Lost Platinum Wedding Ring Recovered in Raleigh N.C. on 1/30/17

This morning on 1/30/17 , I was contacted by a gentleman about his wedding ring he had lost while at a local soccer park yesterday with his son. We discussed the lost ring and all the details of where he had lost it and how.. After speaking to him I agreed to meet him at the park today to do the search and find his ring.. I assured him it would be a easy search and I would be able to find his ring since he was sure of the area he lost it in.. That’s also assuming nobody already found it and picked it up which happens a lot.

When I got there it was around 1:00 pm and I gave him a call to let him know i was there like we had agreed. While I was waiting for him to get there to walk me through everything that happened when he lost the ring I decided to start my investigation and search early to see if I could locate it. I got my long range electroscope called the fieldscope out of my truck and my detector. I started scanning the area with my fieldscope to see if I could get a lock on it. Right away I started picking up the hits. I followed the line in on the hits and used my detector for conformation to locate the ring. I was able to locate the ring in about 5 minutes of searching with the help of my fieldscope / electroscope. The ring was recovered in the center of the soccer field before he even arrived. I was happy to be able to help him out.

Diamond Ring Lost in Surf .. Balboa Pier, CA. .. Found and Returned

Dana called me asking if I was available to help her friend find an diamond engagement ring lost in the sand near the Balboa pier. Her friend Candace had been posing for a video that her fiancé, Mike was shooting with his iPhone. They actually had a video of the moment the ring flew from her finger.
I asked if the ring was lost in the surf or on dry sand. They told me it was ankle deep water. We were fortunate as the tide was falling which would be in our favor for a successful search. It would be about two hours till I could get there but I needed them to wait if possible.
When I arrived we still had enough sunlight and the water had receded enough to get me to possible places the ring could be. I chose to start with my new Deus metal detector. After grid searching the location they believed the ring to be, I was beginning to think of expanding more to the south. I was on my last pass at the water’s edge when I heard the signal I was listen for.
It was Candace’s beautiful rose gold diamond engagement ring. The ring had probably gone more than 15 feet into the surf from where she had been standing when the loss occurred. Amazing that it was only 4 or 5 inches deep in very mushy soft sand.
It was awesome to see the happiness that came to everybody that thought this ring was lost forever. Also a pleasure to meet everyone and help find this symbol of their love for each other.

Wedding Ring Lost at Manhattan Beach, CA…Recovered and Joyously Returned.

Last night about 8:15 PM Wes called to ask if I would be able to help him find his wedding ring he believed he lost while he was at the beach playing volleyball earlier in the evening. I think he was a bit surprised when I said I would meet him at the spot for a search in about 1/2 an hour. I wanted to search the area immediately, because there are too many variables at work that make the finding of a lost ring or other jewelry harder to find at the beach or other public location like a park as well. Wes said he would meet me there, and I was on my way.

When I got there, I met Wes, and he guided me to the volleyball court. We talked about the loss, and what he thought he might have done to cause the ring to come off. Well, Wes did not realize when the ring had come off because he was so involved in the game, and it could have been anywhere on the court. I resolved to grid the court completely in order to insure nothing was missed. Wes followed my search with a flashlight I had given to him to use. I made one pass, and got a bottle cap. Two more passes, then a loud screaming in my head phones (even Wes could hear it). I dug, and in my scoop was his ring, and I said to him that I thought I had what he was looking for. Needless to say was was very happy to see his ring. He told me he had been married for 10 years, and this was the ring his wife had given him on that day.

What a great way to spend an evening, to be able to create such a smile as this, to bring the joy back to this family, and to know that they all slept well last night; a night of good feelings.

I’m incredibly grateful for Steve’s help last night. I figured I’d leave a voicemail and hear back from him the next business day, being that it was 8:30 at night, but he picked up my call and said he’d meet me at the volleyball court in 30 minutes. Seriously? And the search process was equally impressive – it took him all of about 10 minutes to find my wedding ring, which could’ve been just about anywhere on/off the court. Steve, thank you for putting a huge smile on my (and my wife’s) face. You’re clearly a passionate and talented guy, and I hope many others will read this post, give you a call, and experience the same excitement and relief that I did last night. Thank you again, Steve. Lost Kids Hearing Aid at Seymour Mountain Vancouver, BC…In the Snow

I got the call the other night and this call I knew would be a tough search, because it was for a kids hearing aid and they are hard to find due to the little metal used to make them. I talked to Sue and she said that she was pretty sure of the location it was lost in so I said lets meet and take a look.

