Found Wedding Ring Frozen in the Ground

Got a call yesterday from a guy who had lost his wedding ring last Summer. He was doing some landscaping around his house, which involved planting a tree, some flowers, moving and replanting sod, followed by spreading mulch. He bought a metal detector, but got discouraged by all the signals in the ground. Months later a coworker told him about The Ring Finders service.

Despite the ground being frozen hard this time of year in Vermont, I decided to give it a try, hoping it wouldn’t be too deep. Also, there is a Winter Storm warning predicting deep snow for tomorrow!

He was away for the day, but he gave me a great sketch of where he had been landscaping. There was a wire fence, aluminum siding on the house and many years of dropped metal things in the ground that made it a real challenge trying to sort out the better signals. I searched for about a half hour and was beginning to think I should wait until Spring when the ground was thawed, when I got a good mid range signal coming from under a rock. I moved the rock and used my pinpointer to narrow down the target area. Slowly and extremely carefully, I chipped away the frozen dirt until the golden rim was exposed. I hammered my trowel into the soil beside it and out it popped. It was still in great shape even after having a rock on top of it!! I waited for him to come home from work and was greeted by a huge happy smile!

I love this hobby! Please click on my name above for more stories and contact information.

Lost Platinum Diamond Stud Earring Found In Bloomfield Hills Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Stooopid Cupid….

…..Often gets it wrong and when he does it’s painful, but when he’s right, it’s pure bliss. Why he was firing at Heather on a snowy Valentine’s day is unknown, but it knocked one of her earring’s off that was a surprise gift from her husband. Now… Heather’s been hit by Cupid before as she is madly in love with her husband, so she wondered was Cupid blindfolded? If so, was he implying love is blind? Hmmm….or was he desiring a new metal for his arrows? How could something like this happen when this special day is supposed to be all about love? Feeling as tho she’d been shot thru the heart with the loss, she reached out to me for help. When she explained what happened I said Well, that’s what happens when you give a baby a bow and arrow. Laughing a bit helped ease her stress. I explained that I brought my own bow and arrow in the form of a powerful metal detector that emits invisible lightning bolts that locates lost metal thousands of times faster than any of Cupid’s arrows can travel. As she rolled her eyes with a smile she pointed out the search area then went in the house to get us some coffee. I started the grid search and within a few minutes under a patch of ice I got a signal on the metal detector’s meter that was a match to her other earring. Cutting around the spot carefully with my pocket knife exposed the diamond part of the earring! I texted her that I would like her to come outside. As I pointed down she saw the earring, blinked a few times in disbelief, putting her hands to her face joyfully exclaimed her excitement that it was found! Holding the earring definitely warmed up her hands and heart, bringing the couple’s love for each other even closer to their hearts. In a final move Heather held the earring to the sky and said Cupid you lose and you are not getting your arrow back….Roses are red, violet’s are blue, finding a ringfinder made my dreams come true!

Lost engagement ring and wedding ring in grass, Longwood, Florida….Found!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

Mrs Patty was engaged back in 1972 and received a simple but beautiful diamond ring! Twenty years later she added two more diamonds to her engagement ring, one from her deceased mother’s ring and the other diamond came from her late grand mother’s engagement ring! Fast forward 30 years and as Patty was pulling some trash bins around her house to set on the curb for the next days pick up she noticed that her rings were not on her finger. Figuring they must have come off somehow while tugging on the garbage bins she began searching the grass and leaves along the path she had taken. She even went out later that night with a strong flashlight hoping to catch a glimpse of the gold or by some slim chance see a sparkle from one of the three diamonds. But she got more discouraged as she realized that it would be next to impossible to find them without the help of a metal detector. Later that evening she went on line and searched for “Metal detector rental” and one of the links that came up was www.theringfinders.com.

I am so very thankful to have numerous opportunities to help people find their lost rings! It is an honor to meet and listen to each person’s story about what it is that they lost and what the item means to them. Most often it is a wedding ring or engagement ring that has been dropped, lost or even thrown and to see and hear the pain and distress brought on by such an event…spurs me on to do whatever I can to relieve that stress and grief and bring back the joy that is missing in their lives.

