As easy as a ring can disappear into the beach sand,It can also be easily found by a Metal detecting specialist.

I recently received a call from Eleanor who accidentally lost her engagement ring while vacationing at the beach in Carlsbad. She searched vigorously sifting through the sand with her fingers for over an hour to no avail.Fortunately, she was able to find me on The Ring Finders website and called right away. This was a short drive as I live nearby and I was successfully able to locate her precious ring just minutes after turning on my Metal detector equipment. Eleanor was very relieved I could help her out and could now finally enjoy her time in sunny San Diego.

FOUND…Ladies White Gold Wedding Ring Lost in Lake Mitchell, Clanton, Alabama!

I received a call from Greg and Jamie right before lunch time on Sunday, July 12th, 2020.  They explained that Jamie had lost her white gold wedding ring while swimming in Lake Mitchell on the 4th of July.  Jamie’s ring is normally a snug fit, but after swimming for a few hours making the ring slightly loose, her ring slid off and into the water after getting snagged in the back of their boat’s wooden platform while she was climbing out of the water.  Jamie watched in dismay as the ring fell and she tried her best to grab it before it sunk to the bottom, but to no avail.  Greg borrowed a mask and searched the lake bottom, but was unable to come up with her ring.  Jamie’s wedding ring was custom made by a friend and had huge sentimental value.  I could tell just how much it meant to her as she was unable to talk about her ring without getting emotional.  Greg ended up buying a Nokta Makro PulseDive Pinpointer and searched with SCUBA gear, but only found pull tabs and bottlecaps in the area that he was able to cover.  During a Google search, Greg’s sister found the blog I wrote about the ring recovery I did a few months earlier for a ring lost in a lake in Tuskegee, Alabama.

There was a large storm passing through Huntsville when they called me, but it was supposed to pass to the east.  Lake Mitchell is in Clanton, AL and about a 2.5 hour drive south of Huntsville, so the weather was clear down there.  Greg and Jamie asked if I would be willing to do a search and I told them I’d be more than happy to!  I could come out that Sunday or wait until the following weekend when I was off again from work.  Jamie preferred that I come as soon as possible as the lake was a public area.  I agreed and my husband, Lindell, and I gathered up our gear and were on our way within the hour.  We met up with Greg and Jamie and were on the water by 2:30pm.  The area the ring was lost was about a 10 minute boat ride from the marina.  We made it out there and I had just got in the water with my detector when we realized the storm took a turn south and was upon us.  We decided to take cover and wait out the storm.  Lindell and I were finally able to get in the water and conduct a search around 4pm.  We searched for about 3 hours, but only came up with the usual pull tabs, bottle caps, and fishing gear.  Jamie decided to call it as it was getting late.  She asked if I thought that her ring was gone forever.  I told her that if her ring was there (which she saw it fall off), it could definitely be found.  I just needed more time to complete a thorough grid search.  If you miss it by an inch, then you miss it by a mile.  We planned to do another search the following Saturday starting earlier in the day.

Lindell and I went back out to Lake Mitchell and met up with Jamie and Greg on Saturday, July 18th.  The ring was lost in about 3 feet of water, but there was a possibility that the water level had changed.  There was a permanent marker buoy there as our reference point.  The search area was now around 3-5 feet of water.  During the week I made marker buoys with dive weights to mark a 4 corner grid.  We set-up the grid and I got in the water with my Equinox 800 and long handled XTREME Sand Scoop.  I told Jamie not to be discouraged as the search may take a few hours to check all signals that came up in the white gold range.

Greg brought 2 SCUBA set-ups.  Greg and Lindell planned to conduct SCUBA searches.  I was unable to dive as I had a craniotomy to remove a benign meningioma about 7 weeks prior.  Greg helped Lindell get set-up and Lindell got in the water with our brand new Excalibur 2 about 10 minutes after me.  Lindell started on the opposite side from me (area we had not had time to search the week prior).  Greg was just getting in the water when Lindell came up to me.  Inconspicuously, Lindell showed me a ring.  It was Jamie’s lost wedding ring!!!  Lindell’s 4th target after 3 pull tabs was Jamie’s ring!  Lindell said he was going to surprise Jamie.  Lindell then went up and showed Greg.  Jamie hadn’t noticed, because she was trying to keep busy by walking around in the water.  We all remained calm.  Lindell went up to Jamie and had her scan his hand with the Excalibur.  She said his watch was setting off the detector, Lindell then opened up his hand and revealed her ring.  Jamie stood in shock for a moment, because she thought the search would take a while.  Once Jamie realized it was her ring, she was just overcome with emotion!  What a great feeling!!!  This is the best part of being a Ring Finder!  The second best is finding the ring.  Celebration hugs and high-fives followed.  We took a few pictures and took a few moments to let it all sink in.  Jamie’s ring is absolutely gorgeous!!!  I had never seen a ring like this before!  As always, I thanked the Lord for a safe and successful ring recovery!

