I got a call from Liz a rising star, on Monday morning 7/18/2016 hoping that I could help her find her lost Engagement Ring … they were out late swimming in the ocean the night before…I jumped into action immediately, because here on the east coast, we have tides to contend with… within an hour I was on the beach with 3 people that were really hoping that I could pin point the ring … ( No Pressure there…LOL )  They put me in the general area, I went to work, and literally 3 holes and only 5 minutes into the hunt there it was laying there on top of the sand … Liz, is an up and coming Star Actress from NY… She was extremely happy to have the ring back and she sent me 2 front row tickets to her play they were doing over the weekend… Thank You Liz, for letting me be the one to rejoin a special Diamond Ring back to you… A friend always Leighton..

Two weeks ago, on a beautiful Thursday night complete with high tide and the full moon, some friends and I went for a midnight dip in the bay. We all worked for Cape Rep Theatre in Brewster, so this little patch of the bay, a mere stroll from the theater, is a favorite spot for all of us, even a place of nostalgia for summers past.
I run to the water, dive in, and as soon as I emerge I realize my engagement ring is no longer on my finger. I say, “Guys, not to cause any alarm but my engagement ring fell off…” next thing I know my friends Val and Amanda and diving and desperately swatting at the water and sand, to no avail. Realizing it’s useless to look for a ring at high tide in total darkness, we head back to the beach and I gather my things to head home, trying my best to stay positive, “We’ll come back at low tide! It’s just a ring! I’m fine! At least it’s in a place I love!” Of course I was so upset and holding back a waterfall of tears. I had gone swimming a dozen times with this ring on my finger! Why this time!?
While I was sulking back to the house, Lewis, another witness to the loosing, paced back out into the water so he could mark on the beach the general area of bay it must be in, and Amanda began a desperate internet search for a metal detector and what did she come across but Ring Finders!
I get up at 6am to begin my low tide search, immediately realizing there’s no way I will find it with bare eyes and hands. So I email the one and only Leighton Harrington, hoping beyond hope he decides I’m a cause worth helping. Sure enough, he calls!!! We have a window of a few more hours of low tide, in which the bay is almost devoid of water, prime searching conditions. Lewis and Amanda are back on the beach, who also couldn’t resist the urge to just keep looking. Lewis does a grid walk of the area, we jam a stick in the sand where we feel like it fell off, and we wait for our knight with a metal detector.
Leighton arrives with his gear and a positive attitude. He was so confident and upbeat I had a hard time believing him when he said, “there’s no guarantee we’ll find it.” We show him the area and had a good laugh at our plotting and stick markers. In less than 5 minutes Leighton had come across 3 spots that could be a small white gold object. The first beep was a nail, the second was an old cap, and the third beep made him stop and take off his headphones to beckon me over. “Liz, I think you’ll want to come over here.” My heart was beating out of my chest, I was so nervous! Sure enough he scoops up some sand, spreads it out, and before I see the glimmer I hear Amanda yell, “OH MY GOD!” and sure enough, a diamond ring, MY diamond ring, was in the pile of sand. We all burst into tears, hugged each other, and took a million photos. I was so ready to say goodbye to it forever, the elation of finding it was indescribable. Leighton had the tools, the knowledge, and the personality, to find the ring and make me feel like everything was going to be ok! We thanked him with tickets to our play which was closing that weekend.
Thanks to Lewis, Amanda, Val and of course, Leighton Harrington, I still have my ring, which I love now more than ever! My husband’s response to all of this, by the way, was simply, “Thank God it wasn’t your wedding band!”. As he would have taken that as a terrible omen. Liz Tancredi

Diamond Stud Earring Lost at Hermosa Beach, CA…Found and Returned with Elation.

