Wedding Ring Lost in Sand at a Local City Park

Nick called me early in the morning, asking my help finding his wedding band that he lost the last night. He was doing his daily workout after work. After he finishes his two mile run, he stops by a local park that has some workout bars that he uses to do some upper arm exercises.

While working out on the bars his wedding band slipped off his finger into deep sand. Nick went back to his house to get tools to sift trough the sand with no success finding his ring.

The next day Nick found my contact information on TheRingFinders.com.
He would be working till late that night, making it impossible to meet me at the site of the loss.

No problem for me as it was a neighborhood tot lot that would be find if he texted me the address. These public parks get hit hard by other people with metal detectors, especially sandy tot lot play areas.

I went to the park but could not locate the area Nick had described. I could not contact him but he did call me to check on my progress and he had sent me the wrong directions. A half hour later I was at the right park and within a few minutes I found Nick’s wedding ring.
I called him setting up a place we could meet to personally give him his wedding band back after he got off work. He was definitely grateful, thanking me several times.

Its always nice to return the ring directly to the owner, I know I’ll never get tired of doing this.

Gold Family Crest Signet Ring Lost at Venice Beach, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

I hadn’t been home too long Sunday after a successful ring recovery at Hermosa Beach, and was waiting as my wife was getting dinner ready when I received a call from Natasha. She had been at the beach on our very warm day, and went to apply sunscreen. To do so, she removed her family crest signet ring that had been given to her by her father. All of the members of her family received a family crest ring when they reach a certain age, so this was special. She told me she had stayed in the spot of the loss, so that was good news. I let her know that I would be coming immediately, we could not wait because the county sifting machines would be over the area early in the morning, and many people metal detect the area all the time.

When I got there it was dark, but we were able to find each other pretty quick. She showed me the area, and expanded it out a bit to be sure I would be able to cover everywhere she had been. I got my equipment ready, and she and her friends moved their towels and bags. I turned my detector on, swung to my right, and got a great signal. One scoop, and Natasha’s ring was in my scoop. She had unknowingly put me right next to her ring, and within 20 seconds it was found. Turned out to be a great day. Natasha’s smile tells it all.

Lost ring in Lake Eustis, Florida…..Found and Returned!

Danielle called me on a cold, wet Saturday morning in November, desperate for help. Apparently her sister’s fiance, Levi, had bought a beautiful engagement ring and wanted to do a practice run on the “Big Proposal” and somehow lost the ring. She explained that Levi had decided to go to Lake Eustis, with his older brother, and find the perfect spot to practice his proposal. Levi was standing along side of the rail and as he opened the ring box, to his horror, the ring popped out of the box, hit the concrete and dropped into the water below! He was stunned! His precious gift, the white gold ring with the .8 carat diamond was gone! He could not believe what just happened. He called his dear future sister in law, Danielle, and explained his dilemma. She immediately looked on line for someone to help and typed in “Lake Salvage” and nothing came up. Next she thought of “Ring Finder” and bingo, up came one of the ring finders stories.
I packed up my gear and headed for Lake Eustis. It was raining when I arrived and there was Levi, his brother and Danielle standing in the rain, anxiously awaiting my arrival. Levi told me exactly what happened and I could see he was upset….so I tried my best to give him hope and encourage him not to give up. After suiting up, I grabbed by gear and wadded into the murky water. Thankfully it was only 4 feet deep but the bottom was very uneven and full of weeds and debris. Right away I started finding targets. I retrieved a few coins, pull tabs and fishing lures…all the while trying to find Levi’s ring. After 30 minutes or so, I got a strong signal and up came a fish scaling tool. Then right in the exact same spot I got a clear, clean gold signal that proved to be Levi’s lost ring. I will never forget the look of relief on their faces and what a thrill it was to see their smiles. It was an honor to help you Levi, and I hope and pray the story of your lost and found ring brings smiles to your faces each time you recount the events of this day. Lost Ring at Russell Beach Found for Christmas

I received a call while at work from a very upset lady, the usual story of a slightly-too-large ring and the sea.

The previous day she had gone for a morning swim, and returned to discover she and her ring had parted company.

I knew the beach in question is a very mobile shingle and notorious for ‘swallowing’ rings so time was of the essence. It already had a two-tide head start…

Next low was in two hours, so I cashed in some of my leave and headed away in order to catch it.
An hour and a half and a car ferry later, I arrived on site. Looking at the steep beach angle, coupled with recent wind and wave conditions I could only realistically give her a 50:50 chance of finding it.

