Lost Wedding Ring .. Strand Beach .. Dana Point, CA. .. Recovered

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

I was contacted by Jason who found me on line at TheRingFinders.com . Jason and his family had spent the day at Strand Beach which is located at Dana Point, CA. He placed his wedding band in the cup holder on his beach chair. They had picked up their chairs and walked a few hundred feet towards the car when Jason remembered the ring.
He went back to search for the ring. It had to be in the sand and could not be found by hand searching.  Jason did take a good look at the location which was a great help to me when I arrived with my metal detector.
The beach is a long walk down a steep stairway. The tide was coming in which caused us to navigate over large breakwater boulders to get to the area where they had spent the day.
Thanks to Jason for putting me on the exact location. It was a quick recovery. The ring was under about 3″ of wet sand right at the edge of the incoming tide. We had to walk about a quarter mile back to the car, but it didn’t seem that far as we talked about this service and the success of finding Jason’s ring that means so much to him..

Just got home and the phone rings. Hi John, I got your number on the internet “TheRingFinders.com

🙂
I was down at the beach at tower ?? last night and lost my 25 yr old wedding ring. I asked more info on area and asked if he could meet
NOW. He said yes, so we both headed there. Parking was packed so I called him and let him know where to park. Then my phone died, damn. I get to the area and start detecting, nail, nail, nail, quarter, penny, penny.
I look up to see a man waveing so I go over, Hi I’m Colin, I think I was way down there. I said you must have big feet. 🙂 he had said 50′ ft from tower. We both laugh and head down the beach, only off by 50′.
Almost every call is off.
Did the whole area but nothing,? So I head closer to the water between a group who had offered to mover there stuff and
beep beep. I was smilein so I turned my back to him as I looked in to see a mens 14k gold band. Ok, what color is it ? He says Yellow 14k stamp is worn off. I hand him the ring and the beach comes alive with claps and cheers. What a great feeling. As we walk back he tells me he called his ins but had a $1,000.00 deductable. Ouch.
That doesnt matter now cause he’s got it back.
When you really want it back,

Car keys found on the top of Mt. Baldhead, Saugatuck, Mich

  • from Holland (Michigan, United States)

Brent, Maria and son Chase were on a short vacation from Indiana with friends.  They took a hike up to the summit of Mt. Baldhead, and afterwards Maria discovered herbaldhead car keys missing-the only keys they had for their car.  They had been in her backpack at the start of the hike, but going down the other side of the dune she had fallen, and assumed that is where she lost the keys.

The easy part of this hunt was actually finding the keys.  Getting to the spot where Maria fell was another matter entirely!  We climbed the 302 steps to the top of Mt. Baldhead, then hiked down the other side of the dune in soft, loose sand for about 60 yards to get to the spot where she had fallen.  Scanning the area I got a faint signal–and there were her keys.

As you can see, the trail behind Maria is pretty steep and we had to go back up that way and then down the 302 steps back to the cars.  It was a hot and humid day, but Maria still had a smile on her face.

Diamond Pendant Found and Returned in Dunedin, Florida

Sandy was working in her garden when a fly started annoying her. She swatted at the fly and accidently hooked into her 3 diamond pendant and sent it flying into the flower garden somewhere. She rented a metal detector and had no luck finding her pendant. She then contacted SRARC and Howard Metts went to the home to search for the pendant. Howard started hunting with his detector but soon realized that he would have to use a pinpointer to hunt through the flower bushes. After 20 minutes or so he came up with the pendant which has 3 heart shaped diamonds each representing one of her three children. Sandy was so excited to get the pendant back, especially since her family will be moving out of the home in the near future and she did want to leave her precious pendant behind.

Lost Wedding Ring Found and Returned on Madeira Beach, Florida

Garrett and his wife Kristin were spending the weekend on Madeira Beach with her two brothers and their families. They had all decided to do a special trip to the beach celebrating Kristin’s niece’s birthday. Saturday afternoon Garrett and his brothers in law were tossing a football in the water when his wedding ring came off his finger and he watched it drop in the water and disappear in the sand below. He and Kristin were married in March and now the ring is gone just 4 months later. Kristin’s niece asked them if they were still married now that the ring was gone. They reassured her “yes we are still married”.

Jonathan, Garrett’s brother in law started a Google search to rent a metal detector and contacted Phil Myer of Myers of Myers Detector Depot. Phil told him to contact SRARC and they would come out and search for it. Jonathan contacted Tom Jones who was having lunch at the time with Joe Szemer on Treasure Island. After lunch the two headed up to Madeira Beach and met up with the family. After getting the details Joe and Tom started searching. The hunt went on for 45 minutes and neither hunter had found a single target, much less the ring. Tom started hunting a pattern up and down the beach moving closer to the water line each time thinking that the tide was going out and waist deep water at noon could be knee deep by 2:30. Finally a good target was heard and the ring appeared in Tom’s scoop. The whole family ran over the see the ring, amazed that it could even be found.