I began searching along the paths that Patty indicated she had taken and had almost covered the front yard. Before heading to the side of the house I decided to go up along the driveway, even though she did not indicate she had walked that way. Halfway up I received a strong signal and could barely see part of what looked like a ring and it was tilted in the grass making it difficult to see what I thought looked like some diamonds. I called to Mrs Patty and she came a running with a big smile on her face. I encouraged her that if one of her rings dropped there it was very likely that the wedding ring was close by. I swept the area again thinking surely I would get a signal but nothing. I went up to the sidewalk and came back covering the same area and as I approached the exact spot where the diamond ring was resting I glanced out onto the concrete driveway and guess what I spotted…just lying in plain sight? There was Mrs Patty’s wedding ring…and again I called her to come see what else I had just found! She could hardly believe that it had been there all along…hiding in plain sight!
It was an honor to help Mrs Patty and to know that one day her rings will be passed on to another generation to enjoy and cherish!

Lost Gold and Diamonds Heirloom Ring at Marriott Beach Resort Lagoon…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began Tuesday, Feb 15th when I received a text from Sara who was from Las Vegas Nevada and on vacation staying with her husband at the Marriott Beach Resort. She was laying in about 1-2 feet of water near shore when her Gold & Diamonds Heirloom ring came off and disappeared. They were now home in Vegas so we started texting and exchanging photos of the area to hunt. It was early enough in the day that I grabbed my detecting gear and headed to the resort. Once there I compared pics and called Sara once more to be sure. I started the grid on the right and worked to the left. The waters were turbulent from a monster NW swell but close to shore in this corner of the lagoon it was decent. On about the fourth leg of the grid I got a nice tone on the Nox and in one scoop there was Sara’s gorgeous heirloom ring in the scoop. I immediately went ashore and texted Sara a pic of her ring. She was obviously ecstatic and very grateful I was able to recover her ring. I mailed it the next morning and you can see in the pic it’s safely home on Sara’s finger. Aloha to Sara!

Lost Gold & Platinum Heirloom Ring at Waikiki Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Nicole who was on vacation in Waikiki from Alberta, Canada. Nicole told me while her Mom was taking her ring off to remove the sand as she was pulling on the ring it popped off and disappeared in the sand. They tried with some help from other tourists to locate the ring but Waikiki’s soft sand is very good at hiding rings! Nicole googled lost ring read my blog and decided to give me the call. I told her I just returned from a hunt so it would be easy to pack up my gear and head to Waikiki. I told her I could be there in a few minutes and we could meet in front of the Moana Surfrider. I was there in a flash and Nicole escorted me down to the beach where her Mom and brother Cameron were waiting nervously for my arrival. Mom asked what could she do to assist and I said lets just move these towels and beach stuff out of the area so I can hunt. The beach was packed with tourists and every eye was on what I was doing. The first target on the Nox was a solid 12-13 and in one scopp there was Mom’s gorgeous heirloom ring in the scoop. She was overcome with joy and asked if she could hug me. I accept and give hugs regularly. It’s pure Aloha! We hugged and took a few pics. Of course all the tourists were clapping and whistling. Another vacation saved. Aloha to Nicole, Mom & Cameron!

Lost White Gold & Diamond Engagement Ring at Ko Olina Lagoon…FOUND!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Elaine who lives in Ewa Beach on Oahu. While enjoying the waters of the lagoon her White Gold and solitaire Diamond Engagement ring went missing. She wasn’t exactly sure when it came off but thankfully was only in a small area on the beach and in the water. She sent me pics of the area marked and one of the ring. I told Elaine I’d hunt the next morning. When I arrived the next morning as the sun was rising I entered the water at the left side of the grid and worked to the right. Thankfully this year the waters at Ko Olina have remained quite warm. I walked out to chest deep water and back up the shoreline on each leg. As I was nearing the end of the grid (Like the last leg) I finally got a loud target near shore and in one scoop there was Elaine’s beautiful ring in the scoop. We met up this morning for the return. Love the smiles. Aloha to Elaine.

Lost Gold with Diamond Engagement Ring in House Found in Inkster Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

It All Came Out In The Wash…….

