I received a call from Abe after he lost his 14k white gold wedding band with diamonds on the first day of vacation in Ocean City NJ.  I met Abe at the beach and he said that the ring was in his pocket with his wallet.  When he went to meet the ice cream man he pulled out his wallet while walking and must have dropped the ring in the sand somewhere between where they were sitting and the ice cream man. Several people had been looking for the ring but there search was unsuccessful.  The search area was large and the ring was about 150 feet from where they were sitting. After a through grid and search of the area the ring came out of the sand! Abe came and gave me a huge hug and thanked me! Abe said the ring is very sentimental and was very happy that the ring was found!

Rings lost at Mission Beach Found

Esther called me and asked for help finding her future sister-in-law Gerry’s engagement ring. Reason #2 again! Yup, ring put into beach chair pocket, chair folded up later when they left, and no ring by the time they got to the car. I get the particulars and find out it’s been two days since the loss. That’s an eternity on the blanket line at a popular beach, but, always worth a try. I met Esther at the beach and she directs me to the search area. Since she wasn’t with them when this all happened, I could only get a general idea of where it might be. Esther’s Brother-in-law and future husband of Gerry was on his way to help narrow the search area since he was there at the time of loss. I searched a bit in the mean time, but, only came up with a few coins. That was a good sign however, telling me that it was unlikely anyone else had detected that area lately. The beach groomer hadn’t been through there either, another thing in our favor. Hollis arrived and pointed out the area he believed they had been, and Oh, there were actually 5 rings that were lost! 1 white gold, and 4 silver, so, I’ll be digging just about all signals.

Naturally, there were other people camped right in that spot today! I started searching an open spot next to it while Esther and Hollis went to get permission to hunt under the people’s tent and around their camp. The people were nice enough to allow that, but, no ring came to light. I went back and continued to grid the open area while they tried to figure out where the next likely spot would be. After many passes and getting about 100 feet away from where the rings should be, I was just about to stop and move to search their path back to the car, and the trash cans where they stopped on the way, when I get another good “dime” signal. I scoop and sweep over the hole. Still a signal, so, I dump the sand and take another scoop. Hmmm, two rings in the scoop that look like the silver rings described by Hollis as being the other rings Gerry had lost. I called him over and he confirmed that those were two of them. I swept the hole again, but, nothing. Swept the sand I dumped out on my first scoop, and I get another signal. Yup silver ring number 3. Another sweep and silver #4. To heck with silver! Where’s the gold! Next scoop is where! A beautiful engagement ring comes to light. My first 5 ring recovery! Hollis and Esther are amazed and very happy to see those rings again, and Gerry was too when she was contacted with the good news. A pleasure to meet you, good luck on your future marriage Hollis and Gerry, and thank you for the reward.

Ring lost at La Jolla shores Found

Alec and Liz were visiting here in San Diego and spent the day at the beach in La Jolla. Liz removed her special family heirloom gold ring that she got from her grandmother, and put it in her purse for safekeeping. Well, it must not be too good a place to stay safe as after they packed up and left the beach, they discovered it was not still in the purse. The good news was that it should be in the dry sand. The bad news was that I didn’t get contacted until a couple of days had passed, and the beach grooming machine had already gone through the area. Another possible minus was that it could be in a HUGE area. Not only where they were camped, but almost a half mile of beach they walked to get back to their car. Though I wouldn’t have given good odds on this recovery, I was more than willing to give it a go. Going by a few Google maps, I started at the parking lot at 8pm and walked the 1/2 mile to where they were camped, detecting along the supposed route. Nothing on the first pass. I get to the most likely spot where they had been for most of the day and started my grid. After many passes, I realized it was 9:30pm and that the parking lot would close at 10. I make another pass back to the parking lot without success, get my truck out of the lot, and drive north up to where I left off gridding. After another half hour or so, I get the signal I was hoping for. A good healthy scoop later and her precious ring was in my hand. A few days later, they made the trip back to San Diego and were reunited with the wayward circle. Now grandma’s ring story can continue! A pleasure to meet you both, and thank you for the generous reward.

Lost Diamond Platinum Wedding Ring Set at Newport Beach, CA. .. Found After A Night In The Sand

David and Gina had been vacationing at Newport Beach, CA.  with their children. Gina had put her diamond and platinum wedding ring set in a small bag for safe keeping while they were on the beach. After returning to the place they were staying the wedding ring set was missing.

