I received a call from Brandon last week asking me if I could find his white gold wedding ring in three feet tall grass. He had lost it while out scouting for a good hunting spot in the bush.  I told him if it was there I would find it.

We agreed to meet this morning and drove out to the spot out in the country, as we drove and got talking Brandon told me it was imperative that the ring was found as he had just been married a month ago.

I asked Brandon how he lost his ring he told me he was brushing the grass off his pants near his jeep when he felt the ring fly off his finger but he had no idea of the direction. For me it was a good clue and with past experience I knew the ring had to be close by.

When we arrived at the location Brandon said the whole terrain had changed stating that the grass was standing at the time he lost the ring, and now all the grass was laying down like a strong wind had blown the grass down or animals had trampled it down.  This made the search a little harder.

After about two hours of searching I heard a fantastic sound in my headphone.  There was his ring well hidden in the grass about ten feet from his Jeep.  I called Brandon over and the expression on his face said it all.  He could not believe his eyes. He was very happy to have his ring back on his finger.

It’s all in the chips! – Lost Ring and Charm Found!

Earlier in the week, Brittnee emailed me that she got married on Labor Day and had lost a large ring and a charm, that were tied to her boot with a ribbon. “Something Borrowed” portion of that phrase that she had from her Grandmother and Mother for the ceremony.

The wedding was at a beautiful rustic place that was covered in wood chips, and while they had searched for the items themselves, they could not find them in the wood chips. Additionally, the place has very limited hours of operation so getting in had to be scheduled.

We agreed to meet this morning, and they met me there. She showed me where they had been sitting and where they were walking around, which was a pretty small area, probably 50 x 75 feet, with picnic benches in part of the area. The staff had moved the benches around since then, so I feared it may be smashed deeper into the wood chips or hard to get at under the tables and benches.

I searched two grid passes in front of where the head table area was and found lots of junk, and coins but no ring. I then decided to search in front of the raised dance floor area and from there into the bench area. After about 30 minutes, I had found it!  The stone was loose, laying next to it, so I know they stepped on it while moving tables etc. but at least it could be repaired. It was a huge ring and beautiful brown stone, that could easily be lost in the chips if more time had passed. I then deduced that the charm couldn’t be too far away so searched more under the tables for that, and about 15 minutes more, I had the charm.

Brittnee and her husband were very happy to have them back, and the Grandmother never knew they were missing either.

I am glad me and my AT-Pro were able to find these and ensure their wedding day will be remembered with a fun story about the ring instead of a sad story of loss.

What a ring return in Brewster, Cape Cod, MA

Gene was pursuing his fishing hobby and had a big trout on the stringer. Little did he know that Cape Cod’s fish are smart and powerful. Yes, the trout pulled the fish stringer free from the rocky area in which it was anchored and started to swim away. Gene’s keen eye caught the movement and was not going to let a fish out swim him. Well, he really was not thinking about swimming but the fish was managing the rocks better than Gene. Gene went down – Dive Number 1 – and he missed to hold onto the trout. Up and after the colorful fish again, OOPS…Dive Number 2 – took place and up came Gene with the trout in hand, BUT without his wedding band. All the movement in the water caused the ring to go into hiding. The resulting search did not reveal the ring’s hiding place in a bit over 2 feet of water.

Days later, while watching TV and the story of Jim Wirth returning a Manhattan University ring to its owner 47 years after it was lost, a search for a RingFinder was on. I was contacted and agreed to go look for the missing wedding band. Wait a minute – Gene wanted to watch the search. Just short of a week later Gene and his wife made arrangements to meet me at the loss location. After a short hike and a 15 minute search I had the ring in my scoop. I walk into shore and let Gene take the golden ring, a symbol of 51 years of marriage, from its temporary resting nest among the rocks in my scoop.

On the walk back to the parking lot I gave Gene a big at-a-boy for his dedication to fishing to feed his family. However, he does not eat the fish he catches. Oh, if Gene only had a trout or two he wanted to give me as a gift. No such luck, maybe I will have to take up fishing again, but then there would be no time for being a RingFinder. Heck here on Cape Cod there is enough fish for everyone. I’ll keep on metal detecting. The people I have met are far more interesting than any fish I ever caught.

After the pictures of smiles were taken and a stories of West Hartford, CT (where I am from) were exchanged we bid our good-byes. Gene had the fish and the ring that did not get away! What a great __ __ __ __ story! – you fill in the blanks, HINT: found on a stringer, or found in my scoop.

Lost Platinum & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring hunt began when I got a tearful cry at work from Keyara who lives in Kapolei Hawaii. While sitting in shallow water with her daughter her gorgeous engagement ring fell off. She reached for it but the sand instantly gobbled it up. While searching on her phone for a ring recovery she came across my contact info first. I told her I could leave work a little early and come out and retrieve her ring. Shallow water should be a cinch! When I arrived Keyara’s husband Tony took me down to the beach and showed me where Keyara was in the water and I began my search. Several coins and a pull tab after about 20 minutes I was beginning to think the target location had to be off. Tony assured me the location was correct. There was really no surge in the lagoon to speak of so on my own I expanded the search grid out in a northerly direction and “BOOM” there was a great platinum tone and one scoop down there was Keyara’s ring. Tony was in shock as he thought his area was correct. No matter the ring is safely and happily back on Keyara’s finger. Aloha to Keyara & Tony!

