LOST 14K and TANTALUM WEDDING RING LOST NEAR ROCK HILL, SC……. FOUND!!!

Got a call from a young man near Rock Hill, SC. He stated he had lost his ring while playing with his dog. Like I stated earlier it was an almost 3 hour drive one way. I texted him that I was on my way and that I should get their by 6-6:15 pm. I arrive and got the details from him. After about 45 mins and 5 yards later. I saw it after my coil swung over it and didn’t go off. I was like “WHY DIDN’T I HEAR ANYTHING?” After un-notching 65-85 VDI range. I figured out why! Tantalum is a HIGH TONE! Not a LOW or MID TONE. In fact it sounds like a copper penny or a dime. VDI 81/82 range.

Long Branch NJ Lost Wedding Ring in the sand recovered by Edward Trapper NJ Ring Finder September 2022

Anthony was at the beach in Long Branch NJ with his family. His wedding ring slipped off into the surf when his daughter was pulling on his fingers, while they were playing in the waves. He marked the location on his phone, and took some pictures of the exact spot their blanket was in. I went there and began the hunt, in little time I had the ring in my scoop. The waves had moved it about 10 yards from the location he gave me. I am mailing it back and he will forward some smiling pics when he is reunited with the ring. Found Wallet on Vancouver Street

I was driving to Spanish banks to look for a child’s two lost retainers on the beach and on my way I noticed something on the roadway that caught my eye. I pulled over right away and ran back and found a Coach wallet/ hand purse. It’s amazing to think that was in the middle of the road in a high traffic area and no one saw it. I went back to my car opened up the wallet and it was full of ID and credit cards, my first thought was this poor lady must be freaking out right now.  I saw a Washington state drivers license so I thought to myself this is going to be hard to find this person!

This isn’t the first time I found a wallet in the middle of a busy road and the last one the man put it on his car while he was pumping gas and forgot it was there, I kinda felt the same thing happened with this lady, she must’ve put it on her vehicle and drove away.

In the past I have lost my wallet a few times, one time with a lot of money and I never saw it again, so he/she must’ve needed it more than me. I noticed this lady was a practising lawyer in Vancouver and I reached out to a contact number that was found in her wallet, I left my contact info.

After meeting the lady at Spanish Banks in regards to the lost retainers and my unsuccessful search, I went back to my car and checked out the wallet I found. To my surprise I found a BC drivers license with an address, it was less than a mile from where I found the wallet. I drove to the address and knocked on the door and a lady greeted me and saw what I was holding and right away she told me that her daughter had lost her wallet and was on the phone with the bank…

I met her daughter and she told me the story that as she was putting her son into the car seat she had put the wallet on her vehicle and forgot, she also said how tired she had been from a lack of sleep raising her newborn, very much understandable!!

You can imagine her relief as I’m sure it would have taken a lot of time to get all that replaced…

Beautiful Wedding Ring Recovered from Lake at Andalusia Ala

I got a call from Kelli about noon on Wednesday asking if I could find her wedding ring. She and her husband had been married for nine months and the ring was designed by her husband and custom made. She first called my son in law, David Cartee, who wasn’t able to help because of other obligations that day but he recommended She give me a call. Kelli’s ring was lost in a lake off a dock in Andalusia Alabama. It had been a couple day since she lost it. She got in the water up to about neck deep and tried doing a visual search but the bottom was muddy and she had no luck. Listening to her story I felt sure the ring had sunk out of sight in the mud. I told her I would help. I was in the Pensacola area at the time and Andalusia was about 2 hours away. I felt time was of the essence because I didn’t know that lake and fearing the ring might settle deeper in the muddy bottom over time. The lake turned out to be a reservoir used by the power company to generate electricity and the bank was very steep. When I saw how quickly the grade dropped off I began to worry about it having vanished in the deep water or my recovery activity dislodging it to deeper water. It was most important to plan carefully so that would not happen. I took my time making sure the search coil didn’t touch the bottom and to carefully completely search the area before moving my feet to deeper water. Fortunately I got a good signal, the ring had settled on a slope in about 5 foot of water. I set my recovery scoop and both husband and wife stood by in anticipation. I peered into the scoop then looked up at them and smiled, her beautiful precious ring was recovered and returned to her finger. Smiling faces and no more worries all around!

Lost Ring during wasp attack, returned with a Metal Detector

Thomas got out of his cab at the Kelowna hotel, only to be swarmed by wasps. In the process of waving his hands at them he lost his wedding ring, a group of people searched for it in the grass, to no avail. He called me and I responded within 15 minutes, he showed me the location by the tree with the wasps. I did a grid of the grass that was full of old construction metal. Being on the surface the ring was a good target, and within 10 minutes the ring was back on his finger. The ring belonged to his father, and he had it resized for his own wedding, it was very sentimental to him.

Grandmothers Ring slides into Cedar Creek Lake, Tx

We got a call from a mom who was so upset, her daughter had been at a Labor Day Swim party at Cedar Creek Lake, and the group of teenagers decided to take a midnight swim.  While sitting on the swim platform of the ski boat tied off at the dock.  A boy reached up and grabbed her hand and pulled her into the water.  As Alina was going under she her grandmother’s ring slid off.  She screamed and all of her friends tried searching for the ring. The water was about 5 feet deep with ZERO Visibility.

She then had to call her mother in tears and tell her that Grandma’s ring was gone.

I fully believe that Mom was more upset than the daughter.  Mom calls us and we set a time to come out to the lake 4 days after the loss.  The drive was 2 hours, but the subdivision was beautiful and the water was like glass… BUT BUT BUT the dock was a single dock that pitchforked out into 4 more docks and the daughter was not completely sure which dock they had been swimming on since it was dark.

