Man’s 14K Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Ocean, Found and Returned Ocean Isle Beach NC

I received a text message from Liz about 10 am on Saturday, Sep 5th, saying, “Hi my name is Liz and I’m at OIB. My husband lost his wedding band in the surf yesterday afternoon. We have a metal detector but haven’t had any luck. Wondering if you might be able to help?” I replied asking her to call me. When she called, I asked her where he lost it. She explained that when he lost it he was about waist deep at high tide. I asked her the time and she said around 3 p.m. I looked at the tide table and saw high tide was around 6 p.m. yesterday, so if he lost it around 3 p.m. then he was about mid tide. I told her I’d be there between 11 and 11:15, which I had to adjust to 11:25 once I got my gear and hit the road. On my way, I thought that if he lost it at waist deep about mid tide, then the ring should be at the low tide line.

When I got to their house, I met Liz and a few family members. Liz walked me out to the beach and said her husband, Bobby, had told her that he was west of their house on the beach. Liz set me up behind the neighbor’s house and said Bobby was from this point – that way, as she’s pointing down the beach. “That way” was a long stretch of beach, so it was time to get started. I grabbed my PI and backed up from her starting point and started a perpendicular grid above the mid tide line seaward to about waist deep. I did that grid search from my starting point to the 4th house west. I wasn’t finding anything, and reached the point of wondering if I was in the right spot, and/or going deep enough to search. I took a quick break and reassessed my thoughts about where it should be. With the information I was given, I was positive his wedding band should be around the low tide line. Did I just miss it, swing left instead of right?  I grabbed my Equinox 800 and started a cross grid search starting about shin deep at the low tide line. As I’m working up the slope of the beach I got a solid 15 on the VDI (visual display indicator). This was in the range of numbers for a man’s gold wedding band. I dug a scoop of sand, had the target, and rinsed the sand out of the scoop in the surf. When I checked the scoop, I could see Bobby’s gold wedding band peeking through the shells from the bottom of the scoop. I had definitely missed it on my first pass. Liz wasn’t out on the beach when I found it, but one of her family members called her, telling her I was done. When Liz came back on the beach, another family member was able to get a video of Liz’s response. Liz was trying so hard to hold back the tears, but she was so excited. Unfortunately, Bobby was playing golf so he wasn’t there to share the excitement, but I’m sure he was happy to get his wedding band back where it belongs.

Lost wallet in the water, Atlantic Ocean, Daytona Beach….Found and Returned to owner!

While searching for a lost silver cross and chain for a young man from Wisconsin, I dug up someones wallet in the knee deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean. That’s not something we find very often and from the looks and condition of the wallet and the contents inside I could tell it had been there for a couple of months, at least. I never did find the silver cross but who knows it may show up yet! Plus that very same day I eyeballed a really nice lady’s diamond ring that is waiting to be reunited with its rightful owner. So after I got home and got myself and my gear all cleaned up I took out the wallet I had found and started going through the contents. First off it had a flat magnet and a flat metal plate sewn inside the wallet that helped keep it in the closed position. And it was those two pieces of metal that helped me find the wallet under all that sand. It contained three credit cards, one Florida Resident fishing license, a drivers license and 52 dollars in bills. Not a bad score for a day at the beach!

Later that evening I did a little investigation on line and found the owner of the wallets family and gave them a call. A few days later the wallet and all the contents were put in an envelope and mailed off to Jacksonville, Florida and here is the response that Coby sent me a week later.

“Hi Mike, I wanted to say thank you so much for sending my wallet, cards and cash back to me in one piece! Although the cards are no longer useful, it is great to have my ID and especially the cash again. My sister Rachel (with me in the picture) told me you washed, dried and ironed it! I appreciate what you do for people and as a Christian man myself, I thank God for people like you! You do the world a service unlike no other and people like you make the world go ’round’! Please let me know if you ever need anything from me. I am truly in your debt and thankful to you and the Lord for this reunion! Take good care of yourself and keep up the wonderful work! PS Here is a picture of myself and my sister Rachel with the items you sent to me. God Bless–Coby”

Kelly messaged me through my Dunedin Ring Finder page after someone referred me from a local discussion page called Palm Harbor Happenings. Earlier that day she and her husband were throwing a football at the beach  when Kelly’s large gold ring given to her by her grandmother flew off her hand into the water. I met Kelly on site the following day at approximately the same tide time and she showed me the area fairly close to a rock breakwater where she thought the ring may have landed. At the time the water was knee to waist deep. I grid searched for a couple of hours while Kelly looked on but only recovered a few coins and some beach trash. Kelly had to go to work so I searched an hour longer but  no luck. I left the beach and returned at low tide later in the day but only recovered a few more coins, fishing weights and a costume jewelry earring. After a long day of searching including around the breakwater, I told Kelly I would return the next day and retrace my steps in the area she had initially pointed out. Late the next afternoon I had been searching for about an hour when I got a steady 9 VDI on the Equinox 600. After a couple of scoops I pulled Kelly’s beautiful ring out of the water! She was ecstatic (followed by seven exclamation points)! I returned this beautiful ring to her the next morning. Kelly, thank you for contacting me and trusting the Dunedin Ring Finder to return your grandmother’s ring to you. And thank you for the generous reward!

