Recently I got a call from Brian. He said that he found me on theringfinders.com website and that he had lost his ring the day before. He and a friend were about to dock his boat and while they approached the peir Brian put his left hand on the edge of the boat to reach for the dock with his right hand. As he did that his wedding ring slide off of his finger and into about 4 1/2 feet of water. They spend about an hour wading around in the water with a pool skimmer in hopes of scooping it up without any luck. So we set up a time for the following day to meet up. We met up the next day and he showed me which pier he was at and about where he thought that it was. So I grabbed my gear and headed for that area. And right where he was pointing I got a rock solid 12 VDI on the Nox. For whatever reason it took me a while to scoop up the signal. Brian asked if I wanted to skip it and look more to my left. I told him I shouldn’t give up on this signal because it was the perfect gold numbers. Finally after what seemed like forever I got the signal in the scoop! When I picked the scoop up from the water I gave it a couple of shakes and sitting in the bottom of the basket was Brian’s white gold wedding band!! Success!!

Diamond Engagement Ring Lost, Recovered and Returned in Philadelphia, PA!!!

Liana texted me late on the Friday after Thanksgiving seeking help to find her lost diamond engagement ring. I immediately called her and she told me she had been raking and bagging leaves in her backyard when her ring came up  missing…she thought it probably fell off while raking or bagging the leaves. We made arrangements to meet the following morning at her home in Conshohocken, PA. When I arrived the next  day I sensed Liana’s stress…they had spent many hours dumping and re-bagging all the the leaves in search of the ring already and even purchased a metal detector to try to find themselves. After no luck they read a suggestion online that they could hire a professional…hence the call to me. Liana, her husband and neighbors were all involved in the search…a very nice crew of people! I really wanted to come through for them. Since she said she already dumped and searched and re-bagged the 15 bags of leaves it made sense to scan the small yard first. I scanned the entire yard fully 3 times before I decided the ring is absolutely not there. I was little disheartened because the only thing left were the bagged leaves but they said they thoroughly searched them already.  We decided we needed to dump them again…one at a time…and now I’ll scan all the contents with my Minelab Equinox metal detector….well, we were on bag #7 or 8…when I couldn’t help but smile…I finally got the signal I was hoping for…I nudged the leave pile a bit with my foot and saw the ring! The group was busy re-bagging leaves and didn’t see my hesitation and smile…i savored the moment for a second…then asked Liana to come over…I pointed to her ring in the middle of the leaf pile…oh the joy and relief on her face! Its why I love being a ring finder….I was so happy to be able to come through for them!

Lost necklace in the lagoon, Lavallette NJ, Recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

I received a call from AnnMarie about some items that were accidentally dumped into her lagoon. She had seen one of my stories about a water recovery, and figured it was worth giving me a call. She explained what had happened. Over 2 months prior her daughter was at the beach, and had placed her jewelry in her beach bag for safe keeping while she went into the water. At the end of the day, she placed her beach items in the back yard by the deck, and went inside the house. AnnMarie figured she would help and accidentally dumped her necklaces into the lagoon while dumping the sand out of the beach bag. At that point she figured they were gone, until she saw my post detailing a very similar recovery. I knew they were right up against the bulkhead after she explained in detail exactly what she had done. We basically decided to do the recovery but didn’t decide when, as I am in her area quite often. Ann sent me the address an told me it would be fine to go, even though they would not be home. I had some time a few days later, and swung by to look. Conditions were perfect, and about 35 min into the search I had both necklaces. She had no idea that I had gone and I decided to snap a few pics and shoot them over to her. AnnMarie was shocked to say the least, we made arrangements to mail them back to her, and in just a few days they were back for safe keeping. Thank you again, so glad I was able to help.

Got a call today about a gold wedding ring lost in the backyard from about two weeks ago. While the wife was hanging Christmas lights and putting out other lights on a cold day.

I drive 1.5 hrs away, 10 mins to get the run down and less than a min it was found!!!

Last fall, Will was doing yard work when he realized his ring was missing. He had been mowing his beautiful yard and thought it might have slipped off while emptying the grass catcher. While he was reading Reddit articles, Will came across one mentioning one of my recoveries. He texted me, and we set an appointment on a lovely day to conduct a search.

Will showed me where he dumped his grass clippings in his back yard. There were a number of reasonable target IDs in the area, and each one had to be identified. After a long search through the piles of debris with a rake and shovel, I expanded the area to go under low tree branches and around large stones. Finally, I heard a clean signal (with a VDI of 15). Gently scraping the leaves away, the ring appeared!

