Received a call to look for a ring in the back yard. Person had purchased a metal detector but was unable to locate the ring. I got there and most of the back yard had pavers, so I knew it couldn’t be there. I searched all the grass in his yard, nothing! I was informed that he heard it hit something. The neighbors garage was also close, so I checked the neighbors yard. No Luck. I had previously asked him to check the roof of his garage, so I knew it wasn’t there. I went back to the yard and very carefully LOOKED at the crevice between the sidewalk and the grass. BINGO! As a note, I have had several other hunts where the ring was in a crevice next to a sidewalk and always as a last spot to concentrate on is that space.

Lost Ring Found in Narragansett Rhode Island

I received a call from Dustin who was vacationing with his family in Narragansett.  While enjoying a day at the beach two days earlier, Dustin realized he had forgotten to take his wedding ring off, so he stashed it in their beach bag.  After returning from the beach, Dustin’s wife emptied the beach bag and shook out the sand in the backyard.  Later that day, Dustin asked his wife if she had his platinum wedding ring. This is when they realized that the ring was in the backyard or had fallen out at the beach. Dustin and his wife searched the grass but had no luck.  I searched the backyard and found the ring in about 10 minutes.  I held the ring up and asked them “how does it feel?”  They couldn’t believe the ring was found and how quickly. I’m so glad I was able to help this nice couple

Lost Engagement Ring found at Colt State Park Rhode Island

I received a call on Tuesday, July 20th, from a nice couple, Francesca and Sharon.  They had only recently got engaged, and Sharon lost her engagement ring, a lovely antique ring, a few days earlier.  They were at Colt State Park for a day of fun.  While swimming, Sharon’s ring fell off in the water.  They searched for the ring for a few days but couldn’t find it.  That’s when they decided to look for help on the internet and found my profile on  TheRingFinders website, I went to the park the same day they contacted me, but I couldn’t get out far enough into the water as it was high tide.  I met Francesca at the park three days later when it was low tide to continue the search.  After two hours of searching, I located the ring.  Francesca was amazed that the ring was found after being in the ocean for five days. She couldn’t wait to put the engagement ring back on Sharon’s hand.

How to find a lost Gold Ring in a Volleyball Court, Vancouver.

Got a text message the other night in regards to a Lost Ring in a volleyball court, this will be my third this year and so far I was two for two. I talk to the young man and asked him the questions I needed to know before I showed up, in regards to the search. He told me his friends searched for a long time into the dark and he bought a Metal Detector but still couldn’t find the ring.

We arrange to meet the next morning at 10 AM when the manager open the gate, even though he had bought a Metal Detector and his friends had search I knew my chances were great. After setting up my search I decided not to use my sand scoop in order to surprise him with the find, it took about 10 minutes and I found his beautiful white gold wedding band and I was able to surprise him.

Lost gold wedding ring found, Paw Paw Lake, Michigan

Lynn contacted me about her husband’s wedding ring that fell off his finger while cranking the wheel on the their boat lift. The ring had also been Lynn’s father’s ring, so it was extra sentimental them. We discussed a time frame yesterday and I went up there this afternoon to search. I brought an underwater tube-lens contraption (for viewing bottom/etc), the usual detector, backup detectors, scoops, pinpointers and also my scuba gear. The water visibility was as bad as I expected (murky/sediment), so the view tube was a no go. The pier and lift station was a maze of metal with large metal pads on the bottom. I opted to start with detector and scoop. Found a multitude of undesirable “trash” targets, cans, nuts, bolts, coins, pier post caps, etc, etc, but no ring. Obviously, the detector can’t “see” when near the metal frame parts, posts and pads. After an hour and a half with detector and scoop, I had to move to the anticipated Plan-B, scuba gear and pinointers, for working close to the framework. I used my fancy little gear cart to bring everything out to the dock site. After dawning the gear, I went to put the mask on and CRACK (the strap fixture broke). Not really wanting to dismount the gear and get repair stuff from the truck, I MacGyver’d the mask strap with a piece of wire I had just dug up and had in the floating sifter, worked perfect, back in business. I searched and searched with pinpointers, all around the metal structures and post pads, still no ring. I was getting worried now and wondering maybe it wasn’t in the water. I noticed the pier had metal supports under the slotted walkway with a channel big enough to catch a ring. I checked all the channels, no ring. Now I was thinking about the two frame parts, that I saw from above, that had holes big enough for a ring to fall into and no way to really check.Then I thought, maybe, maybe the the last place that ring could be was actually laying on one of the metal post pads, where the pinpointer nor metal detector would see it. I started moving the inch of sand/dirt/sediment off the pads and checking that with pinpointer. On the second pad, doing the same, I felt my finger tip go into what really felt like a ring. Bingo, that was it!

Lost Ring before Tropical Storm – FOUND!!!