Gina believed that one of their kids had opened the bag while on the beach. Dave returned to the location just before dark to search the sand as the tide came over the place where the loss possibly happened. Totally frustrated, he had to give up. The next morning that had to leave driving up north to Sacramento, CA. 

I checked my email about 11am where I had a plea for help from Dave. He had given me a location of the rings and gave me his phone number.

We talked for a few minutes before he drove out of cellphone reception range. I proceeded to the location where it was packed with families on the beach. Luckily the lower beach was damp wet sand and the tide was low. After about 7 or 8 grid passes of 30 feet, I received my first and only signal. Boom !! almost eight inches deep the beautiful diamond and platinum wedding ring set. 

Nobody on the beach even knew that I had found such a nice treasure as I walked off the beach to call Dave and Gina with the good news. We made arrangements for them to meet me three days later,  so I could personally return their rings that they thought was lost forever.

Tourist Lost Wedding Ring at Laguna Beach, CA. While Visiting from Russia

Alexander has only been married for one month and had lost his wedding ring in the sand at Laguna Beach, CA. while visiting from Russia. He called me asking help to find his wedding ring that was lost playing football on the beach. He was sure that his one month old white gold wedding ring had come off his finger during the game but he didn’t feel it come off. Tomorrow he would be returning to his home in Russia. He didn’t want to return with bad news that he had lost his ring.

We made arrangements to meet on the beach shortly after he contacted me, even though the beach was packed with sunbathers. I don’t usually search when the beach is crowded but you never know the conditions until you get there.

Alexander walked me a few blocks down the beach where he believed they had played football. We were fortunate that this area was clear of people. I began a grid search that was approximately 15 yards square. On the third pass I got a faint but clear tone. One deep scoop with my sand scoop and there in the bottom of the scoop was Alexander’s gold Wedding Ring. It was smaller than I expected and may have been on edge which would have accounted for the faint signal. Whatever, the main thing was we had another ring recovery.

Alexander was very appreciative but I couldn’t get him to smile for the photo, I think it was because he was still surprised how well the metal detector could find such a small piece of metal in a sea of sand. It was definitely a pleasure to meet and help Alexander. I’m sure he will tell his family and friends in Russia about his adventure of finding someone from TheRingFinders to help him find the ring.

Lost Wedding Ring – Pensacola Beach- FOUND!!!

Today was such a cool day because I got to help out a fellow detectorist. 😳👍 Allan and Ami came down for the weekend to celebrate their 16th anniversary and unfortunately Murphy’s Law struck quickly. As they were waiting to check in they decided to wade out in the beautiful Gulf waters. Allan was explaining to Ami that she had to be very careful out in the deeper water because your ring can fall right off your hand. As he touched his left hand to illustrate his point… you guessed it, Kerplunk! Allan’s ring fell straight down in the water and quickly buried in the sand. Luckily they emailed me and although I didn’t get the email until late last night, we touched base first thing this morning. I quickly started getting ready and unfortunately tragedy struck. I badly pulled a muscle in my upper back and had to be helped to lie down. My wife sent Allan and Ami a text explaining that I was hurt and there was no way I could come today. They are very nice people and were more concerned with my health than anything else. I took some Motrin and laid still for a few hours until I dozed off. I woke up and realized that whatever had popped in my back was back where it was supposed to be and although I was really sore, I gingerly went to the front yard to see if I could swing my detector without too much pain. It hurt but I knew Allan and Ami were leaving town at 2pm and I really wanted to send his ring with them. I gave them a call and luckily they were still here and about to have lunch at Pegleg’s. I was quickly enroute to the beach.  Well Allan has done a lot of land detecting and he had tried to mark the location of the ring when it fell and did a great job. I always do a larger area and overlap my passes multiple ways because I have learned what Allan was about to; it’s never where it’s supposed to be in the water. 😃. The first thing I found was an iPhone X in a Lifeproof case complete with multiple credit cards (stay tuned for that return story this week 😉). Although it definitely wasn’t their ring, I think it gave Ami some hope that I really could find stuff buried in the sand out in the water. It wasn’t too many passes before I was worried that Allan might be getting concerned that I was in the wrong area. But then I heard that beautiful sound!!!  I called to Allan and waved him out to join me. He looked shocked when I told him that I thought I had located it and asked if he would like to do the “honors” and “dig it up”. He told me to go ahead and I very gently dug a large scoop full of sand. When I verified with my machine that I had whatever it was in my scoop, I just smiled and handed the scoop to him. Well, he smiled even bigger when he washed out the sand and saw his ring gleaming back at him. It was a great moment when he quickly put that ring back where it belongs and began striding back to Ami to show her that their anniversary weekend just got a whole lot better. 😃

