Lost Wedding Ring… Found Cedar Rapids, Iowa

I received an email from Lynnetia about her husband Aarons lost wedding ring. He had been trimming a tree in their front yard about two weeks ago and realized his ring was missing.

They then purchased a cheaper metal detector and found some things but not his ring. They then found me on the ringfinder site. I went to look for it yesterday and was happy to find it right by the tree.

They were overjoyed that it was found. It was a pleasure to help this nice young couple.

Wedding Band Lost in the Dry Sand, Found and Returned at Ocean Isle Beach NC

My wife and I had just sat down and ordered dinner when I got a text message saying “Hi, is this Jim the ring finder?” I called the number and talked to Blythe, who stated she was on the beach taking photos and when she stood up and brushed the sand off her pants, her Tungsten wedding ring went flying. I told her that I’d be there between 9:30 and 10.

After dinner, I dropped my wife off at home, grabbed my gear, texted Blythe telling her I’d be there in about 30 minutes. When I got to the beach, I met Blythe, Cassi and their dog, Jasper. It was very dark as we made our way out to the beach and the area both Blythe and Cassi were sure they were when Blythe’s ring came off. I turned my Equinox 800 on, literally took two steps and got a solid 17 on the machine. I knew I had Blythe’s Tungsten ring. This is the type of ring searches we pray for – lost in the dry sand, and the owner putting us in the exact spot! I scooped the sand up, checked the hole and knew I had the ring in the scoop. As I shook the sand out of the scoop, I heard the familiar sound of a metal ring clanging in the bottom of the scoop. Cassie and Blythe heard it too. I walked over to Blythe, holding the scoop out for her to pluck her wedding band out. Cassie kept saying “you found it already?” Big smiles and hugs, and I think Jasper even got a little excited.

Blythe and Cassie, thank you for trusting me to help find your lost treasure! Have a great rest of your trip and a safe drive home.

Lost New GoPro in Iowa Marsh

The following story is from a local Nature Photographer who contacted me because he lost his GoPro

This picture says it all. I was paddling my kayak in about 30-degree temperatures when a spindly little branch knocked my 2-month old GoPro camera into moving water that was deep. In fact, the water was deeper than my chest-high waders were tall.

Finding this was more than just finding a nearly new GoPro camera. Along with the camera was a mount, a small tripod, and a high capacity memory card. Obviously the value of this was more than just replacing a camera.

I contacted Jason Scanlan at “The Ringfinders” to discuss running a metal detector in the cold, moving water. Within ten-minutes of searching there was a “beep” in the headphones and I knew where to scoop with a long-handled net. Another minute or so later and I had my GoPro camera and equipment back in my hands. I pressed the power button and was able to watch the recorded journey my camera took after being knocked off of my kayak.

Beautiful Gold and Diamond Engagement Ring Recovered in New Castle, DE

While at work on Wednesday I received a call from Krissy regarding a lost diamond engagement ring. Krissy communicated to me that several days earlier she was at a playground in New Castle, DE and while playing with her 2 year old her ring slipped off her finger. She was very upset and very convinced that the ring fell off in a very specific part of the  playground and slipped beneath the rubber mulch. Prior to calling me, she and her husband and several others had spent quite a bit of time on hands and knees looking for the lost ring. I told Krissy I would meet her at the playground on Friday afternoon.

We met at 3 pm, Friday afternoon at the playground. After introductions I did what I always do when I meet people who have asked for my help…I show them how all my equipment works. I do this for 2 reasons…1) I want them to feel confident that if the ring is there I’m going to find it and 2) If I cover the entire area in my search they can be 100% confident that it must be somewhere else!

We walked around the playground and she pointed to the specific area that she was horsing around the most with her 2 year old. My intent was to start there and basically cover the entire playgrou nd if I had to. I didn’t have to!!! About 3 minutes into the search I heard a sweet low tone in my headphones…my pinpointer immediately identified her ring about 3 inches deep in the rubber mulch. I said Krissy….and pointed.  The emotion of seeing her ring got the best of her for a second and then it was just pure joy for both of us. This job as a Ringfinder is so much funner when you’re successful in finding the lost item and Krissy’s joy made my day!!!

Ring lost at Mission Bay found

Michael was out on the beach at Mission Bay in front of his apartment when, while waving to someone, his loose fitting wedding ring flew off into the sand. A search by sifting through the sand proved fruitless, so, an online search was in order where he found The Ring Finders website. When I turned on my phone in the morning, I noticed the text and contacted Michael. We made plans for a 10am meet and search. After arriving, meeting Michael and his lovely wife, we went to the site while talking and getting the ring loss story on the way. The search area was fairly large, but, not ridiculous. All dry sand and maybe 30 X 100 feet or so. I started at one end and after 3-4 passes, several coins, and a dog tag later, his gold wedding band came to light. All smiles on the happy couple now and thank you for the reward.

Lost ring in the water, Lake Tibet, Orlando, Fl…..Found and Returned!

Greg called me about a ring that his girl friend had accidentally dropped in a lake and mentioned it was only in a few feet of water. I explained how I normally retrieve lost rings and he assured me he knew exactly where it fell off of the dock and into the water. He said his girl friend had used a mask and tried to locate the ring but was unsuccessful. It had been lost almost a month prior to our conversation and I assured Greg that the ring was most likely in the same spot where it originally fell.