Yesterday morning as we were all preparing for the possibility of Tropical Storm Fred getting closer to us, I got a call. Deborah and her family were down from Birmingham to witness her son Thomas get married on the beach the day before. Everything went great but the young man who was kind enough to act as ring bearer got a little over zealous on his walk to the alter. Even though both rings were tied  to the pillow, somewhere between the boardwalk and the place where the bridal party were standing, the bride’s rose gold and diamond band disappeared. 😳  Luckily, Deborah reached out to me promptly and understood that we needed to find it quickly before those waves in the gulf got closer and closer. I was already in the area and agreed to meet Thomas for a debrief of where everyone was standing. I used my largest coil and was able to cover a lot of ground while Thomas ran back to his car for something. I think he was surprised to see that by the time he got back I was already taking pictures of the ring with the big seas in the background. He was thrilled to have his new bride’s ring back and quickly called his family to tell them the good news. Congratulations to you all. LOST PLATINUM WEDDING RING IN HAZENMORE, SASKATCHEWAN FARM YARD

Karrie husband was reading the Costco Connection when he read the article Hunting treasures. He searched the Ring Finders and contacted me.   Karrie had lost her wedding ring  so 30 days prior while playing catch with her daughter in the back yard. the ring was on her glove hand and was thought to be lost when she had to remove the glove to retrieve the ball from under the evergreen trees.  They had purchased a metal detector but could find the ring.

We made arrangements to meet.  I did a search of the evergreen trees on both sides of the yard and grid search of the main area of the yard. I was into the second  hour of the search and got a  great tone and 49 VDI  in the 2 in depth the ring was covered by the grass. Karrie was very happy to get the lost ring back on her finger.

This has to be one of the best feelings to return a precious lost item to someone that may have given up all hope of ever seeing it again.

Grandmother Was Not Affraid to Ask for Help in Yarmouth, MA to Find a Ring.

After leaving the beach were I had found and returned one ring that had been lost the day before by Mark while he was applying sunblock on this two children – See the Cape Cod, Massachusetts Lost Ring Returned blog. Leighton and I traveled to the beach we had originally planed to detect that day. Usually when heading to and while detecting in the water we get the usually questions, too many to list. But this day was a bit different and the question was “Could you help us find a ring that was lost yesterday? My son lost it while playing catch with his son?”

Leighton had moved down the shore line while I was getting the information on the lost ring. Of course I said we would listen for it. About 15 minutes later Leighton came back as I had not moved very far and he thought I might need help. Of course I did and welcomed it.

Another 15 minutes passed and I got a signal, yes, it was a ring. John had just walked past me to talk with Leighton. I turned around and went to them and sure enough the ring was as described and fit perfectly onto John’s finger.

Thanks and picture taking followed. An exchange of a few returned ring stories and a bit about metal detecting. John’s son, John, told us he was interested more in the detectors than the stories we were reminiscing about. We answered all his question. It was wonderful to have someone more interested in the hobby than the just best things we have found. I think Leighton and I may have seeded a budding metal detectorist. What a great hobby.

August 14, 2021 Cape Cod, Massachusetts Lost Ring Returned in Sand Found and Returned

Dang, if applying sunblock is not the cause that more people have their ring slip from their finger I don’t’ know what is. Not the case with Mark. He had removed his ring and placed it safely on his lap but a sudden call from his son and a quick turn caused the ring to slip off his lap and into the sand. After two hours of looking with no ring to be found it was time to call for help from someone, but who?

A chat with the gate keeper, Mark’s hope was heightened, he was told to call the RingFinders, and he did. I got the call and made arrangements to meet up with Mark before he left for home. I then called fellow RingFinder Leighton and together we started a long day of detecting as we met up with Mark and were shown the area where the ring sank into the soft sand. Leighton held back from starting to search the was to give me a head-start. Why? The day before we were starting a search for a necklace. Before starting I helped move a large log from the area. My bad, as within 4 seconds Leighton had unearthed the necklace. So he was going to give me the first search at some of the area.

As is the case many times, the ring was not found until the both of us had search the immediate area and then enlarged the search beyond the area we were told the ring should be in. Not bad, it was only about 15 feet east of the initial search area. Now Mark could return to finish packing for the trip home from the Happy Vacation Land on Cape Cod. Of course it was to be a happy ending to a vacation. And the ride home was sure to be in a car of happy people in that husband / father had his wedding band returned. Great memories for a wonderful week.

August 8, 202 It never hurts to reach out and ask.

And that is just what Andy did after searching with no results for his lost wedding band. I had been out looking for a ring that was lost over a year ago and saw another detectorist searching along the low water line. We never got close enough to talk and he left before I left the water. The kicker for me is that Andy had reached out to me because he saw a sign about TheRingFinders on the back of my car.

A text asking if I had found a ring was on my phone waiting for an answer. No, I had not. I replied and also sasked if I could help find the lost ring. Later that afternoon Leighton, another RingFinder and I returned to the beach searching the area we were told the ring had been lost. Three hours of detecting and no ring was found. The next morning I was up early and thought it would not hurt to cover the dry sand area we had not searched. I was out before the sun rose and found nothing in the sand. One more scan in the water would be relaxing before heading home. Not finding anything in the water, I was heading to my car and about a foot from the water line and some 60 feet from the area we had been searching I heard the last signal that I was going to dig before turning off my detector. YES, the sun’s sparkle reflected from a wedding band was a real surprise. I had found Andy’s ring.

A few texts later, I met up with Andy at lunch time to return his ring. He had a Thank You card filled with very heart warming words all ready to give me. His Thank You was a first for me in that I had never received a note in such a short time between the time I found a ring, told the owner, and returned it to the owner.
