Family Hierloom Ring Lost .. Santa Monica, CA. .. Found 6 hours before Flying to the U.K.

I received an email from Annabel just before 11pm the night before she had to return home to the U.K. She didn’t have regular celphone service as she was on vacation.

I got your details but from the ring finders website and I know it’s a long shot but I really need your help!

I was at the beach today in Santa Monica and lost my nans engagement ring and searched and searched through the sand and couldn’t find it. I think I know the small area where it was probably lost as I took my ring off (with my watch) before going into the ocean and when I came back I could only find the watch in my bag, so it must have slipped out.

Would you be around tomorrow morning to help? The only problem is that I fly back to the uk tomorrow and need to leave at 4 for the airport! If you are able to help at such short notice, how much do you charge?

I know it’s a long shot but thought I would see if you could help.

I was on the beach at 6am, and began my search before Annabel arrived. We had a mix up about what lifeguard tower she was near when the loss occurred. When we got to the right location the first 30 minutes did not turn up the ring. I asked her which way she walked off the beach. That was the right question and it only took a few minutes to find this very sentimental ring. The ring had come out her beach bag as she walked off the beach. Another nice lady that I had the pleasure to help find such an important piece of family memories. I know how much a person can worry about the loss of this type keepsake. I’m sure her trip home was much happier than it would have been if she didn’t find it.

Lost Wedding Ring at New Symrna Beach, Florida……Found!

Shawn sent me a short e-mail stating that he lost his white gold wedding band at the beach and ended by saying, “This has caused great problems!” I responded the next morning and assured him that I would definitely try and help him find his ring. I asked a few questions about the details and what he remembered about where, when and how he felt he might have lost it. Shawn said that he and two of his best friends had lunch at the Breakers Restaurant in New Symrna Beach and afterwards headed out onto the beach to throw the football around and enjoy the water. It wasn’t long before Shawn realized that his wedding ring was missing. He desperately started walking back and forth looking along the waters edge to see if he could catch a glimpse of his gold ring. He even coaxed a few good hearted strangers to assist in the search but to no avail!
Before going home Shawn was able to file a report with the beach patrol–just in case someone found his ring and turned it in.
Later that night Shawn found theringfinders.com web site and sent me his first e-mail. It took four hours anddscf25771dscf2573-001 two searches to narrow down the exact area where Shawn and his buddies were tossing the football, but after doing a very tight grid search pattern I was finally able to uncover his ring. I immediately called Shawn and told him I had found his ring and he could not believe it! We met later that evening and he was almost speechless that someone he had never met before would actually look for, find and return his ring to him.
It was truly an honor and privilege to help reunite Shawn with his lost wedding ring!

Lost Gold and Diamonds Wedding Ring at Makaleha Beach, North Shore Oahu…FOUND!!!

This ring find started when I got a call from Vince a soldier stationed in Hawaii from Lancaster, PA. While relaxing on the beach reading a book he placed his wedding band on his chest. When he got up to leave he forgot about the ring and it disappeared into the sand. He didn’t realize he lost it until he was back at his car. Vince went back to look but it was getting dark so he marked the spot and went home. He was searching for a metal detector rental and thats how he found me. I don’t rent metal detectors from my business, I’d rather provide the service myself. Works out better that way. Vince had a friend with a metal detector but that didn’t pan out so he called me back for a ring finder service. I met Vince & his lovely wife Iris at McDonalds and we proceeded from there to the remote beach. Vince took me to the area he thought the ring fell off and I started a grid search. He marked the spot previously with a seashell in the property barbed wire fence. I did a thorough grid search with only a few scrap pieces of metal found. Vince looked at the area and decided it might be farther to the East but not past the next tree. I started that grid search with only a few more coin targets. Just as I was getting to that last tree I got a great tone in my headset and one scoop down out popped Vince’s ring. Finally, and at the extreme end of the grid. Not always as we remember it! Vince & Iris were very thankful and Vince asked if he was out of the doghouse? She let him out! Oddly enough I got a text a few hours later from Vince saying someone with an Excalibur arrived at the beach shortly after I left. Lucky for us. Timimng is everything in this hobby. Leaf pile yields lost ring in Cascade, Michigan

Jeremy B. his wife Rebecca and their three children live on a little piece of heaven on earth, a 3 acre parcel with a 100 year old barn and room for their young children to play. Jeremy was gathering leaves and filled 28 drums of leaves the other day and dumping them in the back of their property in a four foot tall pile. After he was finished for the day he noticed his gold wedding band, that Rebecca had designed for him, was missing. It could have been lost in a couple of places on the property. Jeremy googled lost ring and found The Ring Finders and my name in Grand Rapids, after a call to me I made arrangements for my detecting partner Dave Boyer and myself to come out and search the next day.

