White & Yellow Gold Wedding Ring – Lost & Found Studland Beach

  • from Bournemouth (England, United Kingdom)
Contact:

Mr & Mrs Garry Glover from Binfield, Berkshire were holidaying on Studland Beach on another beautiful summers day.
Building sand castles with his daughter on the wet sand when Garry returned to his towel he noticed with horror that his wedding band had slipped off. He called the Ring Finders & I was lucky enough to be only half an hour away.
Within 5 minutes the CTX gave an almighty yelp indicating something big! After only one scoop laying at the bottom was his ring.
A very happy Garry was chuffed to bits to get it back and will make a donation very soon.download

Wedding ring recovered in Grand Rapids, Michigan

I got a call from Katina G. this morning asking me to find her ring that she had lost. The call was a message on my phone so after playing some phone tag with Tim G., her husband, we finally connected and he gave me the story. I met Tim and Katina tonight with their have 2 small children and a new born baby. Tim works at the site where the ring was lost in the front yard of the building. They had looked for it for a while with no luck so Katina went on to Google and found the ring finders and after reading some of my stories decided to give me a call. I had been moving for a friend all day and told her I would go out after 5PM. I talked to Tim and he gave me an address of the mailbox the ring was near and being familiar with the area I proceeded to the spot. I got out my detector and started to grid a grassy area along the street. It had rained and I saw a sewer along the curb and running water in the gutter. I was afraid that it may have fallen in the street and went down the sewer, just then I got a 52 reading on my Fisher F75 and under a clump of grass about a foot from the curb was her ring.

I called Tim and asked how we could meet and he happened to be going to a meeting with the family and would meet me at the spot where I found it. 20 minutes later I met Katina, Tim and the family giving them my card and taking some pictures we went on our way. What a beautiful couple and family, finding the ring for them and making them happy made me happy. An end to a great day.

Samsung S5 cellphone found at Holland State Park, Michigan

My detecting partner Dave B. and I were out today at Holland State Park detecting in both the water and the sand. It was a cloudy day and the rain had just stopped so the beach was empty of bathers. While I was in the water Dave started gridding an area in the sand and came across a Samsung S5 cellphone. The signal on his AT Pro indicated junk and he was not going to dig but dug anyway and about 4 inches down there was the phone. We continued to hunt for another hour or so and went back into Grand Rapids to find the owner. We stopped at a T mobile office as that was the service provider. Because of privacy matters they could not give us a name but told us the subscriber lives in Florida. They took my name and number and said the party would get in touch with me. About 2 hours after I got home I got a call from Anthony M. he ask “do you have my phone” and I told him the story and he said he was at the park Sunday and it fell out of his pocket and couldn’t find it in the sand. We agreed to meet him at his house tonight after he got out of work and exchange the phone.

Dave and myself met Anthony at his house  and he was very happy to get his phone back. He explained that his sister in Florida has the plan and he is on it, that cleared up the mystery of the Florida connection. We thought that maybe the person who lost the phone was vacationing at the State Park.

Here is a picture of Anthony and the phone.photo 1photo 2

Wedding Band Lost in Seal Beach, CA…Found.

I had just spent the morning metal detecting the beach, and was on my way home, but was going to do some shopping first. I had just entered Costco when my phone rang. Katelyn called and said she had lost her ring at the beach, and was unable to find it. Well I still had all of my equipment in the vehicle, and knew the beach was about 45 minutes away, and also knew that this beach is one that gets cleaned real good, so time once again was working against me. I told Katelyn I would be there as quickly as possible, and she said she would wait for me. I left my cart in the aisle and took off for the beach. When I got there she had cordoned off the area she thought the ring was lost in using towels, toys, baskets, and a wagon, which was a great help. I got ready, and began my search. I searched the whole area, and then we had to start moving the “fencing”. We moved everything, and no ring. Then we moved the wagon. I searched the area under the wagon, and then the area behind where it was parked, and that is when I heard the sweet tone of gold in my earphones. One scoop was all that was needed, and Katelyn had her ring back. What a joy to see her joy today. She told me she had taken it off when she was putting her hand in the sand, and then found it missing. She also said that she and her husband just celebrated their first wedding anniversary last month, so what a disappointment it was to lose the very symbol of that occasion. I am thankful I was able to help Katelyn today. Katelyn was referred to me by Stan Ross (fellow Ring Finder).

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard to help you find what you thought might never be found again. I search,  Beverly Hills, Hermosa Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Seal Beach, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Torrance, Venice Beach, and all parks, yards, gardens, and ponds (to 5 foot depths) in all of Orange County, all of Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.

Six Feet of water and a Muddy hay stack

I’ve worked hard in my career, I have dug post holes in 100 degree heat, I’ve cleaned up the foulest smelling liquid a human can produce, I’ve worked with people who hated life and loved making your life miserable. But floating in six feet of green murky water swinging a detector by the arm cup and trying to use a scoop without seeing where it was scooping has been the hardest job yet that I completely loved and would do for free for the rest of my life. I am 5’9” the spot where the ring went into the water was about 6’6”. So with the Excalibur fully extended and me holding on to the arm cup of the detector I searched for 2 hrs. I found a piece of a fishing reel, a cap off of a light bulb I think, a stinkin’ Lincoln, and most importantly Sky’s palladium wedding ring. First go at finding the ring only left me shivering and empty handed. But after the shivers went away and I got back in the water the next signal was the ring. Only problem was that I didn’t know that and I had to get it in the scoop. I had a strategy, though, I was setting the scoop in front of the coil and then scooping towards where I was floating. The third scoop was the ring and as I brought the scoop into view I saw the ring it was sticking out of the mud. I didn’t know for sure and after frantically swimming to shallower water I saw the ring in the bottom of the scoop. I looked up saw Sky looking at me so I gave him a thumbs up. I don’t think I have celebrated so hard since my kids were born. It was a needle in a muddy hay stack but by the grace of God and perseverance, a man named Sky has a story about how he got his lost ring back. Thank you for calling me Sky and thank you Chris for the directory that allows us to help people. It truly is the best job in the world like you say .

