You can rent a metal detector and search for hours and not find your lost ring…Dose that mean your ring is not there? I have found over 300 lost rings for people over the past 20 years and I’d say more then 60% of my clients had rented a metal detector before hiring me to find their lost ring.

A very small percentage of people who rent a metal detector will find their lost ring as most people have never used a metal detector before, and the one’s you rent are not the best out there. The other factor is where to look for your lost ring…

Platinum Wedding Ring found in Lyall Bay, Wellington, New Zealand

Veronika called me to say that her husband, Sean, had lost his platinum wedding ring while digging out a small garden, next to a public footpath, at the front of their house.  She sounded very anxious so I managed to find he time to go straight to her house to start searching.  They had collected all the long grass and weeds in rubbish bags so it was quick and easy to run the detector over that to make sure it wasn’t there.

The area that was dug over was very small but very contaminated with trash and I was worried about a lot of power wires running directly overhead.  Luckily they did not cause any problem and it was just a matter of working through the trash.

I got to an area that was giving me multiple signals and would occasionally flash up a 45 which was the right number for platinum, but I just couldn’t pinpoint it.  I had to start eliminating the trash out of the ground and finally got a clear signal.

I dug down under the roots of one of the plants and it just popped up with the knife.  I don’t know how it managed to get so far down and under the roots.

There was great excitement and a lovely squeal of delight from Veronika when I told her I had found it, not to mention the big hug.  I just love it when I get these finds.

I received a call today from Ryan and Jess regarding Ryan’s lost wedding ring.

Ryan and Jess reported Ryan was playing football in the front yard with family when

his ring flew off of his finger.

Ryan mentioned his wife Jess was not happy :), but after speaking to her she

insisted Ryan would be sleeping in-doors tonight regardless of the out-come.

Ryan reported one of his family members had located www.theringfinders.com after

his failed attempts at finding his ring.

I think you can tell from the smiles, today was a good day

I was happy very happy for Ryan and Jess, you could see the relief and happiness

in both of them when the ring was recovered.

Engagement Ring Recovered in Yard at Pukerua Bay, Wellington, New Zealand

Wayne contacted me through another detectorist and explained that his daughter, Ursula had lost her engagement ring while putting her child in the car.  I was unavailable for a week and they had searched the area on their hands and knees each day in the hope of finding it.

Wayne had put a chalk mark  on the path where the car had been parked.  It started to rain just as I arrived.  It was a small area to search but heavily contaminated with junk metal.  I checked many signal but no sign of the ring so Wayne asked his daughter to come around and give us some more detail.

She was able to tell me that she was getting in the drivers seat when she felt something slip through her fingers and when she looked down her ring was gone, and this was a little bit further up the path.  So this gave me another area to search, but still heavily contaminated.

Knowing they had searched the area thoroughly, there was the possibility they had stood on it so I started digging some of the shallow trash to make sure there was nothing masking the good signals.  I was digging up coins, pipes, bottle tops, nails – and there was pieces on top of each other.  A short time later I got a couple of signals very close.  The first one was trash but when I cleared that the other one gave a good signal.  I used the pro pointer and pushed down through the grass and right at the bottom was the small gold ring.  I called Ursula over to show her what I had found and she just burst into tears – tears of joy, of course.  Even when I had packed up and was leaving she was still sobbing and gave me a great big hug.

Wayne gave me a generous reward which was really appreciated, but knowing I had made a young lady very happy was priceless.

Metal Detecting for 2 Lost Rings in Pemberton, BC

I got a call the other day from a young lady named Alex who lost 2 rings in the snow. She and her husband were visiting from New Zealand and while driving up past Pemberton they pulled over to the side of the road so Alex could made a snow angel.  After getting back in the truck and heading for a friends place she realized 5 minutes later that her rings were gone. These were her diamond engagement ring and diamond wedding band. You can imagine how devastated she was!They turned around and went back and searched for 1 1/2 hours in the snow and cold… but no rings… There was one thing I never talked about in my video below… Alex told me that her and her husband were very lucky to be alive! shortly after they were heading home they hit black ice and Flipped the truck…What a bad day!!!A few days after, Alex got on the internet and found The Ring Finders, instead of renting a metal detector she called me. We discussed the search and we agreed to meet,  I would drive her and her cousin to the location to find the rings as her husband was in a business meeting.It was a good 2 1/2 hour drive, when we arrived at the location. I could tell where she was making snow angels and I thought this would be a fast recovery, but I was wrong. Almost an hour later near the side of the road where they parked the truck I got a good strong signal. I bent down and moved the snow to see the glint of gold…Only a few feet away was the second ring. The smile tells the story! Lost Man’s Wedding Ring in Columbus, OH. “FOUND”

About two weekends ago, I received an email  from a guy that has lost his wedding band. Over the weekend as he was raking and putting leave in trash bags. As he notice that his ring was missing.  He has been looking for the ring since. Dumping the bags full of leaves and searching though them with his bare hands. After a few emails, a search date was set. I show up and started my search, after about a hour the ring was found in one the the many piles from dumping the bags. He was very happy to have the ring back.

