Gorgeous platinum and diamond engagement ring lost in Richfield, MN – Now found!

  • from Saint Paul (Minnesota, United States)

Colleen and her fiance had just finished raking, bagging and setting bagged leaves out in the road in front of their house when Colleen noticed that her platinum engagement ring was no longer on her finger; so they immediately put the bags of leaves in the garage and started searching.

They searched everywhere: the back yard where they bagged the leaves, the spot in the backyard where they temporarily set the bags, in front of the house where they placed the the bags to be picked up.  They even dumped out and searched two of the bags of leaves, but they still came up empty-handed.  So they purchased a metal detector to help in the search, but the metal detector was beeping at everything and didn’t have much depth.  That’s when they decided call for help.

I got the call the following day and made arrangements to come out and find the ring that evening.  Colleen was visibly upset and I knew we had to find it.  First I gridded the front yard, but came up with nothing.  The same thing happened with the back yard and out by the street.  That left just two places where the ring could still be found: inside the garage in one of the bags or in the leaves from one of the bags still spread out on the garage floor.

I first searched the leaves on the floor and the ring was not there.  So we decided to see if we could detect the ring in any of the bags full of leaves without dumping them out.  I got a good solid hit on the first bag we tried and told Colleen that this was probably her ring.  So I dumped the leaves out on the floor and found the solid signal: a large piece of foil!   This was very disheartening to us all.  What were the chances that a large piece of foil would be in that bag?

I continued to search the dumped out leaves from that same bag and very quickly got another solid signal.  I let Colleen and her fiance know that it could be the ring, but I really didn’t want to get their hopes up again only to find another piece of foil.  I uncovered the object in the leaves and exclaimed This sure looks nice and shiny to me!’.  And, sure enough, it was Colleen’s engagement ring!

Interesting to note: they had emptied and searched that same bag that we found the ring in.  They emptied it on the garage floor, searched the leaves and bagged them them back up.

We were all thrilled to see the ring back on Colleen’s finger!

Lost ring at Pacific Beach Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Thursday evening, Paolo decided to go into the ocean, so, he removed his wedding ring and gave it to his wife Celine for safekeeping. Celine placed it on one of her fingers and waited on a berm in the dry sand for his return. As the sun was setting, they got up and left the beach. Once they reached their car, it was discovered the wedding ring was missing from Celine’s finger. They returned to the area where they had been, but, in the failing light and acres of sand, the search was fruitless. Fast forward to Tuesday when I received an e-mail from Celine who relayed the sad story and asked if I could help find it. We made arrangements to meet the next morning at 10am. Being several days later, I explained that many different fates for the ring could have occurred. It’s a popular beach for other detectorist to search, so, it could have already been found, the beach grooming machines usually go through the area early Monday morning, the high surf could have washed over the area and buried it, etc. I met Celine up on the boardwalk and we hiked down to the search area. She was a little uncertain of the exact area where she was sitting, so, I searched many spots one by one, eliminating them all. I then started running a grid from where she was sitting to the stairs where they exited the beach. After 4 passes and about an hour and a half, I finally got a likely sound and reading on my E-trac. One scoop and I pulled up Paolo’s ring. Celine was amazed that it was found, as, she figured it was a long shot. It was just a matter of time on this one. I was finding other good targets in the area, so, I knew nobody else had detected there. I just had to keep expanding the search area until I ran across it. They had been married for just a month, so, I was happy to get this ring back to them, so it can add another chapter in it’s story. Celine decided not to tell Paolo right away, but, instead to surprise him at dinner! I bet he will be!20161116_113327 20161116_113352

Lost My Ring In The Garden, North Vancouver, BC.

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

It was a rainy day and I got a call to search for a lost ring in a garden in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver. I love these calls and rain or snow wouldn’t stop me from searching!

The young lady was certain the ring was some where in the garden because she took it off and put it in her jacket pocket along with her glasses.

She found the glasses in the garden but no ring, I started by searching the bags of garden trimmings but no luck. I then began to search the garden area and still no luck, I asked more question and she told me that she spent an hour in the garden shed.

Bing! That was the one place we hadn’t checked and after searching the whole shed the very last plastic planter I got a great signal with my pin pointer.