Before saying goodbye, Tom gave them his normal newlywed speech.

“Remember this day for the rest of your married life. If a time comes when things get tough, remember back to this day and realize that nothing is impossible”.

Wedding Ring Lost, Found and Returned at Clearwater Beach, Florida

Marco and his wife were in town from Miami vacationing in St. Petersburg when they decided to spend the day at Clearwater Beach.  Marco was doing some digging in the sand and decided that it would be best to give his wife his wedding ring for safe keeping.  She put the ring in their beach bag and they went about enjoying the beach until a storm swept in rapidly and they were forced to leave the beach in a hurry.  When they got to the car, they discovered Marco’s ring was missing.  Fortunately for Marco, the valet at the Hyatt is very aware of the SRARC’s ring finder team and told Marco’s to call on them.  Marco called Tom jones who passed on to team member Stan Flack to see if we could locate the ring.  By now it was dark so with Marco and his wife leaving the next day, Stan suggested a very early morning hunt and the two met on Clearwater beach at 6 a.m.  Unfortunately the place marker Marco had left of where they had been was now gone, but a few clues were still there including Marco’s eye for detail on a few beach trash items he remembered seeing.  A little daylight, a little deducing on a path of travel, and a dash of luck and Stan had the ring in his scoop in about 20 minutes.  A stunned Marco was very happy to have his ring back with smiles and high fives all the way around.

Platinum Wedding Band Lost & Found In Winchester Garden

  • from Bournemouth (England, United Kingdom)
Contact:

Mr Owen Jones of Winchester was very upset to lose his Platinum Wedding Band when playing catch with his son in his garden recently. Even though he had felt the ring be launched from his finger the good news was that both he and his wife heard the ring land close by hitting a wall. This information to all ring finders like myself is very reassuring as the search area is narrowed down and time spent reduced. This though however… turned out not to be the case.
A couple of days after receiving the call I arrived to find a small neat garden with wood chip borders and grass neatly cut. We reenacted the moments leading to the rings loss and focused on the area they had heard the ring land. The search of the garden bore nothing so the search continued over the garden wall and into the dense undergrowth. After nearly two hours in driving rain still nothing and we were quite perplexed as to its whereabouts.
Though a ‘quick look’ around the neighbors garden had been done and the ring was heard to fall elsewhere I decided the neighbors was still worth another look. We knew the ring had made a ‘dink’ sound so I began to look for hard objects it could have struck. Without even turning the CTX on my eye was drawn to a clay pot where at the base of it lay the ring.
Those first few seconds after you find what you’ve been looking for is a feeling of relief and excitement, I wonder how relieved our clients must feel?!
Mr Jones was extremely relieved to have the ring back as was I after such a difficult job detecting through the undergrowth in the pouring rain. My charity, Margret Green Animal Rescue received a generous donation from the Jones family.
Oh…. the ‘dink’ sound the ring made and the search of the wrong garden??? I put this down to the echo they received of the ring landing against the pot in the neighbors garden.IMG_2358

Found Ring Hiding with the Hawaiian Sea Urchins on Hapuna Beach, Big Island, Hawaii

Greg with his lost - and found - wedding ring!

Gregory – reunited with his gold men’s wedding ring. His ring was lost during his honeymoon while snorkeling in the tropical waters off of Hapuna Beach – and found by Big Island Metal Detecting – while thousands of miles from Hawaii! We were happy to reunite him with his lost treasure! Hapuna Beach, Big Island, Hawaii.

“A ROLLING RING GATHERS SOME MOSS…”

Turns out that even gold rings gather moss.

We got an email from Gregory asking us to hunt for his lost ring at one of the Big Island’s most hunted spots by metal detectorists – Hapuna Beach.

Gregory had been on his honeymoon and snorkeling in shallow water. At dinner, his wife noticed his ring was missing – and they were gutted to think they’d never see it again! (We hear many stories of newly-weds having their lost rings discovered at dinner…!)

It took Gregory a week to find us and there were some major hurdles working against finding his ring : The first was the fact that it had been over a week since he’d lost it! The second strike was that he’d lost off of one of the the most-treasure-hunted beaches in Hawaii. The third was he wasn’t here to retrace his steps or point out the most probable places it was lost! As we discussed the area, he was on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, thousands of miles away, in Oregon…!

As I searched for the ring, I checked every crag and rock – including the little urchin holes – trying to imagine I was him on my honeymoon; an adventurous man, yet “not a strong swimmer,” as he’d described his own foray into the water. I worked from the sand – through the water, rocks and eddies made by the shifting tides. Nothing but a few pieces of junk.