We met Jeremy, his wife and the children and got the layout of the land and decided to search the leaf pile as the first logical place to look. We were on the leaf pile and after knocking the four foot pile down to two feet, a strong signal was detected, brushing away a few more leaves was the gold ring. We thought it would be nice for Jeremy’s young son, Corbin, to find it so we walked up to the front lawn where they raked the leaves the other day and placed it under some grass and gave him my pin pointer. When the pointer beeped he reached in the grass and picked up the ring and ran out to his dad with the ring waving in the air. Jeremy was all smiles walking up to thank us for finding his ring.

They were a very happy couple and invited us to come out anytime to detect the property and as legend has it, there might be a civil war cannon buried in the area somewhere. Jeremy is putting a new foundation and restoring the old barn creating a new use underneath the barn.

Buried Car Keys Lost .. Santa Monica, CA. .. Found in Sand

Annenberg Community Center.. Jenifer Buried her car keys in the sand while she went surfing then couldn’t get back to the location in the dark.

After helping Marie find her pendant lost in the sand at Malibu Lagoon State Beach, I stopped by a beach at the north side of Santa Monica Beach. I wanted to search the low tide where a ring had been lost in the water last month.
I was just finishing my search when Jenifer came running up to me in the dark. She was panicking because she had buried her car keys in the sand under her beach bag while she went surfing. Upon returning to her car with her belongings, she realized her car keys were still buried back on the beach somewhere, two blocks away from her car.
I told her I would help her if she could get me back to the general location. Easier said than done, there were absolutely nothing to reference where she had been, just flat dry sand. I picked out a place to start a grid search explaining that I could not just randomly wander the large search area. I was going to be like mowing a lawn. Once I finished one part of the search area, I could confidently move to the next section. I estimate that it takes about a hour to search a basketball court size area. (approx. 90’x 50′)
Jenifer started her own grid shuffling her feet in the sand. I was tempted to break from my grid and wander in random directions but I know it could be disastrous. Patience and persistence is the the rule. Sometimes I tell people that watching me grid search may drive them crazy. I need to overlap each swing of my search coil. The metal detector coil only can find metal under my 11 inch coil. You won’t believe that some people do not know this.
After about 45 minutes I got a good signal that turned out to be Jenifer’s car keys. No tow truck, no expensive car key replacement, now we can both get home. Jenifer was a happy surfer lady. It was a special pleasure to meet her and help her retrieve her keys from the sands of Santa Monica Beach.img_3987img_3935

White Gold and Diamond Pendant Lost in Sand .. Malibu, CA. .. Found

Marie had been surfing at the beach near Malibu Lagoon State Park. She had left her white gold diamond pendant on the beach with her friend. After surfing, she came back to the blanket where her friend was sitting to retrieve the pendant. As she was putting the necklace on, it slipped from her hand and the pendant dropped into the sand.

After a couple hours of searching with no success they got on their smart phones, locating me on TheRingFinders.com. Malibu lagoon is a State Park about two miles from Malibu Pier. It’s a beautiful beach. It took me about an hour till I could meet Marie at the parking lot. Then it was about a quarter mile walk to the location on the beach.

They had staked out the area well. It looked like it would be an easy search, but it took a bit longer than I thought. The pendant had many small diamonds and not much white gold. It came in with a sound similar to a small piece of tin foil. (14k White gold is 58% gold and the other 42% is different metals?). I have run into this same type situation with small white gold women’s bands that have many diamonds. They aren’t impossible to find but it’s nice to know that they don’t always give you a solid signal.
We had a lot of people on the beach, so everybody celebrated when the pendant was found. It was a pleasure to meet Marie and her friends and to retrieve her diamond pendant.

Wedding Ring Returned To Family Vacationing In Corona Del Mar

I received a phone call from someone named Dan who was visiting on vacation from Utah with his family. They were in south Corona Del Mar, and lost his titanium ring in the sand. After a long conversation, I found out the ring was lost far up on the sand, away from the water. It was higher up than the next oncoming high tide, so I knew it was safe and would still be there in the morning. The location was secluded. I spoke to him and asked him to mark the area with some smaller logs that were nearby. I went down to meet him Sunday morning at about 9:00 am and took about a five minute walk from the main beach. He showed me the area where he thought he lost it, and lo and behold, I heard a long RING, and the ring was in the first target that I dug. He was  amazed at the speediness of the recovery of the ring and was very grateful. He called his wife and kids right away to inform them of the good news, thanked me, and was on his way. I had a very gratifying ride home and the happiness of finding a ring made the ride home a lot shorter.

Wedding Band Found By Metal Detecting In Santa Monica

Garrett called me from Santa Monica, who lost his large white gold wedding band when playing volleyball with a group of friends. I needed to wait for traffic to die down and went up to meet him, and arrived at the beach about 8:00 pm. I met him by the pier and walked with him to the volleyball courts. After speaking with him earlier in the day, I asked him to map out the general areas where the ring could’ve fell off. After about 15 minutes, my metal detector let out a loud RING. I took two scoops down, and found the ring right next to the volleyball court. He was thrilled to see the sentimental ring for him and his wife, who both shared the same dentist. He was a mutual friend who insisted on making the ring himself for the couple. Once again, it was a nice long drive back from the coast. It felt great to reunite the ring with its rightful owner.