There it was in the bottom of the plastic planter…it was a nice relief to see it there as we were running out of options! Its funny where rings can show up and if it didn’t it may have been there a very long time.

She offered me food and he gave me 2 huge boxes of DVD movies! I love this hobby!

One of a kind wedding ring recovered in Caledonia, Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

Ann T. called me, while I was assembling the Christmas Lite Show in Comstock Park, MI, about her ring that she lost last Friday. Ann is a photographer and while taking family pictures in Prairie Wolf Park, Ann picked up a handful of leaves to use as a prop for her picture and noticed her ring was missing. Her ring was designed by her husband and was a one of a kind very heavy Platinum ring with a diamond center, she was very upset about the loss and posted the loss on Facebook. She received a reply to look up The Ring Finders. This is where I was referred to her by Tom Townsend another Ring Finder.

I set up an appointment for today to meet her at the park and search for her ring. Ann laid out the process as to where leaves were picked up and the walk down the hill where the pictures were taken. I searched the area to begin with at the starting point while my brother Doug searched the bottom of the hill. I joined Doug at the bottom of the hill shortly after coming up with nothing at the starting point. A thorough search was made at the bottom of the hill so we made our way up the hill to the starting point being joined by Ring Finder, Dave Boyer, a strong signal was received just to the right of my original search. The ring was found and a phone call was made to Ann.

Amazed that we found her ring we joined her at her home for the presentation.  Ann is a very happy and relieved woman and thanked The Ring Finders.

Wedding Ring Found Near Burlington Vermont

I got an email from a lady who asked me to help find a “very special” ring, her husband’s wedding band was lost. After realizing it was missing he thought back until the last time he knew he had it on his finger. He figured it was probably somewhere in their yard. He had been out washing their motor coach, loading motorcycles onto a trailer, and giving some attention to one of their 4 rescue dogs. The grass was still pretty lush and deep, so it could easily be hiding a ring. She and her husband just got married in September, so this really shook them both up. He went back to the jewelry store and purchased an identical ring, but after wearing it for a day he stilled missed that original ring. Many people have told me that the original ring is the one that is really connected to their heart! I was recommended to her to help look for his ring, so she contacted me. I went right over after getting out of work. She showed me the areas he had been and I began the search. We got all excited when a good tone rang out, but it was one of their dog’s tags. The sun went down and it was getting cold fast. A little while later another tone sounded good, and their it was, deep in the grass and still in pristine condition! I handed it to her and the relief and happiness took over. I was so happy for them, I love helping people!

Man’s gold wedding band lost in Bloomington, MN – Now found!

  • from Saint Paul (Minnesota, United States)

It was a warm day for November in Minnesota – about 65 degrees.  I got a call in the late afternoon and told Evan’s wife I’d leave soon and get there by 6:00.  It was nice out, so I decided to do something a little different and take my 1966 Corvette on the 35-mile drive to find the lost ring.

Evan was playing with his kids in the leaves he had just raked off his backyard deck when he noticed that his ring was gone.  He and his wife searched the area as best as they could, but just couldn’t find the ring.

The search took all of about 10 minutes.  Evan was thrilled to get his ring back and, being a previous Corvette owner himself, wanted his picture taken with the car!

Lost in dark water – newly wed’s wedding ring found! Kailua Kona, Hawaii.

“Just Beyond Sylvie’s Tippy Toes”
Paul and his wife had only been married three days when he lost his ring in the water while here on honeymoon! Adding insult to injury, he’d been playing with his new wedding ring on his finger and literally watched it fall to the ocean bottom when he’d loosened it too much. He felt sick and his wife was devastated.
Having had close-encounters with Kona’s local tiger shark population, we typically don’t search at night in the water – BUT – Paul was adamant that it may be the end of his new marriage so due to the shallow bay he’d lost it in, we made the exception to do a water hunt at night…
I was on another ring search so Sylvie searched the area until dark. When I arrived she’d scanned thoroughly in the water up to her chin. Paul felt hope was lost.