We were to meet the next day at 6:45 am and when we got there it was a nice day, still not light out but nice that it wasn’t snowing. I took a few detectors not expecting them to work as I’ve had some tough times with these hearing aids in the past. I noticed that the one detector wasn’t doing that good with getting a strong signal so I took out the trusted Garrett carrot and started the long process of grid searching on my hands & knees.

I told Sue that she and her husband & son should go for breakfast as it could take a few hours, before they left I asked if I could test the other hearing aid with my last detector…The Garrett AT Gold and bingo! I got a good strong signal.

I went back and started re-searching the whole area and I found it under a couple of inches of snow by a small tree!

What a great felling to know that I will be able to give it back and surprise them all…

Lost Wedding Ring of 50+ years in Pearland, Texas (found) by John Volek

Wedding Ring of 50+ years lost while trimming scrubs and pulling weeds.

Jim reported he had been working in his yard yesterday trimming scrubs and pulling weeds from the flower beds.  Jim said when he awoke this morning he realized that his wedding ring of 58 years was no longer on his finger. Jim assumed, he had lost it while working in the backyard. Jim said he had been wearing gloves and had pulled them off numerous times while working in the yard. Jim said he was pretty sure it must have come of his finger at some point when removing his gloves.

Lost Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Hickam Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I saw a text on my phone from my wife that said call Hillary at Hickam Beach she lost her ring again. I just came in from a scuba dive hunt so I was packed for whatever scenario came up. I called Hillary and she said remember me you hunted for my ring last year at Ko Olina and now I’ve lost it in 1 foot of water at Hickam Beach. I told Hillary no worry I’ll be there in about 30 minutes. When I arrived Hillary showed me where she was holding her toddler son’s hand in the water and the ring came off. The tide was up and the shore surge was fairly significant. As light as the ring was it could have been pushed up onto the beach. Only an hour expired since she lost it so I figured not much movement. I went from waist deep to up onto the dry sand line but only found 2 pull tabs and a quarter. I asked Hillary again to explain to me how the ring came off and we decided it possibly had gotten flung rather than a straight drop into the water. I told her I would go out to chest deep water this time. Low and behold straight out from where she thought she lost the ring in 3 feet of water I got a screaming target and there was Hillary’s gorgeous engagement ring. It was a good 15 feet out from where she thought. Then I handed her the ring, she gave me a big hug and that bright smile. That’s what its all about. On a side note Hillary has used TRF three times once with our guru hunter Justin. I told Hillary your a beautiful girl but I don’t want to see you again!!! Aloha to Hillary!

Custom Silver Ring Lost at Venice Beach CA…Recovered and Happily Returned.

I received a call from Antony last night, he was desperate about his ring he lost at the beach just an hour earlier. I told him I would go as soon as I finished my dinner, knowing that the sooner you search at a public place, the better the odds of finding what was lost.

Antony met me at the location, and explained how the loss occurred, and what metal the ring was made of. He said that he was walking his dog, and threw the leash when the ring flew off of his finger. He also told me it was a silver ring. Now I have had enough experiences over my time of doing ring searches to know that not everyone really knows what metal their ring is, so I dug everything that sounded gold or silver, and everything in between, I did not want to miss his ring. He told me that a friend had made it custom for him, and that his was 1 of 4 this person had created, and he would be heartsick to have to tell this friend he had lost it. I searched into the night with no ring, and it was getting so late that I decided to call an end to the search, because of the area (it can get pretty criminal late in the night). I told him I would come back in the morning to complete my search, and expand it if necessary. I did ask him if there were any identifying features or engravings on the ring, and he immediately said, yes, it is a skull ring. I figured, if I dug it I should recognize it with no problem.

