I got a call from Kristin at about 4:30. She said that her husband had lost his gold ring, which was his late father’s ring, on the beach. The tone of her voice indicated that she was very concerned. I asked her the normal questions about if it was in the water and if she know about where it was lost. She indicated that it was in dry sand and that they thought of buying a detector but the stores where out of stock. I told her that I could be there in just a few minutes.
When I arrived they told me that the ring had been placed in a cupholder of the chair. Kristin and Tim showed me where their chairs where before they picked them up. I fired up the Minelab and in just a few sweeps had a great hit. It was the ring.

*** Carol is visiting Laguna Beach, CA. Her daughter and her went to the beach the day before returning to Utah.. She took her white gold diamond engagement ring off while applying sunscreen setting it on her towel. The rest of the story happens every day, she got distracted, forgetting the ring was there. She didn’t realize her ring was missing until she got to her car.
She returned to the location, spending over an hour of frantically searching for the ring. Someone passing by suggested that she search the internet for my contact information. I got the call taking time to ask a few questions and was able to meet her a half hour later. As we walked down a long set of stairs, she told me she knew it was a long shot but she wanted to make sure we at least tried to search for the ring. I told her if she can get me in the general location, we could find the ring.
As soon as I saw how positive she was about returning to same spot where they had been sitting, I knew this was going to be easy. I set up my metal detector and had the small white gold diamond engagement ring in the scoop a few minutes later. Metal detectors are a good tool for finding rings but the successful recovery has to be credited to Carol getting me to the general area.
She was more than grateful because she had already decided it was going to be impossible to find such a small item in the mass of sand on that beach. Another happy day for Carol and myself

Got a call from fellow RingFinder Matty St Germain asking if I could go to Manasquan for a lost wedding band seeing he couldn’t. I called James and while at the beach he was in the water with his son throwing a football. While tossing the football, his ring flew off with it into the surf. I met him and he showed me the area he was in and I started hunting. Turns out I started out in to deep of water at first and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t find it. I had the area he was in. After awhile I thought about the tide change and him telling Matty he was only about 10 to 15 feet from shore. Being low tide when I starting the hunt I moved closer to the shore line and sure enough I found his ring. He was grateful I found it, he mentioned his wife wasn’t to happy about it. Glad I could save the day and know his wife will be happy again. Another happy ending. Disaster struck when Linda’s son lost his wedding band at the beach near the Weekapaug Inn, Westerly, Rhode Island. The ring was placed on a flipflop while the family enjoyed a sunny weekend at the beach until Linda’s son sprang to action when help with a medical emergency. During a hasty grab for his footwear, the wedding band was dropped into the sand. Due to the circumstances, there was no time to search the sand for a lost ring. Linda told the beach workers what happened and was provided with my contact information. We connected about a week later. The day after Linda contacted me, I planned my trip to search the area where the gold wedding band was lost. It’s not very often I do a search based on a phone explanation, but Linda had solid points of reference based on where they were sitting, so I thought it was worth a try. I arrived and mapped out the area based on our phone call. As I began metal detecting for gold, a couple tried to sit in the location where the son lost track of his gold band. This situation is pretty standard – crowds of people on a beautiful weekend can cause issues with accessing the spot. These beach-goers were kind enough to move over a couple of spaces and let me search for the lost gold band.
The first signal from my metal detector (XP Deus) found gold buried in the sand. The locals applauded, and we chatted briefly about my big find. After seeing the wedding date inscribed in the lost ring, I scurried back to my beach chair and made the Facetime call to share the good news with Linda. She reluctantly answered my call – if a number called me Facetime, and I didn’t recognize it, I would be weirded out too! We eventually got past the awkward discussion, and I broke the news. Linda was planning a trip back to the area the following weekend, so we met at Lilian’s in Niantic for the ring return.

