iPhone 7 Lost at Manhattan Beach, CA, Found and Happily Returned.

I received an email from Amber last Tuesday morning asking if I might be able to help her find her iPhone. She had lost it 2 days prior at the beach, and was unable to find it. I asked her to give me a call, so I could discuss the loss with her, and she called right away. She told me that the “Find My iPhone App” said it showed it was still there the day after it was lost, and the area of the loss I knew was not a high trafficked area, so the possibilities of a recovery increased more. She let me know that she was at work, and could meet me later in the day, but I felt I should get on this search right away and asked for all the specifics. After getting all the information, I was on my way.

When I got to the spot, I was relieved to see that the area had not been cleaned by the County sifting machines, so I knew the possibilities of a recovery increased. I began my search, and after about 4 passes, and a few coins and other metal objects, I got a very strong overloading signal. I brushed the sand away with my foot so as to not damage her phone, if that was what I had found, and about an inch under the surface, there it was. I emailed Amber to let her know I found the phone, and she asked that I provide a picture. She was very excited that I was able to help, so we arranged to meet after she got off of work, When we met she and her friend were so happy. Amber told me she had already decided to buy a new phone, but that would have been a burden because she was to start nursing school soon, and really could not afford to spend the extra money. So happy to have made Amber’s day last week!

SCUBA Jeff’s mobile phone Samsung Galaxy S8 in Lake Washington

Received a call from a gentleman that while walking on a dock where his boat was moored had his mobile phone slip out of of his pocket and into the shallow waters of Lake Washington. I meet up with Jeff and he showed me the precise location of where the phone went into the water. Being his prime business phone he was eager to have it recovered.

His Samsung Galaxy S8 is a water resistant phone keeping us  hopeful that it may still work. Even if it the phone was totally flooded Jeff needed the phone to utilize the lost / damage insurance policy. After a bit of searching with a metal detedtor the phone was found in the precise location of where it fell off the dock. To our surprise it was still dry inside and operating as intended. Having been found in five foot of water saved the phone for sure. Another fun recovery on a cold wet Seattle day…

I received a call from Amanda requesting my assistance to locate a very special ring that she had lost on Saturday evening.  Amanda and her friends spent a good part of Sunday afternoon looking for her ring but with no luck. She then decided to goggle “Lost Ring” and my name popped up. She called me I agreed to meet her this evening.  Within five minutes of meeting we found her ring in the snow.   She could not believe that her ring was back on her finger in such a short time.

College Cutie Gets Her Ride Back!!

This pretty, young lady awoke today only to find out she lost her car and work keys Friday night after she got home in the snowmageddon here in SE Michigan. She needed to go to class and work today and by time I responded to her there was only a few hours till she had to be there. When I got to the site we talked about where she parked and walked towards her apartment. I noticed the plows and maintenance people had moved lots of snow and there were huge, deep, hard ice packed snow mounds in the area where she was. We both discussed the possibility that a plow had snagged them and moved them who knows how far from where they were dropped! I got my MXT set up and started a grid search.
I checked a wide area in the street only to find nothing. We talked a bit more and she thought she maybe cut across the front yard to get into her apt quicker in the snow so I had a vibe and decided to check the area where I saw her footprints in the snow. Being that keys give a mixed signal I had to go on the MXT depth indicator to feel I was on target. Cutting thru the snow with my bigfoot coil I got a mixed iron/non ferrous signal at 0 inch depth and kicking the snow aside revealed her keys! I yelled over to her as she was levelling the snowdrifts in the street and texting her boss saying she had lost the office keys!
She couldn’t believe that I had found them and was so very excited that she could continue her daily routine despite the elements and losing the keys! She didn’t end up texting him after all but decided to tell him that she was able to find them with the help of a metal detectorist!

Wedding Ring Lost in Burlington Vermont….Found

I got an email from a woman in Burlington Vt this morning explaining that her husband lost his platinum wedding band in the snow behind his office last night. I called her immediately and told her I could be there shortly.

