I received a call from Asher today, he had lost his wedding ring while pushing his daughter on a swing in his local park. He said it had happened today, and it sounded as though he had not left the area, so everything was sounding like there would be a successful recovery. Knowing this was in a public place the emphasis is on getting there for the search as soon as possible, so I told him I would leave right away.

When I got to the park, I walked over where the swings are, and Asher met me to show me what and where the loss happened. He had actually witnessed the ring coming off of his finger and hitting the sand, so he knew where it had gone, but yet he searched for over an hour with no luck in finding it. It is really amazing how the sand will swallow up a ring or piece of jewelry to where it is impossible to find. Fortunately I use the best equipment made for such a recovery, and have the experience to make the recovery happen. Like I tell the people who call me, if it is there I will find it. One short pass, and two scoops later Asher’s ring was in my scoop. He was very happy. This ring represented 3 years of loving commitment for him, he wanted it back, and I was happy to be able to make that happen for him. Awesome day!

Platinum Diamond Ice ring found in Ice Snow

Valentine’s Day 2019 Recovery

Maysoon called me having lost her platinum diamond wedding ring in the Seattle snow. After a church service she came out to help her husband add some fluid to their car before leaving. Her hands got a little messy so she bent down, grabbed some snow to rub her hands clean and then shook her hands dry. At this point she noticed her wedding ring was no longer on her finger! After a frantic search through the snow with no ring found she called me the next day after visiting TheRingFinders website.  I agreed to meet her the next morning.

   

When I arrived early on Valentine’s Day morning the asphalt was super slippery and the piles of snow were thick blocks of ice. My detector easily sees metal through the snow however her ring was a thin band ladies platinum ring. As always I proceeded with the search cautiously and started cleaning out sections of the snow moving those closes to the metal railing further out as not to miss her ring. If it was there I would eventually find it. She told me that the parking spot she was standing on was full of snow that night the ring went missing. However the next day someone had cleared that spot and shoveled the snow into a pile leading up to a storm drain. The pile not far from the public sidewalk. I kew we had to get this ring before the snow melted as surely someone would drive over the top of it or eyeball it and no telling if it would get returned.

With several hours of searching I carefully scooped blocks of ice to the side clearing each one taking caution not to damage her ring.  Half way through the snow pile I eventually got the signal I was lookin for. After a close inspection I was so happy for the lady that all of her diamonds were still fixed to the ring.

LOST WEDDING BAND IN LAKE CHARLES, LA. – FOUND

Susan called to ask for help in finding her husband’s lost tungsten wedding band.  It was slung off his wet finger a month before when opening their camper door. Carrie and I left the next day for the 70 mile trip. On arriving, we found the grassy search area to be small in the RV lot. We began the search of the lot. Next to the grassy area was a fenced area for a water system. Sid hunted the fenced area facing the RV. After 2 hours of searching and re-searching the yard and rock driveway, we had not found the ring. Susan, Carrie and Sid had gathered up near the rear side of the water system to discuss the next step when Carrie saw a sparkle from the rocks around the water system. In plain view laying on the rocks was the ring. Lost items are not always where you expect them to be. After the happy trio took pictures, we were on our way back home. Thank you, Susan, for your generous reward.

House Key Lost in the Sand at Hermosa Beach, CA…Found and Returned.

I got a call last week from a gentleman who was on vacation from Switzerland with a friend, and staying with a another friend a the beach. It seems as though they were out at the beach sitting watching the waves, that the key their friend had given them to enter the house was lost in the sand, and they were unable to find it after about 2 hours of searching. I told them I would be able to be there in about 30 minutes, and was on my way.

When I got to the beach I found them waiting at beach bar, and they took me out to the area of the loss. They showed me where they had been sitting, so I began my search. It took me about 3 passes, and then I got the sound I was wanting to hear. I put the scoop in and had the key. The guys were very happy to have it back, wanting to not feel as they let their friend down by losing his key. Some thankful guys for sure.

Safety Deposit Box Key Lost in Center Grass Median of Busy Blvd. in Bell Gardens, CA…Found and Returned.

II received a call from a young lady who had lost a safety deposit key. She thought she was holding an old key that was no longer usable, but her sister had given her the good key instead. As she was driving down the street she was thinking about the key and decided it was no longer needed, so she threw it out of the car window. It wasn’t until she contacted her sister later that she found out she had thrown out the much needed key.

When I got there she met me and told me all that had happened, and showed me the median. It was about 4:00 PM, on a weekday with a lot of traffic from people getting off of work on their way home. The median was no more than 8 feet wide, so checking on the tones that were on the edge would put me within inches of passing vehicles. The area was about 100 feet long, and I needed to make sure I covered to whole area because she had been moving, and the key most likely bounced when it hit, and was in an area further along from where it had been released. Fortunately she had another key similar to the one that was lost, so I was able to get a reading off of it to know what I was needing to hear. I found a lot of different types of metal during the search, and it wasn’t until neared the end of the median that I found the key underneath the grass. When I brought it back to her, she was very relieved and happy to have it back. Glad to have made her day.

Diamond engagement ring found in House in Glenview, Illinois

I normally don’t like doing house or apartment searches, guess it’s just because of my hangup having to go through strangers personally stuff.
However after hearing her story it was pretty hard to say no.
Got engaged in January and future husband out of state and she did not have the heart to tell him she lost her ring a,
$15,000 diamond engagement ring , not insured.
Searched for a couple hours and was getting close to calling it when I tried one last thing, took off her pillow shams and found it there.
She cried all during the search and the picture tells the story when it was found.
No better feeling!!!

Wedding Ring Lost on Santa Monica Pier on Day of Couple’s 2nd Wedding Anniversary…Found Joyfully Returned.

