Lost Gold Ring at Davis Bay on the Sunshine Coast…Found!

My day job consists of mostly 13 hour days and it’s rare to get time off but luckily this week, I had two days off where I was able to recover two items for two very happy customers. The universe works in wonderful ways for this story because this couple were ending a beautiful 10 day vacation in the Sunshine Coast, unfortunately they lost a very special ring.

They went online and found TheRingFinders directory and gave me a call that evening, they told me they were returning back to Toronto the next day and luckily I was off work that day so we arranged to meet in at 12 noon at Davis Bay.

After a 3 hour wait at the ferry terminal, 40 minute ferry ride and a 40 minute drive, I arrived at Davis Bay, I heard the story about how the ring was lost and the couple showed me where they lost the ring on the beach, remember it’s a big beach and what seems to be a small area could always turn out to be an extremely large area and as you know it’s a game of inches and you have to go over the ring to find it. The difficulties of this search was that it wasn’t lost in the sand it was lost in fist size rocks, making it slippery and difficult to search the area properly.

After listening to their story and where they believe the ring came off I started my search, I knew I was under a bit of pressure because the sooner I could find this ring the sooner they can start getting ready to make their way back to Vancouver to fly out to Toronto that evening.

After approximately 40 minutes of searching I found his beautiful ring!  I was so relieved and happy to find it so quickly knowing that they could comfortably take a ferry back over to Vancouver and drive to the airport and catch their connecting flight to Toronto. Newlywed Groom Looses Wedding Ring On Emerald Isle Beach. Found By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

Ashley & Will married on the Emerald Isle, North Carolina beach Monday.  Three days later, Will was throwing a football on the beach to Ashley’s brother.  Within minutes he noticed his ring was gone and Ashley pleaded on a local Facebook page for someone with a metal detector.  Many had mentioned Steven Ray of Crystal Coast Ring Finders and after Ashley called, I came out as soon as possible to begin the search in the dark.  The couple had marked the search area very well for me and this aided in finding Will’s new ring quickly.

Lost Wedding Band Found Ocean City NJ by Ring Finders South Jersey

I received a message on my Ring Finders South Jersey Facebook page from Dorothy who asked if I could help find a wedding ring that was lost in Ocean City, NJ earlier today. The ring belongs to her friend Ryan’s father.  I spoke with Ryan and he told me how his father Jim lost his wedding band while out in the waves during high tide.  We planned to meet during low tide to give us the best chance at finding it.  After a thorough grid search of the area did not produce the ring, I expanded the search out a little farther.  It was a few minutes later that I heard the tone and dug down approximately 10 inches in the sand.  It was the ring!  The ring that Jim has not taken off his hand since 1974, the year he married his wife.  It was pure joy when the ring was found and able to be put back where it belongs.

Lost Men’s Platinum Wedding Ring – Duck – Outer Banks, NC – Found

I received a text from Asit on Wednesday at around 9pm.  He wanted to inquire about my lost ring service.  I told him to give me a call and he did.  Asit explained that he had been boogie boarding with his daughter’s when he lost his platinum wedding ring.  He didn’t really remember when he lost it but by looking at pictures he assumed that it was around noon.

I explained that high tide yesterday was near the time he lost it and that a good time to look would have been the next low time at 5pm but that time was gone.  The next low tide that I could get there would be around 5 the next day.  I told him that I could come up around 3pm.

When I arrived I fired up the Eq 800 and did a grid search parallel with the water from the dry sand to the water and about a foot deep.  No targets…not even a pop bottle cap.  I decided to do a vertical grid from the dry sand to the water.  On about the 8th pass…BEEP.  A great signal but a 14.  I decided to dig it anyway!  Unknown to me, Asit’s wife Rachna had been filming the find!

Diamond Stud Earring Lost in the Dry Sand, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC.

Just after 4:30 pm on Wednesday, I got a text message saying in part, “This is Vicki H. Can you please come and try to find my diamond earring. Thanks. We are on 6th Avenue. Just down from Maritime.” Instead of texting back and forth, I prefer to call so that’s what I did.  As her phone was ringing, I’m saying to myself, please let this be in the dry sand. When she answered, that was the first question I asked her, and her response was “Yes!”  Got her location and told her I’d be there in 10 minutes. I grabbed my Gold Bug 2 detector and headed out.

When I arrived on the beach, I met Vicki and her sisters Nan and Judy. They showed me the 10×10 ft area and said they had been looking for the earring for about 40 minutes before they called me. I tested Vicki’s other earring to ensure I could get a signal, there was very little metal to try and detect. After a successful test, I started a very slow walking grid line. I could tell that they had been looking for the earring and I was concerned that they either moved it or buried it deeper in the sand. I got a couple of bottle caps and some small pieces of foil but didn’t hit her earring on my first pass over the area. Vicki and her sisters reconfirmed the area and I started my second attempt. I got a faint bleep in the sand and hand shoveled the sand onto a plastic strainer I brought. I re-checked the area and the strainer with the detector and had the target in the strainer.  I started finger sifting the sand trying to feel the earring with no luck. As I stood up to detect the area again, I got a beautiful sparkle as the sun hit the diamond in the sand. I reached down and picked it up, and realized how easy it was to miss it with my fingers. I held it up in front of me and Nan noticed it first and then Vicki. There were big smiles and the “I can’t believe it” words from all three ladies.

