Lost wedding ring, Flagler Beach, Florida…..Found!

Tiger gave me a call after loosing his wedding ring in the sand at the beach. He could hardly believe that his ring just fell off of his finger so easy like! It all happened the day before as he and a friend were throwing the football just along the waters edge. As he went to catch the football, apparently the point of the ball hit him right on his ring finger and the impact knocked his ring right off into the sand. It all happened so fast that he did not see the exact direction his ring went flying, but he had the presence of mind to stop and take note of a few land marks. (That quick thinking would be a huge help to him in the end.) He searched the area as best as he could and even contemplated renting a metal detector but as he typed into Google…Flagler Beach metal detector rental…up came one of theringfinders stories about a recent successful lost ring search. So Tiger figured what better way to go, then to hire someone who has the equipment and experience to help him find his lost ring. Two hours later we met on the beach and Tiger showed me the small area where he was standing when he lost his wedding ring. I set out four corner flags and searched the small area anxiously awaiting that sweet, familiar signal. My first signal was a crusty penny and that got Tiger and his wife’s hearts racing! Nothing else showed up in the marked off area so I made a pass around the outside and there in the wet sand, with the water washing over my scoop, was Tiger’s lost ring. I quietly thanked God for helping me find their precious ring and could not help but smile to see the joy and happiness on their faces. Wedding Ring Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found and Returned

I got a call today from Jeanette this afternoon regarding her husband John’s wedding ring. He had been applying sunscreen, and stood up, shook his hand, and felt his ring slip off of his finger. The sand was real dry and soft, which made the ring disappear before he could see it’s trajectory. They searched, but the sands had it in their grip, and were not letting go. I told her I would be there as soon as I could. We have had some pretty warm weather lately so I knew traffic and parking near the beach would be difficult.

When I got there I had to park 1/2 a mile away, so I broke out my Segway Mini Pro to get me to the location with little effort. When I met them they showed me what had happened, and I began my search. It took a couple of minutes before I received the right signal, put in my scoop, and missed it the first time. The second scoop went in, and there was John’s ring. It had flown behind him a few more feet than he had thought, which happens all the time. That is why we have to think and work out of the box, or draw outside of the lines so to speak. It was great to have been a help today.

Platinum and Gold Wedding Ring Lost at Malibu Beach, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

I was on my way back from my morning search in Mission Viejo on Thursday, when I received a call from Elizabeth. Her husband Michael had been at the beach near their house playing with a local dog who was frolicking in the surf. Michael was at the water line when he moved his hand towards the water, and in an instant his ring flew off of his hand and was gone. He searched with futility for his ring that had been swallowed up by the ocean sands. Elizabeth found me on the Internet, and gave me a call. I asked my questions, and found out the loss had just happened in the last half hour, so I knew odds were very good for a successful recovery. We arranged to meet as soon as I could get to their place.

When I got there I met them both, and then Michael jumped in my truck, and off we went to the area of the loss. When we got there Michael showed me where he had set his land marks, and then showed me what he had done to cause the loss. I began right where he had showed me. I turned my detector on, and got some noise while I was passing through the water. Thinking I needed to ground balance to the salt water because of minerals I did so. When I swung again, the same tone, I dug, and in my scoop was his ring. Michael had put me right on top of his ring. I asked him what color it should be, he looked in the scoop and with surprise, and great joy agreed that I had found it. I took him back to his house when Elizabeth came out and gave me a big hug, and a tub of great vegetable soup that I ate when I got home. It was then I found out they had just gotten married 5 days earlier! What a great day!

Diamond Wedding Ring Lost in Mission Viejo, CA…Found and Returned.

I received a call from Anna last Wednesday for a lost diamond wedding ring. When I spoke to her, I asked the most important questions, and when done it was decided that the ring should be in the yard where she had been sitting with her husband. She had given the ring to her husband while they were visiting her cousin. When the day was done, she asked her husband for the ring, and it was gone. I arranged to meet the next morning to do a good thorough search.

When I got to the house, Anna’s cousin showed me the area which was a pretty good patch of grass which could hide a ring easily. I proceeded to search, and searched the whole area only finding some bottle caps. I went and got another detector with a better recovery, and searched it again, nothing. I knew the ring was not in that yard. Anna’s cousin had left for work, and Anna’s God Daughter stayed with me, also named Anna. I spoke to young Anna, and explained that there was no way the ring was in that yard, and that we should back track every where they had been the other day. She showed me a patch of grass that led to the pool, which seemed like a good search. I began my search there, and had it almost complete, when Anna’s God Daughter came running up saying she found it! There in her hand was a beautiful 3 diamond ring. She had taken my advice to retrace their steps, and while I was searching the grass, she went to where they had been parked 3 days earlier, and there on the asphalt under a car was Anna’s ring. Amazing! Sometimes we can help by just thinking things through for people. I have helped people find their rings just by talking them through the loss, and it ends in the same way, joy for the person who thought that what they had lost for good was found again.

RING LOST AT GYRO BEACH, OKANAGAN LAKE KELOWNA, RETURNED.

