Prepper Father-n- Law Dies leaving hundreds of Buried Silver Coins

We got a call early this morning from a gentleman who said that his father-in-law passed away recently.  His father-in-law was a serious Prepper, he was heavily fortified and heavily stocked in every area of life.  He said 6 or 7 years ago he had shown he and his wife a Google Earth photo showing where he had buried Multiple Boxes of 500 coins each and many packages of 100 silver coins in plastic ammo containers.

He and his family had spent 8-10 hours digging in the known places and discovered many boxes of silver everything from 6 inches to 36 inches in depth.  They were exhausted and needed help.  They rented a metal detector but it did not work well for them so they went searching and found the Dallas Ring Finders.

Ellen and I drove out as soon as we got the call. It was 161 miles one way to reach the location.  We reached the home, met the family and were shown around the property and shown the 4 potential locations of the Silver coins.  Just want to say it was 103 degrees today.  We went to work with our Garrett ATPro metal detectors and Pinpointers.

The ground was really just pure sand, very easy to dig.  We were able to scan the boxes of Silver that they had found the day before to get our search signals and searched for 3 hours, digging dozens of holes.  The challenge was there was so much metal debris all over the search areas…   (NOTE:  history tells us that people who buried things sometimes scatter scrap metal all over their buried items to discourage metal detectorists from digging).

I am not going to disclose what we found but we may be returning for further digging and possibly bring a small backhoe to take off the top 2-3 feet of soil to make it a little easier to detect.

Suggestion, if you or someone in your family buries things on their property, please, please, please make a map or show someone where your items are so that everything can be recovered when you’re gone.

Awesome day helping a family who was completely overwhelmed.

Ryan placed his wedding band in a beach bag for safekeeping while on the beach in Avalon, NJ. When he went to look for it, he found a hole in the bag instead. He reached out to me the day after it was lost and I met him in the area to start the search. After a quick grid search of the sand with the metal detector, it was found!

Lost White Gold Wedding Band Found In The Poconos.

Jason contacted me be text and asked if I could search for his lost wedding band. While throwing ball with his dog, he felt the ring fly off his finger and thought he heard it land in an area of thick ferns and leaves along a wooded area. I arrived a few days after he contacted me and he showed me the area he thought it may have landed. He tried searching with an old metal detector a frailly member had and he also began pulling out the ferns. I started my search and got a nice strong signal after searching for only 5 to 10 min. I found the ring under some leaves and grass in the area he pulled out the ferns. He was so happy I found it and began telling me how he had it customed engraved by a gunsmith who does high-end engraving.

Lost Ring on 4th of July! – FOUND!!!

Imagine that you are getting married in two weeks. Imagine that your fiancé proposed to you with a beautiful diamond ring. Now imagine that you have come down to Fort Walton Beach to celebrate with friends before the wedding and you dropped the ring in the Gulf of Mexico. That is definitely a problem! 😳. To make matters worse, this is no ordinary ring and as Hillary and her friends explained it to me, I knew I had to help. This ring had an amazing story because the main diamond actually came from the Grandmother of Hillary’s fiancé. It had been with their family when they fled Germany all the way back before the Holocaust. They had come over and became part of a small German settlement in Mississippi called Gluckstadt. To build a life and pass down your ring to your Grandchildren so they could start a new life with their loved one is a true American dream. Was I going to let this American story end today??? On the 4th of July???  Not if I could help it!  Hillary and I came up with a plan and I agreed to meet her at sunrise to get past the Holiday traffic and all of the people in the gulf. When I got there I saw that the waves were pretty big and they were crashing into the sand right where Hillary felt like she lost the ring. I headed out and immediately got knocked back so hard that I took the sunglasses around my neck back to the beach. I came back out and made it a little way before I again got slammed and my headphones went flying off of my head. As I chased the ear cups I walked back to the beach. Hillary had gone back to the room so I asked her two friends how tall Hillary is. They said she is 5’2”, I smiled and said “guys, I’m almost 6’3” and I weigh 220lbs, there’s no way she could have been walking around out there if the waves were similar in the days before.” They quickly said that Hillary was nervous I might miss it and was erring on the safe side. They both felt like she had lost it closer in. I explained that I would start shallow and move out but I promised I would go as far as needed to find it. I took a few passes as people started to come out to the beach and I got to the area where they had pointed. I got a high tone and battled to scoop it in the surf. I dig every signal on a return so unfortunately this turned out to be a dime but I only went about five feet further when I heard the tone I wanted. Again it was a battle but I was able to gingerly lift the scoop and let the water and sand rush out of it. Staring back at me was a beautiful diamond ring and I was absolutely thrilled. I started walking in with a big smile on my face and they gradually realized that I had it. Hillary was in disbelief until she got it back on her finger and even then she still couldn’t quite believe I had found it. I am so glad that I could help keep this amazing American story going and even add a new chapter that their family will remember. Congratulations Hillary and Happy Independence Day everyone.

Yesterday late afternoon I received a call for help from a young man who had lost his wedding band at Spanish Banks Beach in Vancouver. He sounded very upset and really really wanted me to get out there as soon as possible to help find it. I understand what these items mean to people so I jumped in my car rescheduled another search and headed to Spanish Banks.

