Lost Silver & Gold Ring Found In South Bethany Beach Delaware

On 07/08/18, I received a call from Shanti requesting my help in finding her silver & gold ring that had been lost on the beach in South Bethany Beach Delaware. Shanti asked if I was available to come to the beach to search for her ring right away because the tide was coming in. I told Shanti that I would be at the beach in about twenty minutes to look for her ring. When I arrived at the beach, Shanti told me that she had placed her ring in a pocket of her shorts which had been laid on a beach chair. Shanti said that the beach chair and the shorts had been moved from their original location on the beach to a second location and that after the chair and shorts had been moved her ring was no longer in the pocket of her shorts. Shanti said that the ring could be in the sand at either of the two locations. I began the search for the ring at the original location and as I started to swing my detector the ring revealed itself buried at about an inch in the sand. The ring was recovered and returned to its rightful owner. Shanti was delighted to have her ring back.

I received a call from a gentleman whose wife had lost her wedding and engagement rings on a beach a few miles from my house. The problem was that I was out of town on vacation and couldn’t help, or could I? I put a call out to a few fellow detectorists who turned out to be unavailable but after checking the directory I found another Ring Finder who was about an hour and half away and recommended a call to him. Long story short, he made the trip down the coast and recovered the rings the next morning. Goes to show,  you should always call a Ring Finder first.

Lost 1951 Georgetown University College Ring Found In Rehoboth Beach Delaware

On 07/01/18, I received a call from William regarding the loss of a 1951 Georgetown University Class Ring. The ring had been lost on the beach in the town of Rehoboth Beach Delaware. William requested my help in locating the ring. William was not sure if the ring had fallen off of his finger at the edge of the water while he was rinsing off his child or if it had been lost in the sand in the area that they had been sitting. I told William that I would be able to meet him at the beach later in the day so that I could search for his lost ring. Upon arriving at the beach and making contact with William I learned that the lost ring had belonged to his grandfather and that his grandfather had passed away earlier in the year. William, his father and I walked down to the beach where William showed me the area that he had been sitting on the beach and also the area where he had been in the water. Upon searching the area where William had been sitting I found nothing except a penny and a small piece of metal. I then turned my attention to the edge of the water at which time I located the ring in the wet sand buried about six inches down. I removed the ring from my sand scoop and handed it to William at which time he shouted out “he found my lost ring” and there was a cheer from the crowd on the beach. William asked me to come back to residence where he was staying because his mother wanted to thank me for finding the lost ring as the ring had belong to her father. Upon arriving at the residence Williams mother thanked me and told me that I was her hero.

Ring Finder turns Phone Finder, South Yarmouth, Cape Cod, MA

Out early this morning for a little Water Walking and in waist deep water I saw what looked like an Apple Orchard making my metal detector scream in my ears “Dig Me” and so I did. To my surprise there was a cell phone with two “Apples. on the outside of a LifeProof case and a dog looking out of the screen on the other side. While looking at the dog I could here her saying “Thanks for saving me from that watery grave. I want to go home now!” Come to find out the dog’s name was Debbie.

Well being that I know almost nothing about these new cell phone, I asked Jim (my detecting buddy) and he Googled how to return a found cell phone. Nothing seemed to work. As customary Jim and I stopped for our usual cup of coffee and pastry after a morning of detecting the local beaches. Upon returning to the car the cell phone had a display of Papa Called. Jim with his magic fingers got to a screen of the Locked phone that let him Call Back – Popa without having to have the password to unlock the phone.

Within the hour Popa and Nana were standing in my yard relating stories. It was James’, their grandson’s, cell phone. He had lost it the day before. And as the phone was under water all calls to the phone went directly to voice mail. The calls made last night went unanswered. The phone was returned with a bit of a charge left and a small amount of water removed from the LifeProof case.

Popa, Nana, Jim and I are all very glad we had a chance to meet and make James’ loss just a story to be passed along, thanks to a TheRingFinders member, even without contact for help.

Ring lost in La Jolla Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

What I thought was going to be an easy search and return didn’t exactly work out that way. I’ll let Edie tell her story……….

“We called Mark after hunting for 5 days for my ring.  One evening I was tossing out two old oranges into the ivy-covered hillside behind our house and above our back patio.  My hands were a bit wet and unfortunately this loosened up a very special ring that I’ve worn on my index finger for over 20 years.  So when I was throwing out the second orange – my ring flew off along with the orange! Horror of horrors!!  I only saw it like a split-second whir going off slightly to the left of the two oranges. Didn’t see exactly where it landed, only an approximate area.  We hunted for several hours that night, and then on and on for 5 days, including after we bought a Pin-Pointer metal detector. The vines are very thick, though not too deep underneath them, and the vegetation has been there for decades on a rather steep hillside….  Mark looked everywhere for over an hour, even trying all of his highly sensitized equipment and doing a simulated test of my throw to approximate where the ring might have fallen.  He was very patient and calm the whole time, but even he was finally ‘running out of options,’ as he said.  Then he went up the hillside one last time, and further up and further to the left than we had ever considered it could go.  There it was lying on the ground in perfect condition, not even encased in dirt.  I had not expected to see the ring ever again, but Mark persisted in his search and continued to look beyond where we thought it could be.  We are very grateful to Mark for coming the morning after we called him and for being so persistent in his search.  We recommend him highly to anyone who has lost a ring or any other valuable metal object.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself!  The ring was found at the top of the hill in the upper right of the photo. About 4 feet from the back fence. Quite a nice throw Edie! A pleasure to meet you and your husband Jim. Thank you for the generous reward!

