Wedding Ring located in garden in Ngaio, New Zealand

  • from Wellington (New Zealand)

imagePavla was gardening at a client’s property when she noticed her wedding ring was missing.
She spent some time searching for the ring, without success, before contacting me.
It was only a small garden area to search but it was made difficult with small shrubs that held the coil 4 or 5 inches off the ground.
My CTX3030 didn’t come up with any good targets so I swapped over to my AT Pro with a small coil. It wasn’t a great signal but when I checked it with the pinpointer the ring appeared just under some bark chip.
The sense of relief is obvious in the photo and the big hug put a smile on my face as well.
As always, the reward money was appreciated and helps to pay for more equipment.image

Wedding band recovered in the sand dunes of Grand Haven, Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

Matthew B. called me last night to see if I could find his wedding band that he lost while climbing on the sand dunes while vacationing in Grand Haven. He was enjoying the dunes with his wife Kristin and their young nephew. While climbing up on one of the paths Mathew had to use his hands to pull himself up on the soft sand. When he stood up to look over Lake Michigan he noticed that his ring was missing. After backtracking and an unsuccessful search, Matthew decided to search Google for metal detecting services. Matthew came across The Ring Finders. He contacted Tom Towsend who was not available but Tom referred him to me (Thank you Tom for the referral) and I said I could meet him the next morning. I contacted my Ring Finder partner, Dave Boyer, and off we went. We were there for about 20 minutes. I went up one path and Dave went up another path and at the top of the dune where Matthew had put his hands to lift himself up, the ring was found. Kristin had decided that if we couldn’t find the ring she was going to throw her ring away on the dunes and they would go buy another matching set. We are happy that the ring was found and Kristin didn’t have to throw hers away. As a footnote to this story, this is where I met my wife 55 years ago to this day. IMG_2361IMG_2364IMG_2365 IMG_2366 IMG_2367

Wedding Ring Lost and Found at Siesta Key Beach, Sarasota, Florida

Chris body surfed into the beach on tropical storm Colin’s waves, rolled over and then felt his wedding ring slip off of his finger and disappear into the ocean forever.

Chris and Michelle finally got away for a long awaited vacation to the warm waters of Florida this week. Then Tropical Storm Colin showed up to wreak it and then Chris lost his ring making this vacation a disaster. A couple of hours later Michelle googled “lost ring Siesta Key” and up popped SRARC on The Ring Finders. She contacted Tom and he passed her onto Mike Miller. Mike set a hunt up for the next day at 5:00 pm. Mike and Mark Sillence showed up and went to work after a few instructions from Michelle and Chris. About 10 minutes later Mike got lucky and pulled the ring from the surf. Chris and Michelle were overjoyed and we at SRARC are happy to report that with the ring returned and the weather turning much nicer the vacation will turn out to be a fond memory with a good story to share with friends and family. Team SRARC just keeps collecting those smiles.

Found lost Wedding Ring East Spokane

  • from Spokane (Washington, United States)

The weeds were at it again. This time a hard working gardener was trying to be wise while tending to her garden beds and took off her rings. After placing them in her pants pocket the inevitable had begun. She remembered taking  her fit bit out of her pocket but not the rings. So the next morning when she saw that her rings were not on, she looked in her pants but only found her engagement ring. Two days of searching went by with no sign of the ring. She even rented a metal detector and tried looking for the ring, with no instructions  from the rental company.  Then on Google with a few key phrases Diane found me through my Craigslist post. I showed up that Sunday afternoon with a confidence that her back yard was hiding something from her. I swung over the area where she took out her fit bit without finding the ring, so I decided to grid the whole back yard. It took two grid lines to get me near the ring. Then my V3i detector screamed at me. I looked down in the grass as I pinpointed and saw the golden rim of her ring. It is so much fun to be out there trying to find lost items. This was the first ring find of the summer for me and I’m glad Diane has her 32 year old wedding ring back on her hand.

Watch Lost and Found, Then Returned at One Tree Island Clearwater, Florida

Robert’s Watch was lost as he jumped from the aft of his boat and caught it on the edge. He and a boating buddy had been enjoying the day playing on the island when the boat began drifting away from the shore so he quickly jumped in to push it back in. The watch was a gift from his wife and very important to him. They tried snorkeling for it but after a few days decided to ask for help. They found SRARC on The Ring Finders and contacted Mike Miller. After an unsuccessful hunt Mike told them he would look for a good low tide day and schedule another hunt. For two weeks Robert and his wife scuba dived the area looking for the watch. Three weeks later a great low tide appeared and the SRARC team showed up for the hunt. Robert and His wife ferried all 8 of them out to the island. The team, Jerry and Debbie Schneider, Paul Hill, Howard Metts, Dimitur Alipiev, Mark Sillence, Joe Montione, and Mike went to work. About 45 minutes later Jerry and Debbie shouted “we found it”. We all joined in and called Robert over so we could return his watch. As you can see there were lots of smiles. Congratulations Jerry and Debbie on a great recovery.