Jamie and Greg are such a sweet and friendly couple!  They brought sandwiches and offered to take us around the lake on their boat for the rest of the afternoon.  We graciously accepted and had a blast!  Lake Mitchell is absolutely beautiful!  What a great day!!!

Gold Chain with charms recovered in Ocean Grove by Dennis Burlingame

I got home around 2:45 am from detecting and was checking my email before going to bed and up came a new one from Corey. During the day at the beach he got knocked over but a wave and felt his necklace slide over his head into the ocean. He tried grabbing for it but with no luck, even searched during the day at low tide hoping he’d see it. The chain had a very special charm on it that was his grandfathers, being upset about loosing it he was up late searching google with hopes of finding some answer to finding it. There he found me on RingFinders. Still being up I called him and got the information about what happened and was going to meet him later in the morning. I called a fellow Ringfinder to tell him about it and he said I should go now with the water still low enough to work. I called Corey back and asked if he’d meet me now and he said yes.  Luckily he left a shirt on the beach as a marker in the area he was in and it narrowed the search area down. About 20 minutes or so in waist deep water getting pushed by waves I got a good signal, took me a bit to dig it,the waves would push me off of it but I finally saw his necklace in my scoop. I was kinda mean because I held it in my hand and started out of the water after I got hit by a wave shaking my head saying the waves were to rough but when I got to him I said not rough enough to find it and held it out to him. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He had his grandfathers charm and chain back. Sorry bout the dark pictures but it was 4 o’clock in the morning. Glad to give back, felt great.

Lost wedding band recovered in Door County lake

  • from Green Bay (Wisconsin, United States)

June 27th,  I was called up to a Door County cottage to find a ring that was lost the previous weekend. It was next to the dock on the “fishing” end of the lake, which means muck and weeds! It took me 90 minutes of probing with a small coil on the Minelab Equinox 800 and a Vibraprobe, but after being misled by a few really old beer cans that were opened with a can opener and a few bottle caps and pop tabs, I finally teased it out of 18″ of muck. I also looked at the far end of the dock for a gold watch that was lost years ago, but the silt was shoulder deep, so all I got was a beauty treatment, if that is what muck in your hair does. The water felt good, though. It was nice to get Chris’s 14k gold wedding band back on his finger where it belongs.

Lost wedding ring in swimming pool, Longwood, Fl….Found and Returned to owner!

Shawn and her husband are planning to move to another house and before they say good bye to their home in Longwood they desperately want to find his wedding ring which slipped off of his finger while swimming in the pool. Apparently the “pool guy” had not been doing his job very well and the water had turned a chalky white and visibility was only a foot or two. And neither Shawn nor her husband could hold their breath long enough to search the deeper part of the pool with their goggles.

Since they were going to be moving out in a few days they were getting very anxious about not being able to find the custom made lost wedding ring and that led them to do an online search for someone to help them. Theringfinders.com came up and after reading a few of my successful recovery stories Shawn decided to give me a call. (You see, most of my requests to find lost items are usually to search in yards, parks, beaches, lakes and places like that and the saying “Like shooting fish in a barrel” came to mind! But of coarse every search I have been on there is always some sort of challenge involved and many times it ends up being more difficult than first imagined.)

So that same day I was able to meet Shawn and as I surveyed the pool I settled on using my scuba tank and 50 foot Gator Gill hose along with my mask, fins, weight belt and flashlight. I entered the pool and slowly sank to the bottom making my way along one side while shinning my light along the bottom hoping to catch a glimpse of gold. I swam to the deep end and there were leaves and debris on the bottom and I carefully went thru each pile trying not to stir everything up. Shawn said her husband’s ring was rather wide so there was no fear that it could slide down the slits in the drain. I slowly circled the drain making my way in wider circles and BINGO!, there was the lost custom made ring just sitting there waiting to be found! I surfaced and made my way to the shallow end and began to shine my light into the house and Shawn came out–all excited and all smiles!

I thank God for allowing me to be a help to this young couple and now their story can continue and they do not have to worry about leaving their wedding ring behind!

Lost Diamond Ring Aquia Landing, Virginia…found!

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Rob Ellis: Ring Recovery Specialist Underwater and on land …Lost Ring?… Call or text 703-598-1435.

On Saturday, Esmeralda and Rey were playing with friends in the water. When Esmeralda reached to catch a ball, her beautiful 10th anniversary diamond ring flew off her finger. They searched for hours to no avail. The next morning, Esmeralda emailed me for help.

