Ring Recovery in Wake Forest (Falls Lake)

  • from Raleigh (North Carolina, United States)

Of all the places to lose a ring, “in the lake” has to be one of the most difficult. The ring moves as it settles to the bottom, you can’t see the bottom, and you need to use waterproof gear.

I was contacted by a man who had lost his wedding ring throwing a football at in a lake in a local state park. We agreed to meet at the lake so he could show me exactly where he lost it and also so we could get permission from the park staff to metal detect — it’s normally prohibited in state parks. (The one exception is to recover a lost item; in that case, the park management will usually allow someone to bring in a detector to recover something lost.)

We met, spoke to the park staff (who were great), he showed me the spot, and we made arrangements to meet back the following morning to search. This particular lake is anything but clear, so you’re essentially relying on the machine to tell you where the target is and then bring up sand from the bottom a scoop at a time until you find it. It took about an hour, but after 3 quarters, two dimes, a penny, a silver locket, and a different wedding band, I was able to pull up his ring.

His very pregnant wife was waiting patiently (anxious, but trying to be patient) on the beach while we searched, and was overjoyed when I was able to bring it up to the surface. I know she was glad that he had the ring back, but it was also very important to her that he would have his ring in time for the upcoming delivery. I was glad to have been able to help make that happen!

Lost Gold Earring In The Grass Found In Harrison Township Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Mom’s Gift!

The pictured lady was in a real jam last night when she got home. Getting out of the car she flipped her workbag over from one shoulder to the other, knocking her gold earring off. The earrings were a gift from her mom and custom made while they were on an overseas vacation…. virtually irreplaceable. She realized it was missing as she was taking them off before bed. Frantically searching the vehicle in the dark revealed nothing. I chatted with her this morning and it sounded very strongly that the earring went into the grass. When I got there I took a read off the matching one and got a real low number on the MXT and orienting the ring to replicate how it may be sitting in the grass gave me different numbers. So I memorized them and started a grid search. In just a few minutes I got a similar read and pinpointed the signal with my Garrett carrot. Feeling around thru the thick grass and yard lettuce revealed the golden matching earring that meant the world to her! Now they will shine together again, sweet flowers of love….Mom’s Gift!

Belleair Beach Lost Ring Recovered by SRARC

Lola was playing with her sister on the sandbar behind her family’s beach home when she felt the ring slip off her finger. This ring had been given to her by her grandmother, who had brought it over from Poland.  Lola found Ringfinders online and contacted Joe Szemer to schedule a hunt. Two hours later, Bill Gallant and Mike Shuler met with Lola and her mother at their home and began to search for the lost heirloom. 42 minutes later (Lola’s mother was timing us), Bill had the ring in his scoop. He walked it back to the shore, where he was greeted with cheers and hugs!

TheRingFinders Metal Detector Service helped find a lost Diamond ring buried in the Ocean.: OPEN NOW CALL 760 889 2751

I recently received a text message regarding a diamond wedding ring that was lost in waist deep water near Oceanside pier the previous night before. We arranged a time to meet later in the day although the tides were not in our favor.

I arrived promptly and met the husband Jose. He had a good estimated place where it was lost at. Unfortunately the tide was much higher and in addition “waist deep the night before was basically chin deep at this point” I gave it all I had for an hour to no avail. The big waves & shorebreak were preventing me to perform a thorough search, so I called it quits but promised I would come back first thing in the morning during a more feasible low tide.

Upon arriving to the scene of the lost ring day#2 it was relieving to see the tide was much further out and the ring should barely be knee deep in the water now…30min later I got a strong signal in 2’ under the water with my Metal Detector and scooped out her precious Platinum diamond ring buried in the ocean!

Jose and Holly were extremely thrilled I was able to help them.Sending a Picture of a lost ring to the owner in the early morning is always exciting. However,,Had they contacted me days or weeks later this scenario may not of played out the same because the Ocean works mysterious ways.

Lost Diamond Earring Found! – Waukesha, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

Allie Gruenwald of Waukesha, Wisconsin, was mowing a patch of waist-high weeds behind their country home when a low-hanging tree branch caught her diamond earring stud, flinging it into the thick tangle. The earrings were a gift from her husband, Chris. Now one of them was gone.

I received a phone call from Chris on July 5th asking if I might search for the lost earring. The prospects of detecting such a tiny piece of jewelry in such circumstances is like trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack! From my 40 plus years’ experience as a metal detecting specialist, I knew it would be a challenge even with some of the most sophisticated metal detecting technology at my disposal.

