Lost cell phone along highway, Ormond Beach, Florida….Found and Returned!

In November of 2017, Jerry was visiting his brother and wife in the Ormond Beach, Florida area and was in a bit of a hurry as he packed up his car to head north for the long drive home. And in his hurry he forgot that he had set his phone on the top of the car! Here is Jerry’s account. “My phone survived a brief thrill ride on top of my car before sliding off onto the shoulder of the road, where it survived a couple of cold and lonely nights before you, Mike, came to the rescue. I tried to hire someone from Craigslist for an “Odd Job” but nobody was interested. The day before I contacted Mike, I asked a local police officer to go out where the signal was still pinging and have a look around. It’s a work phone and they probably wouldn’t have charged me for it but I had some video on there of my daughters last Tae Kwon Do belt test that I didn’t want to lose. Lost wedding ring in ocean, Ormond Beach, Florida….Found and Returned!

Brett called me Sunday evening and asked if I was still helping people find their lost rings. That is usually a dead give away that they or someone close to them, needs help! Brett went on to explain that earlier that day he and his family were on the beach enjoying the sun. sand and surf and while playing catch with a football he felt his ring slip off of his finger. He was only in ankle deep water and he thought he would be able to retrieve it but try as he might, he could not find his lost ring. He said he was really bummed out and he slowly gave up hope of ever seeing his lost wedding ring again.
Later that evening , while at a restaurant, Brett’s friend showed him his phone and said, “Take a look at this!”. And there displayed on his screen was theringfinders.com web site and a story about a successful lost ring recovery. That was all it took for Brett to find my name and number and the next morning we made arrangements to meet on the beach.
Bright and early the next day Brett and his lovely wife, Christian, showed me the area where the ring fell into the water and I set up my four flags and started searching. Nothing showed up in the 20 X 40 foot area so I expanded my grid to either side. Fifteen minutes into the search and I got a cracking signal on my Dual Field Whites metal detector and three inches down was Brett’s lost ring. As I shook the sand from the scoop I looked up and Christina and her friend were sunning themselves and they did not notice that I had found the lost ring. So I walked up to their lounge chairs and shook the scoop so they could hear the clinking sound of the ring and that brought them to their feet! The relief and joy on Christina’s face and the long hug was evident that this day was going to be remembered for a long time. Cellphone Lost in Sand at a Local Newport Beach .. Recovered with Metal Detector

Janeen called me about 8:30pm, frantic about loosing her iPhone in the sand at Corona DelMar State Beach in the City of Newport Beach,CA.

The beach is only a couple miles from my home and it closes at 10pm. When I arrived Janeen’s there were more than 10 family members that had been searching the area. The “Find My Phone App” showed it still in the area, so it had not been picked up by a stranger.

I started a grid search and found the phone more than 30 feet away from the GPS location that the app gave us. 

It was a cool evening and everybody was cold and tired after a full day at the beach. Now they could get ready to make the one hour drive back home. Janeen is a cellphone/ computer nerd and was totally appreciated that we found the phone with all her personal photos and other information. I love doing this and I was back home by 9:30pm. 

If you lose something in the dry sand, mark the area and get landmarks that will help you return to the general area. Call a metal detector expert from TheRingFinders ASAP. Some beaches get daily sand cleaning machines that may end up claiming your valuable before we have a chance to find it with a metal detector. We want to optimize our chances of finding your sentimental keepsake. Timing is important. Phone calls and texts are the best ways to contact me. Emails are sometimes slower to catch.

Lost Wedding Band Found at Lake Whitney

I received a call from Darel late on June 16. He said his wife had lost her wedding band while swimming not far from shore in about 5 feet of water at Lake Whitney. I was able to come out and meet him on June 18. We started searching where he suggested and soon I got a good signal but could not locate it. My son continued searching the area with only a Garrett Pro pointer while I continued close by. I heard my son asking him some questions and I thought to myself, he found it. Well he sure did, with only the Garrett Carrot! Darel was so happy he went over to hug my son and they almost fell into the water. Great find. Glad we could help. Thank you Darel for the reward.

Ring Lost at North Topsail Beach FOUND Hours Later With Metal Detector

Amber was spending a day at the beach with family and decided to go for a swim.  The newlywed of only 6 weeks noticed her rings were slipping and tried to clean the sunscreen from her finger.  It was then the engagement ring slipped away and fell into the 2 foot surf.  After a frantic search, she promptly started a search on the internet and this led her to The Ring Finders!   Amber contacted me and we arranged a meeting time shortly afterwards.  Amber felt I was her only hope of ever seeing the ring again.

