Diamond engagement ring found in Port Hope Ontario

I was contacted by Lisa last week due to having lost her diamond engagement ring at a beach near Port hope. She had actually placed four rings in her jean pocket and then into her beach bag. When it was time to leave, the kids had emptied the bag and Lisa flung her jean shorts over her shoulder, sending the rings flying onto the sandy beach. After searching for a while, a gentleman and his young daughter came over and asked what they were looking for. Lisa told them what had happened and then the little girl showed her a gold ring she had found earlier. It was one of the four missing rings. Remembering where she had found it, they were able to find two more rings in the sand. Unable to locate the fourth ring, her engagement ring, this is when she found me online to go and help. I met up with Lisa’s mom the very next morning at the beach to discover that the town’s beach combing machine had been through the whole beach overnight. Luckily, I was able to find her ring in less then five minutes for her. Another happy ending!!!

Last evening, I got a frantic call from friends of Karina and Drew, camping at Carpinteria State Beach. Karina had lost her three wedding rings in the sand, and despite hours of digging—even using a store-bought metal detector—the group came up empty. A quick Google search for “lost ring recovery” led them to Dave MacDonald Ringfinder, and I promised fast help for Santa Claus Beach, Rincon Beach Park, and beyond.
Arriving at Carpinteria State Beach, I met a crowd of worried family members eager for results. I started gridding the area where the rings were last seen, a technique I’ve perfected from Summerland Beach to East Beach Santa Barbara. When the initial search turned up nothing, I suspected the rings had shifted—maybe toward the waterline, as I’ve seen at Loon Point Beach. Expanding my scan near La Conchita Beach-like tides, my metal detector soon pinged. One by one, all three rings emerged from the sand in just three minutes—a thrilling win!

IPhone 7 Lost for Two Weeks – Found and Returned Holden Beach NC

This started out as a ring search for a young lady’s engagement ring that wasn’t found. As I’m doing my grid search back and forth across the wet sand, I got a loud signal. Not sure what it was but I knew it wasn’t the ring. Because of the size of the target, I thought I either had a pair of sunglasses or a cell phone. After digging the target out from under about 8 inches of wet sand, sure enough I had an IPhone and not in real good shape. I put in it my pouch and continued searching for the ring.

I had actually forgotten about the phone, and it set in my pouch in the trunk of my car for a day. Maybe that turned out to be a good thing and gave it a chance to dry out in 90 plus degree temperatures. I couldn’t get the phone to turn on, so I wasn’t sure if the phone battery was dead or the phone itself was ruined. I found one of my plugs that fit and plugged it in to see if it’d charge. After a couple of hours, the phone was coming to life. After there was enough charge, I started playing with it. Luckily, I got to the password page and saw the “emergency” Icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen and pushed it. Up popped a name and other info – Chance XXXX, age 15. Ok, I had something to go on. I first went through a FB search and found a number of Chances and sent each of them a private message. Long shot, but maybe they got a new phone and would get the message. The next thing I did was post on the Holden Beach FB page with a picture of the phone’s main page. I also wrote “Chance XXXX or parents of, I came across your iPhone buried in about 8” of wet sand. Cleaned and charged it and it appears to be working. Wanted to see if I could find you on here before I turn it over to the Holden Beach Police. Call or text and included my phone number.” Within two hours I saw where a lady had tagged a Lena with the same last name as the boy. Shortly after that I got a response on FB saying – “Thank you so much. My son thought it was lost forever.”  I also got a text from Lena (Chance’s mother) who 100% verified the phone was her son’s. She told me the story that Chance was out on the beach looking for shark’s teeth and at some point, the phone fell out of his pocket. She also said that they were on Holden Beach during the week of June 20th. I found the phone on July 8th, so the phone was buried in the sand for roughly 2 weeks. I put the phone in the mail on Monday, Jul 11th and because of the lithium battery it had to go ground delivery through the USPS. It took 2 weeks for the phone to finally get home to Ohio. I don’t know if Chance found any shark’s teeth or not, but my wife has quite the collection and sent along 3 shark’s teeth and an olive shell to brighten things up for Chance.