I received a call from Souja, she had lost her wedding ring on the Santa Monica pier. She and her husband Martin are from Austria, and were in Southern California celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary, and this was the exact day. Needless to say she was very unhappy about the loss. They were scheduled to leave the next day for Northern California for the rest of their vacation and then home. They could not imagine leaving with out her ring; they had matching rings. I let them know when I would be there, and was on my way.

When I got there Souja and Martin with their little one, met me and showed me what had happened. They had been at a food vendor on the pier when her ring slipped off of her finger. She said she watched it drop, and heard it hit the pier, but it was gone in an instant. They looked all over the pier with no success, and then surmised that it possibly slipped through the boards into the sand below, so they went below and searched some more. Martin went up and dropped some coins through the boards of the pier to see if he could find them, and was able to, but not Souja’s ring. They searched for a total of about 3 hours. They found me on The Ring Finders site and called, pretty discouraged by now. I agreed that the possibility of it having gone into the sand was better than it being up on the pier, so I began the search under the pier. I began my grid, and found a dime, a penny and a piece of trash. I was on my second pass, when I got the tone I was looking for, I dug, and in my scoop was Souja’s wedding ring. I reached in and held it out for her; they were so surprised. The pleasure of being able to help people with their lost items has not diminished a little; check out those smiles. What a great day!

Ring Set Lost New Years Eve Day in Santa Monica, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

I received a call from Virginia today, New Years Eve Day, She had lost her ring set of 36 years in her back yard, and was unable to find them after much looking. After asking a few questions about the loss, and knowing it was a recent loss, I let her know I would be there in about an hour.

When I got to her house, Virginia and her husband met me and took me to the area where she believed she lost the rings. It was a relatively small wood deck area with some wide sections between the boards. She had been dusting in the house, and came outside onto the deck to remove the dust off of the duster, and when she was done she saw that her rings were missing. Where could they have gone? The deck was completely surrounded by a wood lattice fencing, and she did not hear the rings fall; they had completely disappeared! The only thing she thought could have happened was that the rings fell through an opening in the wood deck, which sounded reasonable to me, so I got my equipment ready and squeezed under the deck for a search; nothing.  Well I have done this long enough to know that rings do things when they leave the hands they are on that sometimes defy logic. So I expanded my search outside of the lattice fencing with a flashlight looking down into more of the wood decking with no luck. I was about 15-20 feet from the original spot of loss when I looked under the ledge of their shed and saw this huge soldered ring set. The rings must have left Virginia’s finger at a perfect trajectory to make them go precisely through a 1 1/2 inch hole in the lattice fencing, and landing 20 feet away; amazing for sure. I brought them to her, and she was very happy; what a great way to finish off the year!

Wedding ring found Williamsburg, Michigan lost throwing hay to the horses

This adventure started with a call from Tim saying he lost his Wedding ring after throwing hay over a fence to the horses. He said he has been married 27 years and would very much like to get the ring back. Tim and his wife had been looking for the ring for 4 days with a $50.00 metal detector they just purchased to try to find the ring. I told Tim I’m not trying to be rude or hurt your feeling but you are wasting your time with that approach. He told me that was exactly what he wanted me to say and when did I want to come to look for the ring. We still had a couple hours of daylight so I told him I could be on the road in fifteen minutes. I was thinking in my head “Horse + Hay = BRING THE TALL BOOTS” then explained some of the basic metal detector operation and why you needed a better detector and someone who knows how to use it. I can do two things tell you where the ring is not at or find the ring.

Fifteen minutes later I was loaded and headed to Tim’s house. When I got to the house Tim showed me the area he was getting the hay from and the three different spots he threw the hay over the fence. He has three horses he was feeding for the night. He did not realize the ring was missing till he was in the house getting ready to go to the neighbor’s house Saturday night. To myself, I’m thinking we don’t have an exact location it was lost but no big deal the area is pretty small. So I started the search and search I did. I searched the hay storage area twice the path he walked on twice and the area on both sides of the fence twice. So after about 2 hours in I was scratching my head on what to do next. I made a decision on grid searching the complete corral area then calling it a night. I had already told Tim I would return Saturday if I did not find the ring tonight. I switched the coil on my CTX3030 to the big 17-inch coil to cover the area faster. I was on my second pass and got a great sounding target but it was 4 inches down. Was thinking to myself the ring cannot be 4 inches down the ground already it is starting to freeze. Either way that sound needed to be investigated further. I ran up to get my raptor digging tool out of my truck, so, I could dig a big piece of the soil out, not do any damage just in case it was the ring. I had the ball of soil in my hand broke it apart and the ring appeared. I almost fell over thinking that is a big chunk of gold I was not expecting. I had only asked Tim what the ring was made of and if it is a small band or a wider one. Well, I cleaned the dirt off stuck the ring on my finger over my glove held my hand up in victory. Tim came out of his truck to see what I was doing, so, I yelled I have the ring. He ran over grabbed the ring off my finger and gave me a big hug. At that time his wife Deanna just got home and he gave her the news. She asked me where I found the ring then gave me a hug thanking me. The ring was out in the corral about 30 from the fence. Tim and I talked for a minute on how the ring could have gotten that far out. I think it got stuck on one of the horse’s hooves and got carried it out that far and he agreed that something like that happened.

I had a great time with Tim and his Wife Deanna they are both great people to talk to. As I was packing up to leave Tim mentioned he was amazed his wife said there are people that will come and look for your ring. He did an internet search and one of my blog posts came up first. He called me and got his ring back the same night. I told him my stuff is always ready. I can be loaded and on the road in 15 minutes if needed. I went home cleaned the horse droppings off my coils put the battery on the charger ready for the next adventure.
