I received a call from young lady, she asked if I could find a ring that she lost a year ago under her front porch. Sounds easy enough so we set up a date for Saturday to come and look for it. She tells me that she rented a metal detector and found a bunch of nails and gave up the search, she also tells me they are selling the house and she needs to find this ring ASAP.

After arriving to the location, I met her husband and we went over the search location,  I’m still a little unclear  were the ring was lost, he said she was gardening that day but also told me the ring was lost under the front porch. I ended up calling his wife Tracy and she told me 100% the ring was lost under the front porch. After digging around in the rocks up pops a beautiful gold ring from behind some rocks up against the house.

Nate called me from Crystal Cove State Beach which is located about five miles from my location. He had spent a couple hours trying to find his platinum wedding ring lost in the dry sand.

Nate had given his wedding ring to his wife, Julie while he went for a swim. Julie slipped it onto her finger as she has done before, but this time she didn’t put her ring on to secure it. When the ring slipped off her finger she felt it come off as soon happened.

Parking lot was full but I on my first pass a car was just leaving and I got a great parking space. Julie and Nate were keeping the area of the loss clear even though the beach was packed. It should be an easy search if the ring didn’t fly into one of the neighbors camp area.

Grid searching a 12’x 20′ zone, I was able to find the ring within 15 minutes. It was deeper than I expected because they had moved a lot of sand searching by hand. Julie was overjoyed and very emotional when I gave her thumbs up telling her I had it in my scoop. Both Nate and Julie thanked me. Lost platinum wedding ring found in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

“I was absolutely crushed when my wedding ring flew off into some very thick trees, bushes, ivy and other dark undergrowth when out jogging one evening. Unfortunately, I had been unable to see exactly what direction it had flown off in so had quite a wide search area of about 10 metres square to thrash through.
After a total of six hours (across the course of the evening when the incident happened and the morning after) of searching I had given up on ever seeing it again but decided to go online – just to see if I could get any last ideas of how I might find it and stumbled across Constantine’s profile. In short – he saved my life. I contacted Constantine in the morning and by the afternoon he had come up from Oxfordshire with his equipment. Sunday of Labor Day weekend, I was sitting near the office at the Newport Dunes RV Resort. Mike called asking if I could help him find his Platinum / White Gold wedding ring lost in dry sand. I asked him where he was located. He told me he was at the Newport Dunes on the beach. Couldn’t believe that I was less than 50 yards away. I walked over to talk to him, but had to go a couple blocks to get my detector.

When I returned Mike told me that he had put 3 rings in the cupholder of the beach chair and they fell out when picked up the chair. He found two of the rings but this one wouldn’t let him find it. The area was well marked off, so began a small grid search. Actually, I missed it on my first grid. It showed up in the scoop after I did a cross grid and it was a very scratchy signal, possibly because of the two different metals. The ring is mostly platinum with white gold filigree inlaid. I didn’t have time to re-scan the ring with my detector to learn why it was such an iffy signal. Possibly the ring was vertical in the sand which coming in from the other direction may have helped the signal? No time to play around we had photos to take for the book of smiles.

It was a good short search with smiles everywhere and Mike was grateful to have his wedding ring of 20 years back on his finger. I still can’t believe how close I was when he called.

Lost Keys Found! Avalon NJ

I received a call from Andrew late yesterday evening after he and his family left the beach yesterday, realizing that he had lost his keys in the sand.  He explained where about the family was sitting grid of that area the keys were nowhere to be found.  So we expanded the search further out another 30 feet on each side and the rental car keys were found!

Found in Crawlspace of Seattle, WA! Lost Gold & Diamond Engagement Ring!

This afternoon I received an email from a Hawthorne Hills couple who had lost a ring over the weekend. While fidgeting with one of her rings on the back deck, the ring slipped out of her hand and they heard it hit the deck and roll! The deck was on a steep incline with lots of landscaped features and shrubbery around it, all very viable and hard to find places it could have landed. They searched for a while before realizing what they needed was a metal detector… or even better, a Ringfinder!

After a phone conversation where I got the details I needed to plan my attack, I gathered up my gear. I made it there soon thereafter and started to hunt the landscaped hillside. After striking out around the perimeter, the grim possibility that it slipped through the cracks of the deck was growing. The heat was stifling, and my summer attire of flipflops and shorts was not the best choice of armor to battle man-eating spiders and other scary things (alive or dead) in the cramped dark area under the deck! But once I had exhausted the other possibilities, it was time…for THE CRAWLSPACE!

Needless to say, it was cramped under there. I had to belly crawl around and I methodically swept the area with my detector. Turning around was nearly impossible, and I was hoping to end this hunt quick! Luckily, after some time, SUCCESS! The ring was found and I quickly escaped the creepycrawlers! After celebrating with the owners, I hastily drove home for a “Silkwood shower”!

