July 5th, 2020, Annapolis Landing Marina.

Nick was helping passengers disembark from a tour boat onto the dock when a child fell into the water. He immediately provided assistance, pulling the boy from the water. After the adrenaline subsided from the rescue, Nick realized his beautiful diamond wedding ring was missing. He had another diver look for the ring for several hours that night, but the diver was unable to find it.

Nick called me the next morning and we were able to search that afternoon. Even though Nick was up most of the night with the other diver, he was alert and very detailed in his description of the incident. After meeting and getting the marina manager’s support for my search from Ralph, I prepared for the search. The marina staff and the boat owners we met were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The marina certainly lives up to its slogan as the “finest and friendliest marina in Annapolis”.

The water along the dock is brackish tidal. That day it was twelve feet deep and I could not see a thing. I used a circular search pattern and slowly combed the area. With the noise of all the holiday weekend boats in the water and zero visibility, it was disorienting. I was glad to be tethered to my divemaster (Mrs.E) on the surface. There was the usual trash to be expected around any dock. After about 45 minutes, I heard a target and could feel the shape of the ring. We were so happy to return the ring to Nick!

I am a detectorist with over 35 years’ experience in detecting on both dry land and under water. As a skilled underwater search and recovery specialist, I am often called to search after inexperienced divers attempted to recover the lost object. Underwater searches require unique techniques and equipment. At a minimum, an underwater detectorist should hold Advanced Diver or Master SCUBA Diver certifications. I also recommend they be certified in Underwater Metal Detecting, and Search & Recovery. As a Master SCUBA Instructor, I designed and taught the first specialty certification course for underwater metal detecting. I have professional certifications to teach SCUBA divers in 4 internationally recognized certification agencies and thousands of hours of underwater experience. When you call me, we will discuss the specifics of your situation. If I do not think there is a good chance of finding your lost item, I will not accept your case. (703)-598-1435

Engagement Ring Lost in the Ocean North Myrtle Beach – Found and Returned

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

Jai called me about 7 p.m. on Thursday, 9 Jul, asking if I could help find a 22k Engagement ring that his fiancé, Sim had lost in the ocean. He said she lost it about 3:30 that afternoon. Looking at the tide table, she lost it 2 hours before low tide at 5:21 p.m. so searching for it now would be pointless. I did want to see what I was up against so I told Jai I’d be right over to scope things out.

When I got to the beach I met Jai and Sim, who were set up at the same spot they were when she lost the ring. Sim told me that her and her sister in law had been riding a float in the surf when a big wave hit them, knocking them off the float. She continued to tell me that when she finally got her balance she was about waist deep, which means she was still a ways out in the water. She remembered being pretty much straight out from where they were set up. Jai wasn’t on the beach at the time, but his brother in law was. I asked him what he remembered, and he stated Sim and his wife were about 50 yards further south. I thought I had all the information I needed, so I told Jai and Sim I’d be back the next morning at 5 a.m. to work the outgoing tide.

The next morning the conditions weren’t good, the wind was blowing from the east and the swells were at least 5 feet, and both were coming straight in to the beach. After about an hour and a half, getting beat up, and busting the shaft on my detector, I told Jai and Sim I’d be back that evening for the low tide and bring a friend. I called Matt Fry, TRF Myrtle beach, and he had his own search. So I called Jim Brouwer, and he jumped at the chance to help. When Jim and I showed up that afternoon, the conditions had gone from bad to worse. Big swells made the search almost impossible. If we did pick up a signal, the swells would knock us off it. Jim and I struggled for about an hour, during which time I had the chance to talk with Sim’s sister in law. She informed me that she thought they were even further south than her husband had thought. This search was starting to look very bleak for finding Sim’s engagement ring. I told Jai and Sim we were calling it a day, but I’d be back out during the week. Their expressions said it all.