Ring lost at Fiesta Island found

Kristina was enjoying a cookout and water fun at Fiesta Island. After coming out of the water, she noticed her gold and diamonds ring was gone. Not knowing if it was actually lost in the water, or, the dry sand around where she was camped, it was hard to zero in on where it could be. She searched as best she could, and even came back later that night to try and find it, but, it remained among the missing. She called me the next day and we made arrangements to meet at the site that evening so I could see the approximate 50 X 100 foot search area and decide what the best time and method it was going to need. It took a little while to figure out the exact site on the beach, but, eventually we did and the search area was defined. The tide was still too far in, so, I decided to search the dry sand area first, even though the water was the most likely place for it to have been lost. Kristina went back home and left me to grid the area, which I did until 10pm when access to the island closes. This whole island is a virtual dump site with zillions of scrap targets everywhere. After a couple of hours, over 100 pieces of junk, no ring, so, as planned, I returned the next morning at 5am to search the wet sand and water at a minus tide. I figured the ring should now be just in the wet sand, so, I started at the water’s edge and worked my way up the slope going parallel to the water’s edge. An hour and half later, and another 100 pieces of scrap, I had gone up the slope almost to the previous night’s tide line, but, still no ring. Ok, I figured it was time to put on the booties and hit the water. In walking up the slope toward my truck, I decided to do one more pass right at the previous high tide line. After about 3/4 of the way across, I get a signal and looked down to see an outline of a gold ring! No way, I ‘m thinking. How is a gold ring sticking up above the sand like that after being lost for two days? That’s a first for me, but, sure enough, it was Kristina’s ring! The first photo is the ring  as I found it. The second is right after I lifted it up and set it sideways to verify it was Kristina’s. It turns out that there is a hard layer under the ring at that very spot that prevented it from sinking further. Another interesting aspect of this is that there was a couple that had been jogging back and forth over that very area during the time I was detecting close by. It’s amazing that they didn’t see the ring and make off with it. We lucked out. I texted a thrilled Kristina with a photo of her ring and we made arrangements to meet later in the day for the return after she got off work. A pleasure to meet you Kristina and thank you for the reward.

Engagement Ring FOUND After Playing Ball With Dog

I received a call asking if I could find a ring in a backyard. My schedule allowed me to search the same day of the call. I arrived and was met by Rebecca and her fiancé who showed me where she possibly lost it. They told me she was throwing a ball to her dog and the ring flew off. They bought a metal detector and searched for two days before calling me. I began my search with the 4.5″ Super Sniper Search Coil so I could search easily in some thick brush and under bushes. After approx. 25min of searching and just minutes before a strong thunderstorm struck, I found the ring in leaves under a large bush. Rebecca immediately began crying with joy and gave me a big hug. I just love reuniting lost jewelry with its owner.

Wedding rings recovered at Benona Township Park, Shelby, Michigan

We Have To Be Crazy!! Last night at 8:30 I got a call for a lost ring 1 1/2 hrs north of us. We head out and at 10:00PM we arrived at a bridge over a small river leading to Lake Michigan. Jim and Megan met us at the bridge. Megan lost her wedding rings coming out of the river in about waist deep water. It was pitch dark, raining slightly and thunder and lightning in the distance. Megan used her cell phone light to show us the exact spot where she lost the ring. Jim was dressed for the water so we gave him the metal detector and the scoop. We had him scan his wedding ring and told him to listen for that sound and then dig the target. In about 3 minutes he got a signal and dug a scoop full. Megan shined her light into the scoop and retrieved her ring-speechless at that point. Packing up our gear and heading out safe and sound and a little wet and leaving a very happy couple behind.

St. Christopher medal recovered from Hutchins Lake, Fennville, MI

 I received a call last night from Ryan, stating he had just lost his gold Saint Christopher medal. It was a valuable piece, but priceless to Ryan as it had been his grandfather’s — just talking about the loss kind of choked him up. He had been playing with his daughter in about 3 feet of water when the gold chain broke, and chain and medallion dropped into the water. With some searching he found the chain but not the medal. He had a pretty good idea of where it was lost by lining up landmarks on shore and some boats nearby (good job Ryan). Gregg and I met them within an hour of his call and the search was on. I was on my second leg through that area when I got the unmistakable sound of gold and had it in my scoop. After a few whoops and hollers and some pictures we were headed home after our second successful search this weekend. Picture is Ryan, Melissa and daughter, Shayla.

Rob was sitting near the ocean and lost his wedding ring. The couple searched frantically trying to find it. They even went to Walmart and Best Buy trying to find a metal detector. They ended up ordering one through Amazon. His wife Lauren started searching the internet for help and came across Theringfinders.com! I got a text and I immediately called them and got more info on where the ring was lost and headed down.
