided to pick out the strong shallow targets first then if I hadn’t found it, I would transition to deeper targets.  Daniel and Lidia thought that it had possibly fell into a crack in the dirt and fell deeper as they tried to dig for it.  I was there for about 15 minutes and there were no strong signals in the ‘dig’ area where they had searched themselves but there was one scratchy signal that showed to be about 3-4 inches down.  I decided to dig that target.  With Daniel looking over my shoulder and after removing about 3 inches of dirt, he yelled, “there it is” and pointed to the shiny color streaming out of the brown dirt.

I had found the wedding ring!  I removed it from the dirt and showed it to Lidia who was waiting in their truck.  The smiles were wide on all our faces as she approached us exclaiming she couldn’t believe we had found it.  It is always an amazing feeling when you can return a lost item to its owner after they had given up hope that they would ever see it again.  It was my honor to help them out and I hope to be able to put smiles on many more faces to come.

Lost white gold wedding ring Spokane Valley, FOUND!

  • from Spokane (Washington, United States)

After a few closure searches a Ring Finder might be thinking he is on a losing streak. However today my losing streak stopped. Casey, Stefanie’s husband called me this morning with a request to find his wife’s lost wedding ring. Casey explained to me that the ring was lost in their car. I asked my normal questions of did she feel it come off, and did you look for it. All answers checked out, so I headed over to their house. Casey went over the whole scenario of how the ring came off and it involved a crying baby, some hand lotion and a quick reach to retrieve an item out of the back seat. So in the back seat is where I started my search. I looked up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, and repeat. Your eyes are the detector when you are searching in a car. I cleared three seats and was just finishing the fourth when I had that moment. A Ring Finders recovery moment. I looked at Casey and said “I think I see it”. Casey was in shock and disbelief. So I asked him does it have two bands and he confirmed that what I was seeing was it. I told Casey that the ring was just under the left hand side 3rd row seat on the frame rail. However, the ring was sitting under the ledge of the rail. My fat fingers couldn’t grab it so we were forced to unbolt the back seat. After removing the two bolts and lifting up the seat I said, “I have to take a picture”. Because the ring was sitting on the rail just waiting to be picked up. After Casey went and got Stefanie I was able to place the ring in her hand. Her mourning tears dried instantly and their happy smiles came back. Not even a car can stop a Ring Finders happy ending. Thank you Casey and Stefanie for trusting The Ring Finders to find your lost ring.

Casey&Stephen smiles

Ladies Diamond Anniversary Ring…Found in Flower Shop Madison, AL!

  • from Huntsville (Alabama, United States)

Christina McCree – Lost Item Recovery Specialist…Call or Text ASAP, Anytime 24/7…610-504-6135!

I received a call from my mother-in-law, Virginia, on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021.  Virginia is a florist at a local flower shop in Madison, Alabama.  She explained that her co-worker, Donna, lost one of her rings a few days prior.  Donna’s been married almost 30 years, and this was her 14K yellow gold 10-year anniversary ring!  She was absolutely heartbroken that it was missing.  Donna normally wears it in the middle between two other rings, because it’s very loose fitting.  She was rushing Monday morning when she was putting them on and thinks she might’ve accidently put the loose-fitting anniversary ring as the outer ring instead of the middle one.  She didn’t notice it missing until she was headed home for the day and only felt 2 rings on her finger instead of 3.

Donna’s ring had the potential to be lost in a couple of places.  Before she went to the flower shop, she cleaned a house.  Then when she got to the flower shop, she was in the main shop, basement, and 4 other suites.  As mentioned prior, Donna lost the ring on Monday and I wasn’t aware of the loss until Wednesday.  I told them not to throw anything away, but unfortunately, some cardboard boxes that held silk flowers were already tossed out.  Further, the garbage truck had already came by and emptied out the dumpster.  We were hoping and praying that Donna’s ring was somewhere in the suite Virginia worked and where the silks are stored.  I offered to conduct a search after work on Wednesday, but due to scheduling conflicts, it would have to wait until Saturday.

I drove out to Heritage Florist and Gifts on Saturday morning, January 30th, 2021.  Donna met me at Virginia’s suite.  We walked a couple of feet in the main walkway of the suite.  I noticed that there were numerous shelves with flower baskets to search.  This was going to take a while, but I was planning to scan everything to rule out all possible areas her ring could be.  I also noticed how dark it was and knew I would need to grab my headlamp.  Donna was showing me what she was doing with the silk flowers.  I think I began telling her that loose fitting rings have the potential to stay on for long periods of time without falling off.  Just as I was mentioning that, Donna glanced down at the floor and off to the side by one of the shelves was her ring!!!  As with most recoveries, there was pure joy, excitement, and relief.  Donna gave me a big hug and thank you!  I’m always happy to help!

I still can’t believe that her ring was just laying there on the floor all week.  It also could’ve been in one of the flower silks and was knocked loose and fell sometime during the week.  We’ll probably never know for sure, but Donna has her beautiful anniversary ring back and that’s all that matters!
