Metal Detecting For A Lost Silver Pendent At UBC /University…Found

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Got a call in the middle of last week from a young lady by the name of Bianca who lost her silver pendent that was a gift from her sister. This young lady was also a member of the women’s rugby team at UBC where just the other week I had help another member find her lost silver pendent.

We arranged to meet this Sunday and when I met Bianca she was able to put me in a small area where she knew the pennant fell into the grass. I set up my grid and in less then 2 minutes using my Whites Surfmaster PI pro I had found the silver pendent.

Winchester Mountain Lookout – A High Elevation Find!

  • from Bellingham (Washington, United States)
Contact:

I am very fortunate to have the North Cascade Mountain range and the Mount Baker Wilderness practically in my backyard, here in Bellingham, Washington. We have backpacked and explored much of the area and trails but there was one jaunt that had been elusive and escaped us. My wife and I have never hiked the Winchester Mountain Lookout Trail. We’ve always wanted to but it just never happened until last week when I received a call from a young couple who lost a ring on the trail up the mountain.

IMG_1877

The Winchester Mountain Lookout is an old Ranger fire lookout built in 1935 and staffed until 1966. It was slated for demolition in 1982 but rescued by the Mount Baker Club who now keeps it up and is used for overnighters who want to spend nights there. It is quite comfortable but no longer has a wood stove in it. But the key feature to this spot is its views. A magnificent 360° view of the Mount Baker Wilderness and into British Columbia.IMG_1881

So when the call came in I was excited, saddened by their loss but excited at the opportunity to get up there and take a look, for the ring and the view. So my wife and I met Ethan and his wife at the trailhead and up the mountain we went.

The ring was lost about a mile up the trail, maybe a bit less, about 6000 ft. elevation. They had it marked with a GPS coordinate. But they knew the spot all too well as they had been back looking for it with a rented metal detector with no success. If there is only one piece of advice I can give someone who has lost some jewelry, it would be to not waste time and money on a rental metal detector. Probably 90% of the people who contact me had already rented a metal detector and tried. It is not worth it because in most cases it will not be an adequate detector and they are not as easy to operate as one might think. Well we made it to the spot and went to work.

The ring was lost when a large bug landed on her hand and she quickly whisked it away along with the ring down a steep slope off the trail. They pointed out the area where it happened and we recreated the mishap. I started with the area where they thought it was and had no luck. I then worked my way out from there and made the find.

IMG_1866It is always nice to put a smile on someone’s face, in this case I got two big smiles. Then we packed up and headed to the top. It turned out to be a beautiful clear day with spectacular views. What a rewarding day. I love this hobby and love The Ring Finders.

Large Diamond Ring Found in Kailua Kona, Hawaii

The latest ring found in Kailua Kona!

WendyRobinson-founddiamondring FoundDiamondRing-2
We got the call to find a lost diamond ring – a 2+ carat stone set in heavy gold – at a private residence.
The ring had bounced out the bedroom door at night – and couldn’t be found on the balcony or yard below. Due to the massive rains we’d been having, and the fact that the grass would be mowed the next day, we got the urgent call and luckily could come over the same day.
I looked under the balcony, around the bushes to the side of the balcony, and finally in the yard. About 20 yards away it sat tucked in the thick grass below – the ring must have rolled down the length of the balcony before tumbling off. Another happy ring recovery!

Lost Tiffany Silver Pendant UBC…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

The other day I received a call from a young lady by the name of Ciara that had lost a very special small Silver Tiffany Pendent in the shape of a bean. This bean was a symbol of love given to her by her mother.  Ciara is a rugby player for UBC (University British Columbia) and at practice she forgot to take her pendent off and during the workout it was ripped off her neck by accident.

She was very smart to make a mental note to the exact location it was ripped off her neck. This is fantastic as it makes the search much more easier when we can focus the search in a small area, specially when the item is so small.

I asked the type question that I always do to make sure I was in the right area and I had her put out some red cones to mark the search area.  After 10 minutes or so I bent down to check out a signal with my pin pointer and saw a little silver bean in the grass!

I put it in my hand and walked over to Ciara to ask her a few more questions and then held out the bean so she could see that I found it…I love when I can surprise people and she was surprised!!

I found out that the silver bean was her good luck charm,  she felt it helped her on her tests and on the rugby field. I’m happy that she has it back! Good Luck on your rugby season!!!

Lost ring at Coronado dog beach Found!

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

I ran across a Craig’s list ad in the lost and found section that told of a lost wedding ring at the dog beach in Coronado. I emailed Lisa back about TheRingFinders.com service and that I would be willing to look for it if they wished me to. A series of e-mails later, arrangements were made to meet at the beach at a low tide on Saturday morning. That beach gets detected almost daily, so. I just hoped the ring was still there, especially with an active Craig’s list ad.

I arrived early to beat the traffic and find a parking spot easier. I started detecting the beach but I didn’t know the search area yet, so, I just made my best guess on the most popular area. After detecting for a while and finding some targets (a good sign), Lisa’s husband, Olivier, and their son showed up to direct me to where they had been several days earlier when the ring was lost…the other end of the beach, of course! Olivier and son had been playing ball at the water’s edge when Olivier’s ring flew off. I had them give me the dimensions of the search area which ended up being about 80′ squared of wet and dry sand. I started at the middle of one edge of the square and proceeded to cut the square in half and work my way toward the edges. 10′ into my first pass, I had my first target, his ring, and it was in my scoop! They couldn’t believe it and thought I must be some kind of magician! A happy Olivier had his ring back so it can continue it’s story. Thank you for the reward.