Ring lost in La Jolla Found

This is another long distance find. Portia called me and said her husband Chris probably lost his wedding ring at a beach resort in La Jolla. The location was on private property so they had to arrange for me to do a search there. They were visiting from Colorado and had already returned home when they contacted me so they couldn’t show me the location in person but they were able to e-mail me a map with the likely area noted. So with my trusty “treasure” map and a contact name at the resort, I headed down the the beach with my E-trac. After meeting the resort person and telling him my plan, I headed over to the search area and started a grid pattern. Since I was searching for a stainless ring, I didn’t leave anything to chance on signals…..and there were a ton of them! I dug everything that made a repeatable sound. Seems nobody has detected that area for quite some time as there were target everywhere! After about an hour or so, moving a few beach chairs,  and over 40 targets, I got another one that didn’t fit any common target I.D. Success! It matched the description so my day was done. I gave them the fun call and made arrangements to mail the ring to them. It’s up to the USPS to finish the reunion now! Thanks for calling me and hopefully when you vistit here again, we’ll get a chance to meet.

Lost Wedding Ring Sugar Land, Texas (Recovered)

24kt. Wedding Ring Recovered in Sugar Land 11/05/2013

 

I received a call from Chetham, regarding his wife’s lost 24kt Gold Wedding Ring at a park in Sugar Land, Texas. Chetham reported he and his wife Nethra were at a gathering with friends when she lost her ring.

Chetham said he and his wife where sitting at one of the picnic tables in the park when her ring accidentally flew off of her finger and landed in the grass near the picnic table.

Chetham reported he and several friends searched for an hour or better on their hands and knee digging through the grass trying to find the ring.

Chetham said after unsuccessfully locating the ring he did a Google search and located the web site www.theringfinders.com.

I met Chatham and Nethra at the park today and we searched the area they felt the missing ring would be found. We searched and searched the area in question with no success. I had Nethra perform a re-enactment of where she was standing and what she was doing when the ring came off her finger.

The ring was located 180 degrees in the opposite direction of where they believed the ring would be found.

You can see from the pictures both Chatham and Nethra were very happen when their missing ring was found.

Lost Wedding Ring… Found At Ames, Iowa

I received a call last week from Tim who lost his wedding band while tailgating at a college football game the weekend before. He had rented a detector but didn’t find it.

So I met him and his wife today to try and find it. We gridded off an area where they had parked with marker flags and I went to work. Wow what a terrible place to try and find a gold ring. The pop tops and bottle caps just littered the ground.

I knew the ring had to be close to the surface so I didn’t dig any targets and I put on my small coil. I was there two and half hours with nothing to show for it but a pouch of junk.

Tim told me he had been wearing gloves that day but took them off when he was playing a game at a table they brought. So I asked him and his wife to direct me to the area where the table was that day as best as they could remember.

His wife walked over to a spot where she thought the table had been. She then bent over and picked up his ring! It was like magic. I told them I don’t care who finds it as long as it’s found. We were all very happy to have had a successful search.

I received a call from Trafford who had been throwing food scraps to the sea birds when he felt his Titanium Wedding band come off his finger.  He didn’t see where it landed but thought it may have gone all the way to the water.

He, his wife, and another couple spent almost 2 hours searching the sand but were unsuccessful.

Luckily they found our website when looking for a metal detector to hire.

I arrived at the beach a short time later and met the very anxious couple and got them to show me where they thought they were when the ring came off.

Trafford gave me and area where he thought he had been standing, but there was only a very small area of dry sand as the tide was now fully in.

I thought it was worth checking the dry sand first before getting my feet wet.  I ground balanced the AT Pro to the sand and gave the coil one sweep over the sand.  I got a signal straight away, which looked good, so I dug a shovel full of sand out and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the ring pop up to the surface.

Trafford and Rachel were so excited and they couldn’t believe I had found it so quickly.

The ring meant a lot to them as they have only had it for 4 months and it had been blessed.

I feel so privileged to have been able to reunite them with the ring, and this will add a happy story to its history.

Thank you for a very generous reward.  A share of that will go to the Life Flight Trust Ambulance.