Chance – glad I could get your phone back to you; sorry it may have ruined your chances of getting a new phone for Christmas. Take care young man!!

Lost Gold Bracelet, Pensacola Beach- FOUND!!!

I was out on the beach yesterday evening when a young man about my son’s age walked up and asked if I could help him. I asked what he needed and looked over and saw his family staring hopefully a few yards away. I said that I’d be glad to help and he explained that he had dropped his 14k gold bracelet as they were packing up to leave and it disappeared into the sand. I could still see the hole where their umbrella had been planted so I began to search around it. I got a little worried because I immediately started finding old bottle caps from a previous group and I thought it might take awhile. I made another pass from a different angle as I could start to see the worry on their faces but sure enough I got a clean gold tone and number. I took extra care with the scoop to make sure I didn’t scratch it and out popped Manuel’s bracelet. 😃  They were thrilled as you can see from the smile on his face. Congrats Manuel!!!

Got a call from Ashley yesterday (Saturday) about her husbands lost ring. She explained how Jeff was throwing a football around the tide line when the ring flew off his hand and dropped into the wet sand. After talking a bit, we decided low tide was so late we would wait till the AM low tide to do the recovery, the surf was fairly calm, so it wouldn’t move to much. Jeff did an outstanding job marking the exact location of the ring, which is paramount when doing recoveries. A few swings later the ring was in the scoop.

I received a text from Ryan that he had lost a gold ring while working on a vehicle in his front yard about a month ago. It took a little coordination because it was a good distance away, but we made arrangements and within a few days I was there and ready to go. It took me between and hour and an hour and a half, but in the tall grass on the way to the mailbox I found it! Ryan was very grateful and happy to have the ring back. Like all the jewelry we find it had its own special story and I was happy to be able to help.

Lost Engagement Ring Underwater, Found, Cape Cod, Sea Shore, Returned

Rick and I were metal detecting at a local saltwater beach area this morning. As we were almost done, and not much to show for it, we decided to get a quick lunch break in. That never happened, a guy stopped Rick in the water, and said that his friend Katelyn, had just lost her engagement ring. Katelyn’s Engagement Ring was lost only a half hour before, underwater. She was throwing a football with friends. Rick motioned to me, and we began to grid the area. Katelyn was getting nervous, and having second thoughts that she may never see it again. I assured her that we would prevail and to not give up till she sees us give up. I asked her to stay in that area, and to not walk away, so I could do my job with precision. Her Husband, and about five others were trying to locate it with snorkel and masks, but turned up nothing. I started to move over to broaden the search area. As Rick and I crossed paths, he saw me stop and start to dig, he asked me if I had it? I honestly wasn’t sure, it was a scratchy sound but on the third try sure enough it was in my scoop. When I motioned to Katelyn to come over to have a look. I asked her to describe it again. She was so excited that I had it. I told her she was a lucky girl today. Everyone around us were cheering and clapping. Even her friends up on the beach were yelling, I actually felt like a celebrity LOL Its such a fantastic feeling to return it to the owner. Another great day at the beach. Congratulations Katelyn ! Leighton.

Lost White Gold Engagement Ring in Deer Lake….Found!!!

