Dan was out for a day of snowshoeing at Crystal Mountains Telemark area, during the event four kilometres from the parking lot he made a fall in the snow. After regaining his composure he realized that his 14k white gold wedding band had gone missing, he searched around with no success so he marked the area intending to return. The next day he looked up Ringfinders and contacted me for assistance, once at the location it only took a few minutes to locate the ring 3 inches deep in the snow.

Found…100 Year Old Prescription Glasses

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)
100 Years Old

100 Years Old

Most of the time I’d get called out to search for a lost ring, but on this day ,on my own time, I went to English Bay Beach just after the Polar Bear Swim to search the low tide…January 1, 2013.

On this nice but cold evening when the tide went out it exposed many pairs of prescription glasses, in total 15 pairs were found that evening. One in particular was a pair of spectacles that I found buried completely in the sand. Because of the amount of  prescription glasses that were being found I took my time digging this signal, as I reached into the hole I pulled out  a cool looking pair of spectacles. I have to say my first thought was ”Harry Potter”… I carefully wrapped it up in a cloth and put it in a safe pocket and resume my hunting.

When I got home that evening I posted on craigslist that I found prescription glasses along with a few other things I found at the Polar Bear Swim at English Bay Beach. I only received one reply from someone asking about a pair of Ray-Ban glasses (Aviators) but I did not find those, it took almost 3 weeks before I got a reply from a young man asking if I found a pair spectacles.

I took a picture with my iPhone and sent him the photo of the glasses and I received an email immediately… Those are the ones!!!

I have to admit it’s the first time I experienced how much it meant to to that person to have their prescription glasses found. I didn’t realize what the story was that came with the glasses until I talk with him. You see these were not ordinary prescription glasses, these glasses were from his great grandfather, over 100 years old! How can you ever replace a family heirloom like that? That’s why I love what I do! I love helping people and given them a second chance to find what they thought was lost forever!

Here’s what he put on The Ring Finders Face Book page…

“Thanks to Chris Turner and The Ring Finders recovered my Norwegian great grandfathers old pair of glasses that I lost during this years Polar Bear Swim in Vancouver, BC. Chris found them the same day and posted them under the lost and found section on Craigslist. And although it took me 20 days to even think that someone would be kind enough to put it on Craigslist, Chris convinced me that there still is some good in this world. These 100 year old glasses gets to continue their story and continue being a family heirloom.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Lost Ring found in the Okanagan Snow

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

The horses water trough was frozen over, so Paul used his bare hands to remove the ice from the trough. After the ice was all removed and Paul was back in the warm house, he noticed that his 14k yellow gold wedding band was missing. He went back to the trough area and did a visual search, with no  luck. He went back indoors and googled the RingFinders, after contacting me, I told him I would be out the next morning with my metal detector to search for it.  It was a cold day with ice all around the trough area of the barn. Paul told me he shook his hands when they were cold and wet, so I did a search around the perimeter of the trough. Luckily it was soon found in the snowy area. Another happy customer.

Lost Woman’s Diamond Engagement Ring in Lancaster, OH “FOUND”.

  • from Newark (Ohio, United States)
Contact:

I received a call from a guy on New Years Day about a lost White Gold and Diamond Engagement Ring. The ring was lost in the snow during the night before. I showed up a couple of hours later to search for the missing engagement ring. After asking more questions, I found out that the ring was thrown. I searched in the freezing temperatures in 3 inches of snow for a hour and a half with no luck.

A week later he wanted me to come back out and try again. Since the snow was mostly gone and more grass was visible. About a hour later of searching there was the ring laying on the grass beside the melting snow. I am very happy that the ring was found. He recently bought the ring for her and I wish them a happy engagement.

He always talked about his original ring.  She wanted to try to get his ring back for their wedding anniversary in a couple of months. After searching the non sun barring with frost on the grass for an hour using a grid search I found the ring. I showed her the ring and she was very surprised and happy that I found his ring.

LOST 14K GOLD RING RECOVERED IN RALEIGH, N.C. ON 12/9/2012

  • from Hillsborough (North Carolina, United States)
Contact:

On the afternoon of 12/9/2012 I recieved a phone call from a gentleman by the name of ( Mr. Joe D ). who explained that his father, ( Mr. Tom D. ) lost a 14K gold ring while working in his yard a week earlier.. After speakin with ( Mr. Joe D.)  , I then called his father , ( Mr. Tom D. ) to speak to him and he explained the story of losing the ring as well.. I then agreed to meet them about a hour later and when I got there, I had ( Mr. Tom D. ) walk me through what he was doing when he lost his ring.. He explained that he had searched for it with no luck and even had the neighbor help.. He told me that it could be in one of the many bags of rakings or around the bushes which is where he was when he lost it.. Rather than go through all the bags and dump out all the leaves etc which would be alot more work to clean them up again, I got out my Long Range Metal Detector / Electroscope and proceded to scope the area around the Bushes where he was when he lost the ring.. Instantly I was able lock onto a target by the bushes where he was working using my Long Range Metal Detector and in under ten minutes I was able to recover his lost ring for him.. I am so glad I was able to help him.. I hope they have a Merry Christmas and wish them a very Happy Holidays.. In the pictures you with see the ring and me holding my long range metal detector standing beside Mr. Tom D.