He had been working late last night and went out back to throw things in the dumpster. He heard his ring hit the ground, so started searching, with no luck. Some coworkers came out with him to move cars and help search. It was snowing and no one could find it. They found my listing on the internet and decided to try The Ring Finders service.

When I arrived there this morning, I thought “oh no, there’s metal everywhere”. There were large metal tubs, dumpsters, guard posts and concrete full of re-bar. I was glad that I brought 3 of my detectors, in case there was a lot of interference. We started with the most likely spots and then had to get inventive. Using my plastic snow shovel, we dragged and shoveled snow out onto the parking lot where I could scan it with no interference. I was beginning to get nervous that it had driven off stuck in someone’s snow tire tread or that someone else had walked away with it through the night. After about a half hour I got the ring tone! It was in perfect condition and now it’s back on a happy hubby’s finger. What a nice way to start a day.

I also found out that their dogs are rescues! My kind of people!

Lost White Gold Diamond Ring in Blaine Tennessee…Found

On Wednesday evening Feb 7th, 2018, I was feeding 3 of the horses in barn, I threw some hay in stall for them, watered them and then went in house. Next morning I had realized I was not wearing my wedding set!!! This was a new wedding set my husband had saved money to buy me for our 25th Anniversary just 10 months ago. I went to barn and one of the girls had already cleaned out all the stalls and threw the manure in field where it had been trampled over by least 4 other horses and had been raining for 4 days straight, it looked hopeless to say the least. I spent all that day in rain knee deep in manure and mud with small detector hunting for ring, the horses had been moved from barn to horse arena, so now it could been stepped on and in arena maybe, I spent next day for 7 hours in arena and nothing, I went back to barn opened stall doors and under door was the diamond wedding band but No solitaire diamond .

He started in each stall and some of the manure in barn a hour into searching the rain started pouring again, he put on rain gear and we started outside the barn where girls had thrown manure from that Thursday, when stepping into the field area your boots would get stuck instantly was about 8 inch deep from all rain and mud. I had a area marked for him to search and he hit on something and started to dig then another hit, my husband started digging for him because mud was so bad you would get stuck in it, all the sudden where the hit was and my husband said I GOT IT! Detector rental finds missing machine piece for local water bottling company! Big Island Hawaii.

“Thinking Outside the Box”

We got a funny call for help the other day.
A water bottling company lost a nozzle used to fill their water bottles in one of their cases of water. It fell off the machine after a daily cleaning.
Not only was the stainless steel nozzle in one of the cases, it had certainly fallen INSIDE one of the water bottles which were now packaged and ready for delivery.
1680 CASES of water were being loaded onto the truck for international delivery when an engineer realized the piece had gone for a ride inside one of the bottles…
“Would our detector be able to the find a quarter-sized piece of stainless steel inside a water bottle?” was the first question we got on our call at 5pm.
An engineer did the 2 hour drive over the volcanos from Hilo to us here in Kona with a sample box of water containing a replicated ‘lost nozzle’ hidden in one of the bottles.
We switched on the detector and ran the detector’s coil over the box – a small blip – running over the side was a louder blip – then passing it under the box made a definitive BEEP! Made sense as the piece would have been sitting on the bottom of the bottle…
The engineer’s team as waiting for him – it would be a late night – so he raced back over the mountain and the employees started taking boxes off the 24 palettes – a total of 1680 cases of water, each holding 12 large water bottles. Phew! A clever employee rigged the detector’s coil so boxes of unopened water could be put atop the now upside-down coil.
After 10 palettes (700 cases) of passing boxes of water bottles on and off the detector – a definitive BEEP! Ripping the case open, sure enough, the missing piece of the machine was FOUND!
Great detective work – a real case of thinking outside the box to solve a problem – and glad we could have been of help with our humble metal detector!

I received a call from Marnie on Wednesday evening asking if a metal detector could locate a I phone lost in the snow. I told her that it should not be a problem and asked if she knew the approximate area the phone was lost.