Metal detecting for artifacts in the area is unlawful. So, I contacted the Stafford County Government to get permission for the search. Even though it was Sunday, I was able to reach Brett. He was very understanding and told me it was no problem as long as I was only looking for the ring.

Beach before Crowds

I met Rey at the beach and he showed me where they thought the ring landed. The water was about waist deep and there were many families enjoying the shallows. Since the spot was crowded, it took more time than anticipated. I forgot all that when I found the ring in the scoop. I am so happy to have helped a couple of patriots like Rey and Esmeralda!!!

Ring!

Rey Smile!

Rey and Esmeralda were so kind to post the story on their local Facebook news. I have already been contacted by people who saw their post! I also appreciate their generous reward, a portion of which was donated to the Fisher House Foundation https://fisherhouse.org/.

I was happy to retrieve trash during my search. As you can see in the photo, I removed jagged metal and glass just waiting to cut some unsuspecting swimmer’s foot.

If you lost your ring in the sand call  “Stan the Metal Detector Man” available now … 949-500-2136

***  After weeks of beach closures Ali’s family organized a family beach party at San Onofre State Beach, San Clemente  CA. While there Ali’s white gold diamond wedding ring set slipped off her finger into dry sand. Six or eight of their party attempted to find the rings. They did find the main ring but the enhancement ring could not be found.

Ali’s mother, Ester got into internet search mode, looking for metal detector services. She contacted a member of TheRingFinders who referred me to her. I left right away and was at San Onofre State Beach in a little more than a half hour. The beach had a limited entry quota and I got in a huge lineup up of surfer’s cars waiting their turn to enter the beach. ( possibly a 2 hour wait)

Ester saved the day by arranging with park officials to pick me up at the gate with her vehicle, saving a long waiting time. I loaded up my detector and scoop and we were at the location of the loss within minutes. Ali explained what happened and her husband Max told me it was a silver ring (wrong). It turned out to be white gold after I found it with less than a dozen swings of my detector search coil. The whole family group witnessed the quick recovery. They were amazed at how easy it was to find the ring after so many of them tried to search the small spot where the rings were dropped.

Ali and Max were excited and grateful to have their wedding rings back where they belong. The real hero was Ester , Ali’s mother, who found my contact information calling me and arranging for my entry passed the long line of surfers waiting to get into the crowded beach.

Wedding Ring Lost Two Years Ago, FOUND, in Quarryville, PA

  • from Reading (Pennsylvania, United States)

I was contacted by Patrick staying he had lost his titanium wedding band two years ago while mowing his yard. He took his ring off and sat it on the tractor while washing his hands. After he began to mow again, he realized what he had done and the ring had fallen off somewhere in the yard. He would occasionally search for it using a cheap metal detector but with no luck. He decided after two years he would see if anyone searched professionally. He found “The Ring Finders” and immediately called me. I met Patrick at his home and he showed me where he thought it fell off his tractor.  After about 30 min of searching with my Garrett ATPro, I was able to happily return his wedding band to him. I found the ring about 2 inches in the ground and although dirty had no damage to it.

Lost Diamond Ring Portsmouth, RI… Found!

  • from Stonington (Connecticut, United States)

“I was heartbroken… the ring could be replaced, but I also knew I would always know that my first ring, the ring that got Greg down on his knee, the ring that united us at the alter, the ring that…”

A Facebook message brought me to Portsmouth, Rhode Island, in search of a lost diamond ring. Sometimes the heartbroken ring owner knows where they lost their ring, and sometimes, they don’t. This was a situation where the ring could have been in multiple places. Kate first realized the ring was missing after pulling her hand from the chilly water while picking up a rock for her young son. This area is the best place to start because the cool water causes fingers to restrict, allowing the ring to slip right off. This particular beach was mostly golf ball size cobblestone with a few runoff channels holding more delicate pebbles and sand. Understanding how the moves things around and knowing the ring was lost only two days prior should have left the ring in plain sight. After combing the area a few times, I started to think the ring wasn’t further up on the beach closer to the entrance. Until I heard Kate and her friend talking about this particular seashell, she remembered her son picking it up. I beelined for that area, and the very first signal I heard revealed a glimmer of gold. Find found! The fine sand had almost completely buried the ring! Can you see the ring in this photo?

Rarely passing the opportunity for a good surprise, I left the ring undisturbed in the sand and stones. With my heart pumping and fumbling with my phone camera for what seemed like ten minutes, I called Kate over to confirm the seashell she mentioned earlier. After looking down for a moment, Kate yelled out, “oh my god, there it is.” Everybody in the neighborhood knew Kate found her lost ring!

“I highly recommend Keith and his services. He is professional, easy to communicate with, empathetic, and takes a genuine caring – most importantly – he found my wedding ring within 30 minutes…”
