Heirloom Rings Lost at Malibu Beach, CA…Found.

After spending this morning having breakfast with fellow Ring Finder Stan Ross, in which we talked of the joy we are able to return to the people we help, I got a call from Sabrina later in the day. She had been at the beach with friends, and shook her hands, when she looked to find that two of her rings had come off. She and her friends searched for them, but were unable to find them. She then got on the internet, and was able to find The Ring Finders where she got my name.

I began to ask what had happened, where it happened, and how long ago did it happen. She said that she lost them in the dry sand, just a couple hours before she called. I told her to secure that area, and that I would be there as soon as possible, because I knew from what she explained to me, that the chances were good for finding her rings (it is so important to look for lost items as soon as possible to insure recovery). When I arrived Sabrina and her friends took me to the area of the loss, where I could see they had drawn a line in the shape of a box, about 10 x 10 feet. They felt real sure that the rings would be in that area. I asked her to show me exactly what she did, and when I saw her motion, I knew the rings would be right where she had been.

I put the headphones on, swung my coil a few times, and received a good sound. I scooped up the sand, and when I shook it out, there was a bottle cap, and one of her rings. I pulled out the bottle cap and said, “I don’t think this is what we were looking for”. She reached out and took it with a bit of disappointment, when reached back in the scoop to bring out her ring, and said, “but I think this is”. Her joy was incredible, I swung a few more times, and scooped up her other ring. It was great to see her so happy, as those rings mean a lot to her and her mother. Stan and I were so right this morning, to see the joy returned is a great reward.

Ring lost in the surf at Imperial Beach FOUND!

While scanning the local Craig’s List lost and found, I see an ad asking if anyone had found this particular ring in Imperial Beach, and if so, to contact Cat. I emailed back that if she would like someone to search for it, to give TheRingFinders.com a try. I offered my services and agreed to meet her father Bob down at the location early the next morning to take advantage of the low tide, as Cat lived in Las Vegas and had already returned home. It had been lost a few days earlier, at low tide, and in 4 feet of water. (figures huh?) I had my doubts that it could be found this particular morning because the tide was actually a bit higher than when she lost it, but, I wanted to see the search area and give it a try anyway. The sooner you search, the better the odds of a successful recovery. I figured I would probably have to plan a return trip at a huge minus tide to get out far enough to be in the search area but that wasn’t going to happen in the near future. This was going to be the lowest tide until the end of the month, so, it was now or wait.

Bob gave me directions to where he thought Cat lost the ring and I started a grid with my Excalibur just north of that point and worked my way south to where the rest of the family had camped in the dry sand. I made about six 100 foot passes from slope to chest deep in the surf when I got a strong signal at my deepest point before heading back toward shore. The 3-4 foot surf was roughing me up a bit and making it hard to scoop, but, after my 3rd try, the target was in my scoop. After sifting out the sand, A unique looking ring, that matched their description, was in my hand. I couldn’t believe it! I guess it was either lost in shallower water than she thought, or, the surf may have moved it in a bit before being buried. A call back to Bob, who lived close by, and he was there in a flash. We texted and called Cat with photos which made her day. Another satisfying recovery in less than ideal conditions. Great to meet you Bob and to talk to you Cat. May your ring have more stories to tell!

Wedding Ring Lost on Marina Del Rey Beach, CA…Found.

Bahram called me last night about 11:15 for his friend Vusal who had lost his wedding ring on the beach earlier in the day. Vusal is a physician from Azerbaijan who is here studying liver transplant medicine at UCLA. The two were at the beach about 3:00PM when Vusal had taken off his ring to enter the water. He put his ring in his bag, on top of his towel. They had originally been in front of the Lifeguard tower when they were asked to move because of the safety corridor the Lifeguard had created.

I told Bahram (he was helping translate for Vusal and myself) that I would like to try and find the ring as soon as possible and arranged to meet them in about 40 minutes. I arrived at about 12:00 AM and we walked out to the area to search. We searched the original area they were before the Lifeguard told them to move with no results. We then moved over to second area, and I began to grid the new area. It was then that Vusal told Bahram that he remembered the towel being in the bag until they arrived to this new area, when he removed it to lay out on the sand. That convinced me that we needed to focus on this area for the remainder of the search.

