Young assistant recovers lost ring in Clearwater Beach.

Arizona couple, Michael and his wife Katlyn, were spending vacation time in Clearwater Beach.  While tossing a ball in the water at the hotel’s private beach, Katlyn dove for the ball and sadly watched her wedding band fall off into the water. Michael found our club online and contacted Tom Jones, who passed on the information to Howard Metts. Howard called Michael and set up a time to meet before they left for the airport.

Howard started hunting in the area he was directed to hunt in (chest to neck deep water) and retrieved three targets, but not the ring.  Connor, who was visiting from Michigan with his family, was swimming in the search area with goggles.  After an hour of hunting and just before Mike and Kat were to leave for home, Connor popped up and said “is this what your looking for”?  In his hand was the ring Howard had been searching for!  Mike and Kat were very grateful for Howard’s efforts and to young Connor for coming up with the ring.  Nice work, Connor! You may have just found yourself a lifetime hobby, too!   Thanks for helping.

CLEARWATER BEACH RING LOST THEN RECOVERED IN FOUR LAPS

Lacy & Brian were enjoying Clearwater Beach on this hot 4th of July weekend. When Lacy went to apply sun tan lotion, she dropped her wedding band and it ricocheted off the lounge chair.  After searching the fine sand for over an hour, the couple decided to Google “lost ring Clearwater Beach” and happened upon SRARC!  Lacy called team member, Stan Flack, who said he could be there in 30 minutes. Stan found the ring in less than a minute and Lacy had her ring back on her hand! All were thrilled and happy they found SRARC!  A special assist to Linda Flack, for rolling Stan out close to the couple’s location and circling the block on an impossible Sunday to find parking on Clearwater Beach!

All Is Not Lost On Honeymoon Island, Platinum Wedding Ring Recovered

Nicole and Darren were playing catch in the water on Honeymoon Island, enjoying the Fourth of July weekend. Darren had his ring hand in the water and threw the ball with the opposite hand. After a time, the platinum wedding band slid off his hand into the water.  Nicole helped him search for the ring, to no avail.   Nicole found the SRARC website on her phone and contacted Howard Metts, to see if he could help. After receiving permission from the park ranger, Howard Metts and Dimitur Alipiev met Nicole and Darren at the beach and three hours later, started the search for the ring. The hunt lasted for over an hour before Howard finally found a good target, which turned out to be the ring! Darren and Nicole were overjoyed and very appreciative of SRARC and their volunteers for finding their cherished ring. Nicely done, Howard & Dimitur!

Lost Ring Recovered With Help From Google Earth at Ft. Desoto Beach

Charles and his family were over from Tampa enjoying a day at Ft. DeSoto Beach.  Once in the water, Charles decided to put his wedding ring in a zippered pocket for safe keeping. As soon as he got it off his finger, it slipped out from his hands into the waist deep water! Charles’ wife searched the web for a metal detector and soon found and contacted SRARC.  Wayne responded to the call and arranged for some team members to search the next day. Mike Miller & Paul Hill spoke to Charles to get details as to where to begin the search.  Charles asked if a Google Earth photo would help? Absolutely! With this information, Mike & Paul set out to divide and conquer! Each man took an end of the area and worked their way to the other.  Less than two passes later, Paul had the ring in his scoop! A call was made and Charles drove over to pick up his “precious” as he called it.  Charles thanked the team profusely and as he was leaving he claimed “I’ve got my MOJO back!” We are happy for your Charles! Thanks Mike & Paul for being there for him.

Lost ring Oxnard Shores

Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to try and find a wedding/engagement ring lost on Thanksgiving weekend on the beach at Oxnard shores, just south of the Channel Islands Harbor. This is a beautiful location known for it’s quiet streets, multi-million dollar homes and simply just an awesome stretch of beach. Cathie, my client relayed to me how she had lost the ring, she was relaxing on her beach towel, took her ring off for a minute and forgot it was on the towel. She got up to leave, shook out her towel and launched the ring. This began her series of unfortunate events. She realized when she got home the ring was gone so she and a friend went back using a colander to try and find it. That didn’t work so she got a friends metal detector and she and her friend tried to use it to no avail. Since this was now the end of fall the county begins the process of beach replenishment and right in her rings flight path was a giant 5 foot tube used to transport sand from the dredge. All of this and the most rain and storms we’ve had in 6 years of drought had made the ring virtually disappear.

6 months later Cathie posted an ad on craigslist and we met up to try and find the ring. I spent 4 hours gridding with my CTX 3030 an ever larger area around the lifeguard tower but couldn’t find the ring. Since I hate to quit anything I promised I’d come back with my Pulse Induction machine as it reaches deeper and retry the area. Again I came back and re-gridded the same area with my pulse and found some items buried 24+ inches but none were her wedding ring. As with any hunt it’s never over until it’s over and I promised Cathie as I’m in the area I’d watch for erosion and if I see a change in the sand structure I’ll hit it again.

Every new attempt at recovery is a learning experience for my clients. Cathie realized that had she thought of calling myself or any other ringfinder her chances at a positive outcome would have greatly increased. Learning to use a metal detector is the same as learning a new language. She found out that learning what her friends metal detector was saying was a lot like trying to interpret what R2D2 is trying to say if you’re not a Jedi.

If you have lost an important piece of jewelry or a sentimental ring don’t hesitate to call a ringfinder right away. We are experts at using metal detecting equipment and if you put is in the right place you’ll likely get your ring back.
