Ring lost at Ocean Beach Found.

Bradford and his wife were visiting from out of town and enjoying a day at the beach on the 4th until Bradford lost his wedding ring in the late afternoon in ankle deep water. It disappeared into the sand and no way it would be found with the naked eye.100_1456 100_1457 They returned the next morning hoping they could spot it, but, it was not to be. They saw several people with metal detectors searching the beach that morning, but, nobody had found it. Some even tried to help by searching the target area, but, the ring didn’t show itself. Disappointed, They went home.

I got the call for help on the 6th, and, even though I thought it likely someone had already found it, I heading down to the beach to give it my best, and ease their minds that it wasn’t still just laying there. After close to an hour of carefully gridding the area and not a single target (good or bad!), I figured my assessment was correct and the area had been hammered by other detectorists. Just then, my Excalibur gave me a nice big signal, and low and behold, it was Bradford’s ring! Surprise and satisfaction for me, and happiness for Bradford. He and his wife drove down today and were reunited with the ring. A pleasure meeting you both and thank you for the reward.

Lost Blue and White Diamond Ring .. Point Dume State Beach, Malibu, CA. .. Found

Richard and Ariel had come to Malibu from Modesto, CA. for a graduation ceremony of a family member. After the event many members of the family and other friends went to Point Dume State Beach for a good old fashion beach party.
Playing volleyball on the sand Ariel felt her ring fly off her finger. This ring was very sentimental as she had helped her grandfather pick this ring to give to her grandmother many years ago. After her grandfather past away, her grandmother gifted it to her. She was devastated. Several hours of searching with their hands proved unsuccessful.
This part of the State Beach is a couple hundred feet below the cliff side with several hundred steps to access the beach. Another new beach for me, another adventure. Celphone reception is not very good. They had to hike to the top to call me.. After hearing the story, I told them there was a very good chance to find the ring, but I need somebody to stand by to show me the general area. It looked like I could meet them before it got dark.
The women left and Richard, Ariel’s fiancé stayed with four of the guys to guide me. It took about a half hour to grid the area they thought the ring could be. I was nearing the end of my grid, thinking about setting up a cross grid. Everybody was getting up tight, then a solid sound very close to the water line and 30 ft. from where they thought her ring flew off.
It was another joyous moment and I took time to get photos. A beautiful classy ring that Richard said was a blue Stone with 3 white diamonds on each side. Too nice to be lost forever in the sand because they didn’t know about TheRingFinders.com. Then they had to listen to me tell ring search stories, as we hiked up the trail to our cars. They had to return to 250 miles by car to Modesto, CA. the next day and while traveling Ariel called me to personally thank me.

Platinum wedding band lost, Cocoa Beach, Florida……Found!!

I received an e-mail and a phone call from Trisha in Minneapolis, Minnesota saying she found my name on theringfinders web site and explained to me that her husband had lost his wedding ring in the water at Cocoa Beach and could I help? I assured Trisha that I am always willing to help, but a big part of being successful at finding people’s lost rings is in the information given to us about where and when and how the ring was lost. The more precise the answers to these questions the more the chances go up of finding ones precious lost item. Trisha explained that she could send me photos of the area where the ring was lost with possible GPS coordinates.
Later that evening I was able to go on Google Maps and type in the GPS numbers and low and behold it gave me an exact location as to where the father-in-law was standing when he took the pictures on the beach! With this information I was able to zoom in on the aerial view and calculate how many feet from the 2nd boardwalk it would be to the exact spot where the photo was taken

All week the surf had been very rough with a strong north current and the soonest I could get down to Cocoa Beach would be on Friday, and the surf would be only 1 to 2 feet. I was excited to be on my way! I packed up 2 wet suits, scuba boots, pvc marking poles, beach chair, metal detectors, scoops, etc… I arrived at the beach and bundled up as best I could against the 60 degree water and stiff winds. And after pacing out my calculations, I set up my chair and proceeded to put poles out into the water as well. From the photos it appeared the camera angle was pointing a bit south so I marked out an area roughly 70X70 yards and began by grid search. Using the technique Chris Turner recommends by backing into the surf to keep your lines straight and overlapping, I covered the area in about 2 hours—but NO RING! I felt sure it was there but figured I needed to expand my search further north because of the strong current and high winds. And sure enough, after 3 passes I found the ring in waist deep water under 4 inches of sand! I was shaking as I collected my stuff and headed to the shower to change. The shaking was not only from being cold but was with the excitement of finding another lost ring and the anticipation of returning it to Trisha and her very surprised husband–Josh!!