……A few days ago Don’s fiancee needed a short rest from the children so she sat on the couch. Not planning to fall asleep she did anyway but before she did she took her ring off and placed it on the table next to the couch. Upon waking, she noticed her ring missing. Since there was a toddler in the house their suspicion was cast in that direction. There also were thoughts that the ring came off outside. Using every fiber of their being they looked but to no avail. Feeling as though they went thru the spin cycle they were thinking of throwing in the towel as they didn’t want to air their dirty laundry to the wrong person. As their enthusiasm began to shrink further, they eventually folded and called me. I said I’d give it a spin, it sounds like loads of fun. I searched the outside with no results then went inside. I checked the area where the ring was last seen with no results. Sockrificing other parts of the house and suggesting we move to where the laundry was handled is where we watched it all unfold. Probing thru the clean basket with my pin pointer I kept getting signals from zippers/buttons but as we continued pulling stuff out the gold ring revealed itself! I said I got it! I sheet you not! As Don excitedly looked at it he said this definitely took a load off their minds! We concluded the toddler put the ring in the dirty clothes basket and somehow it made it all the way into the clean. I said the tides have turned! Washing dirty things never felt so good, and she’ll be thrilled when she gets home! You were maid for each other and this is a start of a whole new era!

Man wedding gold band found in the snow

  • from Cobourg (Ontario, Canada)

Had a text from Amanda about how her husband had lost his gold wedding band outside in the snow. She was extremely upset. They had tried to find it themselves with a cheap metal detector with no success. After a couple tries, the ring was found at the end of the driveway, buried in a snow drift. Another happy customer.

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Doug’s Cherished Titanium Wedding Band (Made by David Yurman Compay) Recovered in the Snow by Metal Detectorist and Member of THE RING FINDERS Brian Rudolph!

Alexandria, Virginia Resident, Doug, Proudly Holding His Sentimental Titanium Keepsake of Love Following a Successful Metal Detecting Search by Member of THE RING FINDERS Brian Rudolph!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a young man named Doug in Alexandria, Virginia who lost his titanium wedding band made by the David Yurman company. He was playing out in the snow with his children and their pet dog, and by the time he returned back into the house from all of their fun, Doug noticed that his most special sentimental keepsake was no longer on his finger. Because he remembered that the ring was loose on his finger outside earlier that same day, the distressed fellow was pretty confident that the band had been lost out in the snow while playing.

Not taking matters into his own hands but rather trusting the competence of a professional metal detectorist, Doug found my metal detecting services on the elite international metal detecting specialist directory website called THE RING FINDERS. He learned that I provide my metal detecting expertise in the Alexandria, Virginia area and immediately called me for help!

The next morning, I arrived at Doug’s lovely snow covered neighborhood to conduct the ring search. My new client showed me all of the areas where he had been walking around, playing with the dog and having a blast out in the snow with his well entertained children. Within a few minutes I had all of the information necessary to start the search.

I returned to my car, pulled out my waterproof detector, headphones and gridline tapes and began the process of looking for Doug’s most special “symbol of love”. Within 10 minutes of swinging my machine back and forth as I analyzed the snow for the wedding band, I picked up the perfect signal coming from beneath the ice. Because I am so experienced with recovering all types of rings made of every kind of metal, I was pretty confident that this very target was the lost piece of titanium that went missing the day before. With much excitement and anticipation, I knelt down on the snow and pulled out my handheld metal detector (which is called a pinpointer) and began to wave it over the area where my machine coil was picking up the object that I was after. Once I knew the exact spot where the target was buried, I used my fingers to dig my way down through the snow until my eyes locked in on exactly what I thought the mystery item happened to be! It was in fact Doug’s titanium wedding band! I found it! I couldn’t have been more happy for my client the moment that the silver-like colored halo appeared from within the snow!

The best part of my search and recovery time (other than of course finding the lost item that meant the world to Doug), was the moment that I surprised my client with his very handsome wedding band! Doug was so appreciative of my expertise and efforts in successfully returning his special wedding band back to his finger! He couldn’t believe how fast I was able to recover it for him! During the rest of the time that I was on my client’s property, Doug kept expressing his gratitude for what I was able to accomplish for him. He told me over and over again how glad he was for not wasting his money and time on a rental machine that he knew nothing about. But instead, he called in a professional who took care of his most important need…preserving his irreplaceable “symbol of love” that his wife Lisa placed on her husband’s finger several years earlier on their very special wedding day!