Daughters Tattoos Symbolizes Ring Recovery and Return Number 220

As Ring Finders, we’ve all received those frantic calls asking for help to locate a lost “very” sentimental item (ring, necklace, bracelet, etc.). We’ve also experienced the happy returns with handshakes, big bear hugs, and laughs. And more times than not, we’ve watched those big tears running down cheeks, including our own sometimes. We also have those returns, for one reason or another that we’ll never forget.

This return happened in August 2023 when I found and returned my 220th item, which happened to be a lady’s wedding band. It started with a mother and her two daughters having a girl’s vacation at the beach. The mother was in the ocean and was knocked over by a wave. Knowing what that ring meant to their mother, the daughters contacted me. I was fortunate enough to find it and get it back on the finger it belonged on in pretty quick fashion. And oh yes, there was all the excitement, scream, hugs and tears with the return. It was a moment to remember!

Yesterday, just shy of 3 months I got a text saying, “Jim, I’m super sorry to bother you. But a couple months ago you found my mom’s wedding ring in the sand. My sister and I were so happy. I think you told my sister that we were number 220 of finds for you. We are going to get a tattoo and I just want to verify that our number is in fact 220. Is that something you are able to do for me?” I verified it for her, and she thanked me. I also asked her for a picture of her tattoo, and she agreed. Today I got the picture. I asked her what it meant to her, her sister and their mother to get the ring back. Here’s her response – “Let’s see what finding that ring meant to my family…. everything. Memories of a lifetime. From my parents dating and living the “easy” life to a marriage of 42 years! From the fights to the hugs, from the late nights out to the late nights up with kids. It’s a symbol of strength and promise. A promise that your life will not go unseen because I’ll be by your side through it all. So, to some it may be a ring, but it is so much more of family life wrapped in that ring.”

This is one of my returns I will never forget!

Lost wedding ring at the beach, Seaside Park NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

I received a call from Jay about locating his wedding ring that had flown off his hand while brushing some sand off his son earlier in the day. He was positive of the location, which was just behind where their chairs and stuff were set up on the beach. I told him I would head right out, and would be there ASAP, but the traffic was pretty bad, and to just be patient. About 30 min. later he met me in the parking lot, we talked a bit about the events leading up to the ring flying of his hand as we walked down the path to the area where they were it happened. He showed me the circle where he believed the ring should be, which was about 20′ in diameter, but he had no luck locating it prior to me arriving. I did a complete search of the area Jay had pointed out, but the ring was not there, so I asked him to duplicate the exact motions when the ring slipped off his finger. He was facing the water, and with his demonstration I immediately knew which direction to expand my search. On a narrow path about 5′ from the original search area, the ring was in my scoop. Jay was very surprised how far the ring had traveled, but very grateful to have it back. Many times when recovering items you have to look beyond the obvious.

About a year ago, Steve was brushing his hands on his porch one morning in Margate, NJ. Then suddenly, his lost wedding band rolled off the deck into the bushes and garden below. He and the landscaping crew searched with no avail. Steve saw that I help find lost rings and gave me a call. We met, and he demonstrated what had happened a year ago, and I got in there with the metal detector. I got a signal about four inches down, and it was the ring!

Gold and Diamond Earring Lost, Recovered and Returned in Wayne, PA!!!

Lesley contacted me through the Ring Finders directory after losing  an extremely sentimental gold and diamond earring the day before. She was heartbroken with the loss and determined to find it! When I arrived at her home the next day she explained after a detailed investigation(involving her Ring doorbell camera!) that her valuable earring either fell off in her or her neighbors yard…the local convenience store (Wawa) or the bank. She went to the wawa and bank and looked and asked if anyone found…then went home and printed lost and found signs to post as well. She also purchased a metal detector online to begin searching hers and her neighbors yard. That’s when someone told her about the Ring Finders directory and hence the call to me! When I got there she had the other earring and I was able to calibrate my machine to it. It rang up a strong 12-13 on  my Minelab Equinox Metal Detector….so that was the signal I was looking for! She first took me to the neighbors yard where she stopped to play with there dog …there was a crazy amount of newly fallen leaves in a grassy area around a large magnolia tree. Lesley thought the earring most likely came off while she was playing with the dog…well…she was right! after a 10 minute search…BOOM….sure enough I got a strong 12-13 signal on my machine! With Lesley standing next to me…I spread the deep leaves apart…and behold her beautiful large gold diamond earring! Not sure I have ever seen anyone so emotional as Lesley at that moment…the joy and relief! I was so happy to be able to come through for her!

LOST 14K GOLD w/DIAMOND RING IN GREENSBORO…….. FOUND!!!

Got a text/call from a gentleman whose wife had lost her 14k diamond ring while cleaning out a chicken box.
She took an eggshell out of the box with her right hand and just threw it to the right and behind her body so it would go into the ivy. Well, when she did this the ring flew off too.
After about 30-40 mins I got a 70’s signal and as I moved the leaves away, I saw her ring!