Three days later I met Greg at the location and the first thing I did was to check the exact depth of the water at the drop site and it turned out to be more like 6 to 7 feet deep. Unfortunately I had not brought my scuba tank, dive hose and regulator but I did have my mask and snorkel. So I figured it was another good opportunity to practice diving and holding my breath….once again!

By using my PVC pole stuck into the soft lake bottom where Greg said the ring had fallen, I was able to work my water proof Garrett pro pointer around the pole checking every metal signal. I found various bolts and such and on the 3rd dive I got a good signal and could only grab a handful of mud, shells and debris and as I sorted through the material my hand felt Greg’s lost ring! As I surfaced I rinsed the ring off and was amazed by the unique design and beauty. Greg was thrilled and very thankful to see his girl friend’s lost ring again and I was honored to be the one to find it for them.

Lost Ring found in Fernandina Fl. Guitar player happy!!

I parked at a beach side restaurant in Fernandina.   On the back deck there was a band playing and I recognized the lead singer.   I decided to go metal detect the beach and come back later that night to say hello.

At 11:00, I came back and they were packing up.   I walked up behind the stage and spoke to Lauren, the lead singer.   While we were talking, I notice a guy raking the sand behind the stage.   I asked Lauren if the guy was looking for something.   Sure enough he had flung his wedding band off his finger while he was trying to loosen up his fingers.   I walked over and asked if needed help.   I told him I had a metal detector and I help people recover lost rings.

I walked to the truck and pulled out the detector and my sand scoop.   I thought this would be a simple find, Man was I wrong.   There was so many bottle caps, not to mention he had raked over the spot it had fallen.   After almost 3 hours of cleaning the area of bottle caps and pull tabs, I still had not found the ring.   I was tired and thirsty.   I needed to find me some water and take a break.

After getting a bottle of water and detecting the beach for an hour, I headed back to the dunes behind the stage.   I was bound and determined to find the wedding band.   One, I didn’t want to let the guy down and two, this was not just any wedding band.   This was the band his dad wore for over fifty years.  It was the one his mom had given his dad when they were married.   His dad gave it to him to wear after his mom died.

I walked over to the area and said a quick prayer.  I waved the detector and got a good signal.   I took out the pinpointer and was thinking I would have another pull tab.   A few scoops of sand with my hands and there it was.    Thank you Jesus!

I sent Frank a text telling him I had given up   He text back thanking me for trying.   Then I text him back and told him I only have up for a little while and went back    I sent him the picture of the ring.   He was very happy    Now his wife would be happy again and his dad would keep him in his will.

Engagement ring found in Waycross,GA

I received a text from Hayden asking if I was the one who helped people find rings.   I called her back and told her I was and asked her details of where she was when she lost it.   I was already headed that way and told her and her husband I would be there in 10 minutes.

She had handed her husband the rings  in the parking lot of a  doctors office while she put on lotion.   Their young daughter took off running toward the street and he took off after her.   As he did, he slung the rings.   They were able to find the band but not the diamond ring.

I started searching where he was standing.   I knew the ring had to be somewhere in the grass and I should get a good shallow signal.   After about an hour of searching the grass and shrubs, I couldn’t believe I wasn’t finding it.   We all started praying.   The other ring was found on the other side of the driveway on the pavement.   So they suggested I look there.   I searched for a couple of minutes and just didn’t see how it could be over there.   I went back over the original area again.   No luck.   So back to the area where the other ring was found.   I started around a bush of Ivey and got a loud shallow signal.   I took out the pinpointed and moved the Ivey back and there it was.   Thank you Lord!

Lost ring at Mission Beach found

Joe’s buddies were throwing him a bachelor party here in San Diego. Got the beach house, check, got the beer, check, took an Uber to get the Cardiff Crack (a special Tri Tip roast beef sold up the coast a ways), check, hitting the beach and throwing the football around in the water, check. What they forgot was that you should leave jewelry at home and not take them to the beach…..especially out in the ocean. He’s from Arizona, and just started wearing this ring, so, a common rookie mistake :-). The cold water combined with slippery conditions allowed his ring to just fall right off in the waist deep surf. An online search and The Ring Finders popped up with my contact info. I get the call just a hair after high tide, so, we made arrangements to meet a good 5 hours later when the tide would be a lot further out. Makes the search much easier to contend with when you can avoid most of the surf, current, and undertow. I arrive around 8:30 pm and meet Joe at the location. Earlier I had him take some reference points and pace off how far he had been out in the water. These were important details that help narrow the search area and increase the likelihood of success. I started gridding and getting no targets at all…..as in mind-numbingly quiet. After about 4-5 passes, I get a solid 11 and scoop a bottle cap. Rats….even though I figured it wasn’t going to be his size 14 tungsten carbide ring, I was at least hoping for something good. 2 more passes and I get a screaming 20 on my Equinox. Now, that’s more like it! Sure enough, Joe’s ring was in the scoop. He and his buddies were totally amazed and thrilled that Joe’s ring was recovered. Let the bachelor party begin! It will be a lot more pleasant trip home to AZ too, since I just realized that the ring is inscribed with “til death”, which might have been the consequences coming back home without the ring!  Pleasure to meet you Joe, and the bachelor party gang, and thank you for the reward.

Tungsten wedding ring found in Berwyn, Il

Lost while pulling weeds, a newlywed looses his beautiful Tungsten wedding ring.

Found in about 15 minutes for this newlywed who was sick at the loss, but fortunately he had a good idea of the area he lost it in and it made for a quick recovery.