I wasn’t able to search the next day, but looking at the Sunday morning tide, wind, and swell information, conditions looked good enough to give it another shot. I had decided I’d start a perpendicular grid search a little further south than Jai’s sister suggested and work north to where Sim thought she was. When I walked out on the beach, the swell information was higher than predicted, but I started the grid doing the best I could. On my 4th line, I got a solid 13/14, which is usually a pull tab, but could be a small gold ring, too. In this case it was a pull tab. I took a few more steps and got another 13/14, I dug the target, and looking for the pull tab in the scoop I see the glimmer of gold. BAM, I had Sim’s ring. I sent Jai and Sim a text at 6:27 a.m. saying “Good Morning you two!!! I just wanted to let know I came back out this morning to look for your ring and…..” Then I sent another text saying “Bingo” with 2 pictures, one of me holding the ring and another of the ring resting on a shell. At 10:05 a.m. I got a response from Jai and a phone call; I don’t think he could have been any happier. A little later Sim called me; she was so excited and grateful. She told me that she had given up hope of getting her ring back. So happy I could restore her hope!

Jai and Sim – Thank you for letting me help find your lost treasure.

Jim

Ring Lost On Shell Key, Recovered By SRARC

Marisol & Abdiel came from Kissimmee to enjoy the Gulf Coast for a few days. They joined a few friends on Shell Key to celebrate a birthday and while getting ready to swim Marisol was pulling her shirt off over her head when her new wedding ring flew off and disappeared in the sand. She had received the ring just 27 days earlier in celebration of her Three year anniversary. Luckily, Abdiel saw where the ring flew so they searched in the sand until they had to leave but had no luck. Thinking ahead, Abdiel marked the spot before they left with a stick. Later that evening He googled for lost rings and found SRARC. Joe Szemer made arrangements for Mike Miller to meet them the next morning. Due to the good planning by Abdiel, It took only a couple of minutes for Mike to find and return the ring. The smiles on their faces show the joy they felt to have their precious ring returned. It was SRARC’s pleasure to have been able to help them recover this special ring.

Lost wedding ring Lake Ontario Park Kingston Ontario

Received an email from Andre yesterday, inquiring about me coming out to look for his lost wedding ring. Andre and his wife were at a rocky shoreline, at Lake Ontario Park in Kingston, where he went for a swim and lost his Wedding band in about waist deep water. Headed to meet him to see if we could find it for him.

Having looked at the forecast previously, and Mother Nature being on our side with keeping the winds fairly calm, I was able to get in the water and start looking for the ring. Conditions were challenging as the bottom was covered with large boulders, rocks and waves tossing me around back and forth. However, after 45 minutes of perseverance, was able to reunite Andre with his wedding ring. Really glad I could find it for him and especially since his second wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks. Life is good.

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Mr. Lee and his family decided to go swimming at Wasaga Beach #1 on his 25th wedding anniversary!

The waters were getting rough mid-afternoon. He felt his ring pop off his finger and he tried to find it!

I received a call shortly after and headed up after work meeting Mr Lee and his Family! I started my grid search pattern with Mr. Lee in the water beside me and had no luck. The waters were calming down but there was still a little bit of an undertow. I had no luck after searching for 4 to 5 hours and decided to go back early Saturday morning! I continued again starting to grid search To the East of the previous days attempt!

Once I got back to the area where Mr. Lee felt his ring come off, I decided because of the undertow to search 10 to 50 feet behind where the area.

i had a solid crisp signal on the Equinox 800 with an “11” VDI reading! There was Mr’ Lee’s wedding band in my scoop!!!