Stone Harbor NJ Lost Wedding Ring Found by Dave Milsted

I received a desperate email from a devastated woman. I was Mary’s last hope. The day before she went with her family for a day trip to the beach in Stone Harbor NJ. While her husband in the water with their daughter, he watched his ring fall off his hand and sink into the sandy bottom. They searched for a while with no success.

They drove back home thinking that the ring was gone forever. A search of the internet, later that night brought Mary to the Ring Finders site since I have made other recoveries in Stone Harbor. She sent me an email around midnight.

I didn’t see it until after my 6-mile run the next morning. I answered her email asking all of the questions needed when doing a water search. I also followed up with a phone call. Mary answered all of my questions, but she said there was someone else already looking for the ring. I said to let me know if she needed me when he was done.

Later in the morning, I called the other detectorist. He said that he didn’t have any luck in finding it. So Mary and I were in touch again. I told her that I would go look for her.

On the drive to the beach, I was getting a gut feeling that this wouldn’t be successful. Someone else already searched the area. I asked for help from above from my mom & my mentor.

I got to the beach and got another bad feeling. I waited till the lifeguards left. I was in the water at 5 pm. I didn’t get my first signal till 5:10 pm. It was a very promising sound and number on my CTX 3030. It was the ring that I was looking for. I left the beach to get my phone to take some pictures. I sent one to Mary. She called right away and I could tell that she was crying. We made arrangements to meet the next day to return the ring.

I got plenty of hugs when we met. It’s a good thing that my wife doesn’t get jealous!!!

Vip and Krishna are from the San Francisco Bay Area. They are visiting Laguna Beach on their vacation. While having lunch at the Cliff Restaurant, Vip’s Zirconium/ Rose Gold w/ black diamonds wedding band slipped off his finger falling into some dense Bougainvillea shrubbery. ( this plant has vicious thorns )

The staff at the restaurant helped him look for it and somebody suggested that he try to get a metal detector. Vip google searched metal detector and my name came up in TheRingFinders website. After calling me, I met them about 45 minutes after they called. The restaurant had one of the waitresses escort me to the lower deck where I could get behind the thick growth. I was hoping that the ring did not hang up in the dense upper growth. At ground level I couldn’t use my normal detector, even with a small sniper coil. Lots of obstacles and small metal trash.

I proceeded using a Garrett handheld pinpointer. After pulling out salt shaker tops, forks, bottle caps, etc., I reached under the Bougainvillea plants to pull out the dead leaves so I can scan them with the small pinpointer detector. While moving these dead leaves, I pulled the ring into an area that the waitress saw it as I began to detect the leaves.

There it is yelled the waitress! Many times one of the people helping finds the item while I’m searching. It doesn’t matter who finds it. It was just nice to see the smiles on Vip and Krishna’s faces, this is their first year of marriage and this ring very important to both them. Also losing a ring on vacation doesn’t make a good memory. Now they have a great story to add to this vacation.

It was a very ugly area to loose a ring you can see the area of the loss in the background of the photo. I was having second thoughts about how much time it would take to find this ring. Nevertheless it all worked out well with a successful find and smiles all around.

Albert and Martha had a nice day with their kids at Doheny State Beach until they returned to their car. That was when Martha remembered earlier in the day,  she had taken off her platinum and diamond wedding rings off to put on sunscreen. Getting distracted taking care of two youngsters she forgot to put the rings in a safer place. They were sure the rings were in the sand near where they had been sitting.

Albert went to his cell phone, Google searching ” How to find a ring in the sand.” That was how he found my information on TheRingFinders website. After his call to me, I assured him that I could find the rings if they could stay at the location.
We met on the beach a half hour later. Then it was a few minutes of swinging my metal detector in a 10’x 10′ area till the two beautiful platinum rings were found.

I wish all searches were this easy. Martha felt embarrassed that she was so careless, so I told her how many times people don’t realize they lose something till they get home. The success of this search was because Martha realized she lost the rings before too much time had passed and her husband used his smartphone to find a ringfinder.

Needless to say they were very happy to have the rings back where they belong. It was a pleasure to help them.

Lost ring at Ocean Beach found

Marcio was at Ocean Beach with his wife and child having a nice day in the sun when the outlook changed. He had been building sand castles, washed the sand off the toys in the surf, and went in for a short dip. After all this fun, he realized his wedding ring was missing. He does an online search and contacted me for help. Even though the tide was coming in and approaching the evening high, I agreed to meet them and get an idea of where the ring may have been lost, do a preliminary search, and maybe get lucky with a quick recovery. Oh well, that wasn’t to be. I searched all the dry sand around where they were camped out for the day and also hit the slope heading down to the water. The tide and surf was up on this steep section of beach and had a nasty shore break, so, a water search at this time would have been pointless. I told Marcio that I would return in the early morning hours to take advantage of the minus low tide at that time. Fast forward to 12:30am when I arrived at the beach. I started a grid from dry sand to knee deep water, and at 1:10am got the signal I was waiting for. I texted Marcio with the good news and connected with him later that day for the return. Great to meet you folks and thank you for the reward.