Upon arrival at the Gruenwald’s home, I experimented with the matching earring to get a reading on my equipment. Even in clean ground without any electro-magnetic interference, the response was barely audible. I calibrated my machine and set to work. It was almost completely dark when I picked up a very faint signal in my headphones. Upon investigating, the small gold retainer appeared about an inch and a half down in the mud; the earring could not be far away. I marked off the area and left instructions to cut the vegetation off level to the ground using scissors or pruning shears. I would return and scan the area again with the coil right on the ground. Having located the retainer, I was confident the diamond stud was close by.

Sure enough, I received a text message from Chris the next day with the happy news that the earing had come to light as expected!

Allie, may the story of your earrings continue for many years to come!

Lost Wedding Ring Found!- Triangle Park, Wauwatosa, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

New Berlin resident, Emily Griskavich, enjoyed a picnic at Triangle Park with her children on July 7th but later that evening discovered that her wedding band was missing. Returning to the park she scoured the grassy area and sidewalk areas without success. Had someone already found it? The possibility was troubling.

I received a phone call from Emily asking if I might help search for her ring. We agreed to meet on location after work on July 11. Once at the location, Emily took me to the picnic area and retraced her route along the sidewalk. It seemed a long shot because Emily was not entirely certain the ring was lost at the park. I explained how I could eliminate search areas by ruling them out and which might help narrow her search to other locations. That is unless someone had already found it.

My detector of choice for the search was an XP Deus with a high frequency elliptical coil. It is extremely sensitive to gold targets. I started scanning the grassy picnic area where Emily had spent the most time playing with her children, treating it as ‘ground zero’ in my search efforts. Barely twenty minutes into the search, my Emily’s ring appeared deep in the grass! She was flabbergasted at the sight of her precious love token!

Thanks, Emily, for the privilege of searching for and finding your ring. May its story continue for many more happy years!

Lost Engagement Ring Found! – Lake Winnebago, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

Barely one month engaged, the unthinkable happened to Belgium, Wisconsin resident, Shannon Cooper. She was celebrating the 4th of July with her fiancé’s family on Lake Winnebago near Oshkosh. That’s when Shannon’s diamond engagement ring slipped off her finger and vanished into the lake’s murky depths. It was an emotionally shattering experience which left her feeling sick to her stomach. After a sleepless night, Shannon reached out to me through The Ring Finders directory of metal detecting specialists.

A couple days later, on July 6th my wife joined me for the ninety-minute drive and kept Shannon company for over seven hours while I swept the lake’s bottom with my Minelab Excalibur Detector. Unfortunately, the winds, waves and rains kept moving my buoys, making the grid search almost impossible. We would need to resume the search another time. Tears were visible in Shannon’s eyes when we parted. It was plain to see her heart was breaking. I encouraged her not to give up hope.

The next Saturday I arrived just as the sun peaked over the horizon. The water was like glass. Using photos taken from the boat 10 days before, I was able to triangulate off various shoreline structures and drop a buoy where the boat had been anchored. A grid search ensued from this point. Two and half hours later, Shannon’s beautiful ring lay gleaming in my sieve!

Matthew, Shannon’s fiancé, arrived not long after. He was prepared to spend the day searching with me. I outlined a search strategy, not letting on the ring was in my possession as I did so. I love being creative with the reveal! When I finally produced the love token, Matthew responded by throwing his arms around me. A text and phone call to Shannon conveyed the happy news!

I received a heartwarming note from Shannon a few days later. She wrote,

“Thank you for all the kindness you have shown to me and Matt in dedicating so much time and energy in finding my ring! While it wasn’t a pleasant trial, we got to see so many blessings through it, including the privilege of meeting you both… Thank you Paul for being relentless in your search.”

Lost Cell Phone in Myrtle Beach, SC – Found and Returned

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

George called me from his wife’s phone saying he had lost his phone and wanted to know if I could help find it. When he gave me the hotel name, I was pretty sure he was in Myrtle Beach, which he confirmed. That’s Matt Fry’s area, so I told George that I’d call Matt and one of us would call him back within 10 minutes. I didn’t have any luck getting a hold of Matt, so I called George back and told him I’d be there in about 30 minutes.

When I arrived at the beach, it was pretty crowded. I called George to let him know I was there and he said he’d be right down from the hotel. When he arrived on the beach he pointed out the area, which at the time, was being occupied by two young ladies. As I started walking over to them to ask them if they’d mind moving, they started packing up to leave, so no problems.

I started doing an east/west grid line, and on the third leg I got a 31-32 on the Equinox 800 so I knew I had he’s phone. Surprisingly, the phone was deeper than it should have been after less than 2 hours of being in the sand. I very carefully used my scoop to get the phone out of the sand, saw it lying in the hole, and reached down and pulled it out. George was in a little bit of shock, but very happy he had his phone back.

George, thanks for contacting me to help find your phone. Have a great rest of your vacation and a safe trip home.