After asking all my typical questions it sounded like it could be a relatively quick search, I’ve been fooled many times by thinking that. When I arrived I met Chris who showed me a very small area where he believe the ring had fallen, a gathering up my gear and within a minute found his beautiful ring.

It’s amazing how fast the sand can eat up a persons ring and make it near impossible to find a good medley text her and someone who knows how to use it.

This definitely made up for the last three outings where I spent over 14 hours looking for a platinum ring at Kits Beach with no luck. Unfortunately it was lost in the soft sand, but I gave it a good effort.

 

 

 

 

I was so relieved for this young man to see the ring in my scoop so quickly, sometimes it happens like that and I will take it when I get it. It was great to meet Chris and his wonderful family and to see that smile back where it belongs.

Wedding band lost Minnesota Lake scuba metal detecting found

Anna & her husband were spending some time up at a friend’s cabin in Minnesota. While playing football in the water, her husband’s white gold wedding band was knocked off and lost in the lake. After searching the area as best as they could, they had given up hope of ever finding it. A couple years later they were talking with friends about the incident, one of their friends suggested theringfinders.com – So Anna checked online and gave me a call. The water level was about 3 – 4 feet where he lost it. I figured a shallow water scuba dive would give me the best chance at retrieval. We met up at the cabin and after many shot-gun shells & pull tabs, I found the ring about 5 feet from the dock in approx. 4 feet of water. Congrats on the ring!!!!!

Wedding Ring Lost in Whangarei Harbour 5 Months ago – Found!

Caroline sent me a message a couple of days ago explaining her husband had lost his gold and platinum wedding ring while swimming off Waikaraka Beach in Whangarei, would I be able to assist?
The catch was, he lost it five months ago and it could have been anywhere within a couple of acres of rocky shore, or possibly further out in the harbour silts.
The big plus was, being an inner harbour beach, there would have been no significant wave action and subsequent shifting of sediments that would occur on the ocean coast.
The negative being that being so shallow, there was a good chance it had landed somewhere that dried at low tide and it had been picked up while it lay on the surface.
I duly arrived just after noon on Saturday and followed the falling tide down, extending the search out into the harbour to the point where the mud started getting deep.
After five hours, with the tide rapidly reclaiming the beach and night falling, I reluctantly called it quits.
I sent a message to Caroline advising I had unfortunately been unsuccessful, and started the long drive home.
That night, I couldn’t get one specific area out of my mind – I hadn’t been as thorough as usual in this region due to excessive oysters and the fact I was wearing neoprene boots.
This mental splinter hassled me to the point where, at 2am, I got back in the car and drove the 100km back to Whangarei for the 4am low.
There was no moon, but sufficient glow from the city lights to work. A cold 3°C morning without a breath of wind made for a surreal experience, wading through the glassy shallows (in heavy duty boots this time) under a cloudless southern hemisphere Milky Way.
It took about an hour and a half to search the area, but sure enough, next to a collection of submerged rocks lay Hughs ring.
Stained from its time in the mud, I gave it a polish after I had wandered back to the car and dried off.
Once warmed up and with some sleep, I messaged Caroline the good news at a more civilised hour.
She was down there in a shot!
Hugh was working elsewhere on their property at the time, but Caroline was going to put it next to his breakfast plate for when he returned 🙂

Lake Christine/Los Colinas, TX ~ Lost Phone in Lake

Sometimes when you’re strolling along a water’s path, holding your phone and decide you need a drink from your water bottle being held in your other hand, attempting to remove the twist cap can be a little more challenging than imaginable.  That’s exactly what happened to Stephen yesterday. Getting in the water 5ft deep to search with a metal detector and scoop proved to be unreliable since the depth increased the further he tried to walk out. So Don suited up in his diver’s suit and tank to scan the bottom up to 15 ft deep.  After a couple of passes it was found in the far corner of the water.

PS… I do have to say it was really a strange feeling Scuba Diving in Lake Christine which is in the middle of 30 story tall buildings… I know we had many eyes watching us as we located this Iphone.

Lost Ring Found in Wakefield RI.

On June 5, I received a call from Sarah, requesting help to find a ring she had lost in her yard. When I arrived, she explained that the ring was her father’s ring and that he passed away recently.  She had his ring on her thumb and was doing some yard work.  When she noticed that the ring was missing, she called a friend, who I had helped to find a ring a couple of years ago.  The friend recommended that Sarah call me. I searched her yard and was concerned, because it was getting dark.  After 45 minutes of searching, I located the ring.  She was so happy to have her father’s ring back, and I was excited to be able to reunite her with this precious item.

Late Monday evening, I received a distressing text from Kaitlyn, seeking assistance in locating a lost promise ring submerged in the surf and wet sand at Oxnard Beach. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, I agreed to undertake the recovery operation early Tuesday morning, capitalizing on the favorable low tide conditions. Flavio, unaware of the successful retrieval, was pleasantly surprised when I presented him with the recovered ring.