Thank you Allan and Ami for letting me help you and for your patience and understanding when I was hurt this morning. Thank you also to the very nice front desk crew (especially Gillian) at the Holiday Inn Pensacola Beach who allowed me to park on property and even helped us celebrate when Allan showed them his ring!  👍👍👍

Lost Diamond Ring at Kits Beach…Found!

I was out visiting my grandson on the Island when I received a distress call from a young lady who lost her diamond engagement ring at Kits beach. I listened to her story on how she lost her ring and how they searched but couldn’t find it, I could tell she was very upset and that she thought she’d never see it again.

She went on to tell me that she was calling me from the airport and she was on her way back home from visiting Vancouver. She also said that she was getting married in 3 months, I asked her if she took any pictures of the area on the beach where she had lost the ring and she said she did and sent them to me.

After taking a look at the pictures I knew exactly where on the beach she was, I told her that I’d be there in a couple of hours to find her ring. I headed back to Vancouver after a day with my grandson and went directly to Kits beach. I found the area she lost the ring and started my search, after 20 minutes and the good signal I was looking for and in my scoop was her beautiful engagement ring!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was able to send her a text message with a picture of her ring and when she landed back home In Saskatchewan the first thing she saw on her phone was a picture of her ring. The next thing I did was go to Fed-EX and ship back her beautiful engagement ring.

Lost white gold wedding ring at Newport Beach, CA. while on vacation. That is what happened to Karen and Ken when they came to California from North Carolina visiting relatives. It happened just before they were to celebrate 20 years marriage making it even more painful. 

Ken handed Karen his watch and wedding ring and she thought she put them both in the beach bag. When they got back to the beach house the watch was there but not the ring. Two possibilities that led to the loss, one was the ring may have slipped out of her hand before putting the watch in the bag or maybe one of the kids took something out of the bag, dragging the ring into the sand.

I got called the day after the ring went missing. I wasn’t sure if I could have access to the search area as many people had already set up their beach sites. We agreed to meet at the same location knowing that I may have to return later after most the people had left.

Karen showed me the general location and I had enough open space to search most of the area. I decided that I would return later but the I noticed some foot drag marks on the upper slope away from where I had been searching. Karen said her sister in law had searched there. Just because it was clear of people I decided to scan that spot before I left. Boom!  One White Gold man’s wedding ring in the scoop.

Karen was sitting very quiet and kind of discouraged in her beach chair. I walked up to her holding out the ring for her to see. She exploded with tears of joy and a smile so big everyone on the beach could see. Right away she got on the phone to tell Ken the good news. I love doing this, it is worth all the work. We don’t get them all but the many of the rings we find may have been lost forever.

Lost Wedding Ring Found in Surf at San Clemente, CA. .. Returned to Grateful Owners

Bill and his a family were enjoying the day at San Clemente State Beach. Bill handed his wedding ring to his wife, Taylor for safe keeping. Then went for a swim in the ocean.

Taylor was busy playing with their young children on the beach. She had put Bill’s ring on her finger as she had done many times before without any problems. Sometime during the next couple hours the ring that Taylor was guarding on her finger slipped off into the sand.

When I got to the area where they had spent most of the day, we decided that the most likely place for the ring to be was under the umbrella and main play zone. I started the grid search there. I hadn’t finished that location when Taylor said she did take the kids 40 ft. down the slope into the shallow water for a few minutes. Tide was rising, so I changed my plan and went to the waters edge. The incoming waves were just over my ankles when I got a good signal. Put the scoop in the sand and pulled out Bill’s white gold wedding band. 

Success and another ring that was returned to a very nice couple who were very appreciative and happy to have found TheRingFinders website.