Charlie was having a great day on the beach with most of his family. On July 8th in Kelowna the temperature was in the high 30`s so the lake was a good place to cool off. Unfortunately for Charlie his 14k wedding ring came off in the water, the whole family searched for it with no success. Charle`s uncle found me on The Ringfinders website and called me, I responded within the hour and his family were still in the water. Its difficult to pinpoint the location but they were close and within 30 minutes I had the ring in my scoop, much to the delight of all the onlookers. It was hugs and kisses from the family and a big smile from Charlie and his wife.

Cape Cod: Lost Ring Found, with a little help from a friend.

It is great to have a helpful and concerned friend in time of need. That is just what Greg was for Sam. Greg posted signs around the beach. At home he reached out to TheRingFinders for help in finding Sam’s wedding band; that is where I came in. Just hours after Sam’s wedding band had slipped from his finger into the crystal clear water and under the soft white sand Greg and I were exchanging pictures of the area of loss were exchanged and set a time to meet the next day.

Sam met Jim (my summer time detecting comrade) and myself just after sunrise, lead us down a one-way dirt road to a 3 car public parking area were we geared up and took a hike to the lake. After Sam answered a few questions about the loss, Jim and I headed out to the area believed to be where the ring had slipped from Sam’s finger.

I had dug three coins and then a ring. It was not as I had envisioned it and called back to Sam…“is it a square ring?” To which Sam asked “what do you mean?” “Well, not round” I called back. The resounding YES was probably be heard all over the lake. Jim looked puzzled and on my way back to shore I let Jim have a peek at the ring in my scoop. When I got back to shore Sam had the enjoyment of retrieving his ring from my scoop and placing it back where it belonged, on his finger. Time elapse…three minutes. The pictures tell it all!

Cleaning up roofing nails

Jane & Ellen

My lovely neighbors Jane & Ellen, (and their four footed owners Agi and Riley),had their roof replaced. Although the crew did a careful clean-up, my friends were concerned about missed roofing nails which could hurt the always active, Agi & Riley. I swept through the yard, trying my best to ignore any deeper signals. I spent a couple of hours and found about 40 nails and staples, bits of wire, a drill bit, and some trash. Although I tried to ignore the deeper targets, I couldn’t help it, and I dug a couple of clad coins from 5 or 6 inches down. As you can see in the photo, one of the nails has a square cap. I found that one in the back yard by a swinging bench. Not only was it pretty far from the roof, it was sticking straight up on packed mulch. Anyone (human or dog) who stepped on that would have noticed! I am so happy Jane and Ellen asked me to do this for them. Before, it hadn’t occurred to me that this would be a useful service. Everyone was very appreciative. I even got a thank you card from Agi & Riley!

Lost Ring While Washing Dog in Westerly, RI… Found!

A woman recently contacted me to discuss a ring she lost while playing with her dog in Westerly, RI. The last memory of her lost ring was from Father’s Day earlier in the week.

Once I arrived, we began walking around the yard, discussing the number of places she could have lost the ring while playing fetch and bathing her dog. The ring search started at the hose where she washed the family dog. Just as I finished searching the grassy area where the dog was getting bathed, the ring owner asked me to check the bushes where the hose connected to the house. An immediate signal rang through the metal detector just under one of the bushes. I brushed aside a few wood chips, and there it was! Another lost ring handed down from generation to generation was found and reunited with its owner!

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Kailua Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from David Sheldon our Maui Ring Finder at about 7PM. He got a call from Kristi on Kailua Beach whose husband Blake lost his Platinum Wedding Band in the sand on the beach. Blake & Kristie and their darling baby Natalie were vacationing from Newport Beach California. David relayed my number to Kristi who called immediately thereafter. Kristi asked if we could meet in the morning and I told her we shouldn’t take that chance because besides Waikiki, Kailua is heavily metal detected. I told her traffic should be light enough that I could be there in less than 40 minutes. She agreed and off I went. With Summer break still going on I made it over in around 25 minutes. I think that’s a record for me! Kailua Beach has a landmark Green grocery store and Kristi said turn in there then call and she would guide me to where they were on the beach. Like clock work I could see Blake waving his hand on the beach so I rolled down my window and he said to park and he would meet me there. I gathered my gear and we all walked down to the lifeguard shack area where Blake was drying himself after a swim when the towel snagged his ring and pulled it off into the sand. I could see that they had been raking the sand for the ring to no avail. Blake said they searched for at least 2 hours. I fired up the Excalibur and started my grid search. On the second leg “BAM” there was Blake’s ring in the scoop. I love clean beaches! Blake was so excited and relieved that I found the ring so fast. They were so appreciative and there were hugs all around. Aloha to Blake & Kristi. Also a big shout out to our fellow ring finder extraordinaire on Maui David Sheldon!

Palladium ring found Glen Ellyn Lake Park, Illinois

Gentleman and his family came to Glen Ellyn Lake Park to watch the cardboard post races on July 3rd.. While watching they moved to another location. The ring was in the cup holder of a chair. They were uncertain as to which location it came out or if it came out while going to the location.

I hunted the first location and thats where I found it. It came in at 11/22 on the CTX 3030. About a twenty minute hunt. Even the Park manager was surprised I found it. Needless to say I gave the manager my card for future loses.
