Lost House Key – Found, Myrtle Beach, SC

I received a forwarded text message through my daughter at about 8:30pm Christmas Eve from her friend Tiffany asking if I could help her friend Mistie find a lost house key. In the text was Mistie’s phone number so I called her. Mistie told me she was a pet sitter and had just taken care of one of her client’s pet and on her way to her car dropped the owner’s house key in the thick grass.

I arrived and met Mistie at the gated community about 45 minutes later and followed her to the house. She showed me the approximate location of where she thought the key was and about 5 swings and a minute later I had a good solid 65 on my AT Pro. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my pin pointer so I was sitting on the sidewalk feeling through the thick grass and found the key about 5 inches off the sidewalk.

Mistie was so relieved and excited to call the owners, who were on vacation in Atlanta, GA, to let them know their key had been found.

Miranda called this morning asking if I was available to find her husband 14ct  white gold wedding band which he lost while shaking snow off his hand his ring flew off. They both spent a couple of hours looking and filling plastic pails with snow and taking them into the house to melt, with no luck finding the ring, they where all ready late in heading out of town for the weekend,

Miranda gave me the location where the ring could possibly be, I headed out to the base it took me about five minute to locate the ring. I meet up with Stipan yesterday and handed him his ring back in which he was very grateful to have his ring back where it belongs.

Thank you Stipan for the generous reward, once again another happy client.

Deceased Mother’s Ring Found in Gloucester Twp NJ

My wife received a message, in late September, from a friend who has been reading some of my recovery stories. Apparently her mom, who passed away late last year, lost a gold ring about this time last year. Her mom insisted that it was lost near the driveway at her house. She asked if I could look for it.

I am always up for a new search. I had some time to spare this week so I got the address for her dad’s house and packed my truck with 3 detectors and assorted other necessities.

I arrived at the house and it looked like no one was home. I started to search the very thick Zoysia grass. I was thinking to myself that there is no way a ring could penetrate this carpet, it would just sit on top.

I searched the area and received 2 possible targets. I moved the grass around to see if the ring was under the grass. Nope I marked them both to check after I finished the area, because it would take a little work to look in the ground with the thick root system of the Zoysia.

After finishing the search of the area I went to the first mark. Carefully with out destroying the grass I was able to probe and pop out a nickle. I was about 2 inches down in the dirt. After the recovery I fixed the ground & no one will ever know that the ground was disturbed.

I went to the 2nd target that I marked. I was probing the area with a 10 inch flat head Craftsman screw driver that I use a a probe. After a few tries I hit something that wasn’t a root. I tried to pop the target out of the ground, no luck. I then dug a very small hole in the dirt. I see the sparkle of GOLD. It was the ring, but it was intertwined in thick roots of the Zoysia. With in a minute I had the ring in my possession. I was amazed at how deep the ring was in the dirt after only being there about 1 year.

I fixed the ground and you can’t tell that anyone was there. I took the ring home, and cleaned it up. I took a few pictures and then sent a text with just the picture to Denise. I got a message back saying “OMG!I Love u!!! Ur making me cry!!!”

The whole searching of the area and the recovery of the ring only took about 10 minutes. It took longer to pack my truck…

Lost Gold Ring Near Strathcona Farmers Market Edmonton, Alberta

Michael  called me this morning to see if I would be available to help him find his lost gold ring. It belonged to his father and was of huge sentimental value to him. I told him I would be there in forty five minutes.

Michael had been checking his parking meter to see how much time he had left, lost his balance, and felt the ring fly off his finger but had no idea in which direction it had gone.  He thought it ended up on the Church property and had spent a couple of hours with his friends looking for it with no luck.  He had even had the Edmonton Police with a hand held detector looking for him.

I did a quick search of the area but did not find the ring so I decided to check the street.  With all the traffic, I had to dodge cars, and I felt my chances were slim that I would find it.  I did detect a tone, which  turned out to be a pop can.  I swung my coil again and only inches away from the pop can I heard the same tone again. Packed in about 2 inches of snow was the ring in perfect condition.  Considering that he had lost the ring 3 days prior, and all the traffic on that street, he was very, very fortunate.

Ring recovered in Munith, Michigan

IMG_1635 IMG_1658 IMG_1660I feel like the postman today, neither rain, sleet or snow will stop me from finding a lost ring. Andrew D. called me last week when the temperature in Michigan was a balmy 60 degrees. Andrew and his family live in a rural area of mid Michigan on a very old farm. He said he lost his platinum wedding band in his yard while walking from his barn to the house.  It was about a 20 square foot area but after hours of searching he couldn’t find it. I emailed Andrew back an said I could make it out on Thursday when it was still nice out and easier to search. After a couple days Andrew suggested he would be home on Friday December 18 so I said okay. Friday was the coldest and snowiest day this year, on the 100 mile journey to his house we started out through snow flurries and then arriving was cold and light snow. My hunting partner Dave Boyer and I got out our detectors and set up a grid. We thought we would do something different, thinking that the ring must be close to the surface and maybe stepped on when Andrew was searching, we gave Andrew our pin pointer. When we got a hit we had Andrew search with the pointer, this way he would be the one to recover the ring. Sure enough after about 10 minutes Andrew dug up the ring from a hit that we got. He was very happy with our service. After some conversation and photos, we headed home. From the photo above you can see that the flurries turn to ice on the roads and 3 hours later at sometimes a dead stop to 5 mph we made it home. As Chris T. always says “I love my job”.