You see, Josh and his father and two brothers had come to Daytona to see the races and spend some time at the beach. And returning home without his 12 year old wedding ring was extremely hard! So his dear wife, Trisha, decided she would surprise Josh and that’s where this story–our story begins! I never would have come close to finding Josh’s ring without Trisha’s help and those GPS numbers.

The following day I went to the UPS office and mailed their ring 2 day delivery and thankfully this story has a very happy ending! Trisha wanted to include me in the surprise so Monday evening I was able to talk to Josh on the phone and explain who I was and what we do–along with all the details. And as I got to the part of the story where I found the ring, Trisha was able to hold out her hand and actually give him his own ring–the very one he lost exactly one week earlier in the Atlantic Ocean–1,625 miles away! I would love to have seen his face when she handed him his ring! Hey?!! And that is what theringfinders is all about!
It was an absolute honor and thrill to help Trisha and Josh get their ring back! And thank you so much for your most generous reward!

Lost man’s white gold ring…Summerfield, Florida….Found!!

On Saturday I received a call from Mr. Sal about looking for a lost ring. Apparently, after taking down his Christmas decorations, he noticed that his white gold ring was no longer on his little finger. He said he usually only wears it when they go out and on special occasions, but figured he could take down the decorations and just leave it on because they had plans to go out later that evening. As he was finishing putting things away he realized his ring was missing. (This white gold ring with a blue sapphire was given to Sal as a graduation gift from his parents over 60 years ago and it held allot of sentimental value in his heart and mind.) So Sal began looking through the decorations thinking maybe it dropped into one of the bags or boxes. Then he went outside to check the yard and grass and even the stone areas, thinking it could have dropped off there. But NOTHING!
Sal then began checking around where he could rent a metal detector and finally found a store. So he called and talked to one of the sales representatives, who informed Sal that this particular store was up in Boston, MA. and it would be quite expensive to ship a metal detector down to Florida and all. The sales rep. then told Sal about a group called Theringfinders that helps people find their lost rings and surely there would be someone in the Central Florida area that could help him out. And that’s how Sal found me!
I arranged to meet Mr. Sal on Sunday at his home and he showed me the areas where he took down his decorations. It was a relatively small area and it took only 15 minutes or so to cover the most likely spots with my DFX–but I was unable to find his ring. Mr. Sal then mentioned that he had particular trouble around the metal light post getting the string of lights untangled. So I decided to check the base of the post again. This time I got a faint signal on the street side and dropped to my knees and pulled out my trusty Garrett pin pointer–(Thank you Chris!!). And sure enough, there under the thick grass was Sal’s beautiful ring. I stuck the ring on my finger and held it up for Sal to see and the look on his face was priceless!!

Wedding Band Recoveries in the Water at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel, Mauna Lani, Big Island Hawaii

Logan and Samantha had been swimming in the lagoon at midnight after a work conference at The Fairmont Orchid Hawaii on the Big Island, Hawaii. They, along with friends and colleagues, had been having fun in the water after a work wrap-up party.

Sam realized her wedding band had slipped off her finger into the dark water. But she quickly realized she’d lost not just one but two rings! Her engagement ring must have come off first – but she had no idea where that had been lost – in the water, on the shore – where?!? Her wedding band now also seemed lost in the dark forever.

We got “the call” the next morning and arrived at the small bay an hour before noon to search for the lost rings. Sam looked distraught and Logan looked really unhappy at the situation of his unhappy wife!
We started looking right away, with Sylvie searching the shallows with her Garrett Sea Hunter and me going a little deeper in the water with my Minelab Excalibur II.

The Fairmont Hotel has little water movement so our biggest concern to recovering the ring was that fact that it was so late in the afternoon already – maybe the beach had been searched earlier that morning and the rings had been found by treasure hunters!

After an hour of carefully detecting back-and-forth I suddenly hit a strong signal. There had been no other solid signals until then, deepening our fears that the area had already been detected. I scooped the signal in the water – nothing – then scooped again. A diamond-encrusted wedding band was in the scoop! Logan ran over and while happy for the find, was now concerned to find the second, more valuable engagement ring. We continued to search – going over and over the area we thought it was in.