Swimming around, splashing and having fun Christina was enjoying  a summer time swim in Deer Lake. As the family dog inched closer to the edge of the dock, Christina started splashing at the dog to entice the dog to jump in. Watching the water droplets fly into the air Christina saw her engagement ring fly off of her finger and quickly sink into the deep dark water below. Panicking, Christina screamed for help. Her fiance Braeden heard her cries and ran out quickly to find out the cause. Dismayed by the news of the lost ring Braeden, Christina and  the friends and family that were there started to brainstorm on how to recover the ring. The water was 20ish feet deep, so they thought they might be able to drop a magnet down to retrieve the ring. After testing the magnet out on other rings that were present they found out gold is not magnetic. Braeden then knew what he had to do, ask Google a question. How to find a ring in a lake. BAM…The Ring Finders website showed up with the answer. Call Luke Schlining the Ring Finder 509 263-8995 the story read. I was just walking back to my car after celebrating a birthday party for some neighbor kids when I got a call. “Can you you find a ring in a lake”? Braeden asked. My answer was a resounding yes and we discussed the details of the search. I got all my gear ready and headed out to Deer Lake. After diving down to 20 feet I could see and fill a that i was in a thermocline . The water was an ice cold 32 degree  and viscis  . The visibility was ok until the silt got stirred up. Oh yeah and my waterproof metal detector started to flood with water. I however, didn’t find this out until I arrived home. I knew for a fact that my metal detector was the reason I didn’t find the ring. I did tell Christina and Braeden I would fill my tanks and be back the next weekend. So here we are the next weekend. I found myself suiting up to go diving again at Deer Lake. Christina and Braeden were there anxiously waiting. I had another waterproof metal detector with me this time a vibratector. So I knew I would be getting a lot of signals. After about a dozen nails later I transitioned to the left of my buoy and there in the silt was Christina’s ring. The amazement of seeing her ring was overwhelming.  I worked really hard to find that ring so it felt great to have it in my hand. I surfaced with the ring and told the couple man its clear down there, so clear I found your ring. Braeden had a huge smile on his face as I handed him the ring.  As I exited the water and packed up my gear, I got to talk to Braeden and Christina about their engagement and proposal. They both were very happy with lots of praise and thank you’s. I had a blast finding this ring thank you guys for trusting in the Ring Finders.

Lost – Women’s White Gold, Diamond Wedding Band, OBX, NC, FOUND!!

On Friday I got a call from Diamond, who said she was very frustrated.  She had lost her wedding ring on the beach and had no peace.

She continued that she had gone to a local hardware store and rented a metal detector.  I explained to her that many metal detectors do not do well on the beach because they do not account for mineralization which cause the detector to beep at everything.  She responded, yes, that’s what it was doing.

I assured her that I was only about 15 minutes away and if the ring is not in the water, there is a very good chance that we could find it. I arrived at the access point and called Diamond.

I went down to their canopy and met Diamond and Darwin, her husband.  He helped me to remove some of the metal items from the search area.  I fired up the Deus 2 and began the search in the area she thought she had lost it.  I got an immediate hit but it was too deep and not the expected number.

Continuing to the center of the canopy, I got a solid 50.  I knew it was the ring.  Digging around in the sand with my hand and my pin pointer, I saw diamonds glitter in the sunshine.

I handed the ring to Diamond.  Peace regained…frustration, gone!   She was exuberant!  Hugs!

13 Lucky Number for Kenyon … Lost,Found,Recovered,Returned In Salt Water…

13 is Kenyon’s lucky number today.

I was on my way off the beach the other day from recovering a ring for a gentleman, I noticed a Lost Wedding Band sign posted. I gave it a quick call to a man named Kenyon. I told him who I was and what I do. He told me he had lost it a week ago while doing butterfly strokes in the water. That it hadn’t been off of his finger in 13 years. I had him send me a picture of the area, and drop a pin where I should search if I could get down to have a look for him. I tried to go a few days in a row, but because of the wind and high waves I wasn’t able to get in the water till this morning.

I searched for over an hour with no luck in the area he was sure it was, to no avail. As I was running out of real estate, with only one target that was a small bullet. I was about to call it quits. I was going to have Kenyan meet me tomorrow and put me in the area again. I was walking out of knee deep water when I got a signal so loud it scared me. I knew it had to be the ring because there were no other targets in the area. Sure enough, there it was a size 13.5  14K White wedding band looking up at me in the scoop. I am so happy to get this back to him as Kenyon and his wife are going away tomorrow on vacation. Keep the faith.