I began my search using my ATPro, and water scoop.  The bottoms were 18inches of mush, like wet mash potatoes.  I began clearing all the normal junk.  Soda & Beer cans, nails, and junk.  After 4 hours of going over and over and increasing my search grid area with every pass.  I was about to call it quits, the mom had come over and said she understood I had gone above and beyond in my search and understood if I need to call it.

I said I wanted to do one more pass, I had one signal that was funky and I just wanted to pull it out to be sure I would have no regrets in my search.  I made my last scoop and nearly could not lift the 30 pounds of muck, had to use my hand to squish the much through my fingers and suddenly I saw the glint of a ring.

I called the daughter and the mom over and had them explain one more time what happened and then I said… “I have a question for you ….. “Does it look like this?”  And screams and tears began to flow… mom and daughter hugged and cried tears of joy.

Diamond wedding band found Lancaster Ontario

Today’s travel took me to Lancaster Ontario, where I had the pleasure of meeting Christopher and Nicole. They had rented a beautiful property, over a week ago, for their wedding and family vacation. Unfortunately, while the whole family was swimming, Christopher felt his new Diamond gold/tantalum ring slide off his finger while playing with the kids. The good part was that he was fairly certain where about the ring fell off. The bad part, it was in in about 8 feet of water with silt and weed bottom. They contacted their local Scuba club and a diver came out, on two occasion, with an underwater metal detector but had no luck finding the ring.

This is where I come in. At first, and keep in mind that you have ZERO visibility due to murky water but especially due to the silt being disturbed, I found a few targets (beer bottle cap, fishing lure, lead weights) with the Excalibur II metal detector, then using my pin pointer (mini detector) to narrow down the exact area, you “feel” each and every targets with your finger tips, mixed in with silt and other debris, to identify those items. About forty minutes into the dive, I heard this great signal and, using the technique described above, I finally felt his beautiful ring between my fingers. Once I surfaced, I was able to visually confirm it was his ring and the rest is history. Definitely ranks up there in level of difficulty but the outcome sure was worth it. Another happy ending.

Platinum in Pacifica

It was on Day 10 of me having Covid that I received a call to help this couple find the husband’s wedding ring. Despite having cabin fever, I tried passing the call off to my buddy Brendon, but he was at a friend’s BBQ so I took a home Covid test, saw that I was FINALLY testing negative, and decided to take a shot at finding this ring.
The owner had been out on the beach with his dog and the ring slipped off as he tried to distract the dog from the washed-up dead bird just a few feet away.

I found the ring pretty quickly, which is good because I was still fighting the Covid-related exhaustion. It felt great to be out of the house, in the fresh air, and to be able to return the ring to it’s owner. His wife was definitely happy. He was one of those guys that doesn’t show a lot of emotion, though he was surprised at where I found it and how deep.

Ring lost in Mission Bay Found

Brandon was playing volleyball in waist deep water, when his ring flew off his finger while hitting the ball. Everyone searched the area by feel and with mask and snorkeling gear, but, it had disappeared.  This ring was his Dad’s wedding ring (a large silver claddagh designed one) and was passed down to Brandon when his Dad passed away. An online search brought up TheRingFinders.com website and my contact info. The tide was still rising a bit when I got the call, so, since they were going to stay at the site for a while anyway, I told them I’d come a bit later when the tide was falling. I arrived just before dark and met everyone at their campsite on the beach. After getting the dimensions of the search area, I got to work gridding the bay bottom from the shore out to about waist deep water. A few pieces of junk came to light along with a coin or two, but, no ring. I decided to finish gridding the area by going the other way, so, I went out to waist deep water, working parallel to the shore, and working my way toward the beach. On my second pass, I got a rocking 31 signal on my Equinox and pulled up a big silver ring. It that point, I didn’t have a detailed description of the ring, and this ring was different than any of the other claddagh rings I  have found in the past, so, I continued on a bit so I wouldn’t lose my spot in my grid pattern. Once I got a bit closer to shore with the sunlight fading, I walked over to the group and announced that I found a big ring and needed a more detailed description of the one lost. Well, it was a spot on match to the one I found! Brandon was supper happy, and everyone else around their campsite and neighboring sites cheered when the word got out. A pleasure meeting you folks, and thank you for the reward.

Lost Wallet with Credit Cards and Drivers License Returned, Cape Cod,Harwich, Yarmouth, Hyannis,Falmouth,

While out in the waters of Cape Cod, I found a wallet that was a surprise to see in my scoop. It had a metal card to Apple inside. A license, and many credit cards. When Rick and I got home, the very first thing we did, was to check for a match on Facebook. It triggered a fast response from Beth, the owner, as I talked with her about how, when, and where she lost her wallet, I knew I had to get it back ASAP. We asked if she was still on Cape Cod, she replied no, that she had gone home last week.

This is her statement about how she thinks it was lost.As we got out of the car we entered the beach area and made a hard right. We kept walking till we saw a sign saying Private Beach Area. We turned around, I was picking up seashells along the way close to the waters edge. When we got back to the beach where we entered, we made the obligatory Sun Appreciation spot halfway up on the dunes. I changed out of my shorts, that I thought had my wallet. We were there about 45 minutes, packed up,and walked to the jetty and then back to the car. My wallet must have fell out of my pocket as I reached for the shells. It was very windy, and the waves crashing didn’t help. We never heard it fall.We searched high and low multiple times for the next day or so. Car,Beach,Path, Sand, Nothing.