I began my search in the area Amber and her family had marked with lines in the sand.  They were very accurate and although it had settled in the sand down about 8 inches, it was almost in the middle of the lines they had laid in the sand.

Sunday July 1st,I received a text before midnight from Jason who had just noticed his ring was missing and asked if I could help him find it at the beach?
We agreed to meet at 6am the next morning. Normally,I Immediately go at the drop of the Hat but this particular location is illegal to park at from 11pm-sunrise plus I rarely see metal detector guys or hobbyists also known as“Beach Combers” Cleaning this piece full Local surf spot.

I went back to sleep with one eye open when my alarm woke me up 4.5 hrs later…
I met Jason at the scene of the lost ring then we walked down to where he had his Platinum wedding ring of over 20 years fall out of the chair cup holder. Fortunately Jason remembered the exact location.So I turned on My Metal Detector then got a consistent beep on the first sweep,,Not even 1 step into performing a professional grid pattern hunt when out came his precious ring buried in the sand…less than just 5 seconds of Detecting.

The force was strong with this search!

Jason had the same shell shocked look as I did after Pulling it out of the sand scoop shovel! Amazed as well as I was because knowing some searches can take hours,Days or weeks?

Then the standard question popped up afterwards of payment or reward?? No worries to any call I get,I enjoy what I do & do not Demand a charge for my service!

I work on a reward basis and often give out my address or info so that people can send any gratitude they feel necessary later.No dollar is ever needed upfront to help out at anyone on the Local San Diego beaches!

Wedding Ring recovered in Indian Lake, Howard City, Michigan

I read a post on Facebook that referred me to Kristen V. who lost her wedding ring while playing with a football on a sandbar. Boaters spend weekends and holidays partying there. Instead of waiting for her to call me I messaged her and her husband, Don, right away. Time is of the essence when a ring is lost in a public area. After conversing through Facebook, my Ring Finder partner Dave Boyer and I made arrangements to meet Kristen at her home on Monday morning. When we arrived at her house we immediately followed her by car to the sandbar where the ring was lost. Kristen stood out in the water showing us where she was standing when the ring came off her finger. We began our search in the area it was lost and after 30 minutes we located the ring deeper than first expected due to the football hitting the ring and sending it out in deeper water.

There is a saying in metal detecting “find 100 pull tabs and bottle caps then you will find a ring”. We almost found that many but we made a woman very happy when the ring was found. Thank you Tyler L. for the referral.

Julia called from Laguna Beach, CA., asking for help finding two rings lost while playing volleyball on the sand. Somebody on the beach told her to google search, TheRingFinders.com.

When Julia talked to me, I asked if she could wait at the beach another half hour. From what she told me, I was certain that the rings could easily be found with my metal detector and not to waste time searching for the rings by hand. It might be possible to find one ring but from my experience it’s difficult to find both rings by hand.

When I arrived it was about a four or five block walk to the location. I set up my metal detector and found the silver ring first, then a couple more swings and the gold/platinum ring was in the scoop. It was a fun search and it came off like everyone involved had done this before. 

Julia and her friends thanked me and the lifeguards gave me high fives. Then we all packed up and headed home. TheRingFinders scores again.

LOST WEDDING RING IN WAIKIKI FOUND

This ring find started in the late evening around 9:00pm on June 16th. I noticed on craigslist an ad that said they lost their wedding ring in Waikiki. I respond to the ad and got a call back from Jay. Asked him a bunch of questions and Apparently there were 3 other detectors who tried looking for it and didn’t find it. I was a bit hesitant to go out and look knowingly that there were 3 others who looked and supposedly didn’t find it. I was hoping that someone didn’t find it or worse they may have found it but wasn’t truthful. My gut was telling me to go out there and help them so, I did. I let Jay know that I’m on my way and to make sure NO MORE METAL DETECTORS go through the area. I get to the beach and meet up with Jay and started to look… there in the search site was almost 60 drunk people partying on the beach, beer cans, rubbish, rough waves and a lot of coins. About 4 hours later I get a nice tone while I’m in chest deep water… there in my scoop is a beautiful 3.8 karat wedding ring. I look towards shore and turn on my headlamp so Jay can see me and start nodding my head so he knows the ring is found. I give a loud shout of praise and I hear the people on the beach yelling ” YOU FOUND IT?” as I reply “YES”. The people on the beach gathered around as I presented Jay His wife ring back. All i could hear were people yelling and excited that the ring was found. Jay and I both agreed to let his wife know so she could enjoy the return of here precious ring. Another successful recovery and another honeymoon saved. WHAT A GREAT FATHERS DAY GIFT!!!