Sylvie expanded the search area and signaled that she’d found something under the sand. Her detector does not discriminate between metal objects like mine does, so she dug in the sand (under about 2 feet of water with her long-handled scoop), not sure if she’d be pulling out a bottle cap or a ring.

Sylvie looked into the basket of her scoop and grabbed something and held it high for Logan and Sam to see who were down the beach. The entire beach – even the beach bar – all started clapping! Sylvie held a large, gleaming two-carat engagement ring in her fingers. The beachgoers must have been watching the long hunt and the applause was great, but seeing Sam reunited with her treasures – and Logan’s praise and relief were worth a million!

Sylvie always says that we’re in the Business of Saving Marriages This time it really was our own ‘married teamwork’ that saved the day with one ring-recovery each!

Gold Wedding Band Found Edmonton Garrison Play Park

4:00 Pm  Justin called me yesterday and said my name was referred to him from a previous client. he lost his wedding band in the park while he was playing with his daughter and would it be possible for me to help him find it? after asking Justin a bunch of question about the ring and location I agreed to meet up with him @ 5:30.

Arrived at the location and meet Justin he pointed to the park and said that he was playing at three play ground and on the hill, I started first at the site nearest to his yard did a grid search with no luck at that location walked over to the second play area and did a grid search checked around the swings which I would say that would be the most logical place for the ring to be. Found all kinds of clad and junk then I received a sweet sound of gold there buried in about 3 inches of sand was Justin ring. Walked back to Justin as he was coming towards me I asked him if the ring had any distinguish marks on the ring and he said there is a inscription on the inside of the ring and I said to him is it Forever Bear and I watched the reaction on his face he said  you found it.

Another happy client.

Lost Platinum Diamond Engagement Ring in Toronto Ontario…Found!

DIAMOND RINGHad a great Toronto Ring Finders call last night from a husband explaining that his wife could not stop crying about her Diamond Platinum Engagement Ring she had just lost. Kim had been out walking the dog along a local path that night and when she got home noticed her beautiful ring was missing off her her hand. She looked throughout the house and finally realized she must have lost it outside along the 1/2 mile walk she was on. The weather in Toronto has been quite cold for April and the cold temperature must have made her hands shrink. With flashlight in hand Kim headed out in the pitch dark and went up and down the snow covered path with no luck. I can’t imagine how devastating this must have felt, the ring was an absolutely beautiful Platinum band with an exquisite Princess cut Diamond. Not to mention the sentimental value of loosing an engagement ring would be the worst feeling……. but they found me on the Ring Finders Toronto page and there was a glimmer of hope. I had told them that last year I returned over 50 rings to people in the same shoes, not to worry and I would be over first thing. I told my wife and 2 adult daughters the story and they were all pretty adamant that I get there first thing before a passer by finds it before me.

When I arrived I met Kim a very nice young Lady and her Dog Georgie an awesome bulldog (my favorite dog) and they took me to the path. OMG she walked 1/2 a mile along the path weaving on and off the trail as the dog did his business. I told Kim that it was a huge area to look and most people have a better idea of where the ring came off within a smaller area like a back yard. This was going to take all my know how and tactics to find this ring…. it literally was a needle in a haystack. Actually that would be easier to find.

Kim left me to do my work and said she was easily available by cell and not far if I needed her, so, I started walking the path up and down which was taking about 30 minutes a pass. The ground still had lots of snow covering it which in my mind, made me think the Ring was somewhat suspended over the solid ground. This is ideal because there are tonnes of metallic targets in the ground that make a detector go off like pull tabs and pop tops. These objects sound just like Rings and if Kim’s rings is a bit higher off the ground it will lessen the other bad signals. With enough experience and the right equipment ( my detector is a Pro series worth $2800.+) you can also identify which are good and bad signals and which ones are close to the coil.  I have found literally hundreds of rings and have one secret technique that helps me find some of the most beautiful rings you’ve ever seen. I have also found very deep old rings with this exceptional detector.Last year I found a Gold Ring dated 1882 on the inside and it made American Digger magazine in the states. However that was last year and here I was on a half mile long haystack and I wasn’t leaving without finding this one for Kim and her husband.