Keys found after falling in Lake Leelanau, Mi

I saw a post on a local Facebook forum asking if anybody had a waterproof metal detector. I answered and got a response from Marcy that her husband lost his keys in 3 feet of water. They had tried to use a rake to get the keys but had no luck. They keys were lost over the side of a dock with muck about 12 inches deep. I drove up to the location and got in the water and immediately got stuck in the thick muck. It was very difficult to move and turn around. I ended up getting a faint signal I told Marcy was not the keys but dug it anyways. It was a piece of aluminum about 10 inches long. Searched a couple more minutes and got a stronger signal. I told Marcy this signal should be the keys. I was trying to dig the signal out with my T-Rex scoop and having issues because the muck was so thick and deep. Just then a neighbor walked past and offered the use of her large magnet on a rope. I ended up trying to drop the magnet hard into the muck to get it deeper. After about 5 tries the keys came out. I will be adding a large magnet on a rope to my equipment I take on jobs from now on. Now Marcy and her husband can get there vacation started.

Gold Chain with charms recovered in Ocean Grove by Dennis Burlingame

I got home around 2:45 am from detecting and was checking my email before going to bed and up came a new one from Corey. During the day at the beach he got knocked over but a wave and felt his necklace slide over his head into the ocean. He tried grabbing for it but with no luck, even searched during the day at low tide hoping he’d see it. The chain had a very special charm on it that was his grandfathers, being upset about loosing it he was up late searching google with hopes of finding some answer to finding it. There he found me on RingFinders. Still being up I called him and got the information about what happened and was going to meet him later in the morning. I called a fellow Ringfinder to tell him about it and he said I should go now with the water still low enough to work. I called Corey back and asked if he’d meet me now and he said yes.  Luckily he left a shirt on the beach as a marker in the area he was in and it narrowed the search area down. About 20 minutes or so in waist deep water getting pushed by waves I got a good signal, took me a bit to dig it,the waves would push me off of it but I finally saw his necklace in my scoop. I was kinda mean because I held it in my hand and started out of the water after I got hit by a wave shaking my head saying the waves were to rough but when I got to him I said not rough enough to find it and held it out to him. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He had his grandfathers charm and chain back. Sorry bout the dark pictures but it was 4 o’clock in the morning. Glad to give back, felt great.

Lost Diamond Ring Aquia Landing, Virginia…found!

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Rob Ellis: Ring Recovery Specialist Underwater and on land …Lost Ring?… Call or text 703-598-1435.

On Saturday, Esmeralda and Rey were playing with friends in the water. When Esmeralda reached to catch a ball, her beautiful 10th anniversary diamond ring flew off her finger. They searched for hours to no avail. The next morning, Esmeralda emailed me for help.

Metal detecting for artifacts in the area is unlawful. So, I contacted the Stafford County Government to get permission for the search. Even though it was Sunday, I was able to reach Brett. He was very understanding and told me it was no problem as long as I was only looking for the ring.

Beach before Crowds

I met Rey at the beach and he showed me where they thought the ring landed. The water was about waist deep and there were many families enjoying the shallows. Since the spot was crowded, it took more time than anticipated. I forgot all that when I found the ring in the scoop. I am so happy to have helped a couple of patriots like Rey and Esmeralda!!!

Ring!

Rey Smile!

Rey and Esmeralda were so kind to post the story on their local Facebook news. I have already been contacted by people who saw their post! I also appreciate their generous reward, a portion of which was donated to the Fisher House Foundation https://fisherhouse.org/.

I was happy to retrieve trash during my search. As you can see in the photo, I removed jagged metal and glass just waiting to cut some unsuspecting swimmer’s foot.

Wedding Ring Lost Two Years Ago, FOUND, in Quarryville, PA

  • from Reading (Pennsylvania, United States)

I was contacted by Patrick staying he had lost his titanium wedding band two years ago while mowing his yard. He took his ring off and sat it on the tractor while washing his hands. After he began to mow again, he realized what he had done and the ring had fallen off somewhere in the yard. He would occasionally search for it using a cheap metal detector but with no luck. He decided after two years he would see if anyone searched professionally. He found “The Ring Finders” and immediately called me. I met Patrick at his home and he showed me where he thought it fell off his tractor.  After about 30 min of searching with my Garrett ATPro, I was able to happily return his wedding band to him. I found the ring about 2 inches in the ground and although dirty had no damage to it.
