Just a heads up to let you know that you’ll be seeing a story from a member of TheRingFinders who was called out to search for stolen jewelry that was dumped in a swamp after the burglar was chased by police. Our member of TRF found 200 pieces of jewelry! Amazing!!
Dustin called asking me if I was available to search his back yard. His wife Candy had dropped her wedding ring set in the sandy back yard. They had actually found the smaller rose gold wedding band, but after three days the engagement ring was not to be found.
After arriving at their house, I was able to see what the search area looked like. Got real excited until I turned on my CTX 3030 metal detector. There was lots of metal trash which could mask a signal of a small rose gold ring. Small 20’x 20′ area. I did a quick grid with my stock 11″ coil with no results. I changed to a smaller 6″ coil. Many many signals, but swinging very slowly on a third grid I caught a short low tone mixed with other high tones. Looked down catching a glimpse of the band actually vertical in the sand. The diamond setting was down in the dirt. Bingo! Ring found.
It did take about an hour but Candy and Dustin were surprised and gratefully thanked me with sincerity. It was a pleasure to help them.
Last night around 8pm I was getting ready to go out and search the Vancouver beaches after the sunny hot day we had, and we haven’t had many! Just before I left I received a call from a young lady asking if I can help her find her lost ring. Of course I dropped everything I was doing and started on my way to Crescent Beach to help her.
After 6 hours of searching for the diamond engagement ring Jen & her husband went online to search for help and that’s when they found me on TheRingFinders.com. They said that they were a little concerned about having someone they didn’t know come out and search for the ring but after seeing the website and reading the testimonials and see all the smiles they felt more comfortable with the idea.
When I arrived I met Jenn and her husband and they show me the area that they had searched, they told me a lady stopped and helped them and she recovered the wedding band.
This was good news because I knew that meant the other ring was close! That being said they didn’t mark the area where the other ring was found so it took a little while to find what I was looking for… but I did!
I love my job! I wish I could help people all day & everyday!

Wedding Ring lost in a grassy field (found) in Sugar Land, Texas by John Volek
I was contact by Lu regarding her lost wedding rings in a grassy field in Sugar Land, Texas. Lu advised while running and exercising with her husband yesterday her wedding rings flew off of her hand. Lu said they were running sprints along a walking path when her rings flew off her finger. Lu said they were able to find one of the rings, but they were not able to find the matching wedding band.

I received a call from Bryan, he had lost his wedding band during a work party out at big island on lake Minnetonka Minnesota. He and some co-workers were out on a pontoon ride, they stopped at Big Island; a great spot to hop out into the water. The water is crystal clear, the bottom is sand and it’s only about 4 feet deep. Bryan was tossing a football around when he noticed his ring flew off his finger while attempting to make a catch. He and his co-workers searched to no avail. He made a mental note as to where he was in the water and tried to mark the spot with a bottle. When he was back home searching the internet for help, he came across the ring finders website and gave me a call. I told him that time was of importance as many metal detectorists search Big island as it is a “Hot Spot” for people partying. We hopped on a pontoon and headed out for the search. Bryan did a great job putting right at the spot, though I never did see the bottle; I found his ring in approx. 10 minutes. So glad I could help out, tell your wife congrats and she picked a great ring for you 🙂