I received an email from Carli last night about 10:15 asking if I could help her find her lost diamond stud earring she lost at the beach in the sand. I have been on enough searches for stud earrings to know that they are one of the most difficult items to find, in fact most detectors won’t even pick them up, and I made sure I let her know this upfront. I asked her about the spot of the loss, and she said it was lost on the towel line, which the county mechanically cleans on this beach daily, so I knew that this search was important. Carli was thinking early the next morning, when I told her I would meet her at the beach in 30 minutes, because of the type of search and the fact that there were too many factors that could make finding such a small item harder by the hour. We agreed to meet last night, and I was on my way.

I arrived just after 11:00, and she took me out to the spot. I had told Carli that the closer she could get me to the area would increase the likelihood of a recovery. She told me the earring came off her right ear when she was removing a piece of clothing so she had focused her search in that area earlier in the day. I told her though that I was going to search a wider area, because I have experienced that jewelry does weird things when it comes off. I found a few items such as foil, and a bobby pin, that Carli identified as hers. About 11:30, I was in an area that was to the left of her original position by about 10 feet when I received a good signal. I dug with my plastic trowel, and delicately shook the sand from the curved surface, when something sparkled. Carli’s husband said in the darkness with the flashlights that the sparkle caught his eye as well even as he was standing a few feet away. I reached down and then held up the earring Carli had lost. She expressed a considerable amount of excitement, saying “it was like a needle in a haystack”, which it truly was. The earrings I later found out had been given to her for a birthday present, what more can be said; the story continues. The attached picture says it all. Glad to be a maker of smiles.

Knee deep surf and 2 scoops down was a class ring! It was recovered using my Excalibur II. After 20 minutes of Internet searching and 2 phone calls, the ring was set to be returned. Devon lost the ring in the high tide surf throwing seaweed at friends. 2 weeks later, I found the ring and happened to work 20 miles from Valley Forge Military Academy where Devon is working a summer camp and also graduated. The ring was returned! Devon said that he thought he would never see it again!

Lost Platinum & Gold Wedding Band at Four Seasons Resort Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

While Metal Detecting the lagoon for a Gold Wedding band I was approached by a gentleman named Joey Sparks who said his Brother-In-Law Brian from San Clemente, California lost his Platinum & Gold Wedding Band in chest deep water not too far from where I was hunting. I told him if I found it I’d track them down. Joey said they would be around the pool all day. I continued on my search. After about five minutes I got an air raid siren of a tone while I was in neck deep water. It was all I could do to stay in position to dig the target. After about the fourth dig I had the target in the scoop. As the scoop broke the surface of the water I could see Brian’s huge Platinum & Gold ring in the bottom. Great I went to the area Joey said they would be and no one was around. I continued my hunt and after about thirty minutes a man called me from the shore, “Are you Brian?” I asked. Yes, are you Joe and did you find my ring? Yes, and matter of fact I did. A look of relief came over Brian’s face and he told me he had looked for a very long time the day before. I let him know his ring was buried and no way he would have seen it. We shook hands and I knew another tourist was going home with a smile. Aloha to Brian and Joey for finding me.

Diamond Wedding Band Lost at Venice Beach, CA…Recovered and Joyously Returned.

I got a call from Rose this afternoon about a ring she lost in the sand at the beach. She had taken her rings off to apply sunscreen, and not remembering they were on her shirt, she kind of flipped it over head to place it behind her, and the rings (5 in all) went flying. A couple of them landed on her, but 3 were gone. She searched, and was able to find 2 more, but the diamond band was elusive. I told her that I would leave immediately.

When I arrived parking was a bear, but I finally got to her location, and she showed me what had happened. I moved everything out of the way to search, and began. I was getting feedback from her sand chair, so I moved it out of the way, and was looking down right at the ring. I reached down and handed it to her. She was very surprised, because she had already looked in the same place, so maybe the movement of the chair when she replaced it, and when I moved it out of the way shifted the sand in such a way that it was exposed again. Needless to say Rose was very happy to have it back, and had that load of the loss removed. Great day.

Platinum Wedding Band Lost at Venice Beach, CA…Found and Joyfully Returned to Florida.