So I started off and had made about 3 passes up and down the 1/2 mile of path, I noticed that the snow was melting fast and there wasn’t time to loose. I remembered she had said she watched her dog poop in this one area and as a responsible dog owner gathered it up in a plastic bag for disposal. Usually you focus on an area like this because the hands are going in and out of pockets more creating a great opportunity for a Ring to pop off. After another hour as I must admit I was getting a little discouraged I heard a low grunting signal. A Very familiar signal! ………  I called Kim and as you can see on the following youtube video the rest is what all of us were waiting for…….

Deja Vu All Over Again!!

Many of you know that I have pulled off some epic April Fool’s Pranks on my birthday. This is not one of them, this is a true story!

Joe contacted me 2 weeks ago. He thought that he lost his ring in his yard while raking leaves in the fall. He said that this isn’t the 1st time he has lost his ring. It is the 5th time and I found it for him several years ago. That time he also lost it while doing yard work.

He said he would be home on Friday & I had some free time, so I headed over. The last time I found it within 10 minutes. I noticed that the yard has changed. The back yard has a metal fence, not good. Plus, there is a large garden in the middle of the yard that also has a metal fence around it.

Joe stated that he bought a $150 metal detector. He has been trying to look for it, but the machine is always beeping. So he thought it was time to reach out again.

Joe showed me what he was doing that fateful day. He was raking leaves & dumping them in multiple locations. I started searching in the areas that he thought that he lost it. All of those spots were near the fences. I brought multiple machines and lowered the sensitivity really low, but the fences are just to overpowering to my metal detectors.

I moved to other areas of the yard. I searched out front where he said he piled the leaves for the township. I was hoping that the leaf machine didn’t get his platinum wedding band. After 2.5 hours of searching I had to leave, I had another appointment.

Our schedules wouldn’t line up till 1 week later on April Fool’s Day. After leaving work at 8:30 am and getting my equipment. I called Joe to make sure we were still on. He said that he completely forgot. He had made an 11am appointment to get a newer car. He said that I could come over to look even if he wasn’t there. I told him that I would be there in 20 minutes.

Joe was out back moving some of the tomato cages out of the way in hopes that he lost it in the garden while he was dumping leaves. I did a quick search and I couldn’t get close to the edges because of the fence. It wasn’t in the rest of the garden.

I only had a small area in the back yard that I didn’t finish the last time that I was here. So I detected that. No ring. I got another machine with a 3-inch coil to try to get closer to the fences. No luck. I’m getting frustrated and getting ready to give up. I really wanted to find this ring, AGAIN. Joe would be my 1st repeat customer and 1st successful repeat customer.

I saw a rake in the garden and decided to rake all around the fence at the garden, both inside and out. I did it twice. The second time around I was down to the dirt. I moved some more dirt & leaves and there was a platinum ring right up against the fence.

I took a few pictures and went to the house to show Joe. He couldn’t believe it. He was so excited; his expression was better than the first time that I had found his ring. He asked if he could hug me. We hugged. He said that his wife isn’t going to believe this. I suggested that he puts the ring on a chain or gets a replacement that fits. He said that he would look into it. I also told him that I had a good feeling about finding it today since it is my birthday.

He now has my magnetic business card on his refrigerator for next time. I said it better be for a referral.

If you lose a metal item, call a professional. It takes a lot of time to learn what a metal detector is telling you. Most people think that you can just turn on a metal detector and go. You need to be able to know how to adjust the detector to different types of minerals in the soil and different metals. Save time & money and call your local Ring Finder!!

Lost Man’s Gold Ring in Westerville, OH. “FOUND”

I received a call  about a lost ring he lost a year ago in the front yard while during some landscaping. As he was pulling off his glove, there went the ring flying, not to be seen again. The ring has more sentimental valve because his grandmother took her own jewelry to make his grandfather father gold ring which is pictured. The whole family was happy that I was able to find the ring.

Lost Wedding Band in Baton Rouge, LA. – Found

Sid got a call from Yvette two days after her husband lost his platinum wedding band in their back yard. He was shaking pool water off his hands when more than water flew off. The search area was small but the ring could not be located by their visual search nor with a borrowed detector. Sid and Carrie arrived at the search area the next day. Both detectors (Garrett Ace 350 and AT Pro) went wild with interference. Not from power lines, from underground wires in the search area. Down on our hands and knees with pin pointers. Sid hunted the holly bushes and found the ring under leaves at the base of those bushes. Total search time, 20 minutes. Another smiling face (actually, three smiling faces) and we were on our way home. Thank you Yvette for the generous reward. This helps keep these search services available.