I received a message on my Ring Finders South Jersey Facebook page from Dorothy who asked if I could help find a wedding ring that was lost in Ocean City, NJ earlier today. The ring belongs to her friend Ryan’s father. I spoke with Ryan and he told me how his father Jim lost his wedding band while out in the waves during high tide. We planned to meet during low tide to give us the best chance at finding it. After a thorough grid search of the area did not produce the ring, I expanded the search out a little farther. It was a few minutes later that I heard the tone and dug down approximately 10 inches in the sand. It was the ring! The ring that Jim has not taken off his hand since 1974, the year he married his wife. It was pure joy when the ring was found and able to be put back where it belongs.
I got a text from Alexandra in the evening asking if I could help locating her husband Dennis’ wedding band. I called her and asked what happened. While enjoying the day at the beach, Dennis went in for a swim and felt his wedding band slide off his finger while out in chest deep water. He was devastated, the ring ment so much to him, representing his marriage. Marry only 10 years but was with Alexandra for 26. Dennis was recently in the hospital and being sick had lost weight so the ring was alittle big on him now. Even while in the hospital the ring ment so much they wouldn’t let anyone take it off. Inside the ring was written in Hebrew ” I am my beloved and my beloved in mine ” I went down the next day at low tide and tried for 2 hours but couldn’t find it. I told them I’d be back the next day to try one more time. Went back down the next day and it was going on another 2 hours when I finally got a good signal. Dennis was with me when I heard the signal and with the waves bouncing us up and down, I dug 3 times before I could get it in the scoop and sure enough it was his ring. He was so excited I was afraid he’d drop it so I took it and started walking towards the beach and Alexandra was walking down to meet me, not knowing I found it. I walked up and said I’m done I can’t do this anymore and reached out and handed her the ring . She couldn’t believe it. When Dennis came they just stood there and hugged each other for minutes and the people on the beach were clapping and cheering. One of the best recovery I’ve done in a long time. I’m so happy to reunite them with his ring. Just after 4:30 pm on Wednesday, I got a text message saying in part, “This is Vicki H. Can you please come and try to find my diamond earring. Thanks. We are on 6th Avenue. Just down from Maritime.” Instead of texting back and forth, I prefer to call so that’s what I did. As her phone was ringing, I’m saying to myself, please let this be in the dry sand. When she answered, that was the first question I asked her, and her response was “Yes!” Got her location and told her I’d be there in 10 minutes. I grabbed my Gold Bug 2 detector and headed out.
When I arrived on the beach, I met Vicki and her sisters Nan and Judy. They showed me the 10×10 ft area and said they had been looking for the earring for about 40 minutes before they called me. I tested Vicki’s other earring to ensure I could get a signal, there was very little metal to try and detect. After a successful test, I started a very slow walking grid line. I could tell that they had been looking for the earring and I was concerned that they either moved it or buried it deeper in the sand. I got a couple of bottle caps and some small pieces of foil but didn’t hit her earring on my first pass over the area. Vicki and her sisters reconfirmed the area and I started my second attempt. I got a faint bleep in the sand and hand shoveled the sand onto a plastic strainer I brought. I re-checked the area and the strainer with the detector and had the target in the strainer. I started finger sifting the sand trying to feel the earring with no luck. As I stood up to detect the area again, I got a beautiful sparkle as the sun hit the diamond in the sand. I reached down and picked it up, and realized how easy it was to miss it with my fingers. I held it up in front of me and Nan noticed it first and then Vicki. There were big smiles and the “I can’t believe it” words from all three ladies.
Vicki – Thank you for calling me to help find your lost treasure. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
Dave called me at 2:30 pm today and told me the story about loosing his deceased Fathers Gold wedding Ring. He was walking his dog yesterday and swatted a mosquito and felt the ring come off. Dave searched until night fall with no luck. The next morning he searched again. At this point he knew he needed help. After an internet search he called me and within 15 minutes Dave had his ring back.

Got a call from Judith asking if I could help find her husband Kevin’s wedding band. While playing volleyball with his kids his wedding band flew off his finger. They searched themselves but couldn’t find it. While searching another beach goer told them about Ring Finders from seeing me on the beach a few times before. They found me on line and called. I told her I’d be on my way and met up with them about 15 minutes or so later. I saw where they were searching and just off to the left side I found Kevin’s ring. They were so glad to get it back. A great happy ending for all. So glad I could help.