At about 12:45 a Police patrol came rolling upon us, and told us the beach was closed and we needed to leave. I explained what I was doing, and that Vusal had lost his ring, so they agreed to let us remain to continue the search. They went on to kick others off the beach while we searched. About 15 minutes later, a little outside of the area that Bahram and Vusal had shown me, I was able to find the ring, the ring Vusal had had for 8 years, something so important, he was willing to meet me on the beach in the early morning, after taking an UBER taxi from about 30 miles away; because of a phone call to a person he had never met. I am happy to have made his day, a day we will all three remember.

Lost White Gold Wedding Band .. Venice Beach, CA. .. Recovered

Kristy called me about 7pm from Venice Beach. She had lost he wedding ring believing it was in the sand at the beach. I was more than an hour and a half from her location. It would be dark before I got where she was. I asked for the details of how she lost it, before wasting her time waiting for me.
Kristy and her husband had spent the day with their two children at the beach. She put her two wedding rings in a pocket of her backpack. She believed that one of the rings may have fallen out sometime while getting things out of her backpack. She didn’t realize it was missing until she got back to the car. Returning to the lifeguard station near where they had been, the lifeguard on duty told her about TheRingFinders.
After I heard her story I told her there was a good possibility that the ring could be there. If she could wait to show me where they were sitting it could be an easy find.
Arriving at 8:30pm, we met in the Rose St.parking lot. Her husband had to stay with the kids who were sleeping in the car. Starting the search grid of about a 30 x 20 ft area. I drug my scoop down each side. I was looking for a small white gold wedding band. These can be tricky as they often sound like tin foil. The ring didn’t show up after covering that whole spot. Then Kristy told me that it could have fallen out at the nearby park. I told her to wait while I started to cross grid. I expanded 10ft outside the original box. The second pass north/south “Bam” a huge tinfoil sound. Wedding band in the scoop. I actually found it on the drag marker wher I had started my first pass. It’s game of inches as Chris Turner often says. A grateful lady smiling has her wedding back where it belongs. The family outing turned out to be a long day, but instead of a bad memory. Kristy and her family will remember this day as a good day at the beach. So will I . I hope I never get tired of seeing miracles.

Misplaced 18ct Gold Ring In A Downtown Edmonton, Alberta Canada

I received a call on Monday from an elderly lady who had misplaced her mother’s gold ring.

She and her house keeper had looked everywhere in her condo. The ring had been missing for approximately one week and they both felt that it must have gone in the garbage.

Upon arrival on Thursday morning they immediately showed me the garbage and recycle bags outside on the deck and so I went through both bags. The ring was not there.

Next I searched the couch, chairs, cupboards, drawers, book shelves, you name it. I looked under the bathroom sink and furnace registers, and still no ring. I proceeded into the bedroom and checked under and around the sides of the bed. I asked them both if they had looked in the closet and the dressing table drawers. They told me that they had taken everything out. I asked if they would mind if I checked in the drawers, and “BINGO”, there was the ring tucked in between a pair of socks. When I showed her the ring I saw in her face just how relieved she was, and how happy she was to have her mother’s ring back on her finger again.

Lost Platinum Wedding Ring.. Huntington Beach, CA. .. Recovered

This morning I was visiting my daughter in Seal Beach when I received a call from David. His wife, Jillian had lost her wedding band in the sand after removing it to apply sun screen lotion on their son. It was about noon, so I asked them to claim as much of the area as possible.
I was lucky to find parking within a few blocks. David was waiting near the main road and walked me to where Jillian was setup guarding the search location. She told me it was a small platinum ring with diamonds. After a few minutes I received a 12-05 signal from my CTX 3030 Minelab detector which could also be tinfoil. I told her, I think this is it before I dug into the sand. Yes, it was there in my scoop. Then Jillian immediately broke into tears of joy.
It took longer to take pictures of the ring and Jillian’s smile than to find the ring. I have to apologize for the poor photos. They were a very nice family and it was a pleasure to help them. One more success story for TheRingFinders.com.