Wedding Ring Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

I was sitting at home last Sunday afternoon when I received a call from Julian regarding his wedding ring which he lost at the beach playing volley ball. He told me that he dove for the ball when his ring flew off of his finger. He also said that there were about 15 of his friends searching with him for about an hour and a half, using their hands and a rake to no avail. I told him I would come right away, and was on my way.

I got to the court, and Julian came right over to show me the area where he believed the loss occurred. He showed me what had happened, and I told him I would get right on it. I began my first pass, and got a bottle cap. A few swings more, and I had Julian’s ring in my scoop; about 3 minutes total. He was so surprised, and his friends could not believe it. They had scoured that area for 1 1/2 hours, and I had it within minutes. It is so important to call someone right after the loss to increase the chances of a recovery, please don’t wait. It was awesome to see all the shared joy that afternoon; two thumbs up!

Remote And Truck Keys Lost In N/E Edmonton, Alberta

Danny called me this morning requesting my service to locate his keys and remote that he just lost while shoveling gravel in the basement of a new home and it was imperative that they where found before the cement truck came to pour the basement floor. I told Danny I would be there with in a half hour.

I met up with Danny at the house and he showed me the area that he was working in and that the keys could be six to eight inches down in the gravel. I told him no problem, I will find them after a few passes over the gravel.  I found his keys about four inches down. Danny was very happy that the keys where found as replacing them would have been very expensive,  along with a costly tow truck ride to the dealership.

Lost Class Ring Recovered in Elkridge, Maryland!

I received a call from Langston about 2 weeks ago. He informed me that he lost his ring at a local park. I had a good feeling I would be successful in recovering it as he was very confident in where he lost it. I’ll let him tell you the rest in his own words……….

I had a game at Rockburn Park in Elkridge. Being a creature of habit I follow a set routine. Before I change shoes for the game, I always take off my class ring and watch, and put them in the same pocket in my bag and put them back on when the game is over.  After the game I was sitting in my open trunk changing shoes. I put my watch back on but couldn’t find my ring. I figured it must have fallen deeper into my bag and I just figured I’d find it in the light at home.
When I got home I dumped my bag and couldn’t find my ring. I figured it must have fallen out of the pocket on my bag when I was changing. I went to the field the next morning before work and looked for about 30 minutes in the area where I parked the night before with no luck. That afternoon one of my teammates also looked for the ring. I wanted to find the ring as soon as possible. My fear was that once they mowed the grass at the park, the ring would be irretrievable lost. This was my college class ring, and it had considerable sentimental value, especially since this year is the 20th anniversary of my graduation. I was contemplating renting a metal detector, but I did some online research and many said that unless you know what you’re doing, your chances of finding your lost item are slim. Also, this was the day before the Labor Day weekend. I was doubtful that I could find someone to come out, let alone that they would actually find the ring. I called Jim that evening and recalled the details of where I thought I lost the ring and he said he believed there was a good chance we could find it. We agreed to meet at the park first thing in the morning.
When I got to the park the next morning, Jim was already there waiting. I pointed out the areas that I traversed on the night I lost the ring and where I thought the ring probably fell out. Jim put on his headphones and got to work in the area I thought was the likely ring location. Not three minutes after we started, Jim waved me over and pointed down. Sitting in the grass exactly where I’d parked the night of the game was my class ring. I couldn’t believe he found it so fast.  He said that remembering all the details and narrowing down probable locations was the biggest help to him in finding the ring. Also, the park personnel said they normally mow the grass on Thursdays, but for some reason they didn’t that week. Lucky for me they didn’t!! I would definitely recommend Jim to anyone that is looking to retrieve a lost item. He was awesome!!!

Lost Property Corners and Sprinkler Lines Found in Southfield Michigan

Got a call from a nice lady (not pictured) inquiring about locating property corners and sprinkler lines in order to install a fence for her wonderful and affectionate pit pup. Located them with no problem with my Sidewinder metal detector. So now this cool dog will be able to enjoy the nice yard.

Lost Platinum Wedding Ring Potters Green Edmonton, Alberta

I received  a call late last evening form David requesting my service to locate his lost wedding band at the neighbourhood playground while he was play with his children.  I scheduled a meeting with him at 8:30 am this morning.  David told me how his ring flew off his finger and he spent a lot of time in the immediate area searching for his ring in the sand with no luck at all. With my experience and of past searches I knew his ring had to be within six feet from the immediate area.

Within five minutes of meeting David, I found his ring and he couldn’t believe that his ring flew that far from the area he was initially looking at.

David was very happy to have his ring back on his finger, thank you David.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

This ring find actually began on Friday August 25th when I got a call from Daniel who lives in Sacramento California and was attending a convention on Oahu. While playing catch with a football on the beach his brother Albert caught the ball but in doing so his Gold Wedding Band flew off into the dry sand. The brothers attempted looking for it but with darkness fast approaching Aloha Security told them to call me. It was dark when I arrived but Daniel’s phone and the bright moon was enough to see what we were doing. They had drawn a grid in the sand for me prior to getting there so I was able to go to work immediately. I searched the entire grid and the ring wasn’t in it. Daniel had me expand the search towards the grass but still no ring. It couldn’t have just disappeared! I started expanding the grid search in the other direction and “Ka Pow” that signal blew my ears off. A second later and one scoop down there in the moonlight was Albert’s Gold Ring in my scoop. Daniel couldn’t believe it was so far away from where Albert had caught the ball. Albert had already left to tell his wife he lost the ring so the brothers were joking Albert just might get out of trouble tonight after they meet up at their rooms. As you can see Albert is quite the ham but happy to have his ring back. Aloha to Albert and his brothers!