I met Marnie and her daughter yesterday afternoon at the school where her school class had been snowshoeing. She wasn’t sure exactly where she had lost her phone but it was along the path they had walked. After about one hour of searching we came up to some bushes and a small creek at the end of the field and this is where her daughter had fallen. That is where I found her phone buried in a foot of snow.

Both were very happy to have the phone back in their possession as all her personal identification was also in the phone wallet. This could have caused a huge problem had the phone ended up in the wrong hands Costly too.

Lost ring in sand at Daytona Beach, Fl……Found!

Jan. 1st, I received this comment on one of my ring search stories. Rich wrote, “I believe I lost my ring on the beach approximately 50 yards to the right–facing the ocean–from the end of the Oceanview parking lot wooden walkway. It may have slid off my finger when I shook out my wife’s towel. It is a simple gold Florentine wedding band with “Marla love Oli 1974″ engraved on the inside. By some stroke of luck if anyone finds it, please notify me. Thanks, Rich” So I sent Rich an e-mail and asked him my usual questions, like: “What day and what time of the day were you on the beach and shook out your towel?” And “When can you meet me and show me the exact place where you were on the beach?” And, “And it sounds like you are not exactly sure that you lost it on the beach!” Rich’s response was “I am sorry, but I forgot to mention that I am in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area and was vacationing in Florida when I lost my ring.”
Thankfully Rich was able to give me precise details about where they were on the beach and what the area looked like. He even sent me a link to a google map with a pin of where they were when he shook out their towels. One of his descriptions of the beach indicated that there was soft sand and a long row of seaweed close to where they were sitting. That is what it looked like on Dec. 26th–the day after Christmas. But when I arrived at the beach, 9 days later, it was totally different looking. Sometime between Dec. 26th and Jan. 4th we had some really big waves with extra high surf. Enough to take a good 3 feet of sand off the upper beach area. There was literally no soft sand, except way up on the dunes. So I set up my 4 flags in the target area and looked for 4 hours and no ring. I did find lots of other targets–185 to be exact! Old crusty, green coins, fishing weights and all sorts of items. I sort of figured the ring would not be there after so much erosion and made plans to come back the following Sat. to look again. When I arrived on Saturday, the tide was a bit higher than I expected and I wound up searching higher up the beach and after digging more green coins and fishing weights—to my surprise up pops Rich’s lost gold wedding ring! I could hardly believe it was still in the same general area after all that erosion. I determined that a mans gold ring is quite different than a coin in that it does not slide and move around like a coin would. As the waves wash over it, back and forth, it tends to go down because of the hole in the center.
Rich was thrilled to hear that I found his ring and I was able to mail it to him the next week. All told, I searched 5 and a half hours and dug 185 targets, while looking for Rich’s ring. And it was so worth it!! Lost your ring? Call ASAP!

Wedding Ring Lost in Sand at a Local City Park

Nick called me early in the morning, asking my help finding his wedding band that he lost the last night. He was doing his daily workout after work. After he finishes his two mile run, he stops by a local park that has some workout bars that he uses to do some upper arm exercises.

While working out on the bars his wedding band slipped off his finger into deep sand. Nick went back to his house to get tools to sift trough the sand with no success finding his ring.

The next day Nick found my contact information on TheRingFinders.com.
He would be working till late that night, making it impossible to meet me at the site of the loss.

No problem for me as it was a neighborhood tot lot that would be find if he texted me the address. These public parks get hit hard by other people with metal detectors, especially sandy tot lot play areas.

I went to the park but could not locate the area Nick had described. I could not contact him but he did call me to check on my progress and he had sent me the wrong directions. A half hour later I was at the right park and within a few minutes I found Nick’s wedding ring.
I called him setting up a place we could meet to personally give him his wedding band back after he got off work. He was definitely grateful, thanking me several times.

Its always nice to return the ring directly to the owner, I know I’ll never get tired of doing this.