Lost ring in Salt Lake City, Utah: Found

Salt Lake City got hit with a big snowstorm this week. Jarom shoveled his walks and driveway, then noticed that his wedding ring was missing. He spent all day searching through the snow, but he couldn’t find it. He did an online search to rent a metal detector, and found The Ring Finders. I was able to be there the next day, and we found the ring in a few minutes! We are both very excited!

Lost Men’s Wedding Band at Hilton Hawaiian Village…..FOUND!!!

While I was wrapping up my work day I received a call from Tyler from Alaska. He was playing catch in the water with his Dad at Hilton Hawaiian Village. During one of his catches the football popped his wedding band right off his finger. He went ashore and got some goggles but the search was fruitless. The sand there swallows rings constantly. That’s when their Google search found The Ring Finders. I dropped off at my house and picked up my Excal and a few other necessities. Tyler met me in the parking lot. He told me he watched a Canadian guy’s website videos, I said you mean Chris Turner? Yes! That’s the guy. That’s the gentlemen who started the Ring Finders I said and actually let me join in for Oahu. We then walked down to the beach where his family was enjoying a day in the sun. Tyler and his father took me out to where they were in the water, it was chest deep. I told Tyler to stay put and I would start a grid search around him. I started about 30 feet to the West and seriously 15 seconds later I had a screaming target. One quick scoop and there was Tyler’s wedding band. The look on Tyler’s face of amazement was priceless. I have to say that was the easiest ring find ever. Aloha to Tyler and his Family.

Lost Gold & Diamonds Wedding Band at Lanikai Beach……FOUND!!!

I got a call at 6:30 PM from Nikhil on Lanikai Beach saying that when he picked up his back pack he didn’t realize his wife Sonali had put his Wedding Band in one of the pockets so as not to lose it at the beach. When he got back to their car he asked Sonali for his ring and it dawned on them that somewhere in the sand it had fallen out of the pack. I told Nikhil that I could be there in 30 minutes and it was getting dark quickly. When I arrived at Lanikai Beach it was pitch black. Thankfully I brought my Maglite. Nikhil took me to the 10 by 5 meter area they were at on the beach thinking the ring must have fallen out there. The area was neatly covered with horizontal finger rake marks where they had been searching for about an hour with no luck. Nikhil explained that they were from India and this ring had great family sentimental value. I went to work on the high side of the beach and on my third leg I got a screaming target. One scoop down and there was Nikhil’s beautiful ring. They both were overcome with joy and so grateful. Elapsed time 3 minutes and a Vacation event they will never forget. Aloha to Nikhil & Sonali!

Lost Family Heirloom Diamond Cross .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found

I was looking through Craigslist in the morning when I saw this post from Lauren:

I was playing football on the sand, by balboa fire pits, wearing my priceless necklace last week and the cross broke and came off the chain. I know I should not have been playing football in it, but I have worn it everyday since my grandma(who passed away) gave it to me years ago. I literally never take it off. It is so special to me, I am willing to give a reward! Please please let me know if you found it, and I am willing to meet anywhere. It means the world to me and I am devastated. Please be honest and give it back. I am willing to pay a reward. Thank you so much!!! I have been praying everyday and my whole small group has been praying too so please answer our prayers!

I replied to the post, saying that I would like to help find the cross, but would need to get better details. After a couple hours, I had not received a reply.. I live just a couple miles away from this beach and have an annual pass for parking, so I decided to go try to find the cross.
When I arrived at the general location there was a large skip loader tractor moving sand from the area where most people play football. It was still worth a try so I started searching the far edge of the field. After an hour the tractor finished moving sand. That opened up more area to search, but I didn’t have much hope.. Then I got a good signal which turned out to be a gold cross.
This had to be Lauren’s cross, what are the chances of there being more than one cross in that location. I sent a reply to the Craigslist email contact link, saying I believe that I have found your cross including my phone number and email information.
I did not get a reply all Thanksgiving day which started me to think that I wasn’t going to be able to return this cherished family heirloom. That night I posted a ” Found Gold Cross Balboa fire pits ” on Craigslist. Friday morning Brian, one of Lauren’s friends contacted me. After talking with him and sending a photo of the cross we determined it was not Lauren’s cross.
During our phone conversation I was able to get better directions as to where they had been playing. It was a hundred yards to the north of where the tractor was moving sand.. I was more positive about finding this gold cross this time. After returning to search it only took about 45 minutes till I got a 12-02 reading (normally a tinfoil signal) on my CTX 3030. Wow! What a surprise, it was a beautiful white gold cross with 11 nice diamonds. Sent them a picture of the cross via text message.
They live 60 miles across town, so we arranged a meeting place two days later.
It was a special type search with several twists and turns. ( 3 crosses were found in total) This is so awesome to be able to help people find their sentimental keepsakes.