Metal Detecting for a Lost Wedding Band at Wreck Beach, Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I received a call the other day asking if I could help find a lost gold wedding band then I heard the words Wreck Beach…This is a famous nude beach and that’s OK but the tough thing about this beach is the hike up & down…I think it close to 490 steps from top to bottom…I’m waiting for knee surgery so this is the hardest beach for me to access…But that won’t stop me from helping someone!

I set a time to meet Juan at 5am to drive to the beach, when we got there the tide was going out and Juan showed me the area where he thought  the ring came off. I was excited to start the search and find his ring because I knew how important it was to him and the fact that he lost the ring on his 3rd anniversary…

I started my grid search and close to 4 hours later no ring…? Most times when I do a grid search and don’t find what I’m looking for it’s only because I’m not searching the right area.

I had to pack it up for the day because the tide was coming in and my knee was getting sore! I hate that feeling when you don’t find what you’re looking for to see the look of the face of the people you’re trying to help.  I would come back in a couple of days and do another search in a different area as  I knew his ring was out there some where… I know if I don’t find what I’m looking for it’s only because it’s not where the person thinks it should be.

I came back 2 days later and continued my grid search,  after 1 hour as the tide was going out I got a sweet signal and dug down about 8 inches and saw the beautiful white gold wedding band in my sand scoop!

It’s the greatest feeling when you see the ring in the scoop because you know how much happiness it will bring that person.

Longboat Key Florida Recovery

Matt came to Florida from Kentucky for an extended family vacation. He was married here and had not been in the gulf since he was married 3 years ago. On his first morning here, he walked out to the beach and began tossing a football with his brother-in-law. One pass was high and he jumped to catch it. His sunglasses started to fall off as he fell into the water so he reached to save them. He was successful in saving his sunglasses, but when he looked he saw that his wedding ring was missing. He contacted SRARC and Mike Miller responded. Five hours of hunting later out came the ring. Matt was overjoyed as well as his wife and they said Mike had just saved their vacation. Always fun to see their smiles.

Dog-gone Ring Recovered

Gina was on her back patio with her six month old puppy when she decided to do some yard work. She took her two rings off and laid them on the lounge chair to make sure she did not lose them.
She proceeded to work in the yard for a while. She then returned to the chair to get her rings but only one was there. After looking around she realized that the puppy must have pick up the ring and carried it off.
After a day of searching she found SRARC and called Tom Jones who happened to be about ten minutes away.
Tom arrived at the home and asked Gina to bring the puppy outside then proceeded to scan the coil of his detector around the dog to see if it possibly swallowed the ring. He got no signal from the dog then started to hunt the yard. The whole yard was hunted right up to the last 10 square feet where Tom hit on a platinum signal. He then looked down to see a shiny circle lying in the grass.
It turned out to be the platinum and diamond heirloom ring. The ring had been passed down from Gina’s late mother to her and she had hoped to pass it on to her own daughter one day.

Lake Braemar gives up a ring in Holly, Michigan

downsized_0805141102aGot a call Sunday from Roger R. telling me his niece, Kim C., lost her white gold diamond ring in the lake while throwing a basketball during a fun filled day  of festivities in the water. When you look at the picture below you will see that Roger and his wife Kathy have a swimming area designed for big, fun parties. My partner Dave B. and myself took the 2 1/2 hour drive to their house and got our wet suits on and entered the water on an overcast Monday and started our search. We got several hits on the way out to the basketball hoop that was set up to play water ball. Roger told us that he had searched with a snorkel for hours around the hoop and other places in the swim area only to give up and call me. Our target area was around the hoop and about 15 minutes into the search Dave B. pulled up the ring with his AT Pro. We continued to search while slowly walking up to the beach and asked Roger if he had some coffee we would like to give it a rest for a bit. In the meantime we gave him what we found. Dave B. handed him one at a time a dime, penny, a nickel, a quarter, another penny and Roger said “wow” there’s a lot of change out there. I then started the same thing with a handful of change and a needle and bottle cap. Roger, looking a little down with nothing to show other than change I said “Oh there is this too” and I put the ring in his hand and he was stunned. He could not believe we found it after all the searching he went through. We took some pictures and he sent them to his niece then we went up for that cup of coffee. After some great conversation with Roger, a retired special ed school teacher, we took a ride around the lake in his pontoon boat and then packed up and went home.

We stopped to eat on the way home and got a text while at the restaurant from Roger saying that Kim got the pictures and was so happy she said “she would do anything 4 you both”. The smiles, coffee, conversation, and a boat ride around the lake was reward enough. This service of theringfinders is the most rewarding job I have ever done in my 40 years of detecting. Thank you Chris Turner for your foresight with theringfinders.

Kim was not available for a picture so when I receive it I will edit this postIMG_20140806_154717_453-1Holly 006Holly 004
