Ring lost at Coronado found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Gabby and her boyfriend were here in town visiting and spent the afternoon at the beach in Coronado. After watching the sunset, they started walking off a sand dune and toward the street. Gabby made a sweeping motion with her hand and her gold pinky ring flew off and into the soft sand. They looked for a while and realized they were going to need help locating the ring. A quick internet search brought her to TheRingFinders.com website and my contact information. I soon met them at the location and got the story on how the ring was lost and it’s probable location. I started a grid search and found tons of signals in the expected range of her gold ring, but, all these signal were turning out to be junk. After not finding the ring initially, I asked for the most likely area to start and changed methods. I then started an expanding circle around that spot and within a few minutes, I had Gabby’s ring in my scoop. A pleasure meeting you and thanks for the reward.

Mike was playing football with his son in a nearby park as it was getting dark. As he snapped the ball to his son for a punt, he felt his loose tungsten wedding band fly off of his finger into the grass. Mike and his son searched for a while but they were unable to locate the ring. As Mike is a neighbor of mine and his wife Julie reminded him of the service I provide, he drove his golf cart to my house and told me what happened. We returned to the park and searched for about an hour after dark with no luck. I returned early the next morning and gradually extended the search area but was again unable to locate the band. I had a beach hunt scheduled with a detecting buddy of mine Jim Facinelli later that morning so Jim and I returned to the park early in the afternoon to search for the ring again. After about 45 minutes, I found a ring in the grass but it was a stainless steel spinner ring rather than Mike’s tungsten band. Five minutes later and within 10 feet of the first ring I located the band as Jim was close to detecting it himself!

Mike, thank you for trusting me to find your wedding band and Jim, thank you for your assistance in the search!

November 2021 Mikala called me shortly after Halloween asking fro some professional help. She explained to me that her whole family have been on the search for her missing wedding rings and they could not find them. She went into detail telling me that the family and her toddler were up on the second level of their home carving pumpkins. During this activity she had taken off three rings from her hand and placed them on top of her sons highchair tray. Well after the pumpkin carving and clean up she went looking for her rings and they were all missing. They searched the area they had been carving and tore apart the highchair and no rings were to be found.

A bit after the incident her husband happened to eyeball one of the three rings a sterling silver ring laying at the bottom of their balcony steps. This lead them to think that possibly their toddler must have seen the shiny rings on the tray table and somehow got ahold of them. They have big dogs and their son has been known to throw rocks off the balcony for them to chase after. This gave them reason to believe their son may have tossed mommies rings for the dog as well. This lead to more searching high and low outside of the home but the wedding rings never came into focus.

Mikala told me they didn’t have any experience using a metal detector and once she found TheRingFinders online she soon rather just call a professional to come search for her wedding set.  I told her that it sounds like a great challenge and I be honored to drop by and perform a search.

The day of the search was not unlike another winter day in the Pacific North West full of wind and rain. In full rain gear I gathered my tools and was off to another lost wedding ring adventure.

Watch the video to see as we bring back not one but two smiles to Mikala’s face. This search took quite a bit of effort but was worth every bit of it to have recovered her lost wedding set of four years.

Some good old boys gave me a call asking for some emergency assistance searching for a diamond gold nugget ring lost on a dusty trail. I was able to meet them and found that it was indeed a dusty trail to say the least. The gentleman was walking and simply lost his footing, went down and when doing so his ring came off his finger. He was OK after dusting himself off there was absolutely no sign of his large chunky diamond gold nugget wedding ring. The men quickly fetched a cheap metal detector from a local shop but still could not locate the ring. After a quick Google search they found my services and the hunt was on!

After a few minutes over this dusty trail I was able to quickly locate his precious ring saving the day. It was an absolute honor to recover such a nice ring for this man. Sometimes we just need a little assistance and I was happy to provide a helping hand this day.

My wife got a request for my services from a friend of hers from the gym. It seems that George takes care of several feral cat colonies. On Tuesday when he got home he noticed his wedding ring of 49 years was missing. He checked his gloves, car & trunk. No luck.

We made arrangements to meet Thursday, in the afternoon to start the search, We met and he showed me his routine. We emptied food bowls to make sure it was not mixed in with the chow. We checked the water bowls and supply box. Next, I used one of my detectors, a Minelab Equinox with a very small coil. There are a lot of metal items in the area. The ring was not found, off to stop 2.

At the 2nd stop, George again showed me his routine. We checked the bowls and the supply box, nothing. He said he did throw some trash in the nearby dumpster. My heart sank. We opened the dumpster lid and it had been emptied. As I was searching the area with my detector, I questioned George about the check of his car and the gloves he wore that day. He said I could check his car if I wanted to. He is currently wearing the gloves he used on Tuesday, and there is no ring in them.

I finished searching the area with the metal detector with no luck. I moved to George’s car. I looked in the back seat, nothing. I then went to look under the driver’s seat, and there was his white gold wedding ring. He couldn’t believe it was there after he had looked.

The smile on his face was awesome. He said that his wife told him that the ring wouldn’t be found. This upcoming year will be their 50th Anniversary. Christmas came a few days early for George!

I love my hobby!!

Ring lost at South Mission Beach found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Robyn was going to play some volleyball, so, she took off her wedding band and engagement ring and tied them to her pants. After the game, she discovered the tie had come loose and the rings missing. The search was on! She, and her husband of 6 months, Alex, and others combed through the sand of the volleyball court, but, all in vain. It just so happened that a former client of mine was walking by while they were searching, and recommended that they call me for help. Alex gave me a call about 5pm, explained the situation, and we made arrangements to meet right away. I arrived about 5 :45, met everyone, and they showed me the likely search area…..mainly the volleyball court, the area around it, and also the path they took to and from their nearby beachfront rental. After several passes on my grid search of one half of the volleyball court, I was just about at the far edge of that area, when I got a nice solid 6 on my Equinox. I stuck the pinpointer into the sand, found the target, and scooped up a handful of sand. Robyn came over to see what my first target was, and she was happy to see one ring in my hand. we then looked down to see the engagement ring sticking up out of the sand. 6pm and all is well! A pleasure to meet you, I hope you had a pleasant visit here in San Diego, and thank you for the reward.

Ring lost at Coronado found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

I got a call yesterday evening from Lauren saying that her husband Craig lost his wedding ring in the sand in front of their bungalow at the Hotel Del Coronado. Just a simple thing as brush sand off his hands caused the ring to come off into the soft sand and disappear. He sifted the sand with his fingers for quite a while, but, came up empty. Being a Saturday night, I didn’t want to wait until the next day to search as that beach gets detected quite often and it might get found by someone who wouldn’t know who lost it, or, wouldn’t want to return it, so, I told them I would head over and search that night. We met up, Craig showed me the search area, and within a minute or so, I got the signal I was expecting. The whole family was happy Dad got his wedding ring back! A pleasure to meet you folks, and thank you for the reward.
