Kim was visiting San Diego from Hawaii with her husband, and was spending a day at the beach. She had removed her rings to clean the sand from their settings. Forgetting that she had removed them, she shook the sand out of her blanket and the rings along with it. She managed to find the wedding band, but, the engagement ring was eluding capture with only sifting fingers as a tool. She got on her phone and Googled for help. My profile came up for San Diego and she gave me a call. She hadn’t left the area, so, I figured this should be a fairly quick search. The hard part was battling the traffic and parking! I lucked into a spot fairly close to her location and gave her a text on the way to the sand. Since Kim and her husband were leaving for home the next day, this had to be found now! She met me on the beach and guided me to the search area. 30 seconds later, I got a beautiful 12-03 on my E-trac and pulled her gorgeous engagement ring from over 5 inches down. Amy and family were visiting San Diego from Missouri and enjoying a day at the beach, when, her ring was accidentally flung into the sand from their blanket. they combed through the dry sand with their fingers for quite some time before they realized they needed some help. After a search on the internet, I got the call and headed out. I met them at the location and began a grid. Luckily, they kept watch on the area, so, there was no chance someone else could have found it. Well, it wasn’t found in record time, but, it was close…..took maybe 15 seconds and was at the edge of the designated search area! A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.
Alyssa was enjoying a day at the beach with her family, when she noticed that the ring she had put in her pocket was missing. She was pretty sure it happen out in the sand where her kids were playing after she had pulled her phone out of the same pocket. Alyssa’s sister told her about The Ring Finders and Alyssa contacted me. I hot footed it down there (actually just joined the rest of the maddening crowd inching our way to the beach!) and circled for another 1/2 hour before getting lucky on a parking space. After discussing the particulars on ring size, metal, search area, etc, I started a pass through the sand. My first target was a nice gold ring sound, but, turned out to be a partial pull tab. (not a big surprise in this area). The second target was the same sound and I.D. number (12-09 on my E-trac), but, was her ring. A happy Alyssa and another satisfying return. Received a call on Saturday, July 9th from Alissa about a lost white gold and diamond necklace somewhere in her backyard. Arrived to find that they had also suffered a fire to the gazebo behind their home next to their deck shortly after the necklace was lost. After repeatedly conducting a grid search in the area where they believed the necklace was lost, I mentioned I could get a flashlight and look under the gazebo as it was in the area where they believed the necklace could be. Alissa’s husband asked if I wanted him to remove the two wooden steps to the gazebo and I said, “Sure.” After he pulled the two steps away, both of us instantly spotted the necklace laying under where the steps had sat. Smiles all around!
Received a call from Kevin last evening in regards to his lost wedding band while unloading clay/mud from his dump truck since the load was very heavy and wet the load was stuck to the box and could not dump the load, he did not have a shovel with him so he used his hands to try and free some of the clay to unload. Then after he finely got home that evening he noticed his ring was missing.
I got to the site where Kevin thought the ring could be and I said to myself WOW this is going to be a challenge as you can see in the pictures, took out the Spectra V3i With high Voltage power lines nearby and at peak usage hr. My V3i just would not work properly in any mode or adjustment, So out came the Garrett AT pro and away I went doing a grid search N/S and E/W picking out beer cans and bottle caps from the clay after about 2 hrs. searching and Kevin fearing the worst I received a low tone and a VDI 65 about six inches, buried in the clay was his ring so I call Kevin over he could not believe his eyes that his ring was found in all that gumbo.

“Never Go, Never Know”
Meredith called me and was not happy. Her husband had lost his wedding ring while in the water at Beach 69 just up the road from the famed Hapuna Beach.
They’d waited three days before calling – having spent their time snorkeling to look for it. Should they call me to look for it professionally, or just assume it was lost to the water and waves of Hawaii’s Big Island? They didn’t know what to do. “Was there a chance I’d find it before returning home to Vancouver tomorrow?” she asked.
I’ve found lost rings up to a month after being lost and asked her about the ocean conditions. Beach 69, like Hapuna, can have a vicious west swell so I’m cautious with my predictions due to waves and current. Conditions were calm and the water clear she assured me. I got to the beach and conditions were excellent – the water was clear and there was barely a ripple.

Meredith’s husband met me on the beach and showed me how he’d been throwing a football (he’s left handed) in the water and getting tackled by his brother-in-law. It could be anywhere along a semi-rocky area 100 feet long just off the sandy beach. I started my search at the deepest point in the water that I could reach to beat the rising tide, hoping all along that the ring hadn’t gone flying off his hand into yet deeper water.
I combed the sand-and-stone bottom carefully and as I got shallower, with more breathing room, could get creative. I asked where the guys had gone charging into the water, where the tackles happened and where they’d snorkeled. In the end, I decided to start my search in the general area where he’d first gotten into the water. Back and forth I went, hearing nothing through the headphones – and then a big signal.
I dropped to the stony bottom underwater on my knees and fanned the sand with my hand to expose the target below. Nothing. I did it again, going deeper through small stones and sand. Suddenly a massive gold ring with a central platinum band emerged out of the hole. In only three days in the water, the ring had been buried – deeper and deeper – by its shear weight and the gentle motion of the waves.
I held the ring in my hand underwater and admired it, thanked God for letting it still be there, then surfaced. Meredith rushed out and her sister-in-law started clapping as did others on the beach who’d been watching the search.