Lost Man’s Gold Wedding Ring in Granville Ohio. “FOUND”

I received a call about a lost Gold Wedding Ring. He was at a park with more than 50 other people. The ring fell off in the grass after using the restroom and applying hand sanitizer to his hands and rubbing it in. About a dozen people were on their knees looking through the grass to help find the lost gold wedding ring, but with no luck. I searched the area and there was the ring tuck down deep into the grass. The ring has a lot of sentimental value since he been wearing the ring for over forty years now. He was very happy to have the ring return back to him.

Ring Lost at Fiesta Island Found

Christen called me with the typical tale of woe. Her husband, of a little over a month, had removed his ring to apply skin lotion and placed the ring in the beach chair pocket for safekeeping. They prepare to leave, chair gets folded up, ring ends up in sand. Since they didn’t notice it missing until they got home, the trick was figuring out just exactly where it was lost. After searching and retracing their steps as best they could, they went to the internet for help. Maybe rent a detector? Wait a minute, spend $60 to rent one and I still need to learn how to use it? Let’s go to plan B, getting someone with experience who has better equipment than the average rental detector. This is where I came in. I met Christen at the parking area and walked with her over to where they had been camped the previous day. She remembered being between two landmarks, so, that’s where I started my search. After my gridding the area for a little while, and finding lots of pull tabs, I was right about midway between the two landmarks. Good signal, scooped and found the ring. Good job getting me in the correct spot! Let the ring story continue! It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

Saturday 7-25-15

Today,  four of our ringfinders met at Venice Beach to attend a skateboard competition for disabled kids “Life Rolls On” .. John Hughes, Curtis Cox, Steve Smith and myself met early for breakfast and a few hours of detecting before the event. After the event they headed home and I stayed a little longer to check out the Santa Monica pier using my Segway.
I was within a few blocks of returning to my car when Sofia called asking me if I could help her find a ring lost in the sand. When I asked her location she said Venice Bch. lifeguard tower #18. My detector was in my car parked in front of LG tower #19.
It was only 15 or 20 minutes till I met her and she told me that the ring had fallen out of her back pack. She marked an area she thought it might be. It only took a few minutes because she had not left the area. Thank goodness for cellphones and the Internet. It was located a few feet outside the location she marked, but that’s normal. Also, itwas a coincidence that I was so close because I live an hour away, when the traffic is good. It was a good day for all.

Chris called me on Tuesday in regards to his wife’s lost wedding ring which was thought to have been in the back yard. As I had other commitments I told Chris that I would be available on Friday evening, and that since the ring was lost in their back yard, it would be safe. Amanda was very distressed about her ring and  I reassured them both that if the ring was there I would find it for them.

Amanda told me she had been in the back yard for a couple of hours with friends, visiting and playing with their children. They then had gone inside the house for a while. When her friends left and after putting her daughter down for a nap, she realized that her ring was missing. Panic set in.

Amanda and Chris looked for the ring but had no luck.  Then Amanda went on Google to check about renting a metal detector.  Our website came up and she contacted me.

Amanda showed me the area in the back yard where she had been. I went to work slowly checking all possible areas in both the front and back yard as I knew how import this ring was to her.  Two hours later, I had to tell Chris and Amanda that the ring was not outside.  Amanda burst out crying. I told them that it had to be inside.  They told me that they had looked every where in the house and so I asked Amanda to retrace her steps.

She told me she had been in the freezer and the refrigerator.  Chris had also taken the plumbing apart in the bathroom incase the ring had fallen while Amanda was washing her hands.

I asked many questions and  Amanda told me she had been sitting on their leather couch.   Chris had already checked the couch but I needed to check for myself.   We turned it over and I checked the inside of the couch, and between the back rest and the cushions.  I then checked around the back support of the couch and found the ring.  I shouted “Bingo”.Amanda jumped out of her chair with enormous relief.