I got there this morning, and Antony met me again. I began a cross grid of last night to make sure I had not missed the ring. My search last night had been very thorough, there was no ring. I then began to expand the area, and after about 4 more passes I got a real strong silver signal in my head phones, and in the sand I had scooped out was the biggest, heaviest silver skull ring I had ever seen. It really looked like pirate treasure. He was right it was silver, and his ring must have had 2 to 3 ounces of silver in it. Antony had left while I was searching, so I called his phone to let him know I had found the ring, but the call went into voice mail. I left a message hoping he would get back to me, but no reply. So I just kept detecting, because I could see his car, so I knew he hadn’t left the area. About 45 minutes later he called me to let me know he was coming, and when he arrived and saw his ring he was elated, gave me a big hug, and told me he had been getting a hair cut. Good to be looking nice when you are really happy. Another great day, being able to make another great smile.

I was contacted by Sona regarding her husbands lost wedding in the backyard of their home. Sona said her husband had lost his wedding ring a few days prior while doing yard work in the backyard. Sona said her husband had lost his ring while spreading out some dirt (mud) and pulling weeds from a small garden in the backyard.

Sentimental Good Ring Lost in Sand .. Marina Del Rey, CA. .. Found with Metal Detector

Samantha had been visiting with friends that live on the beach front. The night before calling me she had run out onto the sand. Throwing her arms in the air, she felt her ring fly off her finger. It was a gold ring that her mother had worn for years before giving it to Samantha.
We had a lot of things in our favor that could make this a successful search. First, was the ring had been lost within the last 12 hours. Second, was Samantha had actually felt the ring leave her finger. Third, was they had a good recollection of the area, which was about 150′ x 150′. It was also an area of the beach that doesn’t get raked very often..
After Samantha explained what she had done when the loss occurred, I chose to start from the beach side, gridding in the direction of the walkway. A lucky choice, because on the third pass I got a nice gold tone from my new XP Deus metal detector. After digging the signal, there was her ring in my sand scoop.

Lost ring in Lake Baldwin, Orlando, Fl……Found!

Can you imagine it’s your wedding day and everything is ready?! The chairs are all set up, the guests have arrived and the ceremony begins. It’s the perfect day to be outdoors, in the gazebo, on the lake. And partway through the ceremony the bride’s sister-in-law is holding the rings in a small box and just to make sure they are ready, she opens the box and somehow the brides ring drops to the deck and bounces off into the 9 foot deep water! Stunned and in shock, she cannot believe what just happened. After the ceremony the sister-in-law actually jumped into the cold water hoping to be able to retrieve the ring, but with all the weeds and soft muddy bottom, plus being 9 feet deep—it was hopeless!
Nichole contacted theringfinders.com and made arrangements to have someone meet her and attempt to recover her ring. Much to her dismay the first members search proved unsuccessful. And after looking further on theringfinders.com website she read some of the stories posted under my blog and decided to give me a call. I assured Nichole I would do everything possible to get her ring back. My first step was to call a good friend of mine, named Chris C.. He is a certified diver and has a passion for diving. A few days later we made plans to meet at the lake, suit up and find Nichole’s lost ring. But the cold water, the soft muddy bottom and an absolutely ton of weeds growing up through the mud made searching very difficult. It was impossible to actually swing a metal detector along the bottom so I opted to use my Garrett AT Pro Pointer to go inch by inch through the mud. (Nichole had shown me the precise area where the ring fell into the water so it was a matter of removing all the metal targets to be able to find her ring.) Every 5 inches I would get a signal–fish hooks, lures, coins, bottle caps, screws, nails and even a water logged cell phone and a small stainless ring were just some of the items retrieved in the 40 minutes under water. Then finally, in a hand full of mud, up came Nichole’s lost ring! It was hard to contain my excitement as I added some air to my BC and headed to the surface. What a thrill! I called Nichole and asked her if she was sitting down and then gave her the good news! She could hardly believe that we had actually found her ring and insisted I send her a picture just to make sure it was really her ring. Thank you so much for your generous reward and thank you Chris for the use of your equipment and for giving me a taste of what diving is all about! I plan to get certified and look forward to other underwater searches!