Sylvie had looked just about everywhere in the dark water of the bay. Kailua Kona, Hawaii

Sylvie is so good with her detector that I knew I wouldn’t have to re-check the area she’d scanned. Thankfully, the tide had been slowly dropping so I started scanning in chest deep water – which would have been just to Sylvie’s chin an hour before.
It was beautiful in the cool, dark water. Small schools of fish darted around – but I kept my long metal scoop handle between me and the deeper water of the bay’s entrance “just in case” something bigger was driving the baitfish my way!
I was jolted out of my calmed state as the detector suddenly whined. I was now just on my toes, in water as deep as I could stand in. I called my friend who was with us and he came out with a flashlight. I scooped and the flashlight glinted through the holes of the stainless steel scoop. Little krill and fish darted around the beams of light. Got it!

Great relief! The found ring brought Paul’s wife to tears!

Paul called his wife and she came sprinting over just as I got out of the water with his platinum ring in hand.

We told Paul not to play with his ring in the ocean! 🙂 We’re glad he got it back and it wasn’t lost on the beach or under the water forever!

We were all elated and discussed the long, dark hunt. While I’d actually located the ring, by rights the “find” should have been Sylvie’s really – she had done the lion’s share of the work by eliminating all of the places the ring wasn’t! I’d had the height advantage of a few inches – and a lower tide – when I’d looked which in the end was all that was needed to reveal the ring! She’d been a few inches short of finding it.
Paul and his wife went to have a well-deserved drink and we headed back in the dark to find some dry towels. Team work did it again – Another marriage saved!

Lost wedding ring found in 7 inches of snow

  • from Bruce (South Dakota, United States)

image3 image1-1This search was not initiated through the ring finders site, but I wanted to share it anyway for the happy ending.  Back in November of 2014, I received a call from a guy whom I work with asking me if I would be willing to help a friend of his find his lost wedding band.  It was on a Saturday, and I wasn’t working, so I said I would help. It had just snowed 7 inches of fresh light snow that night before, so I thought it might be a challenge, but I’d give it my best shot.  I had been handing out some business cards at work the week before to let people know I help people find lost items, jewelry, and anything they may value.   So,when this guy’s friend lost his wedding band he gave me a call.  I had told my friend at work, that I only ask for gas money and any reward was up to the client.

I use an ACE 250 with an 8 inch butterfly  coil which I have used many times when I am coin shooting.  The wedding ceremony was held at a reception hall that used to be a church, and the area where he lost the ring was not very big,  maybe 20 feet by 15 feet, but there was still 7 or more inches of snow, albeit very soft light stuff.  I met the two guys out in front of the building as they were still looking over the ground thinking they might see something.

They told me that this guy, I’ll call him Bob,as I don’t remember his name, and a few other guys had been out playing in the snow and throwing snowballs at each other.  When they decided to go inside for a while Bob noticed his wedding ring missing from his finger. They all went outside and after searching for about 15 minutes, someone found the ring.   Bob was relieved and they went back inside for a while to warm up.

Then about a hour later, the same group went back outside and started playing in the snow throwing snowballs.  After a while they got too cold again and they went inside to warm up, again.  It was, then,  and there that Bob noticed his wedding ring was missing again.  So, that’s when my friend called me and asked if I could help.

After I searched the big area where all the snowball fights took place with no luck, I concentrated on an area that was closer to the sidewalk.  I asked Bob where he had been standing when the last episode of snowball fights took place.  I swept over the area twice and I  had been there for 15 minutes or more and the winds were starting to get stronger and I was getting colder.  I decided to look near a sidewalk that led to a door that they used to get in and out of the hall.  After a minute or two of swinging the coil closer to that walkway, I got a beep and a pretty strong signal.   I used my Garrett Pro-pointer to get down closer, and there was the ring, about 2 feet from the doorway just off the sidewalk.  Bob was so happy to finally find it again, as his new wife was already not too  happy with him and this situation.   My friend took pictures of me and Bob and the lost/now found ring.  It was a titanium ring and not a cheap one to lose.  Bob asked me what he owed me, and I said just for some gas, and he then dished out $30.00 which I happily accepted.  This was a first time for me to help find anything for anybody, so it was very glad I could help and that my metal detecting hobby was getting more and more rewarding.