Necklace lost at North Island Breakers beach Found!

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Vanessa and her two children were spending the day at the beach on NAS North Island Breaker’s Beach. She had with her a necklace that was a recent gift. It was in a pouch, inside a box, then inside her bag. Should be safe there huh? Not with an active 1 1/2 year old toddler it isn’t! Apparently the child had gotten into the bag, box and pouch, finding the necklace and deciding to play with it in the dry sand. Once it was realized what happened, too late, the necklace was nowhere to be seen. I met Vanessa outside the gate so she could get me on the Navy base. We proceeded to the beach where the search area was defined. Lots of dry sand to sift and lots of junk targets to raise and dash our hopes. As you can see, after expanding out from ground zero, it was eventually found and a relieved Vanessa could head home happy. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

Ring lost in Paradise Hills found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Elizabeth called and asked for help finding her husband Carl’s lost ring. After eating some cherries in the front yard, Carl tossed the remains, and felt his loose fitting gold ring come off his pinky finger. He and his family searched the grass, raked it several times, and even rented a metal detector, but, without success. They even had video of him doing it through their security system! A first for me, actually seeing the loss happen. Even after repeated viewing of the video,                              we couldn’t really see the ring fly, but, it at least showed the throwing motion and approximate direction. It looked like it should be straight out in the grass, but, after 10-15 minutes of gridding the small front yard with no ring, I expanded the search to include street, gutter, a drainage ditch. Still no luck, so, I continued past the side fence and up on a landscaped side hill. Sure enough, it was waiting for me there! After receiving a promising signal, I could just spot the edge of the ring poking out of the apple ivy ground cover. Carl wasn’t home, but, a very happy Elizabeth greeted me again at the door and their daughter contacted Carl with the good news and posed for the photo with the ring. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

14k Boomerang Ring Found (Again)! Lost Gold Wedding Band Recovered in Bellevue, Washington!

  • from Seattle (Washington, United States)

Last week I got a request to find a lost gold men’s band in Bellevue, from Mackenzie, on behalf of her husband Tim. Unfortunately I had just started classes at my new job and couldn’t go search until this weekend. I hoped the delay wouldn’t be detrimental to the search, but I had to wait.

Tim had been part of a work party, clearing out vines and ivy at Chism Beach Park in Bellevue, Washington when he realized he was missing the ring. Likely he had taken off his gloves for a break and it came off somewhere he had been working. The ring was a sort of boomerang ring, it has a history of being lost and found multiple times in other situations, so I wanted to keep the streak alive…and find it again!  They had tried to rent a detector and search for it themselves but had no luck this time.

I don’t want to steer anyone from trying this DIY approach, but there is a learning curve with metal detecting, and it can quickly be frustrating to a newcomer. So it is always a good idea to have someone experienced to help if that doesn’t pan out. That’s where I come in!

I was relieved to quickly find the ring and return it to Mackenzie, since Tim is currently travelling. I hope to be able to post a pic of Tim reunited with it soon!

Dug up! Hiding in the leaves!

Reunited!

Received a call from Joe about his wedding ring. He said he had lost it at keystone lake in Tulsa, Oklahoma and needed help to find it. I asked joe what had happened. He said he was playing with his kids and throwing a ball and off flew his ring 💍. He said he was in about four foot of water at the most. When we got to the beach area after a half mile walk he showed me the place that he lost it at. I asked him to stand at about the place were it went flew off his hand. Joe didn’t move from that spot. His kids and relatives decided to help for a bit. After awhile they left to play. While I was searching for his ring — decided to switch to my new metal detector (the PL-iking 750 pulse induction). After about an hour switched to a different area close buy and got a very good signal with the new detector. I reached down and in about three feet of water felt the shape of joe’s ring, when he wasn’t looking I said joe call your wife over here please. He was waiting for her and I pointed here she comes he turned and looked at me and I had his ring on the end of my finger. I didn’t say a word joe couldn’t believe it he thought it was gone. The smile he had was awesome. Thanks joe for the nice reward…..

Ring found in the yard Traverse City, Michigan

I got a call from Juan because his wife Heather had lost her wedding ring in the yard while installing wood fencing. Talked to heather to get a primary area to start the grid search. The primary area was 10 feet wide by 50 feet long. Started the grid search and 5 minutes in got a good solid shallow signal looked down and found the ring in the grass. Heather stated she and Juan had been over the area multiple times and did not see the ring. I was glad to help out and like the short easy hunts.