Back on July 15th Joanna sent me a text asking for my help. She and her family had been down at Venice Beach 5 days prior, where her husband had removed his ring to apply sunscreen and laid it in the grass where they were sitting. When they got back to the hotel where they were staying he realized the ring was gone. They called some of the places back on the beach to see if someone could go and find it for them, with no luck. I told Joanna, that in such a public place, with so much time having gone by, that the chances of finding the ring had diminished considerably. I asked her to call me so I could ask her about the loss, when she told me that she and the family had already gone back to their home in Florida. I asked if she could help me narrow down the search area, and she sent me pictures of the place, and where they were sitting when her husband removed the ring; I knew right where the area was, and told her I would go and search the next day.

When I arrived at the spot it turned out to be rather small with good grass growth, so I was a bit hopeful. I began my search, and found numerous items, but all too deep to have been the ring, so I just kept searching. I then received a good shallow signal, and used my pinpointer to verify the signal, and found the ring. Needless to say I was very excited, it was a big solid platinum ring, and I could see the engraving that Joanna had told me about. I took the attached picture, and sent it to Joanna, saying “You’ll never believe what was still there after 6 days.” She wrote “Oh my God”, and “I’m shaking”, and I answered that I know, I almost did a dance right there in front of everyone.

She had worked and saved her money to buy that ring for her future husband, so the meaning behind it was deep. I sent it off to her, and when she received it she sent me the attached picture of her and the ring. What she thought was lost forever, was now safely back in their family. I am so happy to have helped them out, and honored that she trusted me, someone she had never met to do this search for her. I was definitely blessed to receive a picture like this with a great and happy smile. Joanna posted the story on Facebook, and it went viral. Lost Wedding Rings Found in Spokane Valley

The call: Sherrel had lost her two wedding rings while pulling weeds in her garden. It was 8:30 pm when she called me so I begged my Sweet wife to let me go to Sherrel’s house that night. I gave Sherrel a call back and told her my family and I were all coming over so I can find her rings as fast as she had lost them.

 

The Search: Arriving at the house at O’ dark thirty, I quickly geared up and put on my head lamp. I knocked on the door we said our hello’s then I was shown the garden where the loss took place. The garden was a ten by ten area including the grass which was  3/4 of the ten by ten area. So to eliminate the easiest space I gridded the grass. I got one signal at 4 inches and knew that her rings were not going to be that deep. The little garden was next on the list but it had a few unwanted metal guests. I and Sherrel’s husband removed the solar lights and the lawn ornaments. As I weaved through the foliage I heard a strong tone with a vdi of 23. Out came the Whites trx to help me search. I followed the beeps up into the middle of the bush. As I looked through the plant I saw not one but two golden rings nestled in the lilacs.

 

The Reaction: I am still a little new at finding people’s rings so I flipped out. I tried to snatch the rings from the bush so fast that I missed one of them. So I ran back to the bush and then back to Sherrel with the rings in hand screaming “guess what?” and “thank you Lord”. Of course all of this excitement from my end confused Sherrel and her husband so when I  said I had found the rings they didn’t believe me right way until they were safely back on Sherrels hand.

 

The Rings Story: These Rings needed to be back on Sherrels hand more than most I feel. See the rings had been on her hand for 40 years. Along with that provenance, they were made in Egypt. Sherrel’s husband was from Egypt and while she was working there they met. Sherrels husband had the finest Arminian jeweler in the land, hand make the plain band, and then had another stone placed in the solitaire ring that Sherrel had received from her work.

KELOWNA LOST RING FOUND & RETURNED

Karen was playing ball with her granddaughter when she noticed her 14k gold ring was gone. The ring was promised to be given to the granddaughter, she spent one hour on her hands and knees in the grass searching for it, with no luck. She tearfully called me and I responded right away, I told her I would find it, in the grass and knowing the location would make it easy.  Within 10 minutes she had the ring back on her finger.