Lost Gold Class Ring Found Sea Isle City NJ by Ring Finders South Jersey

Ishmael lost his grandfather’s class ring in Sea Isle City, NJ. The ring flew off his finger while he was throwing a football and landed somewhere in the sand. I started the search with a very large grid area, but it wasn’t there. I had to expand the search area several yards to find the ring.  The sentimental ring  was recovered and returned.

Lost Gold Ring Found On Surf City, NC Beach

Bridget was walking with her friend and a dog along the Atlantic Ocean coastline on a Surf City Beach.  It may have been the dog on the leash but Bridget had felt her birthstone ring slide off of her finger into the high tide wave currents.  She was able to get a quick glimpse of the ring before a wave came in and moved items about.  Bridget called me the very next morning and I headed her way to meet her and her father.  She was very good at knowing the area the ring had come off and the 2nd target I dug was her beautiful gold ring laying under 4 inches of sand.  Bridgette had explained she received this ring on her 21st birthday and it had very special meaning.  I was very happy to see her reaction when she knew I had found it.

Lost wedding ring found in Cumming,Georgia 9-3-2021

We got a call today and went out to find this guys gold & diamond ring. It fell off his finger when his hand was out the window of his car and ended up right on the curb at the start of the grass line. Took about 2 hours to find it but we finally got a hit on it near the curb. Glad we could help him locate it . Nice reward given !

Lost ring in Lake Conway, Orlando, Fl….Found!

Rocco was enjoying the afternoon boating and swimming on Lake Conway with friends when he realized his special designed gold and diamond ring was no longer on his finger. Very few rings match the unique design with so many stunning diamonds and the sheer weight of the ring is very impressive! And it was a couple of factors that caused the ring to disappear into the sandy lake bottom. The first thing was the coolness of the water! As most people know there is shrinking in our hands and fingers when we expose them to cool or cold water. The second thing is activity of some kind! Rocco and his friends were horse playing around and that sort of thing has caused many a ring to end up lost and never to be found again. The third thing was the sheer weight of the ring! A mere flip of his hand in cool, wet water would have been enough to send his ring flying. So when Rocco realized his ring had come off he knew right away who he needed to call. Theringfinders.com! You see…this is not the first time Rocco had lost his ring! In 2020 Rocco was shocked when he felt his ring go flying into the darkness when he threw open the lid on the dumpster behind his apartment. Thankfully he go in touch with me and I was able to find his stunning ring hiding under a large bush. But this time it was in the water…in the middle of a lake! I encouraged Rocco to drop a full can of soda or beer or an anchor, or water bottle…anything that could mark the exact spot. Also if there was a way to tie a floatation device of some kind that would help make it easier to locate. Unfortunately they left a buoy tied to an anchor and someone later that evening came along and pulled it up. As the sun was rising the next morning I was paddling out onto the lake straining my eyes to find that buoy and it was nowhere in sight! Fortunately the water over the sand bar was crystal clear and I could easily see the bottom. So I decided to paddle all across the sandbar, gridding my way looking for anything that would indicate where the anchor was left. After an hour of going back and forth I did find a few items on the bottom. A red cup, a face mask and pieces of paper here and there….and then I spotted a water bottle laying on the bottom. It looked like an older bottle and at first I did not think it had anything to do with the ring…but it was the only water bottle I saw during my search. I finally decided to mark the bottle with one of my pvc poles and later came back to it and put out 4 pvc poles in a square around the bottle. I jumped into the water and started grid searching back and forth between the poles. My first pass netted me a bottle cap and a pull tab and as I turned to make a second pass I got a clear signal and BOOM! There was Rocco’s beautiful ring…sparkling and shining in the morning sun and I thanked God for allowing me to find his lost ring so soon! You talk about being amazed and thankful…I was one very happy Ring Finder!

Lost and Found in Va Beach

I got a text about a lost ring. The owner had already gone home. They told a general area where it was lost. After searching and gridding the area off no luck. I called her for more info and she provided me a pic she took on the beach and 10 minutes later BAM! I mailed it back and she has received it. (Husbands ring) I will add his pic in the future when I receive it. Gigmaster on Youtube

Lost Ring in Virginia Beach Found

Targets on the beach were far and few between but I got a good signal at the water line. As i was digging I noticed a guy in a chair behind me watching. When I brought the ring up he yelled “That’s my ring”. Of course we have all heard that story but he said he lost it yesterday and actually showed me a picture of it on his hand. His wife showed up and I showed it to her before he talked to her and she yelled that looks like your ring! Long story short he got his ring back. Gigmaster on Youtube