Lost Bronze Bear Claw Pendent at 3rd Beach, Stanley Park…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I was at the beach with my Grandson and family when I got a call from a young lady asking for my help. She found me on The Ring Finders and went on to tell me that she had lost her bear claw pendent at the beach and she had a good idea where it was but just couldn’t find it.

I jumped in my car and headed for 3rd beach and it took me 30 minutes to get there because of traffic, I meet the young lady and her boyfriend and started my search…It took about 10 minutes and it showed up not far from where they thought it was lost. The couple wasn’t watching so I was able to surprise her…Caught on camera and quit funny!

How To Find A Lost Ring On Kits Beach, Vancouver.

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

The other day I went to the beach at night to cool off & relax and of course do some metal detecting. I started searching where all the people hang out by the logs during the day, there were some partiers still out there at midnight and one of my treasure hunting friends showed up so I headed to the other side of the beach away from the young kids. I was finding the coins and a ton of bottle caps then I found a silver ring. I could see the 925 stamp inside the band so I put it in my pouch and carried on.

When I got home early in the morning and after a couple of hours of sleep I was on my computer and I checked out the craigslist to find an ad about a lost silver wedding band with a great drawing of the location the ring was lost…I knew  it was the ring I found. So I sent a picture of the ring and said I think I found your ring…The phone rang minutes later and the young lady couldn’t believe that I found it. She was so excited and told me that she wasn’t going to tell here husband she was going to surprise him. They only got married two months ago and he was very sad!

Lost rings found at North Avenue Beach Chicago

  • from Las Vegas (Nevada, United States)
Contact:

Got a call at 8:30AM on Sunday, Fathers Day.
Woman was very upset that she lost both her wedding band and her engagement ring at North Ave Beach on Saturday. Took off her rings to put on lotion and forgot they were on her lap. She was leaving Chicago shortly on Sunday. Time was of the essence.  Didn’t want to break the news to her husband on Father’s Day that she lost both rings. Since they were white gold and I didn’t know how small they were, I decided to take the XP Deus and hunt in 18kHz. They had been searching the area 3 different times and lots of people had been trying to help her find them. I gridded off the area that she had been in. They were both down about 5 inches. Probably because people had been moving the sand around. Both rings came in at 45 in my ring program that Andy Sabisch helped me set up at his XP Deus Bootcamp. As you can see the wedding band was very thin, although covered in diamonds. Don’t think I would have found it if I had not been in 18kHz. Found it in less than 10 minutes.
The owner was in tears she was so relieved. She kept saying that I saved her. She was so excited to get the rings back on her hands that you can still see the sand on them!  It’s great to be able to help people. What a great hobby. Thanks Andy, thanks XP Deus team, thanks Ron Shore from Windy City Detector Sales and Rental, and special thanks to The Ringfinders Database so she could find me.

Lost Wedding Band Found at Jericho Beach, Vancouver.

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Summer is knocking at the door/beach already! The temperature will be in the high 80’s for the next 10 days and people are hitting the beach hard!

That being said I got a call yesterday about a lost wedding band at Jericho beach, it was lost in the ocean and they looked for an hour with no luck and the young man’s wife came back the next day and spent another hour or more searching at low tide…No luck!

Thankfully the lifeguard passed the young couple my rack card and told them about… TheRing Finders.com

I met Chris at the beach this morning around 9am and he showed me the location the ring was lost at and because I had to wait a couple of hours for the tide to go out he hit the road for a bike ride.

I hunted the beach dry & wet sand for a while and found 7 $2.00 coins and 2 $1.00 coins and some dimes & quarters.

About an hour later I hit the water and found Chris’ tungsten carbide wedding band in about 8-10 minutes at chest deep water.

I love my jog!

White gold wedding band found in Denver’s Washington Park

  • from Denver (Colorado, United States)

I was attending the GPAA’s Gold and Treasure show when I received a call from Mike. He was in one of the local parks preparing to play volleyball when he decided to take off his white gold wedding band and place it into his pocket for safe keeping. After a few games and a few beers Mike decided it was time to walk home and reached for his wedding band. The ring was no longer in his pocket. His friends stopped playing and searched both courts that they played in and the area between them in earnest for his ring for several minutes. But they had no luck the ring was well hidden in the grass. After a quick internet search Mike found me  and left me a message on my cell phone. I noticed the message on my phone and called Mike back. I was only a 15 minute drive from the park and just happened to have a couple of detectors in my truck.

Upon my arrival Mike and I talked about the series of events that happened, he took me to the location where he had played. His friends were still there playing one last game of volleyball so the location of the hunt site was not in question. I searched the area between two courts that Mike had played on only recovering pull tabs. As his friends were taking down the final net I asked them to keep some sort of indications as to the net’s and sidelines locations. They left the court boundary line staked in the ground so I decided to run a couple of quick patterns along both sides of the net location. Within 15 feet of starting this pattern my V3i gave me a nice 13-14 reading and there was Mikes wedding band. I received a crushing group hug from Mikes friends and Mike was quite relieved to have his ring back.