FINALLY! I Found Owner of Lost Ring West Yarmouth, Cape Cod MA.

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

FINALLY! and its meaning.
Ron & Mary ring1

Last summer while waving to his children that were on the beach, Ron’s ring took a slide off his finger and a plunge into the water. As hard and long as Ron tried to find his ring, he had no success. He and his wife decided to enjoy the rest of their vacation and left a note with the property owners should some one find and turn in the lost wedding band. Months passed and having very little luck in finding anything I started detecting the lesser used, private beaches. Late in December I found Ron’s ring. The property was closed for the winter and would not re-open until mid-May.

Mid-May came and I called the property office. I did not get a chance to fully describe the ring I had found before Heather was telling me of the entire inscription and where and how the ring was lost. Due to their privacy policy Heather could not give me the owner’s information. But she said she would contact the owner and have him call me.

Ron and I played phone tag for the next day. We FINALLY connected and after confirmation was made I mailed the ring the next day – Friday. I was informed that the package would be delivered on Tuesday. It is hard to believe but the package was delivered Saturday – the next day. FINALLY the ring was back where it belonged, on Ron’s finger. During our conversation I had to ask. . .what was the meaning of FINALLY being engraved on the inside of the ring. It seems Ron and Mary had known each other since early grade school. They were friends, but never close until many years lafter. It took a long time for their true love to FINALLY blossom. Now they have been married for 13 wonderful years. It was worth my and their wait to FINALLY reveal the story. I always enjoy being part of a ring return with smiles.

Wedding Ring Lost in Backyard .. Huntington Beach, CA. .. Found

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Mike emailed me in the morning after finding my contact information on TheRingFinders.com. He included his phone number which I used to reply to his request for help. After hearing his story, I explained how the metal detector works and with the information that he gave me, I should be able to find the ring..
The day before, Mike had been doing some gardening in his backyard. He actually felt his gold wedding ring fly off his finger. There were lots of dead leaves and soft soil in the area he thought it may be. He spent some time that evening searching the garden and the grass in front of the planter with no success.
We met the next day after he got home from work. Seeing the small search area I put a 6 inch coil on my CTX metal detector to begin the search. Unable to get a signal in the planter, I was about to use my pin pointer to search in the plants and against the wall. Before shutting the detector off, I passed it over the grass in front of the planter. “Boom” gold ring tone from my detector with a 12-13 ID number. The ring was well hidden in a depression in the lawn. Mike told me he had raked his fingers through the grass several times before calling me. He did call the gardener that morning telling him not to do the backyard that day, which could have been the difference of this being a successful search or a failed search. It was an easy search, but after seeing how well the ring was hidden, I doubt that it would have been recovered without a metal detector..imageimage

Lost platinum ring found

My little sorex pro is definitely my workhorse detector.
A couple called me this morning after the husband lost his wedding ring while lobbing a rugby ball about in a campsite. The problem was time, as later that day a whole crowd of triathletes would be descending on the site to camp for the nignt.
After a fair few bottle caps and about £8 in coins I located the ring, it was quite a hefty ring that was made from a lump of platinum supplied by the husband which his jeweller aunt turned into a ring for him. Very pleased to make them smile.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Turtle Bay North Shore…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

Keith shaka
Keith TBay ring
This ring find began Tuesday 24 May when I was called by Keith from Sulphur, Louisiana. While on his honeymoon in the water at Turtle Bay lagoon in chest deep water his gold wedding band fell off. He knew where it fell and he tried to find it by snorkeling. As with many other places on Oahu the fine white sand consumed the ring from sight. I searched for over an hour and a half only finding a dime & a rivet. The tide was bringing the surf in so I had to abandon my search. I assumed some metal detectorist had found it. Turtle Bay is detected quite heavily because so many tourists lose jewelry in the water there. I put a post on my Facebook page in hopes someone would come forward with Keith’s ring. It was inscribed 14K CLASSIC. This ring had tremendous sentimental value as it came from Keith’s Grandpa. I notified my fellow detectorist Mike who is very adept with the Surf PI Dual Field. If for some reason Keith’s ring was just buried too deep for the Excalibur Mike is my go to guy for deep targets. Mike had detected Turtle Bay the previous weekend and said it was fairly sterile. So on Saturday while eating lunch with an old Navy buddy Mike called and said he found the ring. He decided to go back to Turtle Bay and give it a spin. I thank God he did. It so happened Mike found the ring further out and more to the left then Keith had thought he dropped it. I’m sure it was low tide and Keith didn’t realize how far out he really was. About 2 foot difference between high & low tide can be a big difference when hunting for rings. Had it been calmer and a low tide I might have found the ring myself. I met Mike near Pearl Harbor and he transferred the ring to me so I could get it back to Keith. I immediately took a photo when I got home and sent it to Keith. Within just a few minutes I got a text saying “That’s it I’m so appreciative” Ring finding teamwork is always great. Mahalo Mike for being such a committed and determined detectorist. We both send Aloha to Keith.
