Lost Ring Longboat Key, Recovered By SRARC

Carlos and family joined the extended family for a reunion on Longboat Key this week. They were enjoying the day on the beach and in the early afternoon decided to toss a football around in the water. As Carlos tossed the ball he saw his wedding ring fly off his finger and disappear into the gulf. The whole family searched for a couple hours but could not find it. After giving up the search they all came together at a local restaurant for dinner. Harold, Carlos’s uncle, started asking the waiters if there was someone local that had a metal detector. They soon learned about SRARC ring finders and Harold found us on the internet and called. A meet was setup for the following morning and Mike Miller showed up to try his luck. Carlos knew right where it came off and after a few minutes of hunting up came the ring. It was soon returned to Carlos’s finger amid lots of cheers and smiles. It’s always a great feeling when we get to return a precious item to the owner.

Look Out For That Wave, Lost Ring Recovered In Bradenton Beach, Florida

Alec was at the beach with family and decided to take a swim and sit down out in the ocean on a shallow area when along came a wave from behind that knocked in to him and pulled his ring off his finger. The entire family came out to help Alec look for his ring. They searched for some time and were amazed how quickly it could disappear and figured it was lost forever. Alec made some mental notes on where he was and googled lost ring and metal detectors on line and came across the SRARC website where he got in contact with Stan Flack. Stan quickly sent out some text to find a team member to try and find Alec’s ring. After some searching, team member Jim Thobe answered the call and agreed to meet Alec at the beach a few days later. Wedding Ring Lost & Then Recovered

Kayl and Stephanie were visiting their grandparents for a short relief from the winter weather in Chicago. It was a windy cold day but Kyle wanted to get into the gulf waters anyway. He ventured out into the rough water and was just contemplating put his head under the water when he saw is wedding ring of 6 months fall to the bottom of the gulf. He was devastated and started looking for it with his toes. After an hour he gave up and they went home.

They found The Ring Finders site on the internet and contacted Stan Flack. Stan posted their request to the SRARC Ring Finders group and Mike Miller relayed it to Jay and Karen Ganz. They met Kayl and Stephanie at the location and Karen did her best in the rough water to find it but was not successful. Karen rescheduled for the next calm water day and Mike met her in Englewood. After about 2 hours Mike was lucky enough to find the ring about 8 inches deep.

When Karen contacted Stephanie she could not believe we had found it. They had given up hope. Jay and Karen connected with Kayl and Stephanie’s Grandparents and returned the ring to them. They sent it on to Kaly and as you can see, the result is nothing but smiles.

He lost his wedding ring at the beach.

However, after packing up, she soon realized they were not in the pouch!  The couple contacted SRARC and Ring Finder member Wayne Cree went on the hunt. Jennifer had the spot marked and Wayne thought he was super lucky when he immediately found a dime, then a penny! About five minutes later, Wayne found the first ring and thirty seconds later, the second ring. Needless to say, Jennifer & Eddie were thrilled.  Way to go, Wayne. Keep the change!

Lost Heirloom Ring Recovered Sand Castle Lido Beach, Florida

Grace and her husband were down for a family reunion from Indiana for the week. On Friday afternoon, she decided to swim out to join her Mom and Dad on the sandbar in front of their hotel. Shortly after arriving she felt the ring that her grandmother had given her slip off her finger! The ring was special to Grace because her grandmother had chosen it for her from jewelry that she had had for many years. Since Grace’s grandmother was there with the family it was especially hard to tell her it was lost.

The family searched the sandbar for hours but could not find it. That night Grace did a search on Google “what to do when you lose a ring in the ocean” and up popped SRARC. She emailed the web site and Stan Flack contacted her. Stan called Mike Miller to see if he could meet her before they had to leave at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. Mike met her and got the details for the search. She said it was just up on front part of the first sandbar and off Mike went to the area she pointed to. It didn’t take long for Mike to figure out he could not walk out to the first sandbar. He had never attempted to swim with his detector and scoop but there is always a first time for everything so off he went. With a little effort, he made it and about 10 minutes later the ring came up in his scoop. The return trip was a little more difficult and he was out of breath when he finally touched bottom again. He does not recommend that anyone try that unless they have a float device so they won’t get into trouble. Grace and all her family were all very happy and amazed that the ring was recovered. SRARC is just as happy to have had the opportunity to help put a smile back on their faces! Well done, Mike! We are all glad you’re an excellent swimmer!

Wedding Ring Lost, Found and Returned at Siesta Key Beach, Florida

Kyla and Kyle were on a family vacation at Siesta Key from North Carolina. Kyla shared with Mike and I the family members on their trip were having a streak of bad luck. Their turn came at 3 PM on Saturday when Kyle was swimming in the gulf. Kyle was out in the gulf throwing a ball around and at one point digging for shells. Kyle had the location we should search locked down in his mind and came out into the gulf to show Mike and I the areas to hunt. Mike and I searched the chest to waist deep water first as that is where Kyle felt he lost the ring.

After searching the depths for a good while in the rough surf we decided to make our way closer to the beach as Kyle felt there was a possibility he lost it there.  As Mike and I were making our way over a sand bar I got a strong hit. Two scoops later up came Kyle’s ring. Kyle’s ring was unique; it has a sapphire on the inside of the band. Kayla explained it is there for good luck

Wedding Ring Lost Found and Returned at Holmes Beach, Anna Maria Island, Florida

Steve and Emily were visiting Anna Maria Isand from Chicago for a little R & R from the winter weather. They set a couple of lounge chairs up on the beach and sat down to put on their sun protection. Steve pulled his weeding ring of and set it on his lap, then proceeded to apply the lotion. A few minutes later he felt the urge and got up to go the the restroom. About 20 steps later he remembered he had not returned his ring to his finger. He quickly returned to his chair and began searching the sand for his wedding ring. His wife, Emily, soon joined the search sifting through the sand with her fingers. They had no luck so Steve googled “metal detector rental” and up popped SRARC. He called Mike who was in downtown Bradenton at the time and they agreed to meet as soon as Mike could get down to the beach. Thirty minutes later Mike arrived and Steve lead him to the spot where they had been sitting. In a few swings, bada bing, and the ring was returned to Steve. We had lots of smiles and some cheering from the beach crowd as he returned it to his finger.

Wedding Ring Set Lost, Found, and Returned on Anna Maria Island, Florida

Nellie and Her husband Austin were on Anna Maria Island from Battleground, Washington for spring break and a family reunion. The whole family had walked to the beach for a little fun in the sun Florida style. They set up camp on the beach and soon Nellie’s mother walked into the water. Feeling a little frisky Nellie followed her in and knowing the water was a little cool, She started to splash it up on her mother and the reaction was as you would expect.. A short time later, after things calmed down, Nellie sensed her hand felt a little lite. Looking down she saw that her wedding set was missing. The whole family gathered around and searched frantically for the ring. After an hour Nellie’s brother did a search for lost rings on the internet and up popped SRARC. Mike Miller and Paul Hill were available to meet the family right away while they were still at the beach and after receiving instructions they went to work. In just a few minutes Mike was the lucky one to find the ring. He held it up and they couldn’t believe it had been found. Everyone on the beach cheered and clapped and Mike got a big hug from Nellie. Austin got the ring and went down on his knee and proposed to Nellie all over again. We were all smiling about this perfect ending. SRARC is happy to bring a happy ending to the reunion and give them a story to talk about at their next reunion.
