Lost Gold Ring Recovered Prior Lake Minnesota

  • from Twin Cities Metro (Minnesota, United States)

Elizabeth and her daughter were at a friends lake house, relaxing and hanging out on the dock. Her daughter jumped into the water and asked if Mom would join her. After a little back and forth, she decide to jump in for a dip. Elizabeth took her gold ring off for safe keeping, but she fumbled it a bit and it dropped straight through the deck boards into 9 feet of water. This ring was special as she melted down a couple of other rings to make one special ring with her daughters birth stone. They tried their best to recover it, though it was just too deep and soon it disappeared into the sandy bottom. Elizabeth searched the internet for help and came across theringfinders.com and contacted me. We discussed the scenario of what happened and set up a day & time for the search.  Liz’s daughter pointed out exactly where it should be, and she was right on the spot! Recovered in about 15 seconds. Thanks for your help.

Happy I could help out, it was nice meeting both of you – Take care.

LOST A RING?

DON’T WAIT

CALL JOHN

I had just finished an engagement ring recovery in Ocean City, NJ. As I was packing up my gear, the phone rang. It was Annie, who had posted on Facebook that her daughter, Nia, had lost a sentimental gold cross on the beach while watching the sunrise. I told Jackie that I was only ten minutes away and offered to give it a try. Nia wasn’t sure exactly where the cross had come off, so I knew it might be a longshot. Undeterred, I headed to their location.

When I arrived, Nia gave me more details about where she had been sitting. With that information in mind, I started the search from the beach entrance and worked my way down towards the water. After crossing the entrance mat, I got a nice tone on my metal detector! I dug into the sand, and my heart raced as I saw the glint of gold. It was the cross! I called out to Nia, and as I handed her the cross, I could see the joy and relief in her eyes. She was so happy to have her beloved cross back. It was a great day in Ocean City, NJ, and I was thrilled to have made it a little brighter for Nia and her mom.

The Cross in the Sand Brigantine NJ

Juan had been looking forward to his weekend at Brigantine Beach for weeks. The sun was high, the ocean breeze perfect, and the wide stretch of sand made for the ultimate soccer field. With friends visiting from out of town, he kicked off his sandals and joined a fast-paced game near the dunes, laughter and shouts blending with the rhythm of the crashing waves.

But after a slide tackle into the soft sand, Juan sat up with a sinking feeling. He reached for his chest instinctively—his gold cross was gone.

The game came to a stop as everyone joined in the search, scanning the golden grains around the makeshift soccer area. Minutes stretched into an hour. Juan’s heart ached; he had worn that cross every day since he was young. It wasn’t about the gold—it was what it represented.

Defeated, with the joy of the day slipping away. That’s when someone nearby mentioned Ring Finders South Jersey—that John specialized in finding lost items on the beach using metal detectors. With nothing to lose, Juan made the call.

Within the hour, John with his metal detector in hand. Juan showed him the general area, and the search began. The beeping of the detector was like a heartbeat of hope.

Forty-five minutes later, the cross was found in the sand in Brigantine, NJ.

Wedding Ring found in Fairway KS

  • from Kansas City (Missouri, United States)

Don’s wife contacted me through The Ring Finders to find her husband’s lost wedding ring.  She wasn’t as enthusiastic as one might expect and upon arrival at their home I realized why.  Turns out Don lost his ring about 6 weeks prior and never said anything to his wife, so she wasn’t very happy.

Don told me that while doing some work on their backyard landscaping, he felt the ring slip off his finger.  He was quite confident that he’d find it by just searching but after several hours he wasn’t successful.  He had the idea to search for it at night with a flashlight, but still no joy.  Eventually, he gave up but hadn’t told his wife yet.  When she found out, she sprung into action, found me in our directory and shortly after I was at their door.

Don was very specific about the location where he lost it, a spot with bushes and mulch.  Within 1 minute of turning on my detector, the ring was in his hand.  Likely, in his attempt to find the ring, he inadvertently covered it up even more by moving the mulch.

As I was departing, he thanked me for helping “save” his marriage.  I don’t know if it was quite that drastic but he was obviously very relieved and grateful to have it returned.

Family heirloom diamond ring found – Orange Beach, Alabama

My Sunday started out with my BFF and detecting buddy Cheryl Clark of Gulf Shores and I attending church followed by a lovely fellowship lunch where we indulged in some delicious homemade goodies. Afterward, we set out for one of our favorite detecting honey holes …. Only to arrive there and realize that one of us (I’m not naming names !) had forgotten our detector. Slightly disappointed, we decided to head back home and call it a day.

As we drove to Cheryl’s house, we decided to see what was showing at a nearby movie theater. As luck would have it, something we wanted to see was starting soon so we ran home to change clothes, grab the missing detector since it usually stayed in my car,  and head to the movies at The Wharf in Orange Beach. It was interesting that, during that drive, I was thinking out loud and shared with Cheryl that I felt that there was a reason we couldn’t detect that day and that God must have wanted us at the movies instead for some reason.

With the movie almost over, I saw a call on my watch from an unknown number and a voice mail. Sneaking my phone out, I read a message from Jason that he believed his wife Florence had lost a very sentimental ring the day before …… At The Wharf ! I quickly texted him and let him know that we happened to already be right there and that I would call him back in about 20 minutes. The movie ended and we walked out to meet up with Jason and Florence. They relayed to us that they had attended a car show there the day before. Florence remembered that she had taken her family heirloom ring off to put lotion on her hands, and thought maybe she had it still in her lap when she got out of the car. They had searched the car and the parking lot already and had even had someone at their hotel come take the sink apart in case it had fallen in the drain.

Looking over the vast gravel parking lot, Cheryl and I exchanged a knowing glance. This was gonna be a tough one – almost impossible in fact ! The chances of someone else having spotted it on the hard, flat ground and picking it up seemed high. Nevertheless, we set out with our detectors to search.  An hour and a couple of pocketfuls of pull tabs, bottle caps and miscellaneous metal bits and pieces later and still no ring, the disappointed couple felt like they really needed to set out on their drive back home to Louisiana. We told them we would stick around and look just a little while longer. Just as I watched them drive off, I heard an excited “whoop whoop” from Cheryl and, against all odds, there in her hand was Florence’s beautiful platinum and diamond ring !! I quickly called Jason’s number and asked if they could turn around and come back. I was trying to sound nonchalant but he could hear Cheryl’s excited voice in the background as we were ooing and aahing over the stunning ring. The look on Florence’s face was priceless as she tearfully slipped “Grandma Florence’s” ring back on her finger. She and Jason agreed that our serendipitously being at the theater that day instead of 30 miles away detecting was truly meant to be !

Although I live in Mobile and Cheryl lives in Gulf Shores, we metal detect together often and frequently tag team or join together to look for lost jewelry for folks. So, no matter which side of Mobile Bay you’re on, Cheryl and I just might be in the right place at the right time !