“I didn’t think you’d find it!,” she said before taking it and swimming back to shore with it tightly in her hand. Her husband swam over from deeper water and congratulated me. He told me they’d thought it would be on the ocean floor forever – that they had called me as a last desperate move, a final Hail-Mary as it were before heading back to Canada.

“Rae of Hope”
We got the call to go to Hilo to find a lost diamond engagement ring on a recent, rainy afternoon. It’s an two hour drive away and the ring was lost at Onekahakaha Beach Park in the public swimming area.
Raelyn met us in the parking lot with her young son and we quickly got the full story. She had tried snorkeling for the first time ever in the large but protected, rock-and-sandy bay. After only a few minutes of putting on her mask and snorkel, she stood up in chest deep water and realized that her precious diamond engagement ring was missing from her finger. It had definitely been on as she’d gotten in the water as, ironically, she’d removed her gold wedding band so as not to lose it!

We retraced her steps into the water along a small sea wall which jutted into the shallow bay with little steps down either side. She showed us how she’d walked into the deeper water, put on her mask and paddled around into deeper water. As the tide was at its lowest, we decided to start at the deepest point she’d been, which was now just over waist deep. As we searched, Raelyn and her son swam and watched us carefully metal detect the sandy bottom. Every once in a while we’d ask her to try and remember exactly where she’d been, or if we were still in the same area she remembered being in.
Several times when retracing her movements she mentioned swimming away from shallow, brown stones. I thought it was an interesting thing to remember and asked her to show me where the brown stones were. Just near the entrance of the swimming area, where she’d first put on her mask, was a small field of algae-covered, cannonball-sized stones. I decided to try my luck and started searching the area using a newly purchased Minelab Excalibur. Sylvie faithfully continued hunting the deeper water with her Garrett SeaHunter. Looking over at Raelyn, she was now sitting on the nearby sand talking to her husband on the phone while her son played in the shallows. A glint of white gold peaked out from under the sand in about knee-deep water as I turned back. I’d found it!

I signaled Sylvie and Raelyn then turned on the GoPro to film it coming out of the sand, “live”! Both ladies rushed over and I pulled the ring out out of the sand and handed it to a jubilant Raelyn! She held her hands over her mouth for a moment in disbelief. “I’d just told my husband on the phone I didn’t think we’d find it!”

Zack left an urgent message on my cell phone voice mail stating that he had lost his 4 day old wedding ring in the sand across the street from where he was staying on his honeymoon. When I finally heard the message, I called him back for the details and arranged to meet him there at 11pm. We both arrived a bit early and Zack escorted me down to the area were he had lost it 3 hours earlier. He had been brushing sand off his hands by rubbing them on his pants when the unthinkable happened……the ring went flying into the sand and disappeared. Zack contemplated renting or buying a detector but found The Ring Finders online and decided to give us a try. Initially, I was told it was a silver ring, so, I expected a high pitched screamer for a target on my E-trac. Right after I fired my machine up, I get a low pitched, solid 12-06 moaner in my ears on my first swing. I asked again about the metal it was made of, and he said “silver, but it has some gold in it too”. Great, now I need to scoop virtually all non-ferrous sounds, starting with this one. Well, in this case, first time was the charm, as this 12-06 was his ring! So much for it being mainly silver. A happy Zack couldn’t believe I found it so quick. Getting me to the right spot was the key here, so, good job Zack! I hope you and your new bride enjoy the rest of your stay here. Great to meet you and thank you for the reward.
Patrick was out playing in the local park with his son with a boomerang type toy. Being afraid of losing his ring, Patrick took off his ring and placed it in his son’s hat which was on the ground. As they were bringing their play time to an end, Patrick’s son went to pick up his hat when he noticed it was crawling with ants so he gave his hat a kick. And with that Patrick’s ring went flying and disappeared into the grass. Patrick went to a local metal detector store and rented a detector. After several minutes of searching he had not found his ring and ended up calling me for help. Luckily I was only a couple of minutes away and even though I was running late for a dinner date with friends and my wife I couldn’t resist helping out.
After 15 minutes of searching my CTX gave me a nice ring signal, there sat Patrick’s ring peeking out of the grass. Quickly we gave high-fives and snapped a couple of photos so that I could race home to my diner date.