As I got to the deepest point I could search, I turned around and retraced my steps back to the shallows, following the Google Maps points Greg had noted, as well as I could remember. The water was a slurry mix of fresh and salt water which causes one’s vision to blur.

Blurry but free of moss, I put the gold hammered ring back in place to take this image where I found it in the rocks surrounded by sharp sea urchins. Hapuna Beach, Hawaii

2016-07-12 14.08.29

The lovely, tropical bay where Gregory’s ring was lost. We found it – and returned it – a beautiful hammered gold men’s wedding ring!

A mossy circle grabbed my attention between two sea urchins jammed in the rocks. A piece of pipe most likely. The blurry water and the swaying moss growing on the object felt almost dream-like as I pulled it out of its home between the sharp spines of the urchins.

I often put men’s found or recovered rings on my thumb to keep them from being lost again!

Almost as a magician had waved a wand, the object shed all of its camouflage as I pulled it close to my mask to inspect it – from green moss to brilliant white and yellow gold – the ring glimmered into reality in front of my eyes!

I took a moment underwater to thank God, appreciate this beautiful, ornate and heavy ring, and contemplate what it would mean to Gregory and his new wife that I’d found it.

A Hawaiian “shaka” with Gregory’s found gold men’s wedding ring. Big Island, Hawaii.

The ring had been hidden but it had almost jumped out at me as I passed even though it had “grown” moss over the week it had been lost. We’re so glad to have been part of this story in their new marriage. Mahalo for trusting us to find your treasure!

On 06/16/2016, I was contacted by a gentleman regarding the loss of a Platinum wedding band belonging to his wife that had been lost in the sand on Lewes Beach. The gentleman indicated that his wife had been digging in the sand at the time that the ring was lost. The gentleman asked if I could assist in finding the lost ring, I told him that I would be at the location of the lost ring in about fifteen minutes. After arriving at Lewes Beach I made contact with the gentleman and he showed me the area on the beach where the ring was lost in the sand. Lost Ring FOUND in Kerrville area river!

  • from Kerrville (Texas, United States)

On Thursday I received a call from Brad who asked if I was able to conduct water searches with a metal detector? He told me that on the July 4th weekend he had lost his gold wedding ring while playing with his kids in the Guadalupe River near Kerrville, Texas. Brad and I talked for a while about the circumstances of the loss and the river depth at the loss location. Brad told me he was in approximately waist deep in the river and had a good idea of the location of the loss. He said there were attempts to search for the ring to no avail. As Brad lives out of town we decided to meet on Saturday morning to search for the ring. Wow, I thought, my very first call out will be water search!

Saturday Morning:

My wife, Kathy, and I arrived at the site on the beautiful Guadalupe River.  This area of the river is lined with huge Cypress trees and typically has a river rock (1/2″ to 3″ rocks) bottom. Brad was already there with family members and he pointed out the area that he was wading in when he thought he lost his ring. I asked him about the water depth and said the target area extends to just above waist deep depth. I’m glad he wasn’t a basketball player as I am only 5’9″! He explained that he was in the water and the kids were playing on the floating dock. He also said that he had kept people out of the general area to help keep the water clear. Thank you Brad!

While waiting on my searching partner (my son Shane), Kathy and I got the Garrett AT Pro out along with my other gear. I entered the river about 30′ downstream of the dock proceed to sweep out towards the river center. The water was very cool but felt great as the ambient temperature was already reaching 90 degrees. Water visibility was cloudy and a touch to the bottom stirred up silt. Within 10 feet of bank and still only in knee deep water I got a nice indicator signal on my Garrett AT Pro. As Shane was not there yet I marked the spot with a 3′ piece of iron rebar so I could easily locate the spot again. I continued sweeping into deeper water when Shane arrived with his goggles and scoop. We ventured out as far as we could (chest deep), then turned and starting sweeping back to the bank. The river bottom was really clean of iron and we got another hit. With his goggles on Shane dove down into the bottom and retrieved a good scoop of gravel.  He sifted through it not finding anything.  A further slow sweep of the suspected target revealed no indications of hits so we moved on towards the bank.

When we got even with the location I marked with the rebar I told Shane “Let’s go ahead and explore this target that I marked earlier.” I again was able to acquire a a good signal and Shane when down again. This time when he came up he had the ring on his index finger! Brad and his family were standing on the bank watching and he yelled “You got it?” “Yes, we got it!” He ran down into the water and I handed him his (not) lost ring! His smile was big but I’m sure mine was just as big. EVERYONE WAS HAPPY!

Thanks Brad for contacting me through The Ring Finders and thanks to my son Shane for being my wing man in our FIRST The Ring Finders search.

Remember, call The Ring Finders to help you retrieve your lost items. It’s better to call as soon as possible after the the loss!