After a quick walk through of the timeline and reenacting the whats and wheres leading up to the loss, I marked out the area of highest probability and started searching between the tideline and the waist-deep point where it dropped away to deep water. Figured I’d do the hotspot first before getting the wetsuit on!

A lot of litter signals from can tabs and so forth caused several stops to listen carefully and determine if it was the ring… all were discounted for one reason or another.

Then, on the third line a strong clear tone and the scoop went in for a big bite out of the gravel. I checked the hole to make sure I had the target, dropped my marker float and waded ashore to empty the scoop.

Dumping the gravel onto the beach, sitting quite brazenly on top of the pile of stones was the ring, and in only 12 minutes from switching the machine on (Largely thanks to an extremely accurate start point).

Handed her the lost ring with a smile and a “Happy Christmas!” accompanied by a small round of applause from onlookers.

One extremely grateful, and very relieved couple.

In the space of 30 or so hours, it had already sunk 6-8 inches. I was quietly pleased to have snatched this one back from the beach!

Lost Wedding Ring Found and Returned on Texas Ranch – Chris Dean

Stuart lost his wedding ring while installing a 3400′ water line on a beautiful 240 acre Central Texas ranch. He already had knowledge of TheRingFinders.com because fellow member John Volek (Houston Metal Detecting Services) had recovered a friends ring early this year on a Gulf Coast beach (John’s recovery). Stuart made the right decision because his lost wedding ring is back on his finger!

Wedding Band found in North Malibu

Mike Hall called me on a Saturday night. He was pretty frantic; the previous evening he was eating at a restaurant in north Malibu by Zuma Beach and playing with his son after dinner in the sand, and his wedding band came flying off. It was dark out, so they did a quick search, but came up empty handed. I moved some plans around and met him out there the next day, Sunday evening, after traffic died down. It still took about two & a half hours to make the 80 mile drive. I got there, and Mike and his family were nice enough to save a parking spot for me right next to the sand. I asked him to try his best to remember exactly where he was in the sand when he was playing with his son, in relation to the parking lot, trash cans, and surrounding in general. I took out my Whites Duo Field Pulse machine and started to grid the area. I was finding many trash targets like small nails and bottle caps, but after more guidance from Mike and his son, I was able to narrow down the search pattern to a strip at the back of the beach just parallel to the cars. It wasn’t long before I heard a loud repeatable signal that sounded promising. One scoop, and there was Mike’s ring. He was elated and the whole family was jumping for joy. He then shared the story of the significance of the ring’s history. The ring had been passed down for generations, from his great-grandfather, down to him. What really touched my heart, was that his young son who was there, asked his dad, “How can I get married someday, dad, if the ring isn’t there to be passed down to me?”

Point Defiance Beach WA Lost Ring Search (2016)

Man thinks he lost his one of a kind commissioned wedding ring at Point Defiance Beach during the 4th of July. He soon after found his ring in his garden by use of a handheld metal detector. I share this search to illustrate how metal detection equipment ultimately brought this guys ring back to his finger.

White Gold Wedding Ring Lost at Redondo Beach, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Yesterday I received a call from Cathy, she was asking for help in finding her husband David’s wedding ring at the beach. They had been there the day before in the afternoon, and sometime when applying sunscreen, his ring went missing. They looked, but were unable to find it, or remember exactly where they had been sitting. Cathy found me on The Ring Finders web site, and called. I was able to go right away, and they were at the location, which was going to be a big help.

When I got there Cathy met me and walked me down to the area she believed the loss to have occurred. I took one look at the beach, and my heart immediately sank. The beach had the tell tail sign of having been cleaned by the county sifting machine not the rake, smoothed beach with tire tracks. So the first thing I did was to inform Cathy that because of the beaches condition, the prospects did not look well for a successful search, but told her that there is always hope, and I would conduct the search none the less. David came over not long after and using the pictures he had taken when they were there tried to narrow down the area where they had been sitting. He showed me the pictures, and then said he thought he had remembered a red piece of plastic that was on the beach being the same one that they had been next to the day before. Looking at the pictures, the pattern in the sand from the sifters looked the same as they did now. Could it be that they had skipped a day, and not many people had visited that area since yesterday, I was encouraged, and began my search. One pass, two, three, four, bobby pins, bottle caps, a piece of foil, a penny, and then on pass five, a good solid signal, one scoop, and there it was David’s white gold ring. I held it up towards where they had been sitting, and they came right over. Cathy gave me a hug, and David shook my hand, both very happy to be able to hold David’s ring again, and see it again where it belongs. Another happy couple, and a great day!