This hunt started with a mysterious call from some unknown lady asking my wife if we sold underwater metal detectors. As the only Metal Detector Business on Oahu “All Island Treasure Detectors” my wife told them yes and asked “What can I help you with?” She said she would get back with us. I got the same call on my cellphone a little while later. I told them if they need help finding an item I provide that service too. Not sure what transpired but I finally got a call Sunday June 26th from Patti from Fort Worth Texas, while jet skiing with her granddaughter at the H2O Hawaii Kai Jet Ski course on Thursday 23 June they went over a rogue wave and Patti fell off. After swimming back to the jet ski she noticed her 35 year old Rolex watch was no longer on her wrist. Her heart sank. How was she going to find it in the murky waters of the Moanalua Bay. After reading my ring finders blog Patti realized I was the one to search for her treasured Rolex watch. I had to wait for the surf and wind to subside as the area is shallow 4-10 feet deep where the watch came off. My first attempt was July 7th. Jordan from H2O Water Sports took me out in their Zodiac to the spot he had snorkeled extensively hoping to find the watch. This turned into more of a familiarization with the area dive. It was murky and the visibility was only about 6-8 feet. Any movement near the bottom stirred up silt to the point of blindness. It was apparent I needed a grid line in order to do this hunt properly. Jordan put together a bright orange 100 foot long rope with mushroom anchors at both ends for the second dive. We stretched the rope parallel to the jet ski course on the shallow west end working east to the deeper water. I went up and down the length being careful not to stir up too much silt with my Excalibur detector. Thankfully the course was fairly sterile of trash and I only found a fishing weight, a pull tab and a coin. After an hour and a half underwater I told Jordan my air was nearly gone and we’d have to do a third dive. While on the surface Jordan reviewed all the still shots we had of Patti’s jet ski ride. They are from Go Pro videos available for purchase after your exhilarating ride. Each jet ski has a Go Pro mounted to video your experience. We actually had stills of Patti’s wipe-out and the Rolex watch separating from her wrist. Buoys and landmarks helped tremendously. With hurricane remnants fast approaching Oahu Jordan and I agreed the next morning was going to be our next best chance for awhile so we arranged to meet at 6 AM the next day. Jordan reviewed every possible angle of film to get several cross fixes of where Patti went into the water. He put my dive flag on that spot. I started my grid search where I had left off the day before and worked east toward the dive flag. I found two lead weights and three targets were too deep to be the Rolex so I passed them by. After encountering a small moray eel I found an Andrew Jackson Presidential dollar. Was this a sign? Sure enough on about my 6th leg I got a screaming target. There 2 feet in front of my face slightly exposed was a golden object. It was lying between a chunk of coral and some leafy sea growth. One wave of my hand and Patti’s watch fully exposed itself. I immediately grabbed it and stood up. I was in 5 feet of water and Jordan was snorkeling about 20 feet away. I yelled, “Finally, I got it.” Jordan came over and we high-fived each other. I then turned around and within 10 feet was my dive flag where Jordan had triangulated where the watch should be. That’s damn good and a GPS quality fix. As soon as we got back to H2O Jordan texted Patti that the watch was found. Two hearts and a thumbs up emoji was all I needed to see. Persistence and Jordan’s navigation made my most difficult hunt to date successful. Aloha to Patti and of course Jordan for all the help.
I received an email from a gentleman who wrote that he had lost his wedding ring while cutting his grass.
That afternoon ring recovery went quickly, which turned out to be a really good thing because as I was traveling to the gentleman’s home on Saturday afternoon, I received a call from a woman in a nearby city who said she had lost a religious medal while cutting her grass. She too had been searching for days with no luck and she sadly described to me that she had received the pewter medal on her 19th birthday and that it was a cherished possession because it had been blessed by the Pope. Because of the earlier quick recovery, I was able to travel to her home that Saturday evening to help search for her medal. After just over an hour of searching and talking and remembering the events of the day when she had lost her medal, I got a good strong signal on my detector and there it was. The medal was close to where we felt it should have been, but we were just starting to get worried we might not find it and so we felt we had been blessed when we were able to recover it.

John Volek from Houston Metal Detecting Service in Texas called me. John , had received a call from a man in So. California that needed some help finding a ring that was possibly lost on a soccer field. John asked me if I could do a search in near San Bernardino.
. It’s about an hour away and I told him I was available. He gave me Al’s celphone number. We set up to meet Saturday so Al could get me close to the location.
We met at a local school 7am, but our first problem was the gates were locked. This was not going to stop us, so it was time to climb the 6-1/2 ft. fence.
Al lives 90 miles away and had attended a soccer coach certification class the week before. He wasn’t quite sure if his ring slipped off his finger while playing goalie. He had put on sunscreen and felt that may contributed to it slipping off his finger. He has worn the platinum wedding band for 17 years without remembering it falling off his finger.
We set up a large grid area, probably 100 ft square. The grass was very thick, I would guess 3 inches deep in most places. Good place for a ring to hide. There were other trash signals but I was confident I could pick out the platinum ID numbers. (12-17 to 12-20 on my CTX) .. I did check every signal with a 12 prefix and a depth of 4 inches. After an hour and a half getting near to the end of area we laid out. I could see Al was losing hope. Then I went down to check a 12-17 signal with my pin pointer. I put my fingers in the grass and one finger slipped right into the ring. I kept it in my hand asking Al to recheck that spot. As he checked it I pitched his ring to him. He went ballistic with joy and at the same time disbelief. It took about 20 minutes for Al to stop saying “I CAN’T BELIEVE IT”..
After thanking me thirty or forty times we got in our cars to drive home. Al drove 90 miles and I drove 70 miles. It was a fantastic day.
Joni called me earlier today upset because of losing her wedding ring at the beach yesterday, she thought it might just be lost for good, but held out some hope that I might be able to help her. I told her I would meet her at the beach so she could show me where she thought it might have come off. She said it would take her a while, because at the time she was about 150 miles away, so I waited for her to let me know when she was close, so I could leave to meet her.
I met Joni at the beach, she showed me where she thought the ring had come off, and explained what she was doing when she thought she lost it. She had brushed the sand off her clothes, and it flew off during that action. I began my search working my way out from the initial area, finding foil and bottle caps. I felt like I had moved out far enough, and then increased the length of my grid. I was out about 20 feet from the original area when I received the signal I was waiting for. I put in my scoop, and up comes this beautiful diamond ring. Joni could see it in the scoop, and came right over to see if it was hers. I held it up , and a flood of emotion came over her. She told me how she had not been able to even sleep last night because of this loss. It was sure great to leave the beach after being able to create such a wonderful smile.
